Conversations about creating more joy in our lives, navigating tough decisions, and allowing ourselves to shine. Brought to you by Life Coach, wellness enthusiast and practical positive thinker, Danielle Brooker, this podcast is about getting real about how tight we're holding on to "busy" to stay i…
Given Fab Giovanetti's enthusiasm for life and her passion for reducing ‘busyness' you can see why we just had to get chatting! She's the founder of Creative Impact, a collective of hundreds of creatives making a positive impact on others and the planet. She's also a keen speaker, writer, and published author, with her latest book ‘Reclaim Your Time' published in 2021. In this episode you'll hear more about her journey into business, what some of her biggest lessons from the pandemic have been, and how she continues to cultivate her own joy. We talked about focusing on what you're good at, how to balance your stress, and why it's okay to be ambitious along the way.
Today's guest is someone who I look to for inspiration for self-trust, strong boundaries and a consistent willingness to learn. Lily Potter is a health coach, ‘inner mammal' trainer, teacher and mama. She's navigated all sorts of challenges and joys of life from healing infertility and acne, through to divorce and starting her own business and everything in between. Lily's curiosity for understanding the depth of life has given her this strength and commitment to change that is so unique (and inspiring!). She now teaches her clients how to build in healthy comfort habits and to develop stress mastery (which still includes the reduction of stressors and management techniques) – helping them to feel at ease and have a sense of freedom. We get into all sorts of topics in this conversation, from how to develop ‘stress mastery', through to self-trust, and overcoming feelings of shyness (particularly when they're keeping you small) and so much more. She is also training to be a Functional Nutritionist as well and will be able to help her clients solve complex physical and mental issues regarding their digestion, mood, chronic illnesses, autoimmune disorders etc. Going through a health crisis can also lead to stress mastery when faced with a curious and open mind. It takes grit to get through and I will be combining my work around stress to further support people on their healing journeys.
I could have recorded multiple episodes with this week's guest and not run out of things to talk about. Jennifer Bronsnick is such a beautiful example of someone living and breathing her work. Having been through her own anxiety journey, and trained in multiple tools to support herself and others to come back to a place of resilience and self-confidence. Her toolbox ranges from integrative therapy, through to human design, mindfulness-based therapy, and more. In this episode we talk about busyness (and what to do with it), how to keep resetting when things get too much, listening to your curiosity, and how anxiety can actually be a great messenger. Can't wait to hear what your favourite takeaways are! For more information go to www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode105.
When I asked Nicky what brings her joy in her life, she said she's all about “magic, moments and memories”. What a beautiful way to stay centred through change, stress and transition. In this episode we dive deeper into Nicky's journey, how she found herself creating journals and writing a book whilst working full time in a completely different field, and what the stress of her corporate job has taught her about coming back to joy. We talk about: ‘fulfilling' versus ‘full on'; tired versus depleted; and owning your own struggles in order to be free.
Hajni Erdelyi says the work she does with her clients is to help them to peel back all those layers of the onion, to connect in to the truth of who they are—and so much of that has to do with embodiment. For me, every time I speak with Hajni I feel like I discover a new layer, as if her onion too is peeling before me.
Dr Heather McKee's fascination with human behaviour began from a young age. Combining with her love for being outdoors, grew into her interest in health sciences, and led her to resign from a solid job, step out of her comfort zone, and go out on her own! She wanted to understand why well-intentioned people with all the resources they needed couldn't stick to their healthy habit goals! So, she sat down with each person in the clinic to understand more about what was holding them back. Heather is now a leading lifestyle behaviour change specialist—supporting businesses to design exceptional, long-term, wellness programmes that deliver on positive health outcomes. Having studied health behaviour change psychology for 10 years, her mission is to offer a sustainable, evidence-based alternative to an industry saturated with quick fixes and health fads. And she has some good news to share with you about creating healthy (lasting!) habits in your life. Hint: It's does NOT need to be hard. We cover: •Why intrinsic motivation is best; •Why goals are only a snapshot and what to set instead; •Creating super small and achievable steps to success; and •Following your inner joy. For the first time ever we have a second-round interview with a guest on the Let It Shine Podcast. And in some ways, Laura Jane Jones, requires little introduction. I rave about her and her work all the time, particularly if you hang out on Instagram with me. Laura first shared her story in Episode 43, and how she started tapping into her creativity as a way to manage change and stress. Fast-forward around 12 months since that conversation and so much has evolved for her! In today's episode we get into the juicy details of how she published her first book (the fun bits and the hard bits); what she teaches her kids in class that all adults should learn too (my favourite part); and accessing a sense of certainty from within. I can't wait for you to tune in and share with us both your favourite insights.
To celebrate 100 episodes, I'm doing something a little different today! I'm sharing with you some very real-time emotions, lessons and ‘messiness' from a few months of big life changes. You'll hear how I'm processing all the feelings (and why that's a big deal), and the give biggest lessons I'm starting to integrate into the transition. This episode is for anyone who has ever doubted a big decision they've made in their life, feels stuck (in their job, in their relationship, in their life), or is moving through any kind of change, big or small. These lessons have become pillars, anchoring me back into my trust in myself, and my joy. Help me celebrate this Let It Shine Podcast episode by leaving a review! Are you as committed to your JOY as you are to your deadlines, keeping your boss happy, and taking care of those around you? In today's episode I'm sharing the importance of getting stubborn about your joy and why it matters. For so many of us our inbuilt autopilot reaction is to choose hard work over ease, drama over joy and pain over pleasure. However when we can get to know and embody our joy on a deep level it can actually give us all the support, and fuel to move through our biggest challenges. It's time to flip your priorities and practice your joy.For more details and shownotes: www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode98 and for details on my new group coaching course, called JOY, head to www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/joycourse.

Liz Spears is someone who oozes joy from the moment you meet her. Caring, attentive and completely committed to supporting others to shine - you can see why I wanted to have her on the show to share her story and wisdom. She spent years ""feeling miserable, undervalued, and unfilled working in the fashion industry, I started working for a well-known women's activewear brand where I found the career joy and purpose I was searching for"". Which she ended up finding after connecting with like-minded souls, and eventually setting up her own marketing consultancy business - teaching purpose-led womxn how to promote their businesses online with authenticity, magic and magnetism. We talked lots about following the joy, excitement and peacefulness in life; how to make a change when you feel 'out of alignment'; and what being a hard-worker can look like (without the burn out). For more details and shownotes head to www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode97.
Even being in Alisha Rose Kruger’s presence makes me feel more trusting of myself and my body. There’s something about her determined way in which she acknowledges the power of our womb, yet delivers it with such joy and ease that makes me want to just know more and more and more! As a menstrual cycle guide, feminine embodiment coach and Holistic Pelvic Care™ practitioner, she guides women into sacred relationship with their menstrual cycles, womb wisdom and intuition so they can embody and express their most radiant, sovereign selves. In this episode we covered the full remit of things we often forget to talk about when it comes to wellbeing—from how to curate a community of support around you, to asking for help and the emotional strain of busyness. Feeling exhausted? Lacking clarity? Feeling lost? This episode will connect you back to your inner spark and give you the tools to come alive again. Here’s just some of what we dived into:•What a fully body ‘yes’ is and how to pay attention to yours•What ‘womb wisdom’ really means•Trusting our bodies and how that can build your confidence and strength•How Alisha has recovered from things like adrenal fatigue and a brain injury•How to apply “post-partum care” thinking to our entire livesAlisha’s wisdom and signature program, Sacred Cycles, is all about alignment to our inner wisdom and menstrual cycles so we can experience more energy, creativity and joy.For more details and shownotes, or to play catch up on previous episodes, head to http://www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode96.
Britny Jelacic had always done the ‘good girl thing’ until a series of back to back traumatic events had her questioning how she was showing up in the world. She says it took her “getting majorly burnt out and diagnosed with two autoimmune conditions and being almost bedridden” to realise how much things needed to change.Through her business, Britny helps women in business do less and thrive by aligning with their cycle, human design, and wild unfiltered selves. We dive into her burn out experience and the lessons it taught her, the paradox of over-working when you love your own business (and how to shift that mindset), and what doing ‘nothing’ teaches us.I loved so much about this conversation and can’t wait to hear your insights! For more details and shownotes, or to play catch up on previous episodes, head to http://www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode95.
Were you someone who grew up ‘holding it all together’ and not necessarily expressing your emotions?Maybe you thought that it wasn’t okay to cry, or to be angry, and instead you had to show your strong, happy self all the time. The confusion we have over our sense of ‘busyness’ is that we feel that the busier we become the more in control we’ll be. And if we’re more in control, then surely we can direct those feelings and emotions to where we want them to go.Unfortunately the almost opposite is true. Busy for most people is a ‘numbing’ strategy, one that stops you from not just feeling all those uncomfortable things (stress, overwhelm, exhaustion), but also stops you from experiencing the joy (excitement, delight, pleasure). In today’s episode we dive a little deeper into why feelings are so important and how allowing yourself to soften into both sides of the emotional spectrum will transform not just your relationship with busy (for good!), also your entire life—making that vision for more ease, joy, efficiency, fun and fullness easy to fulfil. For more details and shownotes, or to play catch up on previous episodes, head to http://www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode94.
Milena Regos grew up in Bulgaria, playing in nature under the stars. Moving to the U.S. she then spent 24 years in a very successful marketing career—working with “a Rolodex of clients that would make most marketer’s jaws drop” as she describes it.However, despite her thriving career, nice house, and loving husband—she felt more like she was living a “nightmare”.She’s since switched her life to focus on deep joy instead of momentary joy and is on a mission to help stressed out entrepreneurs and overwhelmed leaders challenge the status quo and begin a new way of living and working. The ‘unhustle’ way.We talk about what happens when you have no time for joy, Milena’s digital detox turning point, and how to reset and realign ourselves with what really matters, and so much more! For more details and shownotes, or to play catch up on previous episodes, head to http://www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode93.
If you’re someone who LOVES being busy – it gives you that sense of satisfaction, productivity and achievement – then this episode is for you!We can be quick to lump everything into one category, and our definitions of what ‘busyness’ really means to us can keep us stuck in patterns that aren’t really serving us.However, when we can get clear on the parts of busy we love, and the parts that weigh us down, then we’re onto a sustainable success strategy! In this episode I talk about how busy actually has different ‘archetypes’ and how you can start to get to know your very own; why this matters; and how defining your versions of busy will support you to create even more success and joy in your life. For more details and shownotes, or to play catch up on previous episodes, head to http://www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode92.
In Season 5 of the podcast I shared parts of my personal story – how I reached a burn out point, had to get comfy with ‘alone time’ and slowing down, and ultimately the seeds that were planted to shift my career direction entirely. There were twists and turns and everything I learnt along the way I still practice to this very day to stay free from busy and instead full of calm, ease and joy. In this special BONUS episode of the podcast, I’ve strung together all five parts that were shared in Season 5 into one mega episode. For those of you who love long-form conversations and want to hear all the nitty gritty details in one listen, this is the episode for you. Enjoy! Ann Moller spent years feeling like she didn’t quite fit in. As a deeply sensitive soul she says it felt like a film of cellophane was separating her from others and she longed for it to disappear so she could connect from her heart. She knew she’d found one of her places to do that when stepping into a theatre setting felt effortless. Since then she’s gone on to explore decades of experience and training in creativity, personal growth, spirituality and entrepreneurship fields. In this episode Ann shares straight from her heart how she began that process of trusting in her ‘north star’, feeling in to what felt good to her, and becoming who she is today. We talk about everything from being gentle with our emotions, to what an acting career has taught her, to shifting our states from expectations to wants. This is a deep, heart-led conversation and I can’t wait for you to journey with us.For more details and shownotes, or to play catch up on previous episodes, head to http://www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode91.
Ever felt so stuck that you just keep repeating what you’ve been doing? The confusion about what the ‘next steps’ are gets the better of you and it’s easier to return to how things are—busy. It took me a long time to truly get how caught up in the busy cycle I was, and how interrelated it was to many other symptoms that were showing up in my life—physically, mentally and emotionally. In this episode I’m sharing four key areas to focus on to get yourself unstuck fast and ways to accelerate your freedom from busy journey. For more details, or to play catch up on previous episodes, head to http://www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode90.

Finding yourself with competing priorities right now? Working from home, trying to maintain a healthy exercise routine, kids, friends, parents, business goals and dreams. One that guarantees you can still achieve all that you want, with more ease and joy. In today’s episode I’m sharing the heart of how to free yourself from busy. I talk you through some of the core principles from my new book, Freedom from Busy: Practical Strategies to Release Your Inner Control Freak and Reclaim Your Joy. I cover how our inner control freak shows up, why our emotions matter and how to start getting okay with them, and what to do when you feel like you’ve lost yourself. I noticed some hesitancy to record this episode. As Part 5 in my personal Freedom from Busy journey, it was the point at which I really started to tune into what I really wanted. Made decisions that felt good to me. And trusted in the process to unfold. And, sharing this whole series with you all has felt even more vulnerable—as it didn’t all come smoothly. However I trust that by sharing this with you, it’ll unlock something powerful in your own journey. Speed it up. Give you an aha. Allow you to give yourself permission to fully shine and reclaim your joy. In Part 5 I go from sinking fully into coffee dates with myself and honouring the power of more space in my life, to questioning what I really want. I talk about tuning into what your body is telling you, questions to ask that’ll prompt a clear next step, and how I finally made my dream to live in London happen. In the next episode I’ll walk you through some of the tools and practices I share in my book, Freedom from Busy, which you can check out here: www.freedomfrombusy.com. This is the one where I started dating myself. The next segment of my personal “freedom from busy” journey starts in a doctor’s room, balling my eyes out. After a big realisation in a coaching session, there was no going back, I had to follow through. Sometimes making the changes that we know are right for us, doesn’t always feel easy or comfortable. It was terrifying to take those next few steps—but each time I did, there was also deep relief in my body. Signed off on stress leave, I was alone for the first time in a long time. And it was time to learn how to be by myself, with no agenda, no busyness to keep me company. I started taking myself on coffee dates, and that’s where everything changed. You’ll have to tune in to find out the full story.
I have a confession to make. I’ve been hiding. Well, kind of. I made a commitment to you all a few months ago, promised podcast episodes and to finish my personal story of “freeing myself from busy”. But, I stalled. And then I stalled again. In this episode I’m coming to you open hearted about all the fumbles, failings and fears that come up along the pathway to truly letting our light shine. How those things you think you’re afraid of are really just the excuses, and if you’re willing to go deeper you’ll unfold all that change you’ve been craving in your life. I’ll share more about what it takes to keep showing up for yourself, the *truth* behind my procrastination with this season of the podcast, and how our relationship with busy (and joy!) is the key to giving ourselves what we really, truly want in our lives. This one’s honest, unstructured and heart-led. And I can’t wait to hear what insights you take away.**My new book, Freedom From Busy, is launching on 22 January. You can preorder your Kindle copy now, and paperback will be available on the launch day. Check out www.freedomfrombusy.com for all the details. I found myself on a weekend away, feeling so inspired and held, yet in tears. I signed up for 6 free coaching sessions and walked away with what would change my life. Part 3 of my “Freedom From Busy” journey, in this episode I share more about how I started to explore the next steps in my career path, to try and soften some of the stress and anxiousness I’d been feeling. Little did I know, I’d walk away from this weekend having redirected the rest of the year entirely. And, planting seeds for a pathway I didn’t even know existed at the time. If you’ve ever felt so stuck you couldn’t possibly imagine what those next steps could even look like for you, this episode will give you light. I get asked lots of questions about why I do what I do. Or how I “got here”. To be honest, they’re my favourite kind of questions because I just love hearing people’s stories myself. I love hearing how the dots all make sense looking backwards. I love hearing the different “choose your own adventure” pathways that people take and the mix of life that comes together to bring them to this moment right now. So this episode is a little different to usual - the first in a series where I’m sharing my journey in response to these Qs. I’m giving a little insight into my own adventure. And a flavour for why I’m where I am right now. And, how I got to be “here”. My intention is that by reading about my journey something sparks in you to feel like your adventure is just as fun. And, most importantly, to show you what’s possible when you free yourself from busy and reclaim your joy. For more details and shownotes: www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode83.

When was the last time you stopped to celebrate your progress? To take in everything you have achieved – regardless of how you feel right now, I promise you, you have achieved plenty! What gets in the way of us celebrating and acknowledging ourselves? Busyness. Last month, the Let It Shine podcast celebrated it’s 1st Birthday! That’s a big deal and something to feel proud and excited about. While I didn’t stop on the day itself to celebrate, I did reach out to some of the show’s previous guests and asked them to pop back on with some advice. I asked them one question: What advice do you have for freeing yourself from busy? And I LOVE how they all responded. If you have ever felt squeezed, pulled in all directions, or the inner pressure start to rise – this episode is for you. In celebration of Let It Shine’s birthday, this episode is a montage of expert advice and inspiration for you all. You’ll hear from busy mamas, wellness experts, authors and mindset coaches – all who choose to live and lead their lives from a place of joy. Be sure to check out each guest’s individual stories from previous episodes, and additional resources, over at www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode 81.

Have you got shiny object syndrome? Or maybe you feel like you need to be always-on to get ahead in your business and life? There is another way. One that allows you to optimise your energy, make better decisions, and increase your capacity for joy. Today’s guest has had a profound impact on how I show up for myself and my business. Integrating her cyclical tracking and #doless systems took me from a state of scattered and unsure, to decisive, confident and consistently energised in my business (and life). Kate Northrup has built a 7-figure business multimedia educational platform, written bestselling books, and even created a “Do Less” ecosystem, from her Do Less Planner, to her programs and Origin Membership group. However it wasn’t all easy, nor did it come with a very “do less” way at first. She shares in this episode how she went from “playing business” and wanting to “look” successful, to being grounded in her body and expanding her capacity for ease, joy, and success. Here’s what we talk about: * how Kate approached business when she first started out (age 18) * the turning point she had, and what she had to come face to face with * what overgrown ferns can teach us about energy and success * questions to ask yourself when feeling overwhelmed * how to do priority things on days when you really don’t want to * better ways to handle uncomfortable moments in our lives * the power of preventative scheduling * and so much more! I love Kate’s super practical, honest ways of optimising how she wants to feel in her life. She’s on a mission to support ambitious women to light up the world without burning themselves out. And I’m so excited to introduce her to you today. Kate’s offering her most valuable free experience, Right Thing, Right Time—where you can learn her exact system for cyclical energy tracking, so you too can change the way you relate to work and time forever. I’ve signed up already, and you can too at www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/kate. For more details and episode shownotes: www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode79.
I had tears pricking my eyes and my heart was swollen after this recording this conversation. The three women you will hear from today have had varied experiences of change this year. From adjustments in running their own business, to managing experiments in a lab through lockdown restrictions, being furloughed from work, and reconsidering if now really is the best time to resign. Dima Mekdad, Daniela Nofal and Halima Salim joined Joy Club when it was birthed earlier this year with nothing more than a short voicenote from me saying “want to come together and focus on joy with all this change going on right now?”. And I love how eagerly they committed to coming together in community, without even really knowing what it would look or feel like. They continually showing up for themselves, to being curious about change no matter how uncomfortable it feels, and to honouring a practice of joy in their lives. I asked them to come and share some of their “joy journey” and what their experience has been through Joy Club. We talk about: * the difference between joy and happiness * how joy changes and evolves over time * what listening to your body can give you * self care versus productivity * their favourite ways to connect back into joy, no matter what kind of day they’re having Joy Club enrolment opens this week. For someone who has built a highly successful business into the definitive voice for the business of wellness, you might expect today’s guest to have always known what she wanted, or at least have had an elaborate plan to create it. Yet Lauren Armes, founder of Welltodo, is quick to share that getting to a place of doing her heart’s work didn’t come quickly. Lauren spent the early part of her career undecided what to study, if she’d even like it, and eventually finding herself in a role in a manufacturing firm. It was the exposure to the variety of business areas that kept her creative, entrepreneurial mind busy and growing for years. But when her comfort started to set in, she knew she needed a change. While Lauren is now seen as an expert in the wellness industry—helping experts and coaches to “make a mark, make an impact, and make money”—in this podcast episode you get to hear more of her personal journey. The decisions she made along the way, and the beliefs and attitude it took to continue to thrive in her business and life. We talk about: * not knowing what you want to be, but being willing to try * getting uncomfortable and finding beauty in the “not knowing” * the analytical brain vs heart balance when it comes to decision-making * Lauren’s mindset of trusting that things will work out * how she finally got to her “clarity moment” and found her heart’s work * finding joy in your challenges And plenty more. This episode will give you insight and inspiration to trusting and owning your own expertise. For more details, episodes and shownotes: http://www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode76.
Loving all things witchy, enchanted and fantastical, Sara Walka didn’t always “fit in” as a kid. She says she was told she was “wise beyond her years” and while that felt right, after a while it also felt like she didn’t belong. Gradually pulling away from all she knew, to do instead what she though she “should” do, led her to an meltdown. Sara shares in this episode how she took that meltdown, and a seemingly “wobbly” career path – from selling candy and being on the road, to grad school and teaching, to advocating for children with special needs – into everything that she now does. Showing up as her full, magical self now, and supporting thousands of other women to lean into their intuition, conjure joy and make everyday magic through her business, The Sisters Enchanted. We could all do with a little more magic in our lives, and Sara’s here to inspire you to find more of yours. We talk about: * not fitting in as a kid and feeling like you don’t belong * how Sara’s “meltdown” reconnected her to her knowing * the things we do to feel accepted * finding the clarity moments to know what to do next * how we all have an inner knowing, and what to do to listen to yours And so much more! How much time do you spend considering what it is you actually want in your life? Chances are that even if you do ponder this at times, you tend to block yourself from “going too far”. We have this tendency to focus on all the symptoms that make our life feel challenging – the stress management, the time management. Which can cloud us when it comes to making decisions about what we really want. This conversation starter is about a critical theme that has the power to transform your relationship with yourself, your loved ones, and support you to ditch your stress (and busyness) entirely. In this episode I invite you to get curious and explore: * what it is you most desire, and how often you really consider this * blocks to feeling good and how to start to remove them * considering you feeling good as a powerful way to charge your energy and clarity in your life All so you can strengthen your feel-good muscles. When you’re so busy being strong and achieving, the richness of life that comes from the ordinary moments can slip by unnoticed. For Tamu Thomas, that busyness turned into increasing anxiety and panic attacks, leading her to realise she was living her life “upside down”, always putting herself last. Having come from 15 years in social work, she was knowledgeable enough to know things had to change – but how she went about it was not as you might expect. Tamu is now a trauma-informed somatic and holistic life coach, specialising in supporting women approaching their 40s and beyond to transition into their midlife feeling safe, calm and peaceful. In this episode of the podcast, Tamu shares deeply about the lessons she’s learned, from experiences as a child, through to her adult career and transition to her business, Three Sixty. We talk about: * the shift she felt when she took time to slow down and focus on her everyday joys * why we’re so used to feeling fear and how to welcome in more joy * why Tamu chose to educate herself and listen to her body, instead of the prescribed talking therapy approach * how her experience of grief helped her expand her capacity for joy, and why tending to and befriending your feelings is so important For more details, episodes and shownotes: www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode70.
I tried something new this week. And I noticed how wobbly I was! We hired long-term bicycles and took them for a spin. And instead of feeling elated and excited, I noticed how I was a little nervous and literally wobbly. In this week’s conversation starter we’re talking about finding your way in a new environment—in a way that feels good, and is as unique as you are! New things can feel hard at first. But that doesn’t mean they’re not good for us. Nor does it mean they won’t get easier over time. If things are feeling all new right now and you’re a little lost (or wobbly) – now’s the time to check in with yourself and adjust the structures you have in place to support YOU.For more details, episodes and shownotes: www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/episode69.
When we talk about being busy we tend to rattle off everything we have on our “plates”. From working late and deadlines looming through to keeping up with the housework, social schedules and exercise routines. Much of what we think of when we think “busy” is schedule related. How “full” our diaries are = how “busy” we feel. Yet what if there was a whole other side to busy that we weren’t addressing? And by not accounting for it, we could keep chasing freedom from busy without every really untangling ourselves? In today’s conversation starter I’m asking you to consider busy as a state of mind, rather than a state of your diary and over-commitments. How “busy” your mind is has a big impact on how you feel. Let’s see how we can turn more attention to strategies that release us from overthinking, just as much as we look to strategies for over-doing. Whether you’re in a job you feel restless in, or daydreaming about the beach house you want to live in – if you want a shortcut to creating your life the way you want it, this episode is for you. Denise Duffield Thomas (@denisedt) wasn’t always “rich”. When she spent almost a decade living in London, she didn’t even own a winter coat. She has plenty of stories of starting businesses as a kid, from making bracelets to selling manure and leading the Cool Kids Club (inspired by The Babysitters Club). And while not all of these ventures “worked out” they planted the seeds for dreams she’s continued to bring to life since. Denise is now the money mentor for the new wave of online entrepreneurs who want to make money and change the world. She helps women charge premium prices, release the fear of money and create First Class lives. Her books and Money Bootcamp have helped thousands of women globally to reclaim their dreams and live abundantly. And she takes a very “chilled” approach to doing so as you’ll take away from this episode. Full of anecdotes that’ll shift you out of self-doubt mode, Denise shares insights for bringing your dreams to life and the incremental changes you can make right now to actually feel good in your life. We talk about: * what Denise used to carry around with her to fuel her dreams when she was stuck in jobs she didn’t like * what you can tell yourself to get out of your stuck mindset and feel free * what birthday cakes have to do with your dreams, and why you should be talking about them out loud * easing your stress the easy way (it has something to do with bumbags aka fanny packs) * the little things you can start doing now to make big progress Plus – Denise shares her next big dream right at the end, and it’s one of my favourites! This episode is about wholeheartedly claiming your dreams and giving yourself permission to go after them. Denise and I can’t wait to hear all about your secret dreams. It’s easy to feel joyful on your most stressfree days. To “choose” to do something that feels good. But what about those challenging days? Or when your best friend is going through a really tough time? Is it okay to still choose joy?Too often the moment we start to feel good about ourselves, or our lives, an inner resistance shows up. A “guilt” for our joy.Your joy is your birthright. It’s there to be your foundation. Your strength and your pathway. The more you choose it, the more it overflows to those around you too. In today’s conversation starter you’ll hear 5 reasons why you should drop your joy guilt immediately. For full shownotes: www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/podcast.
If you tend to get caught up in overthinking and worrying what you “should” or shouldn’t do, today’s episode is a must for you.Having shuffled around shelter homes, moved to the other side of the world at age 18, divorced a few years later, and moved again to a foreign country with no qualifications, it could be easy to question how Susie Moore has kept her inherent positivity and joyful attitude to life.Susie is a former sales director and adviser for start-ups in Silicon Valley, now a life coach and advice columnist for some of the world’s biggest media outlets. Her work has been featured in many prominent and well respected places from Oprah through to the Today Show and Time Inc.Yet it was her down to earth and poignant commentary in a webinar that reeled me in and why I rushed to buy her latest book, Stop Checking Your Likes, and wanted her on the show. She’s been obsessed with mastering the “confidence game” as she puts it, since she was a kid and its her mission to help more and more people live an approval free life.I crammed in a lot of questions in this conversation because I really wanted you to hear her “can’t argue with that” insights for, as Susie puts I, straight up loving your life.We talk about: · Susie’s childhood desire to bring the joy and how she realised it’s the only way · the laziness of cynicism, and how happiness is a such a success attractor · why we need more willingness to be uncomfortable · an instant short-circuit for self-doubt and worry about what others think of you (it’s my favourite part of Susie’s book!) · why trying to be anything but ourselves is exhausting (and how to stop holding back) · the relationship between pleasure and worthinessJust try to walk away from this episode without a spring in your step. For full shownotes: www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/podcast.

Usually at this time of year I do a mid-year review. It’s one of my favourite things to do! A mini stocktake of how things are going so far and reignition of what I most want to create in my life. So often we’re busy chasing that we forget to integrate. While I’ll most definitely still be doing the review, it feels like this year I have been feeling like I needed a few more weeks to marinate. To let even more bubble to the surface. What matters most? What’s working? What’s not? I’ll be paying even closer attention to the feelings invoked when I answer those questions for myself. (Like the ones I felt the moment I read those three words). I’m not sure if I’m ready to fully emerge from my cocoon yet. I do know when I am, I’ll be clearer than ever before of where I most want my time and energy to go. Communities, places, people, conversations, solitude, moments that invoke deep gratitude, love and yearning. That’s where I'll be going. Where will you be when you emerge? In today’s episode I share why sitting with some of the uncertainty is actually part of the planning and creative process. And, if you’re looking for more clarity to start emerging and getting clear on “what next” come join me for my Mid Year Review Masterclass. I have so much to say about this episode that I’m left kinda stumped as to where to start. The woman I’m about to introduce you to is special for many many reasons. I’ve witnessed her transformation and dedicated commitment to her dreams for twenty years now, and yet there’s something even more magical happening right now. The more she has “jumped in” the more of her light you see. Noriko Clarke left Japan at the young age of 15 years old, to study abroad in Australia and well, never returned. A mama to two gorgeous girls, fashion and graphic designer, and expat mother’s coach—she really is seemingly “doing it all” now. She’s more passionate than ever before about her dream to support women, who like her may have never really considered how to integrate the challenges and joys of raising a bilingual and bicultural family, whilst navigating the internal dialogues of am I doing this right? For a while there, she felt like she had lost herself. Noriko shares in this conversation from a vulnerable place – we go deep, quickly. We’ve known each other for so long, it’s hard not to. And what I love so much is that this was a whole new experience for her, something she’s never done before and yet she jumped straight in. A theme we talk lots about throughout the episode—about how having that strong dream has fuelled her no matter what, how her beliefs of figuring it out and never stopping learning have kept her sane and energised despite periods of immense challenge (learning a new language, motherhood and losing her father), and why one of the most transformative lessons came when she decided she needed more time for herself. Please show her some love and tag her @norikoclarkeofficial on social or leave a review on any podcast listening app to let her know what it means to you to hear her story. Do you ever find yourself in a loop of the same thinking? You keep asking yourself the same questions over and over again, but can’t seem to come up with any new answers? And then you’re stuck, for days, weeks even, feeling frustrated with yourself. Or, there’s a big decision to make in your life and you can’t seem to do anything about it. Instead you stay stuck in overthinking mode, believing it will eventually lead the way. This is a conversation we had recently in my Joy Club. Overthinking. How it gets us stuck, frustrated and forgetting about the importance of our dreams and feeling good. This episode will help you stop the gnawing feeling in your belly, all that procrastination, and even give you back your control. I share how overthinking can show up more during times of change and uncertainty, and how to handle these periods of transition in a more sustainable (and joyful) way. Specifically I give 4 tips on getting out of that state quickly and creating easy momentum. For more details see shownotes over at www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/podcast

I shared this blog post a few months ago about me sitting on my couch in the full sunshine feeling so calm and peaceful, only to be interrupted by this gross sewerage smell. I wanted to get all irritated, frustrated and angry about it. Quickly my mood and emotional response was shifting from calm and peaceful to cranky. I realised that I could have both. I could feel a bit frustrated and also still maintain that sense of peacefulness. I couldn’t not feel happy sitting in the sun, and yet there was still some discomfort. In this episode I share 5 strategies for holding all the emotions – the positive and the negative – at the same time. Our emotions are how we experience our life. The more we can welcome in all of them the fuller our lives become. And I know that’s what you want for yourself. It’s also a topic Nancy Jane Smith and I dive into in more detail on her podcast The Happier Approach. Look out for the episode later this month. And in the meantime come sign up for my emails to get all the extra details (I promise my emails will make you feel good). >>> www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/weekly.
I am fascinated by stories. How people connect the dots from seemingly unrelated parts of their journey. And how they choose to create something that feels joyful and fulfilling to them in their lives. Halima Salim is an inspiring example of choosing curiosity and gratitude above all else. Somalian by birth, moving to the UK as a refugee at age nine, with no prior schooling – Halima went on to be the first in her family to graduate from university. She’s taught English for over ten years, and built an incredibly successful and engaged following (of over 25,000 followers) in two years. We talk a lot about how important it is to “take full responsibility” for your life, what that really means, and how to develop a stronger relationship with yourself. Halima has recently launched a new business venture, supporting other online businesses to build and create engaged communities, harnessing the power of social media. Her eagerness to keep pushing her own boundaries, to implement fast change for herself and prioritise her mindset is magnetic. For more details see shownotes over at www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/podcast
I got asked this question recently. And it’s a common theme in many of my coaching sessions – how can we feel more confident in our lives? For me, confidence is much more about creating a sense of certainty within ourselves. Rather than it being a skill that we need to ‘develop’. Confidence comes from knowing yourself, and (yep, I’m saying it again!) how things make you feel. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking “I need to be more confident” this episode will give you a new perspective for creating that change. For more details see shownotes over at www.thedaisypatch.co.uk/podcast
Marta Perales made me smile from the moment I first had contact with her. She responded to a message I left in a business group I’m part of so promptly and with so much joy it was infectious. Having left a successful corporate career in IT, Marta returned to a hobby that had been along her side for almost 20 years. Taking what she says “filled her heart” and creating a photography business. In this episode she shares a powerful story about how even though she was following her heart, she hadn’t fully allowed herself to be seen. And how it took a lot of bravery to see herself as beautiful. Now she creates stunning boudoir photos to support women to see themselves in a way they’ve never seen before – and to realise too, that they’re already beautiful. We talk about that craving for wanting more in your life, finding the things that excite you, and not letting comparison get in the way.
