Friends, welcome to the next edition of the ESOA Podcast. With my guest today, the name definitely says it all, especially when it comes to his musical contribution to us. But this should not be seen as a monologue, because his roots and his spectrum are definitely wider and more broadly structured. His roots are located somewhere in the area of Depeche Mode and Anne Clark. As far as his own work is concerned, it can't be pigeonholed. On the surface you might think he's all about techno, acid, electronica or drum & bass, but in depth he experiments with software or hardware in both the old school and the future. From danceable hard, industrial to playful electro and ambient. He is a Musician, Producer, Liveact and DJ. Comes also from Dresden like my Guest before. Fortunately, he fulfils my wish with a classic acid set for us here. Friends, look forward to the next two hours of the finest acid sound. Here is ESOA Podcast 076 by Clemens Acidus. Have a great time with it.

WE ARE BACK! Welcome to Season 2 of The Talegate Podcast!! Oh, and please excuse that radio interference (it's the second time that's happened). Not sure what that was about or who SQX Monster Radio is, but it's something we are investigating. We've crossed the Louisiana state line into the Lone Star State -- Lake Worth, Dallas, to be exact. We've picked up a mysterious hitchhiker who relays the haunting and tragic tale of The Lady of White Rock Lake. This local ghost story was first written by Anne Clark in 1943, published by Texas Folklore Society in their, Backwoods to Border anthology, and has endured centuries of scaring the pants off of Texans ever since; such as in Frank X's novel, Neiman-Marcus, Texas: The Story of the Proud Dallas Store which was published precisely one decade later. Kay-Leigh Hill, the Lady of White Rock Lake, is voiced by actress, Kate Brittain. You can follow Kate on Instagram @little.brittain. You can also catch Kate in March 2022 at the Imperial Centre in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, in the Andrew Lloyd Webber's Whistle Down the Wind. You can check us out on Spotify, Apple, Listen Notes, Deezer, Podchaser, Audible, iHeart Radio, and other podcast directories as well as right here on our very own website. We encourage you to share our podcast with others, leave reviews on Apple Podcast, and catch up with any episodes you missed! It would really mean a lot.Give us a follow on Instagram @thetalegatepodcast. From punk to new wave and beyondIn Part 2 of this podcast with Anne Clark, she talks about her first album, The Sitting Room, and the success she had in the 80s with David Harrow's music on the next three albums that spawned Sleeper in Metropolis and Our Darkness. She also talks about some more recent aspects of her career, and although this interview is in-depth, we didn't have enough time to come fully up to date which I hope we'*ll be able to do in the near future. Anne's early lifeAnne Clark, a poet who delivers her poetry within a world of experimental music, remains one of the great pioneers in her field. Her first album The Sitting Room was released in 1982. This was followed by three albums, Changing Places (1983), Joined up Writing (1984), and Hopeless Cases (1987), where she was joined by David Harrow, author of the music and producer. The singles, Sleeper in Metropolis, and Our Darkness became staples of the 1980s, and remain two of the great tracks of that era. In Part 1 of this two-part interview, Anne talks about her early family life, and how those experiences have former her. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

After learning about Prof. Clark's background and academic work, we had a chance to dive into details around winter Crow roost and strategies for accurate counting of the Crows. Prof Clark shared her methodologies for counting in blocks, preferred times for making counts, the relevance around orders of magnitude, using photography, having counting team members in place, vantage points, and recording tools for documenting purposes. Anne Clark: a behavioral ecologist broadly interested in the evolution and ecology of animal social behavior. In addition to other research, she has spent time over the last 20 years, researching the social ecology of American crows in suburban Ithaca, NY. Ongoing studies with her wonderful grad and undergrad students include genetics, communication, learning and personality. The advent of West Nile Virus in our long-term study population of crows has added a focus on social and demographic effects of injury and disease for me, my collaborator, Dr. KJ McGowan (Cornell Lab of Ornithology), and former students Dr. D. Robinson (Mount St. Mary's College) and Dr. A. Townsend (Hamilton College). Her current students have extended crow research to new species: Fish Crows, Mariana Crows and Large-billed Jungle Crows. At Binghamton University, I teach classes in “Animal Behavior”, “Primate Behavioral Ecology” and “Behavior and Disease” plus diverse graduate seminars.

Today I'm super excited, because I get to talk to somebody really awesome and I also get to fan-girl all over the place! I'm going to be talking to Georganne Bell, who I know a bit better as Lilaloa, from lilaloa.com. Listen in today, to find out all about this amazing Cookie Legend. Georganne is from a military family. She's also a mom of four kids, all under the age of ten- which makes her legendary in my mind! She wrote the Cookie Companion book, which came with its own set of cookie cutters and she's also made custom cookie cutter designs for Anne Clark. She's a Cookie Con presenter, she was the Cookie Connection Educator of the Year in 2015, she's a Craftsy instructor, she teaches in-person classes and she also manages to run a blog, pretty much full time and, basically, she's really an all around Cookie Goddess! For those of you who don't know, she started out as a cake baker and then ditched that for cookies. Listen in and find out about Georganne's amazing career in baking and also how Cookie-ers actually make money. Show highlights: Georganne's transition (which really hasn't actually happened yet) from baking as a hobby to it becoming a full-time business gig for her. How Georganne doesn't really feel legit with what she's doing... she somehow thinks that for a business to really be legit, you have to hate it. What it would take for Georganne to do a custom order. Where Georganne's main source of income comes from- a toss up between live classes and the advertising on the blog itself. Is blogging really is a way to make money?- Georganne was making just over $1 per month after her first three months and then just over $20 after her first year. The amount of time and effort that goes into blogging, so to make it, you really just have to keep on showing up consistently, until the return eventually comes...maybe... Georganne's experience of growing her blog, while growing her kids. The three areas that allow for Georganne to feel valued and whole, as a person – her family, her church and her cookie community. Georganne's struggle to balance her time, so that her kids get the best of her and not just the left overs. The importance of being flexible when you're a working parent. If you really want something, do it! You really can be so much more than you are right now! The issues that cookie-ers have that cake bakers don't. How cookie-ers get around the money making issue. Getting over the weirdness of marketing yourself and your product. The best and the worst parts of what Georganne does. The love or the money? Finding the balance.
