Louisiana Tech vs. UAB Pick Prediction 11/6/2021 by Tony T. Louisiana Tech at UAB—Louisiana Tech has failed to cover all four of their Conference USA teams. In the conference the Bulldogs averaging only 15.8 points per game. Austin Kendall completing 60.2% of his throws in conference with three touchdowns and four picks. Defensively Louisiana Tech has struggled to defend the pass giving up 278 yards, 67.7% passing and 7.2 yards per pass attempt. UAB the better defensive team that holds Conference USA opponents to 241 yards and 12.5 points per game. Blazers quarterback Dylan Hopkins past two games averaged 10.3 yards per pass attempt to Rice and 11.3 against Southern Miss. Play UAB -13.5.
North Texas vs. Louisiana Tech Pick Prediction 9/25/2021 by Tony T. North Texas at Louisiana Tech—Free pick is Louisiana Tech -11. North Texas has not been able to improve that offense. In their two FBS games the Mean Green were held to 6 points to UAB in a 34 points loss and 12 points to SMU in a loss by 23. North Texas quarterback Jace Ruder is completing 56.5% of his passes as the team throws for 5.8 yards per attempt. The Mean Green defense is allowing five yards per carry on the ground. Louisiana Tech the better offensive team. Bulldogs transfer quarterback Austin Kendall is completing 60.6% of his passes as the team throws for 290 yards per game with 8.2 yards per pass attempt. North Texas pass defense has been poor as they surrender 9.6 yards per throw. Play Louisiana Tech -11.

West Virginia's football team ended its most improbable season with a bowl victory on the last day of a year that no one will forget. The Mountaineers erasing an 11-point second-half deficit was a major accomplishment, but to do that with quarterback Austin Kendall who had not appeared in a game in 110 days, will go down as one of the all-time memories in Mountaineer bowl history. Kendall successfully led two touchdown drives while WVU's defense held Army's vaunted running game to 100-yards below its season average. On this episode the "Guys" dissect a rainy night in Memphis and what it means to the WVU program now and in the future. Join the crew again on Tuesday for a recap of the Mountaineer basketball team's two-game road trip to Oklahoma and the latest on the departure of Oscar Tshiebwe.

Ryan Aber and Joe Mussatto talk about the Sooners' early kickoff times this season, Austin Kendall's return to Norman, and Saturday's game against West Virginia.
In the opening take, Grant explains that like it or not -- OU's defense now has expectations. Then Lee joins immediately as we discuss the news that Austin Kendall is going to start Saturday against the Sooners before discussing the eery similarities between this game and the 2017 home game vs. Iowa State (2:00). We go through some offensive news and notes of the week including Grant Calcaterra's status, Adrian Ealy and Erik Swenson looking good, Trey Sermon's role vs. Texas (7:00). Defensive news and notes include Roy Manning's impact on the corners, the lack of takeaways, Lincoln Riley not overreacting to defensive success, Lee's stupid theory about the defense that's not really a theory, and an update on Robert Barnes (11:40). Lee was dead wrong about Robert Barnes, but at least both guys were at the forefront of the Neville Gallimore is going to be good train (21:55). We talk about Jalen Hurts' press conference style and his bandaged throwing hand (23:45). Lee's not concerned about a let down game anymore because Jalen Hurts probably won't let OU take WVU lightly (26:15). Grant thought it was funny that Hurts wasn't paying attention to Mike Defee (28:35). We get into West Virginia's offense against OU's defense as Lee gives his initial thoughts (30:00). Grant's got some interesting numbers that suggest WVU's defense is pretty bad (33:05). Grant goes over some of the WVU players that OU may or not be concerned about and Lee points out that WVU's secondary may be in trouble Saturday (37:55). Flipping it to WVU's offense where Lee doesn't really know what he's talking about, so Grant jumps in and crushes the Mountaineers. At least Lee has a play or two he saw that could showcase OU's defense (41:40). We field some of your questions and comments from Facebook about the defense. You all want to see more havoc, and some are concerned about a Red River hangover (46:30). Lee says what he *wants to see* this Saturday (53:20) followed by what Grant wants to see (56:45). Thinking of laying the 33.5 points? Well, the guys tell you what *will happen* when OU plays WVU (59:40). Grant thinks this is a lost season for Baker Mayfiled and Lee's got some fashion advice for Freddie Kitchens (1:02:40). We don't have a lot to say about the Big 12 slate this week, so let's pick some games! Florida-South Carolina, Oregon-Washington, Baylor-OSU, Arizona State-Utah, and Michigan-Penn State (1:05:55). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonNews9

The coast seems clear, but guarding against a letdown continues for the Sooners as well as LSU, Ohio State, Wisconsin and others. We talk about the defense moving forward. Austin Kendall being injured and not likely to play puts a bit of a damper on all the news surrounding the Mountaineers' return to Norman. But we will be expecting a big leap forward from the OU defense after their performance against Texas. Also, does Jalen Hurts need to rebound from Texas? Or are we being too harsh? The offensive line appears good to go after it appears they are all reaching healthy status following Texas. The full rundown is below: OPEN - Austin Kendall injury puts a damper on the WVU game this weekend 0:03:15 - Jalen Hurts trolling Mike Defee after the Texas game Saturday? 0:08:15 - Is Jalen Hurts now a delight to interview? A key injury, an ejection, and the use of true freshmen will become the storyline to West Virginia's game against Iowa State. The Mountaineers were hit where they could least afford it; with injuries to quarterback Austin Kendall, cornerback Keith Washington, and the ejection of cornerback Hakeem Bailey. Those absences combined with a talented group of Cyclones proved to much. Trailing 21-14 in the fourth quarter, West Virginia succumbed 38-14 as Iowa State took control in the final period. The "Guys" share their takeaways and answer listener questions and wonder what could have been and what will the future hold. Join them again Thursday for their preview of Saturday's date at Oklahoma.
We dig deeper into Austin Kendall's performance on Saturday and whether he is the guy moving forward. Recap the Texas game and a preview of what to expect on Saturday from Iowa State.
In spite of a slow start, the Texas Longhorns played well Saturday and came away with a win over the West West Virginia Mountaineers. Sam Ehlinger did what Sam Ehlinger does, turning in a four-touchdown performance, while Roschon Johnson finished the game with 21 carries for 121 yards. Defensively, Texas was able to turn Austin Kendall over four times, including a two-interception performance from D'Shawn Jamison. Connect with the show on Twitter and Facebook. Matt, Matthias, Jake and Grant are back for another edition of the Wide Right and Natty Litecast. The guys recap what was an eventful game for the Cyclones on Saturday as Iowa State defeated TCU 42-24.Brock Purdy once again played lights out leading Iowa State all afternoon, but the offensive line was another big reason. Josh Knipfel and Bryce Meeker were recognized by Pro Football Focus and placed on their national team of the week. Matthias wants to warn everyone once again to take PFF grades lightly. Thought the improvement from Bryce Meeker was a great sign for the offensive line.West Virginia is not the high powered team that we have been used to seeing in years past. The Oklahoma transfer Austin Kendall is now in at quarterback and has been a bit turnover prone so far this season. This may be another opportunity for the Cyclone defense to get the turnover belt out.To wrap up the show, Grant talks about being intimidated by Von Miller and Ndamukong Suh. Von Miller did it on purpose and Suh just used his skill to make a plan. This story will be one for Cyclone fans to enjoy. As always thank you to our sponsor Es Tas Bar and Grill. We hope you enjoy the show.
West Virginia doesn't feel like it was that far away from a different outcome Saturday, and the stats and the scoreboard don't completely disagree. Texas won 42-31, but the Mountaineers know turnovers, missed field goals and some iffy defense at inopportune times were too much to overcome against the talented Longhorns. This episode explores all of that, plus Neal Brown's aggressive defense of Austin Kendall, whether WVU should be encouraged and how the rest of the month looks. Learn more about your ad choices. The decision has been made. Austin Kendall, the quarterback who once started a game against West Virginia, will be West Virginia’s starting quarterback in the season opener against James Madison. Coach Neal Brown’s announcement was the highlight of a comprehensive overview of his team during Tuesday’s press conference, which signals the end of preseason camp. Brad Howe, Hoppy Kercheval and Tony Caridi break down the much anticipated quarterback decision and dive into other personnel news and notes.

West Virginia quarterback Austin Kendall met with the media inside the team room at Milan Puskar Stadium earlier today.
Welcome back ya'll!!! We are happy to be back with our first show of 2019. Its that time of year where we look at the season that was, the moves that have been made, and what we can expect this spring. Starting things off for no reason other than they finished first, the Sooners! Joining us is the always generous Alex from TFB Sooners. We look back a little at the playoff game, then quickly get to the good news. We talk salaries, hires, Jalen Hurts, Austin Kendall, this ridiculous recruiting class and much much more! Thanks for joining us and up next will be the Jayhawks!
In the opening take, Lee has some thoughts on new OU Cornerbacks Coach Roy Manning. Then Grant joins to talk about how he may freeze to death in Minnesota before acknowledging that this is our 100th episode of the show (6:45). Jalen Hurts is the top transfer QB of the offseason -- no surprise. But who's the 2nd best transfer? The guys definitely don't think it's Kelly Bryant (9:15). The guys transition into a Drew Lock discussion and rip on NFL talent evaluators (16:00). Are Kyler Murray and Dwayne Haskins the only two QBs teams should be looking at in the 1st Round of the draft (20:15)? The guys go over the rest of the notable transfer QBs including Jacob Eason, Justin Fields, and Brandon Wimbush (24:00). Austin Kendall's dad talked to a West Virginia newspaper giving their side of the story on the transfer situation (31:40). Lee finds it fishy that the article is vague about how the news of OU blocking Kendall's immediate eligbility leaked to the media (33:25). We're both incredibly excited to see how Neville Gallimore fits into Alex Grinch's defensive system (39:45). Looking back at Grinch's Wazzu defense to get some clues on how Gallimore may be used (43:50). The guys talk about Michael Thompson and the rumors that he may be switching from defense to offense (49:10). Grant is interested to see how Kenneth Mann is utilized in this new scheme (52:40). We touch a little bit prematurely on the JACK LB spot before going over the DL depth (55:35). We spend the rest of the podcast talking about the Super Bowl. Topics include: Grant's evolution on Tom Brady, it's dumb to think Brady will retire anytime soon, Pat Mahomes made a ridiculous throw in the AFC Championship, is Brady or Belichick more vital to the Pats success?, and SB picks (1:04:00). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonNews9

In the opening take, Grant explains the Sooners are fortunate to get Jalen Hurts for the 2019 season. Then Lee joins and triggers Grant right off the bat with OU's 2007 loss to Texas Tech (6:00). We move on to more pressing topics like Austin Kendall's transfer from OU. Lee establishes a timeline of events. Lincoln Riley told Kendall to enter the portal, so what does that mean (9:00)? Lincoln Riley tells his side of the story in regards to blocking Kendall's immediate eligibility at WVU (21:50). Lee's thoughts on this story have evolved over the past week (26:00). Grant points out this story is incredibly complex and too many people treated it in a black & white manner. Grant is straight fire during this whole discussion in which he includes a column by Pat Forde and Pete Thamel (28:55). OU had a case to block Kendall, but Grant thinks granting immediate eligibility was the right move ultimately. Grant just can't stand national writers attacking OU using terrible arguments (39:55). Lee now completely understands Riley's actions in regards to Kendall over the past week (46:00). Jalen Hurts is officially coming to OU and Lincoln Riley's got some thoughts on his new QB (53:20). **NOTE: This episode was recorded before the Brian Odom and Roy Manning news broke Tuesday night.** In the opening take, Lee really thought there was a chance Kyler Murray could come back to OU for one more season. Then Grant joins to explain why the past week's talk about Kyler Murray frustrated him (7:00). Murray's not going to play baseball right now because he's going to end up being a first round pick in the NFL Draft (11:45). Murray would make so much more money in the NFL right now compared to his A's signing bonus (16:30). Tim Kish and Kerry Cooks are out. We talk Brian Odom -- although we recorded this before his hiring was made official (19:05). We recorded before the news broke that Roy Manning was hired as cornerbacks coach (26:15). Grant is incredibly intrigued by the Sooners QB situation with Austin Kendall entering the transfer portal and Jalen Hurts rumored to come to OU (28:10). Lee doesn't think Lincoln Riley would make a decision that puts OU's QB situation in a mess (30:30). Is Tanner Mordecai better than Austin Kendall (33:10)? Grant lays out why it makes a bunch of sense for Jalen Hurts to join OU's program (35:40). Are we sure Hurts is a good quarterback (38:10)? Lee's got a good feeling about Hurts' chances of coming to OU (43:50). Both guys were dead wrong about the National Championship game, but let's be honest the way that game played out was a fluke, right (47:10)? Clemson's kill shot TD was incredibly lucky and Grant's super annoyed nobody has pointed that out (53:35). We look back at our 2018 season predictions and find out what we got right, and what we got wrong sprinkling in soundbites from some of our best and worst takes (55:15). | Like the show on Facebook: @westofeverest | Follow Grant on Twitter: @GrantBenson25 | Follow Lee on Twitter: @LeeBensonNews9

We are talking to one of the best out there when it comes to QB Coaches. Tony Ballard will join us and talk about the QBs under his tutorial. He is really producing great mean and great QBs. North Carolina now has Logan Byrd.....Jarrett Guaratano has committed to Tenn. Austin Kendall will play for the Sooners.....and so many more coming. Make sure to join us at 8pm tonight.
Coach Tony Ballard is a guy who knew in high school that one day he would become a coach, a teacher, and motivator for kids playing the Quarterback position. He learned the true meaning of working hard from Henry “SHAKE” Washington and Clarence Higdon. He also discovered a simple fact – Failure Is Not An Option!! Coach Ballard attended Florida A&M University where he learned the Quarterback position by playing and studying the fundamental techniques that make a Quarterback GREAT! He truly believes you must be a student of the game first, so that you can be a master at it later. Tony was the first head coach with the New Tampa Wildcats to win a National Championship. This is where he began to have an eye for recognizing Quarterback talent in the Tampa Bay area and when he began training young Quarterbacks. After years of experience working with Quarterbacks at all levels, he started “HUSTLE INC QUARTERBACKS CLINIC ACADEMY”.
