Every now and then, I put together shows that are all about what I’ve been listening to in my humble abode. This seems like a good time for another of these types of broadcasts. So what you have tonight is some great faves from the likes of The Damned, The Cramps, Eater, The Saints, The Undertones, and so much more. I have a set devoted to two tracks from the new Wreckless Eric album, accompanied by the original 1985 versions under the name Captains of Industry. There’s also a couple of live Replacements tracks from the new Let It Be box set. But there are also some new tracks aired tonight. Earlier this week, Brad Marino sent me his new single, “Murder and Violence”. Surely I can’t wait almost a full month to give that some airplay, right? Same with the new tune by The New Brutarians, “Tonight’s Your Night (Tonight)”, which was emailed to me just hours before the show went to air. There’s also new tunes from Kurt Baker, The Cynz, The Spackles, Vista Blue, Phil Cook & The Fall Dogs, and Faz Waltz. What tunes did you enjoy the most this week? For more info, including setlists, […]

I must admit I was of two minds about when to do this year’s special Halloween show. My first thought was that since the actual holiday falls on a Ledge night I’d just save it for that evening. Makes perfect sense, right? But then again, it’s a dated show once it hits November. Isn’t it smarter to do it a full week ahead so fans of ghoulish rock and roll can enjoy my spooky favorites for a full week? That’s what I decided to do. Like every special Halloween broadcast, tonight’s episode is full of almost all brand new tunes for the ocassion. Many are special releases for the trick or treaters, such as new singles by Vista Blue, Brad Marino, Lynda Mandolyn, and The Goldstars. Others come from full-blown Halloween albums, such as Big Stir’s Chilling, Thrilling Hooks and Haunted Harmonies and The Halloween EP by The Bacarrudas. Other tunes come from regular releases from the last few months that just happened to fit the horror theme. What tracks did you enjoy the most? It may be a new year, but it’s the same great formula for the first Friday of the month. Yes, it’s nothing but new releases for the first show of 2025, and it’s highlighted again by what we like to call “friends of the show”. White Rose Motor Oil have yet another great cover. The wonderful two-piece The Ex-Bombers have a magnificent new seven-inch single. Numb Surprise, The False Positives, Eric Hisaw Band and many others have strong new tracks. Of course, there is also the latest lineup from our friends at Rum Bar Records. Miss Georgia Peach returns with another collaboration with Nashville Pussy. The Legendary Swagger follows up their reissue of Sinners, Harlots & Hooligans with an upcoming new record, Broke And Broken. Plus, we have two tracks from Brad Marino’s new rarities album, On The Brink: Rarities, Remixed & Unreleased! For more info, including setlists, head to http://scotthudson.blogspot.com

Podcast #672 asks the obvious question, why not music from Brad Marino, Alice Cooper, Night Court, Catbells, Easy Match, Dirt Merchants, Drop Nineteens, & The Mountain Goats.
Once again, there’s so much great music being released each and every week that this month’s new release show is a two-part extravaganza! Part one is admittedly heavy on the power pop – Uni Boys, The Speedways, The Len Price 3, and many others. There’s also twin blasts from rock and roll buddies Geoff Palmer and Brad Marino, along with tracks from their friends in the Rum Bar Records family. I could go on and on about what’s included in this episode, but why don’t you just dive in and discover your new faves! As for this week’s “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks” segment, I have another unknown treat that I discovered on YouTube. This version is from “The Pauline”, and about all I have found out about this artist is that they hail from Indonesia. I’d love to know more about this musician! Like I do every week, however, I must again plead with y’all for more versions of “Teenage Kicks”. If you are a musician, or have any contact with artists that could record their own take on the classic, please contact me! For more info, including setlists, head to http://scotthudson.blogspot.com

The Ledge has always been known to enjoy music from all over the world. This month’s new release episode, however, goes ever further than usual. Yes, we have new tunes from many of the usual suspects – Canada, Australia, England, Sweden, etc. But this month we expand that a little bit and have tunes from Indonesia and Japan! (Ok, Japanese rock and roll is not so unusual in these parts, but you get the picture.) There’s also the usual mix of long-awaited returns (Uni Boys, Wreckless Eric), and new (at least to me) artists such as Hurry, Young Francis Hi Fi, and Dennis Cometti. There’s a set devoted to a trio of solo artists who have shared the stage countless times over the years (Brad Marino, Geoff Palmer, and Kurt Baker), and who always seem to have new records right around the same time. We also have a sneak peak of the upcoming Replacements box set, Tim: Let It Bleed Edition. The “cello version” of “Can’t Hardly Wait” was actually a Paul Westerberg demo with Twin/Tone secretary Michelle Kinney on cello. The box set comes out on September 22, and as you may imagine, I…ok, I won’t go with the obvious […]

I may have called part one of this month’s new release series the “friends of the show” episode, but that mentality continues in part two as we have a nice set of tracks from our friends at Big Stir Records. We also have brand new tracks from a new collaboration between Rum Bar Records artists Natalie Sweet and Brad Marino which I’m sure every Ledge listener will love. There’s also two sets of great Who covers from a new Jem Records compilation, Jem Records Celebrates Pete Townshend, along with new tunes by Lee Bains & The Glory Fires, Titus Andronicus, Pavement founder Spiral Stairs, and new supergroup Beach Rats. Plus much more! I would love it if every listener bought at least one record I played on either of these shows. These great artists deserve to be compensated for their hard work, and every purchase surely helps not only pay their bills but fund their next set of wonderful songs. And if you buy these records directly from the artist or label, please let them know you heard these tunes on The Ledge! Let them know who is giving them promotion!
