Pilate lui dit alors : A. « Tu refuses de me parler, à moi ?

Jesus cried out to the crowd, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. He called his true followers to receive “rivers of living water” in their hearts through believing in him. Someday the Lord will sort out the wheat from the tares (Matt. 13:24-43) and the good fish from the bad fish (Matt. 13:48). But until then, he continues to call us out from the crowd. We are called to be set apart, and God provides opportunities for us to stand up for Christ. Nicodemus was the most unlikely of true followers. His peer group was Jesus' staunchest critics and opponents. He first came to Jesus by night, yet now he is confronting his peers in defense of Jesus. He is a true follower, evidenced by his burial of Christ (Jn. 19:39). Jesus calls to us the same way he called to Nicodemus: Come out from the crowd! The seven men Luke names here were representatives chosen from the different regions where Paul had planted churches. They were carrying a financial gift from their churches to the poor in Jerusalem, but Paul was bringing them to Jerusalem. They were his offering, they were the fruit of his labors, and when he arrived he would go into the Temple, the place where Jesus had spoken to him commanding him to go to the Gentiles (Ac 22:21), and there he would report to Him that he had obeyed. On the day of Pentecost, as the firstfruits of the wheat harvest were being waved before the Lord to honor Him as the Source of the harvest and to declare that the harvest was holy and belonged to Him, Paul, in his heart, would present his “firstfruits,” to honor God as the Source of all that had taken place, and declaring that the entire harvest, the multiplied thousands of new believers from all around the eastern Mediterranean, belonged to Him. Yes, Paul ministered effectively among the Gentiles, and had become “all things to all men” (1Co 9:22) to reach them, but he was still a Jew inside, and this was his heart-language of worship. He wasn't performing a ritual, he was coming home. He had observed Pentecost all his life, but never had he presented such precious gifts as these. In a sense, Paul is modeling that coming day in which all of us will present to Jesus the fruit of our lives. Not as a work needed to earn our way to heaven, though being fruitless is a dangerous symptom of detachment from Christ (Jn 15:2-6), but as the tangible evidence of our love for Him. When all is said and done, the only lasting treasure we will have to offer Him will be the people whose lives we have helped to draw closer to Him.

Jesus, at the last supper strengthened his disciples, the early church, to do their mission while He goes before us to heaven at the Ascension. Jesus assures us of the reality of heaven, and of our one day, sharing with him in eternal joy. But this hope of heaven is not meant to escape from this world and it's troubles, but rather to fully engage us to labor and share in the mission of Christ helping to bring about the kingdom here on earth.
ACTS 1:8 A. The word “power” comes from the Greek word “dunamis” which also means “dynamic.” Before we were Christians the Holy Spirit was with (para) us convicting us of sin and drawing us to Christ- Jn. 16:7-8. When we became Christians the Holy Spirit was in (en) us- Jn. 14:16- 17; 20:22; 1 Cor. 3:16. The third experience of the Holy Spirit is then He comes on or upon (epi) us and overflows out of our life- Jn. 7:37-39. Flow- Grk.- Literally to gush forth. Baptize- Grk.- baptize- overflowed. When we experience Jn. 7:37-39 we become a channel through which the Holy Spirit overflows to everyone around us. 1. Example- Glass empty, glass full, glass overflowing with water. IV. THE BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT- WHEN IT HAPPENS, WHAT HAPPENS? A. We receive power to witness for Jesus and to serve Him in whatever area He asks us to. We received increased power to overcome sin. The Scripture comes more alive to us. Our relationship with God is more alive and vital. We receive spiritual gifts. When we pray to God and ask for the will. baptism of the Holy Spirit we receive it by faith (Lk. 11:11-13; Gal. 3:2, 5,13-14) just as we received Jesus Christ into our life by faith. At this time we will receive one or more spiritual gifts from God. 1. 1 Cor. 12:11- The Holy Spirit gives to each one as He determines. 1 Cor. 12:28-31- We are to eagerly desire the greater gifts. Acts 9:17-19- The evidence of the gifts may or may not be apparent immediately. It is important for us to come before the Lord to desire, to pray for, the best of whatever He has for us and to receive them by faith. Heb 2:1-4 - We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. 2 For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every violation and disobedience received its just punishment, 3 how shall we escape if we ignore such a great salvation? This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him. 4 God also testified to it by signs, wonders and various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his
Dave follows up on Matt's sermon asking him some questions about our new mini series on the fruit of the spirit. Questions asked in this podcast: How come we have to battle the flesh if Paul says in v24 that we've ‘crucified' it!?” How is walking with the Spirit connected to abiding in Christ (Jn 15)? How's it connected to sanctification? Is keeping the Lord's commands, generally, a way of keeping in step with the Spirit? Or is obedience to God's commands possible because we walk in step with the Spirit? The Spirit produces this fruit, not us. So do we have a part to play in developing the specific aspects of the fruit? Or do we just walk with the Spirit and leave the details to him? Why should we not simply think “I need to just try harder” when I see uneven fruit in my life? You've said that the fruit can't be faked, but legalism can be (as in showing up at Church etc)... how might we recognise a heart that is legalistic and is trying to fake the fruit? How can a legalistic heart make everything “black and white”? How can a licenseious heart make everything “grey”? What is the good heart in the person more drawn to legalism? What is the good heart in the person drawn towards license? How can I actually recognise if I am keeping in step with the Spirit/bearing fruit? Is it a feeling? Is it tangible? How do I get to the point where I want to “read my Bible, pray everyday?” if I'm a Christian who is not in that place? How can there be “freedom” within “boundaries” as we think about walking with the Spirit?

Paul reiterates the fact that believers in Jesus no longer live in darkness because they have been set free from sin and death (Col. 1:13). Unbelievers are blinded to the return of Christ (Jn. 3:19-21; Eph. 4:18). However, for Christians, the return of Christ is a consummation of our salvation. Therefore, we are to remain alert and watchful for Jesus's return!

Scripture: John 17:14-19 In praying for His own, Jesus asks the Father to do several things for them. He prays that the Father will keep them (Jn 17:11,15). He prays that they would experience Jesus' own joy (Jn 17:13). Next, Jesus prays that the Father would 'sanctify' believers (Jn 17:17,19). The root of the word 'sanctify' is the word for holiness. All holiness derives from God's holiness. The primary idea of 'holy' is to be unique, distinct, separate. God is utterly unique and separate from His creation. Since God is separate from His creation, He is, in turn, separate from the corruption of the creation. For a person to be sanctified or holy is to be separated unto God or aligned with God. Jesus' prayer is for believers to be separated unto God, to live in accordance with His purposes, just as Jesus kept Himself separated unto God to accomplish His purposes (Jn 17:19). The mission of this sanctification is that the world may believe in Christ (Jn 17:21,23). In one sense, Jesus' mission and the disciples' mission are the same undertaking, namely to proclaim the salvation of God in Jesus Christ. The primary means of the process of sanctification is the word of God. "Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth" (Jn 17:17). There is no aligning ourselves with God and His purposes without knowing who God is and what He has said. And there is no understanding of these things without the revelation of God in the Bible.

Ephesians 3:20-21THREE: SOUL WINNINGTO BECOME POWERFUL AND EFFECTIVE IN SOUL WINNING/MISSIONTo give yourself to the Great Commission of Christ Matthew 28; Mark 16. To seek to win as many to Christ as you can. To be laboring actively (every week) seeking to win the lost to Jesus with the power of the Holy Spirit leading. To pray for and seek the salvation of your family, work friends, school friends, your neighborhood, city, and nation to be ….to become powerful in 'global evangelism' and seeking to win the MOST…that non should perish. Believers must become powerful in the word, in the Spirit and by experience (prayer, resisting and overcoming) in spiritual warfare. Know how to be aware, alert, use your authority, have on the armor and expel demons off - out of people and see the triumph of Jesus… remember demons tremble at Jesus name and the church (believers) are to be so powerful that the 'gates of hell and all that's coming out of them cannot prevail -win over- or withstand the astounding advance of the body of Christ. Ps 23, Ps 91; Luke 10; Eph 6; 1 Peter 5:8.SIX: DELIVERANCETO BE EXPERIENCED DEFEATING AND IN EXPELLING DEMONSTo example a powerful Christ filled, Word filled, Spirit filled life with victory over the world, the flesh, and the devil…over demons and fallen angles. Jesus has given every believer the full authority to tread on, trample and command-order-demand all demons to be expelled. Expel demons from the demonized and be powerful in spiritual warfare prayer against demonic powers, rituals, astral, spells, hexes etc. To come against all dark powers and see their defeat as you win souls and help the church be strong and powerful. Luke 10:19; Colossians 2:15; I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. Matthew 16:18SEVEN: GREAT EXPLOITSTO LAUNCH OUT IN FAITH TO ACCOMPLISH THE WORKS OF JESUSAs in the book of Acts the up front and center is the mission of evangelism in the power of the Holy Spirit ...with the works of Jesus, healing, deliverance, miracles, signs, and wonders…. Jesus with us in the very work Mark 16:20. Launching out in faith trusting Jesus for all the grace, mercy, power and help that Jesus will give. To see that billions could be saved, the greatest revivals ever can come, that abortion can be abolished, the drug scourge -human trafficking- ritual abuse-corruption in government can all be prayed against with …. power to move mountains... and millions can be set free, evil can be triumphed over and a …. never backing down faith that glorifies Christ in everything will be a powerful witness. Nothing is impossible to them that believe…Jesus Luke 1:37; Eph. 3:20-21; but the people who know their God shall be strong and carry out great exploits. Daniel 11EIGHT: FIERCETO BECOME FIERCE AGAINST RADICAL EVIL AND SEEK TO DEFEAT ITTo become fierce and outraged against all radical evil that is here and that is to come. To be bold as a lion and confront evil individuals lead them to Christ .... and or see them get jailed. To rise-up and go after-against all radical evil including abortion, human trafficking, satanic ritual abuse, drug trade, corrupt government. To stand against, warn against and get people out of the grip of darkness ....and dark powers. To pray in God's power against all radical evil…. Confront it- expose it and rejoice that Jesus is coming to end all radical evil forever! Pr. 28:1; Ps 23 …walk through the valley of the shadow of Death……we will fear no evil for God is with and for us. To overcome struggles, to rise again and again in Christ knowing that His mercies are new every day. That each day counts in our growing and doing the ministry of Jesus. The Father will sharpen us to do even more. John 15; Acts 9:22.But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you.Matthew 6JOIN NOW!Yes, I want to be one of the 10 million fierce and powerful believers as stated here in the 10 points. Scripture Reading: John 6:41-51 This paragraph in John is yet another example of the mystery of human responsibility and divine sovereignty. Jesus chides these unbelieving Israelites for their grumbling. They, like most people today, imagined that Jesus was simply another human being like them. "They said, 'Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How does he now say, 'I have come down from heaven'?" (Jn 6:42). People are responsible if they do not heed Jesus' exhortation … "This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever" (Jn 6:50,51). Christ offers Himself to all eternal life. But, the corruption of the human heart is so thorough that no one wants this bread … which is Jesus Himself. "The nature of man since the fall is so corrupt and depraved that even when Christ is made known and preached to him, he will not come to Him and believe in Him without the special grace of God inclining his will and giving him a disposition to come. Moral (per)suasion and advice alone will not bring him. He must be 'drawn'" (J. C. Ryle, Expository Thoughts on John, 1:271). The inability spoken of in John 6:44 … "no one can come to me" … is the inability of desire. People do not come to Christ because they do not want Jesus. And God holds them responsible for this refusal (Jn 5:40). On the other hand, people are 'drawn' by God by His teaching them who Jesus is. And "everyone who has heard and learned from the Father comes" to Christ (Jn 6:45). People in hell have only themselves to blame. People in heaven have only God to praise.

Rev. John Lukomski, retired LCMS pastor and co-host of Wrestling with the Basics, joins host Rev. AJ Espinosa to study Revelation 2. Stars, lampstands, angels and churches: one thing is clear, these letters in Revelation 2 are not John’s private letters to select individuals, but Christ’s own words meant for the whole church. The first letter is for the church in Ephesus. They weren’t struggling with emotions, but with actions, the fruit of our faithfulness to Christ (Jn 14:15). As for Smyrna, they were beset by intense persecution, so Christ encourages them to see their spiritual splendor. Pergamum and Thyatira have demonstrated endurance and good works, but they have also tolerated immorality which threatens to destroy them (see the episode on Zechariah 3 for more on the white stone!). We see ourselves in these churches, weak in ourselves and yet conquerors in Christ.

"Come! See a man who told me everything I ever did! Could this be the Christ?" Jn 4: 29 That dear Samaritan woman! Who would have thought that she, of all people, would be history's first evangelist! But she was!@ No sooner had she found Christ herself than she was off to tell the world about Him! What an example for us today! We should all be doing what she did that day! In John 1, we see that Jesus is referred to as the Word. He was with God, in the beginning, and became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus left and sent the Spirit, and it is by that Spirit that we now give word, the expressing of the thoughts of God to the world. ( PROPHECY HAS A SIMILAR DESCRIPTION )1 Corinthians 14:1-5Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. 2For one who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men but to God; for no one understands him, but he utters mysteries in the Spirit. 3On the other hand, the one who prophesies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation. 4The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church. 5Now I want you all to speak in tongues, but even more to prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be built up.PROPHECYCognate: 4395 prophēteúō (from 4253 /pró, "before" and 5346 /phēmí, "assert by elevatingone statement over another") – properly, "speak forth" in divinely-empowered forthtelling or foretelling; prophesy. In the NT, prophesy (4395 /prophēteúō) occurs 28 times, usually of forthtelling which reveals the mind (message) of God in a particular situation. 4395 /prophēteúō ("prophesy") can also refer to foretelling, i.e. predicting the future as the Lord reveals it.Colossians 3:16 ESV“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” https://www.bible.com/59/col.3.16.esv See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
John the Baptist was a Christian. He was a follower of Christ. Jesus says, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me” ( Mt 16:24 ). So, when the priests and Levites asked John, “Who are you?” John answered, “I am not the Christ” ( Jn 1:20 ). John’s confession…
In this episode we see how that it requires The Holy Spirit for Man to know Christ. It is completely impossible for Man (even the one who is Born Again) to know Christ apart from The Holy Spirit. The passages for our text are Luke 3:21-22 and John 1:29-34 with the baptism of Jesus. We also look at John 16:13 where Jesus Himself declares the work of The Spirit of Truth, which is to guide unto all Truth Who Christ Himself is. With John the baptist we also see a spiritual order of coming to knowing Christ: 1- Confessing our ignorance of knowing Christ (Jn 1:31); 2- The Holy Spirit drawing our attention and placing it, and keeping it, upon Christ (Jn 1:32); 3- Seeing Jesus (Jn 1:34); 4- Confessing our testimony: this is The Son of God (Jn1:34). As always, If this has been a blessing, please share it with others. Freely you have received, freely give! Who are you as a Christian? Who are you in Christ? The world (and we, sometimes) limit who we are to how we behave. But who we are in Christ is so much more than what we do. Who we are in Christ is our identity, our direction, and our destiny. 1 Peter 2:4-12 – In Christ, Christians are: A Royal Priesthood – This was said of the Israelites in Exodus 19:6. You will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites.” Now it is true of Christians. • Reflect the holiness of God (1 Peter 1:15) • Offer spiritual sacrifices o Sacrifices of our bodies (living in holiness) (Romans 12:1) o Sacrifices of money or material goods (Philippians 4:18) o Sacrifices of praise to God (Hebrews 13:15) o Sacrifices of doing good (Hebrews 13:16) • Intercede for people before God (James 5:16) • Represent God before people (2 Corinthians 5:20) A chosen people – This was said of the Israelites throughout the OT. Deut 10:15 15 Yet the LORD set his affection on your forefathers and loved them, and he chose you, their descendants, above all the nations, as it is today. Now it is true of Christians. Ephesians 1:4-5 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will A holy nation – This was said of the Israelites in Exodus 19:6 (above) Romans 9:25-26 25 As he says in Hosea: “I will call them ‘my people’ who are not my people; and I will call her ‘my loved one’ who is not my loved one,” Paul quoting Hosea – in the original context these passages refer to the spiritual restoration of Israel. But Paul applies this to Gentile believers, that God is a saving, forgiving, restoring God who delights to take those who are “not my people” and make them “my people.” A people belonging to God – we were not the people of God. That title belonged to the Israelites. But now we are the recipients of God’s mercy. The phrase is literally we are God’s “possession.” The word refers to something owned, especially something that has been purchased by the owner. 1 Corinthians 6:20 You were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies Now declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Because who we are in Christ is so much more than we can even grasp. SO MUCH MORE Who we are in Christ is our identity, our direction, and our destiny. 1 Peter 2:4-12 – In Christ, Christians are: A Royal Priesthood – This was said of the Israelites in Exodus 19:6.
