Once again the gang comes forth with candidates, this time under the watchful gaze of Ian.  But although strong arguments were put forth for the raw black metal conceptual piece by Ungfell, the morose progressive post-doom of Crippled Black Phoenix, and whatever insane caterwauling The Body did in the month of American Thanksgiving and apocalyptic elections, the rose could only be gifted to one. And that one was Hera with her pick of Thy Catafalque and their progressive world stew that is the unwieldy titled XII: A Gyönyörü Álmok Ezután Jönnek, which I'm sure is fantastic since I pre-ordered the vinyl but in all honestly haven't had time to listen to it yet.But that's okay because the crew talked about it and a lot more, so unwrap your audio gift and check out what else the group was listening to in November! 9C LINKS: Website | Facebook | Twitter (X) | Instagram

2024 is in it's final days and as is traditional it's time for us to talk aout all of the fantastic music released this year. This year Tracey & Colin have been on board with Charli XCX's Brat summer, while Ian has pretty much avoided it entirely while he's been rocking out to masked Hardcore bands with salsa rhythms. It's been another absolutely amazing year for music and it's been really difficult narrowing it down to 10 songs each. We've each chosen our 10 favourite songs of the year and sent them over to Colin's wife Helen, who put the playlists together and distributed them so we were each given a playlist of the 20 songs from the other two hosts, along with our own 10. We then ranked the playlists in order of preference and sent them back to Helen, who totalled up the points and worked out the order. She also joined us on the episode to read out the countdown, which we found out as we recorded so all reactions are genuine. Now, admittedly, in parts we're a little bit brutal to some of the songs in the list as we're three separate people with differing music tastes, but please remember that to be in this episode at all the songs have to have been in one of our top 10's of that year.Bands featured in this episode include (In alphabetical order, no spoilers here!) - Alkaline Trio, Ambiviolence, Arab Strap, Astrel K, Audiobaton, The Body & Dis Fig, The Bullfight & Henry Rollins, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, Julie Christmas & Johannes Persson, Crippled Black Phoenix, The Cure, Exploring Birdsong, Bill Fisher, The Hanging Stars, The Hell, Hope Of The States, Horse Jumper Of Love, MJ Lenderman, LLNN, Magdalena Bay, Midwife, Mt. Today's guest makes me look under the bed before I go to sleep. Welcome Belinda Kordic of Crippled Black Phoenix and the new project, Johnny The Boy. Belinda didn't come from a musical family or start playing music at a crazy young age. But without any real experience, she joined her first band in her early 20's and just ripped into doing necro vocals. She admits to doing them completely wrong, but it works for her and hasn't damaged anything. After leaving her first band, STABB (which is actually an unusual acronym) she started a solo project called Killing Mood. It was a complete 180 in sound. But when it found its way into the hands of Justin Greaves of Crippled Black Phoenix, it was exactly what he was looking for. Justin joins us in this conversation and I'm so glad he did. It's really fun to get multiple perspectives on their work together. That includes their new project, Johnny The Boy. They reveal the origins of not just the band but how the name was decided. We go pretty deep into Belinda's entire career. But we also peer into the future. Belinda and Justin give us all a sneak peek into some projects they've been working on for the 20th anniversary of Crippled Black Phoenix, including some unusual covers. And good news, there are plans for live shows from both CBP and Johnny The Boy. So follow them @cbp_444 and @johnny_the_boy for updated info. Buy the albums on Bandcamp or through Season Of Mist Records. Follow us @PerformanceAnx on socials. Send us coffee at ko-fi.com/performanceanxiety or send yourself merch at performanceanx.threadless.com. And keep an eye out for projects combining everyone in this episode!

Dat Behemoths ‘Conquer all' haar lijflied is. Vorige week in Baroeg gezien.Menselijk egocentrisme. Not only do we talk about Crippled Black Phoenix, it's formation, it's troubles, it's resurrection, and a new album; we go even further back. Back past Electric Wizard, past Armour Of God, past Hard To Swallow, and even past Iron Monkey. We go all the way back to his dad's record shop and how that informed his desire to create music that he hadn't heard yet. We do discuss all those bands and more, though, so don't worry. A musician who's truly dedicated to the purity of what he does, Justin was incredibly candid during our conversation. Stories include the influence of his dad on his music, the highs and lows of his relationships, where the ideas for some of his biggest hits came from, his anti-authority spirit, getting sober, suffering a stroke, the power of music, staying positive in spite of adversity, depression, mental illness, GREAT convo, GREAT guy, just an amazing songwriter: If you'd like to support this show: http://www.everyonelovesguitar.com/support INTENSE: Justin is the founder of, guitar player and writer of Crippled Black Phoenix, one of the best progressive/psychedelic rock bands around. Justin started playing drums at 12 and was gigging in the UK hardcore and punk scene at 16. Then, after roughly 16 years of gigging all over the world, he abruptly left the music business. DBL#12 Justin GreavesJustin has been active playing music since the 80s, from drummer for hire to guitarist in his own group Crippled Black Phoenix. Whether it's in a Jethro Tull covers band with his Dad, or playing the musical saw on a track with Nick Cave and Debbie Harry he's been all over so many different things. Starting out in hardcore bands like Hard to Swallow then the infamous sludge of Iron Monkey, to the doom of Teeth of Lions Rule the Divine (with Lee Dorian and Sunn members) and Electric Wizard's 'We Live' album of 2004.Switching to guitar he formed the musically diverse group Crippled Black Phoenix in 2004 and has now recorded their thirteenth studio album to date this year. Releasing on Invada, Clearview and Season of Mist they have toured extensively with varying lineups and players. The conversation also takes in the CBP choice of cover versions like their 'Horrific Honorifics' album and the Jeffrey Lee Pierce sessions project. Justin also discusses his love of film scoring having provided music for 'The Devil's Business' (2011)  and 'Future Shock (2014). A very open and honest look back at his time playing music over the decades. A highly recommended listen!Outro:Crippled Black Phoenix - 'Victory'Instagram  @cbp_444Facebook page Follow DBL on Instagram @destroybeforelistening Where photos are posted relating to each episode. You can listen via any usual podcast platforms like Apple podcasts, Google podcasts, Spotify, Deezer, Acast...Please subscribe or share this to anyone who may be interested.
