Many times there is this undertone of you're selfish or something when not at all. If it works it works. Just decide what you are. (26:15) Jeremy Slate Nothing in life comes easy. You have to work smarter, not harder. Initially, you may be in a phase of your business where some adversity happens. You just need to work better. If anything comes easy, it's not worth it. (32:30) Jason Treu Leaders are really good at pivoting quickly. They are always ready to step willingly into that role where they take responsibility so that they can ensure the smooth functioning of any work that has to be done. (37:28) Brian Burke It's important to be passionate about what you do. When you're passionate about something and you hit a wall, you'll be able to push through it because you know that you want to win. As women enter the technology field they can come across challenges to grow in their careers. Part of these challenges are because there are still not a lot of women in technology so we might encounter biases that affect our development and the tech community. Fortunately, as other women learn from their experiences, they have built support groups and platforms to help other women learn and grow in the tech industry. Seema Gururaj, Founder and CEO of Square Circle, talks about a platform that she built to empower women technologists to become industry influencers. Recent Volunteer Activities Include: Board member of several Louisiana-based organizations focused on STEAM and promoting women in technology; including the Foundation for East Baton Rouge School System, Louisiana Women in IT (La-WIT), and the Louisiana Tech Park. Influenced the development of the new curriculum at the College of Engineering, LSU. Specifically, she helped the College with professional skills training for the students in topics such as communication, relationship management, negotiation skills, branding, and more. Partnered with the College of Engineering, LSU, to create a series of professional development videos, helping LSU students better their interviewing skills. One of the organizing founders for “IT Girl”, an event held in May 2014 that focused on teaching middle-school girls the basics of computer programming. This event was a result of Dima’s partnership building, as she brought the community together for this important cause.
