Dona a Radio Moody: https://give.moodyradio.org/radio-moody/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Together, Jake and Elliot predict which trends will have big impacts on HR and why HR leaders should be looking beyond the first half of 2025.
Companies benefit from adding contingent workers to their staffing strategy as it allows for greater flexibility and scalability. Anamarie DeVito, Vice President of Client Services for Sevenstep, visits the HRO Today Educational Podcast to discuss what it takes to manage a contingent workforce. Listen in as Anamarie and host Elliot Clark, CEO of HRO Today, explore the importance of data beyond reporting and dissect how service providers can build trust with their partners to perform more than just the core operational work of talent recruiting and management.
Organizations may assume an outsourced partner would be more expensive, but what about the cost of internal resources used while a role remains vacant? Understanding these factors is essential for anyone involved in HR or procurement to navigate today's workforce challenges, whether considering RPO, MSP, or total talent solutions. How do workforce leaders develop strategies for balancing cost-effectiveness with operational efficiency? Tom Leeper, Vice President of Client Solutions at Sevenstep, joins Elliot Clark, CEO of HRO Today, in this episode of the "HRO Today Educational Podcast Series" to provide expert insights on navigating the complexities of workforce strategy. Uncertainty in the business world is nothing new. For decades, market fluctuations and global events have influenced business practices to varying degrees. Middle-market companies are competing for the same talent as Enterprise-level organizations. However, most companies of this size have smaller hiring teams that are reactive and struggling to proactively set talent strategy and infrastructure. So how can they gain a competitive advantage? Finding a talent acquisition partner to support and guide them through can be a fruitful strategy. But where should mid-market organizations start when looking for a talent acquisition partner, and what should they expect? Quality of service is crucial in healthcare, but such a volatile economic and health environment makes it difficult to anticipate how many workers a healthcare system will need. Many healthcare leaders believe they have insufficient staff, but healthcare systems do not always have the infrastructure in-house to track recruitment data so that they can plan hiring strategies for the future. Without analyzing that data, it is hard to determine the exact areas of shortage that need to be filled. On the latest episode of the HRO Today Educational Podcast Series, Leora Westbrook, President of Workforce Optimization Solutions at AMN Healthcare, and Keith Bradley, President of Recruitment Process Outsourcing at AMN Healthcare, join host Elliot Clark, CEO of HRO Today to discuss recruitment processes in the healthcare space. Listen in as Leora, Keith, and Elliot explore the importance of external partnerships in healthcare recruiting and discuss how health systems can properly vet potential RPO partners.

As we enter 2023, talent leaders and hiring professionals are faced with many challenges that existed prior to the pandemic (talent shortages, and wage inflation, among others). During an economic slowdown, many companies feel the pressure to cut costs which can lead to a reduced hiring function. While this feels right in the short term, companies can be left in the lurch for long-term talent acquisition planning. How can companies prepare their TA functions for economic uncertainty? Curtis Grajeda, Founder and Managing Partner of LevelUP HCS, explores that question on the latest HRO Today Educational Podcast. Curtis speaks with our own Elliot Clark about the advantages of an outsourced TA program, especially in times of economic uncertainty. “Total talent” strategy focuses on bringing the management of permanent employee talent acquisition and flexible workforce engagement under a single umbrella. It's not a new idea, and it is more than a vision. For today's smart organizations, total talent offers an established, practical approach for accessing a constantly evolving workforce. Anamarie DeVito, Vice President of MSP Client Services for Sevenstep, stops by the HRO Today Educational Podcast to speak with our own Elliot Clark, about why total talent solutions are coming of age. Listen in as Anamarie and Elliot explore the big issues that have turned total talent into a practical option for solving today's toughest workforce challenges. Note: At the time of recording Anamarie's title was Executive Director of MSP Programs. She has since been promoted to her current title Vice President of MSP Client Services.
No one can be sure what the future of the economy looks like. Jason Guggisberg, Vice President of Enterprise Sales at DZConneX, joins our own Elliot Clark on the latest HRO Today Educational Podcast to discuss the importance of flexibility when building a workforce. Listen in as Jason offers insights about navigating an economic downturn to build a stronger team
Even before the pandemic, the healthcare sector has long been struggling with the cost of contingent labor. Listen to our latest HRO Today Educational Podcast to hear Keith Bradley, President of Recruitment Solutions for AMN Healthcare, and our own Elliot Clark explore the challenges of building a workforce in the healthcare industry and how healthcare HR leaders can combat them.
Everyone's thinking about being and working remotely. According to a recent Gallup poll, as much as 65% of the US workforce is interested in remote work. While many HR leaders think about how to manage remote workers, it is also crucial to understand how to recruit and hire remote workers. Jeff Sunderland, Head of Sourcing for North America at Resource Solutions, stops by our latest HRO Today Educational Podcast with our own Elliot Clark to discuss how TA leaders can get competitive when recruiting remote and hybrid workers.
How does having hope in our eternal future help us live for Christ today? In Evangelism as Exiles, Elliot Clark wrote about 1 Peter 3:15: “Peter wrote to encourage Asian believers with the hope of future glory, but he also expected that such hope would have an influence on those around them. He expected that their evident hope amid suffering would be the catalyst for many unbelievers to inquire about their faith.” The “hope” in this verse is the same as earlier in the epistle— salvation (1:3, 13, 21). Believers are to be always ready “to give the reason for the hope that [we] have” (v. 15). Notice that evangelism and apologetics here are envisioned as answers to questions. We’re not told to shove the gospel down people’s throats or to debate anyone into agreement. Peter specified that we’re to share the hope that we have in Christ “with gentleness and respect.” When we witness, both content (what we say) and method (how we say it) are important. We should give unbelievers no legitimate reason to criticize or slander us or the gospel (v. 16; 2:12). We can expect opposition, but we should keep a “clean conscience” and not sink to their level. After all, it’s better “to suffer for doing good than for doing evil” (v. 17). It’s worth being a victim of injustice for the sake of the gospel, just as Christ was (v. 18). Our outward witness is based on our inner commitment to revering Christ as Lord (v. 15). Evangelism is not optional. Witness must be part of the Christian life. If it isn’t, we’re failing to revere Christ as Lord or to honor Him as holy. >> Listen to those around you today. You may notice an overwhelming sense of hopelessness. Given that fact, we encourage you today to pray for the salvation of an unbelieving friend and for an opportunity to share the gospel and the hope we have in Christ.

The social consequences of being a Christian have never been easy. We often face exclusion, mockery and rejection for our beliefs and countercultural worldview. Elliot addresses the many cultural and social challenges of evangelism in societies today, and inspires us to draw from our reverent fear of the Lord and love of our neighbours to help us persevere when evangelism seems daunting.

The war for talent in the middle market is ON! It's not always a fair fight for mid-market companies to compete against Fortune 500s for the best talent. The middle market often faces similar challenges that require complex total talent solutions, just like the larger enterprises. No one wants to hire a mediocre executive. So how does the middle market compete? The perception around total talent solutions is that they are only tailored for larger organizations. But are these solutions viable at the mid-level? In this podcast, our own Elliot Clark speaks with Jen Spicher, Chief Revenue Officer at LevelUp Human Capital Solutions about the needs of the middle market and the options that are available. This podcast was sponsored by LevelUp Human Capital Solutions: https://www.leveluphcs.com/
Increasing numbers of organizations are now recognizing that their contingent workforce – and not just their employees – is a critical, strategic part of their total workforce. With that comes a need for new data-driven practices and solutions that not only address cost and risk management, but also enable multichannel sourcing and worker engagement. For example, organizations need to develop an employer brand and a worker experience that resonates with, attracts and motivates contingent workers. But how do organizations understand what they need to do to engage and get the most out their contingent workforce? In this podcast, our own Elliot Clark sits down with Kevin Akeroyd, CEO of PRO Unlimited, to discuss contingent workforce industry trends and changing best practices for attracting, engaging and optimizing the value of contingent workers. The pandemic has left employees feeling burned out and disconnected, resulting in a pent-up demand for new jobs and new opportunities. The Christian hope is that God's purposes are so unassailable that a great thunderstorm of events can't drive them off course. Even when we're wave-tossed and lost at sea, Jesus remains the captain of the ship and the commander of the storm." —Elliot Clark

Live different, live with certain and living hope. I quoted Elliot Clark a few times today in the message but did not specially reference him or his work so as not to break the flow of the sermon. However I want to credit him now. I did quote him 2 times and was helped by his treatment of 1 Peter 1:3-12 immensely. The car alarm illustration was amended from his work. Here's a link to his book: Evangelism as Exiles by Elliot Clark. I recommend it highly!
Amidst COVID-19 and necessary wholesale expense cutting, it's important to really understand the difference between an expense and an investment as it pertains to ROI for your organization. And when specifically looking at your talent acquisition strategy, decisions should be made with that investment in mind – as the most expensive job is the unfilled one. But why do companies fail to make the connection between recruiting and returns? And what metrics should they track to help change this perception? These questions and more are addressed in our latest HRO Today Educational podcast with Elliot Clark and Advanced RPO's SVP, John Hess. For more information, visit https://www.advancedrpo.com/. REFLECTION QUOTES “If you want a religion to make you feel really comfortable, I certainly don't recommend Christianity.” ~ C.S. Lewis (1898-1963), British writer, lay theologian and Christian apologist “Waiting on God requires the willingness to bear uncertainty, to carry within oneself the unanswered question, lifting the heart to God about it whenever it intrudes upon one's thoughts.” “The will of God is never exactly what you expect it to be. It may seem to be much worse, but in the end it's going to be a lot better and a lot bigger.” ~ Elisabeth Elliot (1926-2015), Christian missionary, author and speaker “Hope for the Christian isn't just confidence in a certain, glorious future. It's hope in a present providence. It's hope that God's plans can't be thwarted by local authorities or irate mobs, by unfriendly bosses or unbelieving husbands, by Supreme Court rulings or the next election. The Christian hope is that God's purposes are so unassailable that a great thunderstorm of events can't drive them off course. Even when we're wave-tossed and lost at sea, Jesus remains the captain of the ship and the commander of the storm.” ~ Elliot Clark, contemporary author specializing in cross-cultural church planting “Money and machines anesthetize neediness. They put us in charge, in control. As long as the money holds out and the machines are in good repair, we don't need to pray.” ~ Eugene H. Peterson (1932-present), American clergyman and author “…it is faith and hope in the midst of suffering, not miraculous deliverance from it, that display most clearly the all-sufficiency of God to a despairing world.” ~ Scott Hafemann (1954-present), American professor of the New Testament “My barn having burned to the ground, I can now see the moon.” ~ Mizuta Masahide (1657-1723), Japanese poet and samurai SERMON PASSAGE Habakkuk 2:20-3:16 (NASB) Habakkuk 2 20 “But the Lord is in His holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before Him.” Habakkuk 3 1 A prayer of Habakkuk the prophet, according to Shigionoth. 2 Lord, I have heard the report about You and I fear. O Lord, revive Your work in the midst of the years, In the midst of the years make it known; In wrath remember mercy. 3 God comes from Teman, And the Holy One from Mount Paran. Selah. His splendor covers the heavens, And the earth is full of His praise. 4 His radiance is like the sunlight; He has rays flashing from His hand, And there is the hiding of His power. 5 Before Him goes pestilence, And plague comes after Him. 6 He stood and surveyed the earth; He looked and startled the nations. Yes, the perpetual mountains were shattered, The ancient hills collapsed. His ways are everlasting. 7 I saw the tents of Cushan under distress, The tent curtains of the land of Midian were trembling. 8 Did the Lord rage against the rivers, Or was Your anger against the rivers, Or was Your wrath against the sea, That You rode on Your horses, On Your chariots of salvation? 9 Your bow was made bare, The rods of chastisement were sworn. Selah. You cleaved the earth with rivers. 10 The mountains saw You and quaked; The downpour of waters swept by. The deep uttered forth its voice, It lifted high its hands. 11 Sun and moon stood in their places; They went away at the light of Your arrows, At the radiance of Your gleaming spear. 12 In indignation You marched through the earth; In anger You trampled the nations. 13 You went forth for the salvation of Your people, For the salvation of Your anointed. You struck the head of the house of the evil To lay him open from thigh to neck. Selah. 14 You pierced with his own spears The head of his throngs. They stormed in to scatter us; Their exultation was like those Who devour the oppressed in secret. 15 You trampled on the sea with Your horses, On the surge of many waters. 16 I heard and my inward parts trembled, At the sound my lips quivered. Decay enters my bones, And in my place I tremble. Because I must wait quietly for the day of distress, For the people to arise who will invade us.

In this passage of Colossians, we see that while the gospel is for us, it is primarily not about us, but about Jesus.Discussion QuestionsWhat are the implications of the truth that Christ is both fully human and fully God? On this episode I’m speaking with April Wachtel, former bartender and brand ambassador, and currently the the owner of Swig and Swallow, and we get into that business and what she’s currently working on. There’s a bit of a technical issue towards the end of the interview, just in the last couple minutes, but before you get to that, you’re going to hear about April’s 22 years of experience in the hospitality industry, starting with her very first job in the industry, working as a brand ambassador, bartending at Lahi Kia, attending Tales of the Cocktail, and more. One final note, if you’re familiar with apartment bartender, aka Elliot Clark’s story, he talked on this podcast about being in New York and attending a class on spirits and cocktails. That class, which is what first got him interested in cocktails, was taught by none other than April. It was great to see things come full circle. For healthcare, “HR in the future has got to be innovative… entrepreneurial… creative, but most of all they have to be talking about business impacts.” That’s the advice of Elliot Clark, Chairman and CEO of SharedXpertise Media and HRO Today, a magazine focused on Human Resources leadership. In this episode of Second Opinions, Elliot provides strong evidence why healthcare leaders must adopt the mindset of industries that see HR as an investment in the future and in better outcomes, not just a cost center and risk manager. In order to begin this transformation, Elliot says that HR needs to be able to talk the language of business, which includes understanding not only the traditional metrics of time to fill and cost per hire, but also the business impact of the cost of not hiring. “If you think of it that way, you automatically transform the concept of HR as an expense to HR as an investment.”
