When today's guest, Kelli Thompson, was overwhelmed by opportunity—a level of success she had been dreaming of and working diligently toward—she knew she needed a roadmap to better manage her time and energy, stat. In this conversation, we unpack how she created an Energy Capacity Plan (a woman after my own spreadsheet-loving heart!), how to create yours, why it doesn't need to be a detailed calendar grid sliced into specific 15-minute increments, and how that plan can inform your pricing. In the second half, we also talk about masterminds — when to join, what to watch out for, and how to determine which one/s are right for you. “And I just feel that people, I now I have so much more perspective, but at the time, even I felt people who have already had so much adversity in their life. That's a big precursor to how people get behind bars. And then when they're there, I feel like that's the time to heal, but we have such a different mindset in our country and other countries do the same and such a punitive one. And that didn't, that's not how I am organized inside. That's not what feels right in me. And so I think right away, I saw how things could be different, but I also saw just the power of this tool in people's hands who were really starving to understand what was wrong in their lives and thinking there was something wrong with them. And, I just think my approach to the enneagram is that there's nothing wrong with any of us. Enneagram is a map to show us what's so right about us. And it felt like the, the most profound place to be figuring out how to teach it, which is what I was doing,” says Susan Olesek, founder of the Enneagram Prison Project, a non-profit dedicated to sharing the power of self-awareness education using the Enneagram system with those who have been imprisoned around the globe. An unapologetic idealist, and an enneagram Type One for those who are familiar with the system, Susan joins us today to share her compassionate approach to the Enneagram, honed over 15 years of engaging with Fortune 500 executives, corporate teams, schools and those experiencing incarceration. She recently founded  The Human Potentialists (THP) a Benefit Corporation with a vision to democratize the Enneagram, and whose mission is guiding people to their highest potential while connecting them to the core of our shared humanity. She views the Enneagram as an insightful tool meant to guide all of us to our highest potential, convinced that people are inherently good and encouraging us to see the possibilities that lie beyond our “personality.” Susan takes us through the potential and pitfalls of each Enneagram type, reminding us that it is vulnerable work to look deeply at ourselves in order to see and break free from the prison of our design. Their public program 9PrisonsONEKey is EPP's compassionate introduction to the Enneagram will be accepting applications beginning July 29th, 2022.     EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS: Leaning in when we feel resistance… The nine personality types… Seeing the possibilities beyond our personality prison… MORE FROM SUSAN OLESEK: Enneagram Prison Project The Human Potentialists Both Sides of the Bars | Susan Olesek | TEDxWashingtonSquare DIG DEEPER: The Wisdom of the Enneagram: The Complete Guide to Psychological and Spiritual Growth for the Nine Personality Types RHETI: The Riso-Hudson Enneagram Type Indicator To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. I've been curious about the Enneagram for a long time. (Therapists often use it in their work.) But until recently, I never made the time to explore its wisdom. When I started digging deeper and seeing myself reflected so clearly in the Type 2 personality, I immediately wanted to talk to Jessica. I knew she would help me understand what this meant for me given what I've been going through. Jessica Denise Dickson (she/her/hers) is a life empowerment coach who believes that when Black women heal, the world heals. She believes that the path to personal and collective healing comes through embodying our Enneagram and liberation work. Jessica supports clients, through groups and one-on-one work, with the reclamation of our full humanity - healing work that leads us to equity, justice, and freedom. She believes as I do that when we change, we change the world. Listen in on my conversation with Jessica as we explore how the Enneagram can help us understand ourselves on a deeper level, identify the parts of ourselves that need healing, and why doing growth work like this in community makes all the difference. Welcome to The Nerds are Typing, a podcast where we dive deeper into our favorite fictional works and critically analyze characters through the lens of the Enneagram and MBTI. TNAT is hosted by Connie and Delia, sunshine/grumpy besties and MBTI and Enneagram nerds (respectively). This is the place to be for deep dive character discussions, analysis, and dragging as we use these two systems to break down fictional characters and from some of our favorite works. In this introductory episode, we discuss our backgrounds as personality type aficionados and a baseline introduction of the MBTI and Enneagram. Future episodes will go through the 9 + 16 types as we discuss characters from our favorite fictional properties like Avatar the Last Airbender, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, Disney, ASOIF/Game of Thrones, Doctor Who, Sailor Moon, the MCU, and so so so much more. Next week we'll be discussing Enneagram type Ones and ISTJs. Follow TNAT on Instagram (@thenerdsaretyping) and Twitter (@nerdsaretyping); subscribe and review on your favorite podcast platform.
