The Rover is a lot like Lady Gaga's ARTPOP, in that it could mean anything. Some of our guesses: it's about the Mars Rover; it's about a dog; it's about both the Mars Rover and a dog. But it turns out that The Rover is actually about Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson both refusing to enunciate their lines while shooting their way through post-apocalyptic Australia on what IMDB very charitably refers to as a "road trip".Plus, Harry questions why admin still exists in the post-apocalypse, Stacey wonders if we're going be doing the podcast for the rest of our lives, and we both kind of just turn on each other.Don't forget to subscribe to Poster Boys, and leave us a comment and rating!Keen to see our beautiful faces? Whether or not you practice the traditional American holiday called “Thanksgiving” which takes place this week – it's always celebrated on the last Thursday in November - I believe image bearers the world over can benefit from a generous serving of gratitude on a regular basis. In fact, there are multiple secular, scientific studies proving that gratitude – that is when we are intentionally thankful for something or someone – has physiological benefits like improved sleep, digestion, and cardiovascular wellness, as well as psychological benefits like decreased stress and an increased sense of overall well-being. Case in point, my road manager, Sharon, and I have come up with a simple game when we're traveling and one of us notices that the other one is being especially grumpy or negative. We call it the “Stop and Give Me Ten” game - and I assure you that in spite of the title, it has nothing to do with push-ups. Frankly, if I attempted ten push-ups in a row right now it's quite possible I'd break my nose after collapsing to the floor. The “ten” in the title of our game refers to all the fingers on two hands worth of things we're grateful for. Recently, after a long day of delayed flights we got to our destination airport only to discover that the car rental company had given away the SUV we'd confirmed and they only had compact cars left. So, after breaking a nail trying to cram all our luggage and several boxes of books into a two-door designed for petite people, I climbed into the passenger's seat with a huff. Then I began to complain about all the inconveniences we'd endured thus far that day - the unappetizing yet overpriced airport food, how particularly rude our gate agent had been, how both men I'd sat next to on our flights were armrest hogs. After listening to my whiney chorus for a few minutes, Sharon turned to face me and said: STOP AND GIVE ME TEN! I stopped - partly because she was driving in Dallas traffic and I was afraid she was going to rear-end the car in front of us - but then Holy Spirit poked my fault-finding heart into a real pause and after a moment I held up both hands and counted off all ten fingers in quick succession:• I'm thankful our flights were only delayed instead of cancelled• I'm thankful we're in a car instead of on foot• I'm thankful I make enough money on the road to pay my mortgage• I'm thankful I get to see women launch themselves into the arms of Jesus for the first time almost every weekend• I'm thankful I got to make it home in time to be with Dad before he passed away• I'm thankful for Missy's physical health• I'm thankful I have family and friends who've experienced my plethora of shortcomings and yet still love me• I'm thankful our God's faithfulness doesn't wane when I'm being such a weenie baby• I'm thankful I wore stretchy pants today instead of stiff jeans• I'm thankful we're staying at a decent hotel tonightAnd it's amazing how just 36 seconds of practicing gratitude totally changed my mood. I went from Eeyore to Tigger in less than a minute!I know it's a much more serious thing to practice gratitude when your husband walks away, your loved one dies, your cancer returns, or your company's downsized. But I promise – more importantly – God promises in His Word that extending past the trouble of life to reach for the truth of His abiding peace, unconditional love, and transformative joy is worth the stretch. Thanksgiving is a facet of the Fruit of the Spirit God that I like to imagine like...

A Hawke's Bay iwi leader has blocked vehicles from a local beach, placing limestone boulders over access points. Debate's been rife in the community for months over whether four-wheel drive vehicles should be allowed on popular Waimārama Beach, east of Hastings. Ngati Kahungunu leader Bayden Barber told Mike Hosking that he's had to take the matter into his own hands. He says it's been a long-standing issue, with the vehicles posing a major safety risk to beachgoers, especially children. The Hastings District Council is currently seeking feedback in regard to vehicles on the beach. LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Foundations of Amateur Radio During the week I received a funny picture from a fellow amateur. This particular image was one titled "Multitap Antenna" and it featured a Four Wheel Drive vehicle with a bull-bar and a spring base mounted antenna. The antenna was made from pipe and at suitable intervals the pipe had a t-piece with a tap. Nothing too peculiar, right? Well, other than that the taps were standard brass garden taps with a hose-quick release clip and hose fittings. Made me laugh. Anyway, that reminded me of a series of postings on Social Media about the random things people have used as antennas, from emergency bits of copper wire attached to flag-poles to get a local station back on the air during an emergency to tuning up wire fences, bed frames and the like. There's even a "Strange Antenna Challenge" with suggestions of ladders, baby chairs - presumably without the baby, umbrellas in trees and other fun stuff. Suggestions to contact your local TV station to promote the activity to bring back some fun into Amateur Radio. Now, why am I even talking about this? As Amateurs we take ourselves very seriously, so seriously that any idea that isn't following the norm is scoffed at. "This is how we do things around here" and "That will never work" are often heard in group discussions among the knowing elite of Amateur Radio. Here's the thing. We're Amateurs, experimenters, licensed to test, to play, to learn. What if you find yourself on the side of the road with an up-side-down vehicle with a perfectly working radio, but a broken off antenna? What would you do? What if a storm blew your antenna down, or it was destroyed by a flood? How would you cope? Would you bring out your trusty spare antenna and plug that in, or would it be helpful to have some experience with tuning up weird stuff and seeing what happens? For my money, I'd rather know an Amateur who can make the proverbial wet piece of string work, than the one who has the latest gadgets and gizmo's ready for that day that the emergency arrives. Hopefully their spare antenna will be in their car and not sitting in the Garage waiting for the emergency to arrive at the right time and place. So, if you did in fact have some fun and started playing, some of this is going to fail and some of it will work poorly and some of it won't work at all and you might damage your radio if you pump full power into a random piece of conductive material, but, you might also just come across some skills that you could use when it becomes essential, or when you're up a creek without a paddle. So, when you've done everything and are looking for the next challenge, have a look at the Strange Antenna Challenge, there's been activity going back over a decade featuring two cars as antennas, rail road tracks, a bronze statue, exercise machines, a football stadium and a bridge. They sit down to play a board game, and they agree to the rules, and then one of them is jim-jamming the cards, or frosting their dice, or some other rule-breaking crap. And what's the other one supposed to do? What do you do when somebody you trusted takes the whole thing and throws it in the trash? Destroy their car, clearly. This, ah, bit will make sense by the end of the episode. Trust me. I'm a doctor. Jetzt heißt der Wagen RAV4 Und das ist auch gut so, denn da hat man sogar noch die Zeit, über Fahrdaten und Preise zu reden.
