“Not in a thousand years would man ever fly.”   This is the story of two brothers and the dream of controlled, sustained, and powered flight in a heavier-than-air flying machine.   The Wrights are a tight-knit bunch. A supportive family. So perhaps it's not surprising that, when Wilbur sinks into a deep, dark depression brought on by a terrible beating, his brother Orville is there for him. Just like Will and their sister Kate are there for Orv when Typhoid nearly takes his life. These siblings are thick as thieves, even if Kate opts for college while “the boys” go for starting their own print shop and bicycle company. They also have each other's backs when Will rediscovers his childhood dream of flight. He and Orv pursue it relentlessly and for years on end among North Carolina's sandy beaches just outside of Kitty Hawk.   Determination. Failure. Risk-taking. Scientific discovery. Family. This is the story of the Wright brothers. ___ 4 Ways to dive deeper into History That Doesn't Suck Join our growing facebook community Get our weekly newsletter, The Revolution Become part of the HTDS Patreon family Subscribe to Greg's monthly newsletter, Connected History Learn more about your ad choices. TAKE ACTION TO SAVE LABYRINTH CANYON: Leave a comment by 10/7!The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is accepting comments on a draft travel management plan for the iconic Labyrinth Canyon and Gemini Bridges area outside of Moab. The plan will determine where off-road vehicle (ORV) use is allowed in this remarkable landscape for decades to come, so public input is extremely important. Home to irreplaceable cultural and historic resources, critical wildlife habitat, and unmatched quiet recreational opportunities, the Labyrinth Canyon and Gemini Bridges region is a magnificent area of Utah's backcountry. The BLM's travel plan will have a long-lasting impact on the future of this region by determining where ORVs will be able to travel and what areas will be managed for the protection of wildlife, solitude, cultural values and non-motorized recreation.Labyrinth Canyon is a gem of the American West, where the placid Green River flows for more than 40 miles past towering canyon walls. This stretch of river provides an unparalleled multi-day wilderness experience for boaters of all ages and experience levels. It is also a designated Wild and Scenic River, noted for its outstanding recreational, scenic, ecological, and cultural values. You can act now by leaving a comment with the BLM by October 7th. It only takes minutes and your voice truly matters on these issues. Head to suwa.org/travelplans where we've made it easy to get started, and thank you for taking action.

We are 21 Let's Drink! This is the first time we have recorded while in the same room. We were both visiting our parents in Indiana so we took some time out of our morning to record this episode. We are also joined by our brothers Orv and Asa for parts of the show as they were also visiting our parents during this memorial day weekend. Things start out with an overview of an amazing 3D printed project by a Reddit user that Asher made contact with. This clock is seriously impressive and Rainer might be just a little ticked off that he has yet to do such an in-depth project. Asa then steps in and he and Asher go over their COD load-outs. After the COD discussion Orv barges into the room and discusses more his recent golf victory over Rainer. After Rainer and Orv trade blows the episode winds down with Asher sharing a story about an inspiring WW2 Vet scholar. In perhaps the most unique twist of the episode, Asa gives the weekly brainteaser to you the listener. Thank you for listening, Asher and Rainer. Vance currently works within the IT industry where he’s spent the last two decades specializing in Linux based systems, networking, digital forensics, systems, and security administration. He previously spent a decade professionally in the private protection and investigation world, working internationally for celebrities, VIPs, executives & their families. A licensed and certified investigative specialist since 1991, he has subject expertise in surveillance, undercover operations, digital systems forensics, and defensive tactics. Having first heard of “remote viewing” in 1998, he immediately sought out formal remote viewing instruction and has received training and guidance in both controlled and extended remote viewing from many of today’s top remote viewing instructors and schools, including: PsiTech, the Farsight Institute, Ed Dames, FM Bonsall, David Morehouse, and the Hawaiian Remote Viewing Guild. Additionally, he’s has been trained in other “remote viewing” methodologies based on more esoteric meditative practices and kuji-in techniques. In 2003/2004, Vance coined the terms “openRV” and “oRV” to describe his eclectic approach to operational remote viewing application, training, and teaching. Notably, he publicly demonstrated successfully predicting winning lottery numbers multiple times, has been utilized discreetly in many high profile missing persons cases, and has been sourced for several “programs” where unconventional information collection was required. He has appeared on various TV and radio programs to discuss remote viewing and offers professional services and training to those clients, corporations, and law enforcement entities needing information beyond what is conventionally accessible. Vance has spent his adult life in pursuit of experiences, training, and meeting many notable mentors of diverse thought. It’s this diversity that brings a different perspective and passion for challenging convention that has become Vance’s personal mantra and that of Trinity Science.
