Within the same month, he was put on a ventilator, emergency intubation, an ECMO machine, and placed in a coma as he fought for his life. As his health deteriorated rapidly, doctors gave Randy a 3% chance of living. But after convalescent plasma treatment, the support of his family, and 3 profound NDE experiences—Randy lived to share his experiences battling COVID-19. Key Topics Discussed in this Episode: - Randy finding out he had COVID-19 - His tragic experience with bilateral pneumonia, emergency intubation, and being put in a cold coma for 4 weeks. “They told my family I had a 3% chance of living.” - Randy was on a ventilator, an ECMO machine, and he needed convalescent plasma to survive. - Randy's NDE experiences while in a coma. “After I got to the hospital, I had these experiences I just didn't know how to classify them.” - How his NDE experiences put him on a religious quest of spiritual discovery. - Going through a sort of peaceful tunnel and exiting in a beautiful room, which Randy describes was covered in gold and stained glass. - Going back to his physical body and back again to the tunnel that led to the magnificent city two more times, but to different locations. - How Randy, who was previously a non-believer during his career as a criminal investigator, found validation of life after death. - Encountering his loved ones in this other realm, but they wouldn't acknowledge his presence because it was not his time. - Randy experience with someone in this other realm who gave him the responsibility of passing on a message (“Tell Madison at the salon; Her grandfather's okay.”)—and the profound turn of events that led him to meet with Maddison. - “What was going on mentally, emotionally, and spiritually when you woke up from your coma?”

In this episode, and in celebration of the 100th episode of the podcast, Tim and Randy will go back in time and share their backstories to give us a mental picture of just how far they’ve come to be where they are as far as the podcast, Pulse Fitness, and PF Marketing Solutions are concerned. Tim goes all the way back to college where he played college football and studied construction management which then led him into a pretty great job in construction out in California where he even engaged in real estate investing quite successfully. That is where he met his wife and with his earnings from investing they bought a house in Arizona and moved. While working in the Arizona construction scene where there wasn’t much going on in terms of real estate investing, Tim noticed that there was a very successful Anytime Fitness gym which got him interested in the business. The gym owner was very helpful in advising him on everything gym start up and management, but when he decided to set up an Anytime Fitness of his own, he was restricted from doing so because there was a group that had the sole rights to opening an Anytime Fitness in the state. So he decided to start his own and with support from his dad, a business mentor, family, and friends, he had a logo, website, and was signing a lease for a location within no time. The rest from then on, as they say, was history. Pulse Fitness is now a very successful gym business and Tim and Randy even have a consultancy, PF Marketing Solutions, to boot.Randy joined the gym to train when it was just three months into the business, and was scaling very fast (they already had 350 members). Their friendship blossomed to the point where Randy would help with stuff like graphic design. At some point, Tim had to totally shift the gym’s business model to keep making money, and Randy gradually became more and more involved in the management (even though Tim made him shave his beard), and to this day, their great team work has kept Pulse winning big consistently. Stay tuned for more on the full story of how Tim and Randy got where they are, and you’ll definitely be inspired to keep going strong in your own gym ownership journey.Key Takeaways:The bar where you bring your own alcohol (07:00)The Justin Bieber of like the 70s and 80s (11:00)How Pulse Fitness came to be and how Tim had no clue when he started out (16:17)Losing his job and starting Pulse with loans and credit cards (21:05)How Randy joined the gym and slowly became an integral part of its management and success (23:00)Shifting from the Anytime Fitness kind of business model to in-house training (31:00)Shaving his beard so he could join the gym’s operations team (44:00)The overnight success they got when they integrated funnels into their marketing (47:07)Making $300,000 from automation alone (49:00)1k leads with 220 sales at $97 a piece within just three weeks (53:37)Joining Russell Brunson’s inner circle and how it led to the gym’s farther growth (55:15)How competitive Facebook is for the fitness industry and where the true growth is happening for gym businesses (58:00)Helping gym owners take their businesses to a million dollars (01:03:00)The power of mindset and personal growth in growing a gym business (01:05:45)Additional Resources:Dotcom Secrets By Russell Brunsonwww.CLACourse.comwww.ProFitGPS.netMarketing Talk with Fitness Professionals Facebook Grouphttps://PFMarketingSolutions.com/Datawww.PFMarketingSolutions.com/Automationwww.ProfitGPS.comwww.PFMarketingSolutions.com/Call--If you are interested in a free audit for your gym, visit http://bit.ly/free_gym_audit--You can find out more about Tim and the strategies covered in this episode by checking out our website.--Would you rather watch the video version instead?Head over to our YouTube channel to watch this episode by going here--If you don’t already have my book, get your copy FREE here.--Connect with Tim:Schedule A CallFacebookInstagramLinkedInConnect with Randy:FacebookInstagram--Subscribe to the podcast on Apple, Spotify, Google, Stitcher, YouTube or anywhere else you listen to your podcasts. If you haven't already, please rate and review the podcast on Apple Podcasts!

Elise’s guest on today’s Because of Horses helps save hundreds of wild Mustangs every year, in the process also providing life skills and hope to the prisoners who volunteered to gentle them.   Randy Helm heads up the Wild Horse and Burro Inmate Program within the Arizona Department of Corrections. Randy supervises and trains about 40 prisoners, and over 500 horses and burros, ensuring the animals' careful gentling and making it possible for them to leave BLM's holding facilities and get adopted into loving homes.   And while it wasn't initially the program's focus, the very nature of working with horses has been incredibly beneficial to the prisoners, themselves – giving them hope for life after prison, building their self-confidence, helping them connect with other living beings, and teaching them life skills that many were never before exposed to. The outstanding results speak for themselves: while about 40% of Arizona prisoners will be back behind bars within three years of their release, those who participate in Randy’s wild horse training program have a recidivism rate of less than 15%.   This episode, Elise and Randy discuss the program's role in saving wild Mustangs and providing them with a shot at new lives, the changes he sees in the prisoner-trainers, and why rehabilitating horses – and men – is so important to him... a former narcotics officer, life-long rancher, and devoted horseman.   Topics of Discussion: [1:23] The changes Randy sees in prisoners as they participate in the program. [2:28] How are inmates selected to participate? [3:48] The inmates' varied backgrounds. [4:11] Why the program requires prisoners to have their high school diploma or be working toward their GED. [6:42] How the program guides inmates toward self-improvement. [7:48] Why Randy believes these programs with horses are so meaningful. [9:38] What Randy has observed in the interactions between the horses and the inmates — especially in the early days. [11:16] The program's objective and the bond between horses and inmates. [13:20] Teaching the inmates to work with the horses’ nature through low-resistance training and natural horsemanship. [18:40] The important, teachable moments between the inmates and horses. [21:48] Reading listener feedback! [23:38] What the program looks like on a day-to-day basis and how it helps prisoners develop a strong work ethic. [25:45] The stats don’t lie — the program's impressive success rate. [27:34] How Randy’s own life experiences have been critical in providing a good background for the work he is doing today. [20:10] How Randy drew from his past experiences to coach former inmates to avoid the habits that led to their incarceration. [30:48] The many roles required by Randy's job. [32:20] Why Randy believes wild Mustangs tend to take to Border Patrol fairly easily — sometimes even better than a domesticated Quarter Horse. [39:18] Other ways Mustangs can be better accustomed to trails and different types of environments. [40:44] The complex issue of managing the wild Mustang and how the program helps. [43:17] How the horses are selected for the program. [45:50] From start to finish, what training wild Mustangs is usually like. This week, Turg and Randy discuss the new album The Chief by Jidenna and using the themes surrounding this powerful freshman release, including… pursuing relationships post-breakup, getting invited to the ex’s wedding. Why a relationship in retrospect brings a lot of unnecessary anxiety into the fray. How the 20s relationship mentality will only set you up for failure in your 30s, prioritizing relationship goals and career goals – which comes first and can we live with the decisions we make. Maybe we always look to the past for sorrow, when do you take the next step in discussing your future with your significant other, day dream relationship standing versus actual relationship standing, how society dictates the way we interpret our roles and expectations in a relationship, holding on - readjusting in a relationship to just make it work. The guys also debate how sabotaging relationships to by neglecting the basic needs of a relationship to survive is a reality in most of our lives. The mentality behind how a relationship is constructed – and at the same time deconstructed – because of where we are in our lives at the time the relationship. Turg goes on to discuss how he almost sabotaged his own relationship by incorrectly applying the old saying, “Happy wife happy life” to his own life by letting things get out of control. Then the guys embark upon story time by addressing how what Turg did may have been the wrong approach to a way toward achieving compromise. Turg and Randy debate the varying perspectives around the selfless and selfish approach to relationships. How marriage changes everything and why you cannot assume you will maintain the same expectations throughout. How Turg and Randy view the varying perspectives behind compromise in a relationship when a relationship is in trouble. Why divorce and breakups are dramatically different when perceived by others. Randy discusses the ‘Come back tour” and why revisiting relationships is a bad idea. How Randy tries to identify with his mistakes in past relationships and he reflects on why we miss opportunities based on contributions to the relationship. Why reflecting on a relationship and focusing on the duality of energy makes a difference in successes and failures in relationships. How settling for a relationship that just doesn’t work is a failures mentality. How a Justin Timberlake reference makes an appearance on the show and why it’s relevant. Why failure in relationships is the reality of the world in which we live. Finally, find out how a Talladega Nights reference makes an appearance on the show and how it’s actually relevant to Turg reaching hard to make a point, and how the guys wrap by getting back to heated debates around percentages. Join the guys for this week's episode that seems to go over a lot of familiar sentiments in a lot more depth and insight. This is definitely not the last time the guys sit around to discuss matters of the heart. As always, let us know what you think and how this episode resonated with you. An exit strategy is something you need to be thinking about from the first days of building your business. It sounds strange to say but if you’re not beginning with the end in mind, you won’t build your business to be sellable when and if the time comes. Today’s guest, Randy Long, is a Certified Financial Planner, Exit Strategist, and has recently written a book about what it takes to successfully sell a business, “The Braveheart Exit.” Randy and I talk about the biggest mistakes business owners and entrepreneurs make when selling their business, why you need to build your business TO sell even if you don’t think you’ll be exiting it soon, and much more... Build your business with an exit strategy from the beginning, even if you never think you’ll sell it. Why? It’s pretty simple. First off, you don’t know that you won’t need to sell your business someday. It’s better to be prepared than unprepared. But second, and maybe more importantly, you want to structure your business in ways that give you maximum freedom. That means you’ll create systems and add team members that enable you to get OUT of the processes of your business. That way you’re experiencing the lifestyle freedom you want AND your business is ready to be sold and handed over to someone else should that time come. This episode is about the long view - and it’s a view that adds greater value to your life, the life of your team members, and the world.   Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll learn in this show: Welcome and introduction to “The Braveheart Exit” with Randy Long; [0:31] Imagine you’ve created a great business and sell it for a big profit; [0:47] Who is Randy Long? ; [1:50] The biggest mistakes people have when selling a business; [3:19] The one asset most bootstrapped businesses misunderstand; [6:08] What is EBITA?
