DISCLAIMER: THIS BONUS EPISODE IS FILLED WITH SPOILERS FOR THE FILM, “SINNERS,” SO DO NOT LISTEN TO IT BEFORE SEEING THE FILM. With everyone talking about Sinners these days, it felt weird that it doesn't come up in our Vampires episode, so Ed assembled a crack team of previous SATT guests to have a candid, barely fang-deep chat about the smash hit vampire film… and with Chris unavailable... may God help us. Huge thanks to Pat Casey, Josh Miller, and Jackson Stewart for returning to SATT HQ at a moment's notice. Visit this episode's show notes for links and references.
Join hosts Ed Voccola (Rick and Morty, Bless The Harts) and Chris Cullari (Blumhouse, The Aviary) for a wild trip through the world of what scares them. We're back this week with a huge episode! First, Sean and Parker are joined by friend Justin Wiese of Outer Cinema to discuss our Top 5 favorite first-time watches of 2024. Then we mix things up and Parker is joined by Jackson Stewart (director of Beyond the Gates) and Lucas Heyne to discuss his movie, "Mope." We reviewed "Mope" a couple of episodes ago and Lucas was nice enough to join us to discuss the crazy true story behind the movie, what it's like to attend a bukkakke session and so much more. Then, we celebrate the work of our man, David Lynch, by reviewing his short film, "The Cowboy and the Frenchman!" All this plus Dom Deluise Chat, plausible deniability and so much more! Direct Donloyd here! After the episode, go watch Mope and Beyond the Gates and attend an Outer Cinema screening. Then join the JFD Patreon for dozens of episodes about David Lynch!

He also directed the short Stereo-Vision, which played Beyond Fest in 2024 and features a performance by genre-favorite actress Jill Schoelen (Popcorn, The Stepfather). A lifelong fan of the work of Stuart Gordon (Re-Animator, From Beyond), Jackson found himself working alongside his hero doing script coverage and other collaborations. He also wrote for an episode of the popular hit-series Supernatural titled "Frontierland". Sean's out on vacation so Parker is joined by friend of the show and director of "Beyond the Gates," Jackson Stewart. The boys discuss the LA fires and Jackson's new project for a bit and then Jackson runs down his Top 5 Movies of 2024. And his least favorite, too. Then, the guys talk about Lucas Heyne's "Mope" (2019). The movie follows the bizarre true story of Steve Driver and Tom Dong, two porn actors stuck in the muck of z-grade entertaining while dreaming of stardom. The film stars Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Kelly Sry, David Arquette and more. All this plus no voicemails due to technical difficulties, Parker's flu, and so much more! Direct Donloyd Here. After listening to the episode, go buy Beyond the Gates and join the JFD patreon.

New year, new ambitions, same Certified Forgotten. We're ringing in 2025 with an absolute dream of a guest: David Dastmalchian. We're double-dipping on this episode because podcast fans would be correct to remember we covered 2012's Entrance with Jackson Stewart. We don't see that as an issue — it's pretty rad that multiple guests would want to champion such a "small" film. Plus, we have plenty to chat with David about, considering he's up for a Saturn award, releasing comic books, and appearing on goblin-led podcasts atop his fantastic acting career.
We're back with another banger. This week, returning champion Ben Searle joins us to talk about Warnambool, and we talk share house living with guest Jamie, Jackson Stewart. Cade is joined by Alex Clair, co-host of Cade & Friends, to discuss two retro-themed films: Cold in July (2013) and Beyond the Gates (2018). Watch the video version at: YouTube.com/@CadeThomas/streams Double Feature Movie Club is a weekly movie review show with a retro vibe. Two movies. Two people. One rambling conversation. Each film is our first time watching them. We often go off-topic. Cold in July is a 2014 American independent crime thriller film directed by Jim Mickle, written by Mickle and Nick Damici, and starring Michael C. Hall, Sam Shepard, and Don Johnson. The film takes place in 1980s Texas and is based on the novel Cold in July by author Joe R. Lansdale. Hall plays a man who kills a burglar, whose father (Shepard) subsequently seeks revenge. The plot is further complicated when a private investigator (Johnson) shows up. Beyond the Gates is a 2016 American horror film directed by Jackson Stewart and starring Barbara Crampton. It premiered on June 2, 2016, at the Los Angeles Film Festival where it won the audience award in the festival's midnight section.

I met Jackson Stewart while I was on my mission trip.We hung out at college a bit and made some good memories. On the podcast today we talked about some of his struggles and what he's learned from themA BIG reason this took so long for me to get out is because the audio quality isn't super great - we recorded this with one mic in person and yeah.... however there were some great moments.I still need to edit this one a bit but I'm releasing it as-is for now as I'm sure it can help someone right now. Even still keep that in mind. I'll finish the edits for this one this weekend and edit this description. :)Support the show

If there is a list of the best horror movies made for under $10,000, then Entrance must be high on that list. Directed by Patrick Horvath and Dallas Hallam, Entrance is a tour de force of indie filmmaking. And who better to champion independent horror than another independent horror director who's been in those same trenches? Join Jackson Stewart (Beyond the Gates) for a wide-discussion on voyeurism, Los Angeles, and the dancing, naked Chads of Friday the 13th: The Video Game fame.

Kevin's goofing off this week at his annual Bostonian Birthday Bash, so we reached out to the one and only (hatless) Jackson Stewart (of Beyond the Gates renown!) to fill in while we chat about three killer classics. Up first! It's Sam Peckinpah's classic revisionist western The Wild Bunch, from 1969! A band of outdated outlaws spill sweat and blood in equal parts into the Mexican desert, and boy has it never looked so danged gorgeous. But will grandpa-skeptic Parker Bowman dig these cowboys? Next up! Clint Eastwood stars and directs (for the first time!) with Play Misty For Me (from 1971)! A suspenseful psychosexual 70s thriller set up in the Big Sur region of Central California, some critics (on this podcast) have noted the bizarre haircuts of the leading actors as worth taking notice of. Finally! Of course, it's 1993's Arcade, because Parker's obsession with VR-based content continues, even when it's produced by Full Moon Pictures. All this plus cutting it up with the boys, vintage wallpapers, a podcaster's fatal fate, the return of Nightmare Fede, a vampiric inquiry, sun-bronzed beach boy (not beach bum) bonanzas, Don Siegel sidebars, bad VR, a check-in with the junkmailers, virtual Kevin, your winning numbers, nerd news and even more! Recorded live-to-tape on National Peanut Cluster Day, 2022!! Direct Donloyd HereGot a movie suggestion for the show, or better yet an opinion on next week's movies? Did you have cable in the 80's or 90's? If so, chances are, you've probably seen Beastmaster. Or maybe you caught the sequel on VHS? Or the third one which was made-for-TV, perhaps? Well, this week we discuss all things Beastmaster as we are joined by friend of the show, writer/director Jackson Stewart.Up first, fresh off horror classic Phantasm, director Don Coscarelli tackles the sword and sorcery genre with Beastmaster from 1982. Starring Marc Singer as the titular Beastmaster, who falls in love with slave girl Tanya Roberts while trying to defeat an evil wizard played by Rip Torn! Then, Coscarelli's gone but Singer is back for Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time. This time the Beastmaster magically gets warped to modern day Los Angeles. The fish-out-of-water story is well-worn, but is it any fun? Find out. Finally, we close thing out with Beastmaster III: The Eye of Braxus. This final Beastmaster movie was made for TV and aired on May 24, 1996 on NBC. All this plus Beastmaster memories, Thundarr The Barbarian, the boob scale, the "oh" drop, the hottest blu-rays of the week and so much more. Mortal Kombat caused a chain reaction of parental fear in the 90s, so congress tried to ban video games. Video games fought back. In the early 90s, home video game consoles exploded in popularity. But with the newfound success came attention from concerned parents who didn't like seeing their kids exploding each others' heads in the violent fighting game, Mortal Kombat. This lead to a massively important congressional hearing in 1993 that would decide the fate of video games forever. This hearing would wind up changing the landscape of pop culture forever. The listeners demanded it, so here we boldly go where no podcast has gone before, into The Summer of Spock! To celebrate the festivities, we beam up director Jackson Stewart (Beyond the Gates) to discuss the 3 most (in)famous Star Trek flicks!Up first, in Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan from 1982, Captain Kirk (William Shatner) has to face off against an old foe (Ricardo Montalban) but pays the ultimate price when Dr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) parishes in the battle. Then, as it turns out maybe Spock isn't dead after all. Maybe he has regenerated as a rapidly aging boy on a distant planet. Maybe if Captain Kirk and crew can steal a ship and find him and get him to Vulcan he can live again. That is, if a group of Klingons (lead by Christopher Lloyd) don't show up and fuck things up in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock from 1984.And finally, the crew of the Starship Enterprise has to travel back to the late 20th century to steal some humpback whales that can communicate with an alien probe that's threatening to blow up Earth in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home from 1986. Yes, this is the one where Spock does the Vulcan nerve pinch on the punk rocker on the bus.All this plus our history with The Trek, tales from the drive-in, Wilford Brimley's secret history, sad Nerd News, this week's blu-ray releases and so much more!LISTEN NOW:MP3 Direct DonloydAlso, if you like the show, please take a minute and subscribe and/or comment on us on iTunes, Stitcher, Blubrry or Podfeed.net. Now you're playing with power. T-U-R-T-L-E POWER! We're joined this week by BEYOND THE GATES director Jackson Stewart to talk one of the best comic book movies ever made: TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (1990). I'm not sure that we've ever been as united in our praise for a film as we are with this one, although I'm not sure what that says about us. Along the way we talk about a wide range of turtle topics, like the comics, the cartoon, video games, and all other matters reptilian (yet for some reason always referred to as amphibians?) Episode 16 sees Andy and Mitch joined by Jackson Stewart, director of Beyond The Gates (starring former guest Graham Skipper and genre legend, Barbara Crampton). His chosen film? White Of The Eye! Directed by British filmmaker Donald Cammell and starrind David Keith and Cathy Moriarty, White of the Eye is an oddity in the truest sense of the word. Not to be entered into lightly, it is a perplexing, disorienting and frequently baffling foray into the darkness at the heart of a family. The synopsis is as follows: A serial killer is on the loose in and around the small community of Globe, Arizona, and housewife Joan White gradually comes to suspect that her opera-loving hi-fi engineer husband Paul might know more than he s letting on... Episode 16 sees Andy and Mitch joined by Jackson Stewart, director of Beyond The Gates (starring former guest Graham Skipper and genre legend, Barbara Crampton). Thank Jason It’s FRIDAY THE 13TH!! If the fact that Episode 24 disappeared still haunts you, you’re not alone. Patrick & Gena are replacing it with this special edition and bringing along two great guests to help us: leader of the Corpse Club & F This Movie, Patrick Bromley and the co-writer/director of Beyond The Gates, Jackson Stewart! Both of them love Part 5: A New Beginning and they’re here to defend the indefensible as we decide if this movie has an “accidental snuff film” feeling, debate whether anyone involved in the movie has ever met another human being before, compare notes on our new favorite band “Panda” and finally get to the bottom of the weirdest #GetBunked committed to film! Also, is this the only Friday film to feature the breathtaking art of mime? All this and we go to town on a new Choose Your Own Death-venture and you’ve got the best way to ever celebrate Friday the 13th EVER!! Never fear - new episodes of Kill By Kill are made available every other Friday! Have something to say? Reach out on Twitter @killbykillpod or email us: killbykillpod@gmail.com.
