She also suggested aligning the board's suggestions with the organization's strategic plan. Moving on to the second question, the topic shifted to branding. . . . . .how to find an advertising agency or marketing firm willing to work pro bono. Jarrett cautioned that while pro bono work might be available, it's essential to budget for branding. She recommended looking for community events or co-working spaces that offer pro bono services and emphasized the importance of a well-thought-out branding strategy. The third question came from a viewer in Dayton, OH, who wanted to know the best person to serve as a board liaison for a nonprofit. Muhi Khwaja joined the discussion at this point and shared that the executive assistant to the CEO or executive director often serves as a board liaison. Over her career, Jarrett has served on multiple capital campaign teams totaling more than $86 million. Jarrett serves as the co-host of the American Nonprofit Academy's weekly "The Nonprofit Show," which features nonprofit thought leaders and topics. Alan Knobloch has held positions in the nonprofit sector at The Nature Conservancy Arizona, St. Joseph's Hospital and Barrow Neurological Institute, Phoenix Children's Hospital Foundation, and Valley of the Sun United Way. In addition to being a Certified Fund Raising Executive from the Association of Fund Raising Professionals, he has earned a diploma from the National Planned Giving Institute from the College of William and Mary. Rich Frazier has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 30 years. In his role as senior consultant with IPM Advancement, Rich offers extensive understanding and knowledge in major gifts program management, fund development, strategic planning, and board of directors development. “The rise in women philanthropy is now,” says Jarrett Ransom, CEO and Founder of the Rayvan Group. As a self-proclaimed Non-profit Nerd, Jarrett is a powerhouse strategist for major non-profit organizations. But her story wasn’t always so rosy. Jarrett’s giving spirit comes, in part, from the fact that once was a single mom in need of financial support.  In 2009, Jarrett worked for a major non-profit with a $21 million operating budget. But the financial crisis hit hard - she had to lay off her entire team, and then she got laid off six months later. Soon after she found out she was pregnant. Jarrett launched her own business to support her new family, but she was struggling. She had to go on food stamps and government support. Then one day, in the grocery store, her mindset shifted. She decided she wouldn’t be a victim of her fate. She would survive this.  Since then, Jarrett has worked hard with many coaches, including Vannessa, to change her money story, and help her business thrive.
