During childhood, our guest moved with her mother and two siblings attending 12 different schools in five different states. After leaving home in high school, she lived on the streets sleeping under the bushes until friends figured out her lifestyle. About Dr. Katie Nall Katie Nall, Ph.D., is a Florida mathematician, a TEDx speaker, a professional member of National Speakers Association, and an Accredited Master Trainer and Practitioner in Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as EFT or Tapping. Dr. Nall shows others how to dissolve WAFFLES – worries, anxiety, fear, frustration, lethargy, exhaustion, and STRESS™! During her dissertation research, her focus was on ways for students to excel in Mathematics (especially adults returning or starting college).  She wanted to help college students overcome fear, phobia, and stress related to math class and math tests. In 2010, she found Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or tapping) and began offering the process to students. Students reported they passed math class and found math easier to learn. In contrast to the four years she took to earn her Mathematics Education Ph.D. from Florida Institute of Technology, Dr. Nall spent eight years to earn her Master Trainer certificate in EFT. As a professional speaker, Dr. Nall presents to groups who acknowledge the damage caused by stress and are looking for quick, effective methods to eliminate stress. With 80% of medical visits caused by stress and the major cause of death, stress management is crucial to optimal health and consequently peak performance. In addition to her demo, Dr. Katie also talks about how EFT tapping proves to be more effective than cognitive behavior therapy, quantum memory, and her many client stories that show how EFT tapping works. Reinterpreting The Body's Energy Pathways Around the 1990s, the Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT tapping was first introduced at Stanford University by an electrical engineer. The proponent was Professor Gary Craig. Before EFT was developed, Gary avidly observed the methods of psychologists and psychiatrists when treating patients with mental issues like depression. When traditional talk therapy didn't seem to work, these experts tried a different technique from Chinese traditions. The experts that Gary observed started interacting with the energy pathways found in the human body. They saw through research that tapping different points of the body helps the clients with more effectiveness than talk therapy. As an engineer, these energy pathways looked like electrical circuits to Gary. From there, Gary combined his observations from psychology experts with his discipline as an engineer and what they learned from Chinese medicine. Thus, EFT exists. In this episode, Allison Liddle interviews Dr. Katie Nall. Katie Nall, Ph.D., is a Florida mathematician, a TEDx speaker, a professional member of National Speakers Association, and an Advanced Certified Practitioner in Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as EFT or Tapping. Dr. Nall enjoys showing others how to dissolve their WAFFLES – worries, anxiety, fear, frustration, lethargy, exhaustion, and STRESS! Dr. Katie and Allison discuss her research on ways for students to excel in Mathematics (especially adults returning or starting college), Dr. Nall was particularly interested in helping students overcome fear, phobia, and stress related to math class and math tests. In 2010, she learned of the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or tapping) and began offering the process to students who were open to the different approach. Students reported they passed math class, earned 100% on a math exam, and found math easier. It was at this time that she began serious training in EFT and became a Certified Practitioner in EFT. Dr. Nall now shares this knowledge not only with math students, but with others who struggles with stress, fear, phobias, and anxiety. In this episode of the podcast, we're talking about releasing negative emotions that are blocked or stuck in the body using the technique called EFT (emotional freedom technique) or tapping. Katie walks us through a tapping session and explains the benefits of practicing on a regular basis. “There's only a few spots on your body that you work on and those hit about 98% of your organs. Now, why would you be concerned about connecting to your organs? Well, if you ever heard of a broken heart or an upset stomach, that our emotions get stored in different parts of our body. Tapping on these different acupressure points, kind of like an acupuncture would do. They are related to the different organs in our body.
