Ilan speaks to host Pamela Ritchie about current US unemployment numbers, productivity, and how the latest data is creating optimism in the markets. Ilan who previously worked at the Bank of Canada says the BoC's is not motivated by geopolitics or other macro themes, but rather influenced on monetary policy and not politics. Ilan says the GAA team continues to be overweight US equities, albeit slightly trimmed down. He adds they are also overweight commodities and are invested into EM as they see this area filled with potential growth. Recorded on August 1, 2024. With Canada's annual inflation rate cooling, CPI falling to 2.7 percent in June and slower growth all around, how will this affect the Bank of Canada's next move? Institutional portfolio manager, Ilan Kolet sits down with host Pamela Ritchie and shares his thoughts on interest rates, inflation, and the Canadian dollar. With the consistent cooling down of inflation, Ilan says this could give the BoC the green light to become less restrictive. He says we will probably see a cut real soon, but he adds, rates will noy go back to the historic lows we've seen in the past. He points out that households, especially Canadian households will still feel the pinch which will trigger cutbacks on alot of discretionary spending of Canadians. Ilan who previously worked at the Bank of Canada says the BoC is aware of this stress on Canadians and it has no plans to implode Canadian households. Ilan says what we need to focus on is improving Canadian productivity. Canada's GDP didn't see any growth in 2023 and has lagged greatly behind the US. Ilan says currently the Global Asset Allocation team is overweight US equities specifically in the productivity sector and underweight Canada. He adds the team is also focused on commodities including gold, oil, and global natural resources. Recorded on July 16, 2024. Today on the show, institutional portfolio manager Ilan Kolet comments on the recent Federal Reserve announcement and what this means for markets and the positioning of the Fidelity's Global Asset Allocation team. Ilan says what stood out to him in the Fed's decision to hold rates is that there has been great progress made on inflation, but at the same time, in the last few months inflation has not been cooperative. There have been some lags in inflation indicators, but at this point it hasn't shown up in the data. Once it does, inflation should move towards the target of 2 percent. Ilan points out the Fed decision doesn't change much in the team's positioning. The GAA team are still positioned stubbornly as he puts it for elevated inflation and what they think might be a very rare productivity expansion. Ilan also touches on the 60/40 portfolio, what a mini stagflation means, and compare the US versus Canada economic story. Ilan Kolet, Institutional Portfolio manager in Fidelity's Global Asset Allocation Team, joins us to discuss the most important questions he and his team mates, David Wolf and David Tulk have been fielding at the start of 2024. We delve into the unexpected shifts in monetary policy led by the Federal Reserve and mull over the repercussions of potential rate cuts on inflation volatility, weaving through the intricacies of the Fed's data-driven stance and 'pivot' toward a less restrictive monetary environment. In the context of historical reflections and economic projections, Kolet elaborates on the team's optimism regarding the US market, supported by a belief in a productivity boom that dallies with the possibility of economic prosperity, low inflation, and equity strength. We get into Canadian fiscal policy, where Kolet voices concerns about Canada's macroeconomy potentially trailing in equities and fixed income, and how the team is allocating to Canada. Kolet sheds light on the team's investment strategy, from high-conviction underweights and overweights to the complexities and nuances of handling asset allocation.Throughout the episode, it's clear that the core of the discussion isn't merely the transactional aspects of investment but relates to the broader challenges advisors face when reconciling market complexities with client needs. The episode provides Fidelity's highest conviction global asset allocation guidance through the labyrinth of 2024's financial mixed and uncertain landscape.

Today we welcome Institutional portfolio manager Ilan Kolet as he discusses the Global Asset Allocation Team's positioning for Fidelity managed portfolios in 2024. Ilan discusses the differences in performance between a Balanced Fund and a Guaranteed Investment Certificate, or GIC, in Canada. Balanced Funds performed far better by the end of 2023 than in the year prior, surpassing the GIC. The risk adjusted return that can be provided in multi asset class funds has now become a better prospect for longer-term investors, although the GIC could still benefit those with a shorter investment horizon. Ilan explains how Canada's upcoming productivity prospects and how they differ from the United States. While America's productivity has been on a steep incline that does not look to be slowing down, Canada's standard of living has not improved since the nineties with no major changes in the near future. The track record for each country is very telling regarding this year, and Canada does not have America's airtight labour market or declining inflation that would solidify a notable increase in potential growth. Ilan covers the current housing shortage present In Canada, claiming it to be out of balance in terms of consistently low rates, lack of oversight of foreign investments and more. Today on the program we check in with Institutional portfolio manager Ilan Kolet as he gives us his thoughts on the last Bank of Canada rate announcement of 2023, and what he sees in store for the New Year. The BoC kept its policy rate unchanged at 5 per cent, but it also warned that rate hikes aren't off the table in 2024. Ilan says the expectation for next year is that discretionary consumer spending will continue to pull back as many Canadians want to ensure their principal mortgage gets paid. The more pullback you see could signal an upcoming recession. The US is experiencing a different story as the labour market remains tight and inflation slows down, plus the mortgage structure in the US is very different compared to Canada. Ilan says the Global Asset allocation team remains underweight Canadian equities. He adds with serious macroeconomic headwinds, he believes Canada will lag. The team is overweight US equities and underweight the Canadian dollar and overweight the US dollar hoping this will be a shock absorber for the fund. This podcast was recorded on December 12, 2023. Today on the show, we welcome Institutional portfolio manager Ilan Kolet to the program. Ilan is part of the Global Asset Allocation team, which manages approximately $77. 2 billion in multi-asset class funds for Canadian investors. Ilan gives an overview of the global markets, why we might appear to be in a recession, and how the GAA is positioning themselves in this current market environment. Bloomberg recently described Canada as “appearing to be in a recession.” Ilan points out that might in fact be true, as the flow of data in Canada has stalled. Our GDP flat-lined post recovery and we may in fact look back at this as a recession after some data revision. He adds it's not going to get easier with elevated debt loans and lots of tightening from the Bank of Canada. Even with the Canadian dollar taking a dive, our economy appears to be resilient, which Ilan says is more akin to sustainability. Nevertheless, even with elevated rates of debt and high interest rates, growth in Canada hasn't slowed down and our unemployment rates have been relatively unaffected. The GAA team does expect and is positioned for a further weakening of the Canadian dollar. He adds they are underweight Canadian equities and the dollar and overweight inflation protected assets, meaning commodity producers and inflation protected debt. Overall, Ilan says they are very close to their strategic allocation. Recorded on October 31, 2023. Del 5. The Science and Industry Museum i Manchester.
Institutional Portfolio Manager Ilan Kolet joins us on the program and walks us through the inflation story, the resiliency of the market, and how the Canadian consumer is faring in this current market environment. Ilan is part of Fidelity's Global Asset Allocation team. He says the team expected to see stress in the Canadian economy but that does not seem to be the case. The Canadian Household has also been more resilient than the team would have expected. He says two major things have contributed to the sustainability of the Canadian Consumer – excess savings built up during the pandemic and generational transfer of wealth. But the question remains – when will this cushion of savings run out? The GAA team predicts the middle of 2024. Ilan looks ahead to the Bank of Canada's upcoming rate announcement and believes until the BOC sees cooled housing, spending, and employment, we can expect further rate hikes. He also gives an overview of the team's asset allocation – adding that they continue to be underweight Canadian and US equities and overweight international and emerging markets. On the bond side, they are underweight investment grade, overweight credit and spread factors and of course, inflation protected bonds. Recorded September 5, 2023. Statistics Canada has reported that the annual inflation rate slowed to 4.3% in March. This is the lowest level since August 2021, and off the highs of February's 5.2%. Does this latest data support the Bank of Canada's decision to pause? And what does it mean for interest rates, and the real economy moving forward? Institutional portfolio manager Ilan Kolet is today's guest, sharing his outlook on inflation and what he's optimistic about in the months ahead. With host Pamela Ritchie, Ilan provides a deep dive into the key points explored in the Global Asset Allocation team's recent white paper, which includes a look at where inflation is now, and where is it likely heading. This in the context of central bank policy. Ilan also explains why the team doesn't believe that rate decreases are on the horizon. Early January's jobs data out of the U.S. showed a smaller-than-expected increase in wage growth and a soft reading on service-sector activity for the month of December. The data came just days after the release of December's FOMC minutes, which highlighted that the Fed is on track to keep rates high. But just how high will policy interest rates have to go? How is Fidelity's Global Asset Allocation team responding to the current economic and monetary policy environment within their multi-asset class funds? To offer his insights on all this and more, we're joined by Ilan Kolet, Institutional Portfolio Manager. Ilan notes that wage growth remains exceptionally robust in Canada and the U.S. – which leads to higher prices for goods and services passed on to the consumer. They also discuss inflation's effect on the traditional 60/40 portfolio, with Ilan drawing comparisons between 2022 and the 1970s environment. He shares that commodities do well in the presence of elevated inflation. The Fidelity Inflation-Focused Fund was positioned in commodities throughout 2022. On the topic of positioning, we'll also get an update from Ilan on the Fidelity Managed Portfolios, which includes some defensive positioning currently. Another key takeaway is Ilan noting that 2023 is an important year to closely follow Central Bank communication. More on this and more coming up. Recorded on January 9, 2023. Frequent guest Ilan Kolet is back with us again today. Ilan is an institutional portfolio manager on Fidelity's Global Asset Allocation team who manage several funds for Canadian investors, including the Fidelity Managed Portfolio suite of funds. We caught up with Ilan the week after the U.S. Federal Reserve's Jackson Hole Economic Symposium. Ilan looks at key takeaways, and unpacks what this has meant for the U.S. equity markets, and what may be next for inflation, rates, and possible recession. A few findings include hiring may slow and unemployment drifting higher in the U.S., services prices being largely determined by the labour market and wage growth, and the Fidelity Managed Portfolios continuing to hold Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) as inflation protection. Canadian inflation for the month of June has come in at 8.1% - slightly lower than the 8.4% expected by economists. While this month's figure does provide some relief that the acceleration hasn't been as bad as economists were expecting, inflation is sitting above 8% for the first time since the early 1980s. So how should we interpret core inflation rising 5% from May? Today's guest, Ilan Kolet, is here to answer that question. Ilan is an institutional portfolio manager on Fidelity's Global Asset Allocation Team. His prior roles with Fidelity Investments (U.S.), Bloomberg, and the Bank of Canada, make him the perfect guest to analyze inflation. Recorded on July 20, 2022. On June 15th, the Federal Reserve hiked its key benchmark interest rate by 75 basis points - the highest rate hike since 1994. Stocks immediately rallied following the announcement, as the aggressive hike signalled an inflation slow-down, which could ultimately end fears of a recession. But then, markets were drastically in the red the next day, which is when host Pamela Ritchie spoke with today's guest, Ilan Kolet. Ilan is an Institutional Portfolio Manager on Fidelity's Global Asset Allocation Team, and unpacks what this rate hike means from an investment perspective, what might be coming next from the Federal Reserve, and what else is happening globally. Ilan believes the reports and data are showing that inflation will be stubbornly elevated for a while, and reminds us of three questions to ask when understanding inflation: What's happening? Why should we care? And what are we doing about it? Additionally, Ilan comments on supply chains, housing, and why transparency from central banks is important, among other topics. With inflation at a 40 year high and more interest rate hikes to come, consumers are feeling the pinch as the cost of gas, groceries and housing continue to skyrocket as we've seen in recent months. Here at home, unsustainable household debt is also a major issue plaguing Canadian families, and the cost of servicing this debt only continues to rise. Joining us today to unpack what all of this means from an investment perspective is Ilan Kolet, Institutional Portfolio Manager on Fidelity's Global Asset Allocation team. Ilan shares how the GAA team is responding to the current economic and monetary policy environment within their multi-asset class funds. This includes their funds being overweight to commodity producers. Ilan also reflects on where we are in the cycle, and looks at the Canadian housing market. Recorded on April 19, 2022. Blasting out loud dance music of all sorts had been my way of coping with life as a child, and in that sense, it's still how I deal with sh!t to date, so yesterday I took advantage of this mix and let it out. This is the result - house and techno with a dash of disco, a ton of passion, and a message of love to this world." - @hilitkolet

Ilan Kolet, Institutional Portfolio Manager, speaks about inflation, supply chain issues, the labour market, and Fidelity Inflation-Focused Fund in this episode. Commencing with inflation, when asked about sectors that were closed/affected by the pandemic, Ilan remarked that it should be unsurprising that we are seeing inflation in those sectors. He also notes that he and his team are seeing and recognizing what all of us are seeing in news headlines and in our day-to-day lives, adding that he is seeing prices move materially higher and not all of it being transitory. Furthermore, he notes that we have a tremendous increase in the prices of goods from a year ago, and that service inflation will dictate the path of underlying inflation over the medium term. Looking at supply chain issues, Ilan believes we shouldn't expect supply chain issues to disappear so quickly as disruptions will take longer to normalize. He also adds that Fidelity analysts estimate that these disruptions will normalize in about 18-24 months. Ilan considers the labour market exceptionally tight. He believes the way to resolve the tightness is to increase wages. Ilan also anticipates by mid-2022 we should have clearer view of the labour market, wages, and underlying service inflation. Del 5. Del 3. Institutional Portfolio Manager for Fidelity's Global Asset Allocation team, Ilan Kolet, discusses the recent Jackson Hole Symposium and where the GAA stands on the positioning of its funds. The annual symposium brought to light the rising concern of inflation and the tapering process that is set to begin by year end. Ilan said from the meeting, the GAA team is thinking about three main issues: the timing around the removal of stimulus, the rising interest of inflation, and the labour market. Ilan also discusses the level of inflation that would disrupt the equity markets and the differences and the similarities between the US Federal Reserve strategies and the Bank of Canada. The topic of rising inflation continues to dominate headlines as June's Consumer Price Index report recorded the largest year-over-year increase in over 13 years. On today's podcast, host Pamela Ritchie is joined by Portfolio Manager David Tulk and Institutional Portfolio manager Ilan Kolet from Fidelity's Global Asset Allocation Team. David and Ilan discuss inflation and how investors can best protect their assets in an uncertain inflationary environment. David notes that purchasing assets that have a hedge against inflation risk can counteract liabilities that have some link to inflation. Ilan says that certain inflationary data will fall out at various points in time as they are temporary. He believes that increases in airfares and car rental prices, supply chain disruptions, and the labour market and service inflation will fade as we emerge from the pandemic. Ilan and David also discuss whether it is best to hedge for inflation or outperform it, noting that the asset classes that best hedge unexpected changes to the inflation rate are commodities, gold, oil, natural resource producing stocks. Recorded on August 4, 2021.
Institutional Portfolio Manager Ilan Kolet and SVP of Asset Allocation Research Dirk Hofschire discuss what rising inflation means for investment portfolios and asset allocation. Ilan talks about the dangers of inflation shock, noting that we should be more concerned with the medium-term, underlying inflation that could change things. Dirk also adds that we are currently in an environment where it is difficult to tell whether the growth is real or it is inflation since inflation is difficult to measure. Additionally, they discuss the degree to which equitable policies are sustainable and offer insight into how real assets may play a part in asset allocation with respect to inflation protection. Dirk comments on the economic reopening saying he believes there are many potential tailwinds as consumers are ready to spend and release their pent-up demand impulses. Recorded on June 4, 2021
Institutional Portfolio Manager Ilan Kolet is the newest member of the Global Asset Allocation team. He works closely with Geoff Stein, David Wolf, and David Tulk. On this episode of FidelityConnects, Ilan provides context and an outlook on the Canadian Economy and other countries, to help understand what it all means in terms of opportunities in the market. Ilan comments on inflation, public debt levels in Canada, and emerging markets. He also shares his thoughts on the unemployment rate globally, how it affects the market, and what this all means for Canadian investors watching financial headlines closely. Recorded on March 26, 2021.

Just det.
I nordöstra Pennsylvania i USA ligger Centralia.
Programledare: Marie-Louise Kristola.
