Our guest today is the phenomenal indie rock songwriter Blondshell. The project of Los Angeles-based artist Sabrina Teitelbaum first made waves in 2023 with her self-titled debut, which earned critical acclaim worldwide for its raw, intense guitar work and sharp lyricism. Today, she returns with her second album If You Asked for a Picture, a bold and emotionally layered evolution that explores themes of control, self-awareness, and growth. In this episode, we chat with Sabrina about the making of the new record, reuniting with producer Yves Rothman, and her desire to experiment with traditionally masculine sonic textures. We also dive into how she fell in love with songwriting, her memories of Laneway Festival, and the possibility of returning to Australia soon.Blondshell: Instagram / Spotify Purchase If You Asked for a Picture and find Blondshell tour dates hereVisit our official website here and follow us across our socials.

It's finally happened: we're living in a post-Twilight world! Hopefully, we're also starting to live in a post-mediocre films starting Robert Pattinson world. Unfortunately, we are watching another film directed by David Cronenberg, which does not bode well, and Robert Pattinson is once again in a car, but this time it's not even a limo, it's just a regular car. And his character isn't even rich! What's even the point? This film also contains an alarming amount of what we might call... intra-family romance. Also ghosts. Also Julianne Moore.Plus, we debrief about Laneway Festival, Stacey gets very upset about a dog, and Harry won't stop talking about films that are not the film we are currently watching.Don't forget to subscribe to Poster Boys, and leave us a comment and rating!Keen to see our beautiful faces? TAHLIA BORG from the Adelaide, South Australian band 'Teenage Joans' joins me this week in The Engine Room to discuss her musical journey which began when she was 8 years old. Tahlia played in various school bands prior to 'Teenage Joans' which is her first working band. 'Teenage Joans' formed in 2018, and are an indie rock, pop, punk rock, rock duo, self-describing their sound as "juice-box punk-pop", comprising of vocalist and drummer Tahlia Borg and vocalist and guitarist Cahli Blakers. The duo rose to prominence with their debut single "By the Way". 'Teenage Jones' was voted "South Australian Best Live Act" in the 2019 National Live Music Awards. They placed first in South Australia's "Heaps Good 50" countdown, which is run by local station play/pause/play in both 2019 & 2020, and they took out first place in triple j's Unearthed High in 2020, with their second single "Three Leaf Clover", which was released in March 2020. Not only does this two-piece powerhouse play beautifully crafted songs that have audiences singing along the first time they hear them, but the songs are as real and important as they are unapologetic. Going from strength to strength, 'Teenage Joans' have already shared stages with the likes of 'Ruby Fields', 'The Hard Aches', 'Clowns' and 'Bec Stevens', just to name a few. In their huge debut year, 'Teenage Joans' were invited to perform at Laneway Festival 2019 as part of the "Girls Rock!" Showcase, and were a highlight performance at A Day Of Clarity 2019. Their debut 5 track extended play, "Taste of Me", which was released on 28 May 2021, has had over 1 million streams! During the interview we discuss Tahlia's early influences, how she met Cahli, what it is like to be a female drummer, the positives and negatives of the Covid-19 pandemic on the band, memorable gig stories, Flinders University studies and the direction that her work will take upon completion, working at 'Music Corner North', the duo's plans for the future, Tahlia's top 3 local drummers, and we end the interview by playing 20 questions in 2 minutes. A quiet kid from suburban Adelaide, Sione Teumohenga always kept their passion for music private and locked away. Bit by bit and song by song, however, saw them unravel that shyness and insecurity to ultimately reveal a blooming, blossoming and creative songwriter. The last few years has seen Teumohenga at the helm of Lonelyspeck, creating some of the most unique and immersive experimental/electronic music that this country - or indeed any country - has to offer. Through Lonelyspeck, Teumohenga has gotten to play Laneway Festival, collaborate with Allday and even open for The Dillinger Escape Plan - and they're far from finished, too. Back in June during a visit to Sydney, Teumohenga had a chat out the front of a busy Surry Hills cafe and gave a quick guided tour through nu-metal discoveries, high-school bands and opening up to Ableton. Lonelyspeck's new EP is out November 15 via Good Manners Records.Abyssal Body Lonelyspeck will be opening for Baths on November 19 in Melbourne and November 20 in Sydney. As New Zealanders across the country get out and enjoy a variety of music festival, the question around drug testing rears its head once again.Aucklanders today got to enjoy all that Laneway Festival had to offer, while One Love took over Tauranga this weekend. While most are there to enjoy the music, the festivals have turned into political fodder as the debate rages about whether drug testing should be legalised.Andrew Dickens says that while he has no issues with drugs such as marijuana, he finds pills such as ecstasy "evil chemistry" and should not be encouraged."This is not organic. As soon as someone starts talking about LSDs, MDMAs, popping pills, it gives me these heebie-jebbies. I've never done it, never will." However, he feels that people don't deserve to die over mistakes. Talkback callers were divided over the matter, with a mix of support for the move while others were strongly against. Caller Tom says that the performers should have to be tested as well, as they promote drug culture. While Dagan points out that there is a lot more information about drugs out there that makes them a lot safer. LISTEN TO THE TALKBACK ABOVE
