He also highlights the significance of having a to-do list based on quarterly, monthly, and weekly goals, which helps to determine the one thing to accomplish each day. Have you ever had your prayers answered in ways you least expected it?In today's episode of What's The Story, Peter Awad shares his story of how a simple prayer walk on the beach turned into a series of life-altering events that led to unexpected blessings, including the miraculous healing of his daughter. Join us as we delve into the highs and lows of finding God in life's trials and the power of community in our modern age. Here's a summary of this week's story:Peter met his wife on spring break in The Bahamas, and despite initially falling away from faith, he eventually found his way back to God through a church which his wife also started attending at around the same time. Peter reflects on the interesting timing and how he can now see God's hand in his life, despite it being confusing at the time.Peter shares about how a series of events led to his 14-year-old daughter having a stroke but through that experience, he discovered a profound group of men who meet every Friday and have sparked business opportunities and opportunities to serve. He reflects on how God works in mysterious ways, sometimes not giving us what we want, but what we need. His daughter's sickness was a difficult journey for the family but despite the doctors saying there was no healing process, they held on to their faith and community support, which ultimately led to her healing.Peter shares his experience growing up as a non-Caucasian Egyptian in the US and how it never occurred to him that he was different until he moved to a mostly Norwegian town. Despite this, Peter is proud of his Egyptian-Filipino heritage. He advises listeners to be deliberate about building a support system of believers before going through trials and hardships, as community is incredibly powerful and necessary for survival. It is important to know your neighbors and be a part of a community, as life is a team sport.Peter discovered his ability to coach through a journey of self-awareness and focusing on his superpowers, which includes the ability to connect with people and help them discover solutions to their problems. He now does leadership coaching, incorporating biblical principles and helping people improve their tendencies and actions for a better reality. He feels that his work is fulfilling and a form of full-time ministry.ABOUT PETER:Peter Awad is an Executive Coach to Christian Businessmen, Co-Founder of Mission Meats, and Founder of Import Auto Performance. How do you launch a profitable business without taking on a ton of employees or dealing with brick-and-mortar retailers? Peter Awad, co-founder of Mission Meats, breaks it all down in this episode. You’ll love hearing about Peter’s upbringing in a family of first-generation immigrant entrepreneurs. He also discusses how he got his start hustling in the early days of e-commerce (remember Mail Boxes Etc.?). You’ll also learn how Peter wound up miserable when he realized his job didn’t match his natural strengths and how interviewing other entrepreneurs shifted his perspective and inspired him to change careers. Peter offers useful insight into what makes a great (and terrible) partnership, how he and his partner came up with the same company name and logo independently(!), how he overcame his inability to focus, and why the person is more important than the idea. He goes on to explain the concept of a “slow hustle”—and how it may just help you navigate the ups and downs of entrepreneurship. Plus, Peter describes how Mission Meats is able to test products without a big upfront investment, how he gets instant customer feedback, why ego is the enemy of a profitable business, and how philanthropy motivates him to succeed. And be sure to listen until the end to hear a conversation about passing down business knowledge to the next generation. Download this episode today, and subscribe so you won’t miss the next! In This Episode We Cover: How Mission Meats uses “lean startup” principles How Peter overcame his “focus problem” by giving up on good ideas Why he likes to ask, “OK, but why YOU?” The importance of partners checking their egos at the door Why “slow hustle” sums up his approach to business How starting a podcast affected his career choices How to teach your kids about entrepreneurship And SO much more! In this episode… Business as mission is a concept that is becoming a bigger topic of discussion these days in entrepreneurial circles. Peter Awad and the team at Mission Meats are at the center of many of those conversations because their company is poised to make money SO that they can support causes that bring truly benefit to real people. Mission is anything that brings a blessing or benefit to people - from food projects, to clean water, to disaster relief - the point is that the business profits fuel helping people in disadvantaged or poor parts of the globe. Peter Awad and his company have been working that angle for years, supporting many causes that they believe in. If you want to run a business but don’t want it all to be about you and the profits you’re making, business as mission is a concept you should consider. It’s a way to build the business for a bigger WHY than you may typically have, and you’ll be changing the world one dollar at a time. Peter Awad also shares the story of Import Auto Performance, a company he began simply because he needed to make some money. He tells how he started out by sourcing his products from a friend and shipping them out of the back of his truck before Amazon was even on the scene. Today it’s ramped up to an unbelievably complex and specialized business. On this episode of Inspired Insider you’re going to hear the heart of a true entrepreneur, a guy who knows what it means to hustle the traditional way and what it means to do what he calls a “slow hustle.” You can learn more about Peter Awad’s story and life in business on this episode. It’s hard to be a generous person when you’re experiencing hard times. But Peter Awad, who Founded Import Auto Performance which he has grown to 7 figures, discovered that those are EXACTLY the times you need to practice generosity. Peter’s company, IAPDirect.com has been selling car parts online for over 15 years. He is also Co-Founder of Mission Meats that sells grass fed beef sticks and bars and they even donate a portion of the profits to organizations. If that was not enough he runs the Slow Hustle podcast showcasing the massive roller coaster that is Entrepreneurship. He manages to do all of this with 4 kids! Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll learn: [0:10] Jeremy’s introduction of Peter Awad, guest on this episode. [1:36] The low and high moment for Peter: The Real Estate meltdown. [4:26] Peter’s proudest business achievement so far. [5:20] Why the “slow hustle” and what does it mean? In this episode… Peter Awad describes his hardest time in business as the events surrounding the Real Estate crash in recent years past. He lost a significant real estate portfolio, had to close down a business - in essence everything was gone. It was during those moments he learned that you have to be a generous person through and through regardless of the circumstances. You can hear how he learned this vital lesson as he tells the story on this episode. The highest point in Peter Awad’s business career was strangely combined with his lowest point because of the lessons he learned about generosity and trusting God. His perspective now is that if you can’t practice generosity when you don’t have money it will be harder to learn when you do. Hear him explain it by listening to this episode of Inspired Insider. It’s amazing to Peter Awad that the business ideas that he and his wife have come up with out of their own heads have actually become as successful as they have. It’s befuddling and amazing all at the same time. Peter is humbled to realize it and the knowledge of how fortunate he and his wife have been motivates him to press forward to be a good steward of the rest of his life as well. When Jeremy questions Peter Awad about why he named his podcast “The Slow Hustle” he had plenty to say. Peter sees the relentless, slow progress that people make every day as the key to their success in life or business. It’s the intentional small steps of progress that add up to create a huge difference in the world. Peter explains it on this episode. Intentionality is a big thing for Peter Awad. His mindset precludes any concept that things have “just happened” in a particular way. For example, he believes that people who say that they have “drifted apart” from their spouse are actually saying, “I chose to neglect my marriage” and they are getting what they focused on. It’s a very clear and hard-to-hear perspective that Peter unpacks on this episode - but it could help you tremendously if you take it seriously.
