“No Woman No Cry” di Bob Marley: la teniamo o la cancelliamo? In questa puntata breve del podcast musicale italiano Infedeli alla Linea analizziamo il brano, il suo impatto culturale e il motivo per cui divide ancora oggi. Dieci minuti, una decisione.
A rare audio interview with Dame Katy (transcript below) in which she bares ALLWe're backstage at DKD's one womxn show, in the Barnsley British Region for injured and infirm trans womxn veteransJulie – it's you! They said there was a lady wanting to see me.(Shouts to security) I say Doreen - this ain't no lady - its Julie! Tell her carer we'll be 5 minutes max!Dame Katy, I am beside myself with excitement, here I am in the venue, with a few of my lezzer friends, Talking about how brilliant it is the hour 1970s fashion choices now appear to be briefly trendy again, and I realise it's you on the bill! I was told it was a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute. You were lucky to get past Doreen, Julie. I've just taken her on. She used to work for Chappell Roan but sadly she was a bit too heavy handed. I blame the parents, Doreen wasn't to know that kiddie had brittle bone disease - a head lock never did me no harm!I'd offer you a drink Julie but it looks like you've had enough! It's so good to see you & always in that trusty cardi. What I've always said about you Julie is that you don't give in to trends. Everyone's jabbing away with the Ozempic and here's you looking like you've spent a fortnight on an all inclusive in Benidorm. You're not in the family way are you? I told you to steer clear of Pisshead Pat!So I'm guessing you're wanting another exclusive? Book sales flagging? I was sorry to hear about your last effort. The vicar said it was a book he couldn't wait to put down! Oh by the way I saw your ex husband the other week, that James Dreyfus, he was outside Bargain Booze scratching around the bins trying to bum a fag. He said he'd do owt for £20 so I've got him coming to do the gutters next week.Julie:Thank you Dame Katy, can I just say how fabulous you look and what an amazing show! ‘Puppetry of the Shenis'. Who knew your meat and two veg could be so ambidextrous!DKD:Its attracting rave reviews Julie! There was a queue around the block on press night. You couldn't move for celebrities - I was literally beating off a well known boy band desperate to see a glimpse of my opening. It all started one night when I was watching Channel 4 and this lady, (sporting one of Cher's old wigs and a cheap blouse), was playing the keyboard with her micro penis - the crowd were lapping it up! Well I thought to myself, I've got a least 5 inches on her and if that's what passes for entertainment these days then sign me up!Fast forward a few months and here we are! It's a 2 part show Julie, first half I do impressions with my shenis - Donald Trump, Noel Edmonds, Bob Marley - my ‘No Woman No Cry' leaves folk speechless. Then second half I do expressionist dance to the Greatest Hits of Eurovision - I saw your little eyes light up when I whipped off my skirt during ‘Making Your Mind Up' and you got to see my ‘Ding A Dong'. There's a lot of talk of me transferring to Broadway - mind you, its' me whose doing all the talking!Julie:What about politics Dame Katy. You were strongly rumoured to be standing in the next election.DKD:Standing? Is that a cheap dig? Anyway, it's just a rumour Julie. Granted, I am one of the most impotent voices in queer politics right now but I saw how them Brighton gays treated poor Eddie Izzard. Apparently they saw her as just a joke candidate with a pink beret and a pair of plastic tits. Can you imagine if I won? Working in the House of Parliament? I could end up having a heated three way with Nigel Farage & Zack Polanski (Again!). I haven't got the time anyway Julie, I'm helping out an old friend whose fallen on bad times. You remember that ex P.A turned struggling author pal of mine?Julie:JK Rowling?DKD:She who must not be named! Yes, well she's only been telling folk her little wizarding hustle is being turned into a TV series. You've got to laugh! It'll be like ‘Eldorado' all over again. She's a complete fantasist! But I said I'd help her out with the scripts so I've added a new character into the mix to get the green haired they/them brigade back on side. It's a new Hogwarts Teacher who takes the Gender Queer Studies classes. She's trans, she's a doctor, a Pride of Britain award winner and an ex model. As the series progresses, she takes centre stage with her magical powers - she can literally turn men into women just by saying it! Can you believe that? I know it's a bit far fetched - it makes Stranger Things look like a documentary, but I reckon it will be a big hit with the LGBTQOMDU2+ community who enjoy living in a world of make believe. Some say TV has got too woke and we shouldn't keep on forcing this queer manifesto down people's throats, but I'm not complaining!Julie:I don't know where you find the time Dame Katy. Million selling books, charity endeavours, script writing, cabaret shows... is there no start to your talents?DKDI surprise myself Julie! And you won't believe this - the Royal Mail's been in touch wanting to commemorate me on a stamp! My head literally being licked by thousands! Then there's I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here - but do I really want to be dropped into overgrown Australian bush? I bet you wouldn't say no Julie! I'll give it some thought; the money's good but its them challenges that put me off - dark confined spaces, putting dodgy stuff in my mouth - I'm getting flashbacks to the toilets in Heaven 1997! Plus I wouldn't want to risk them putting Boy George back on the show; his luxury item would be a radiator and I'd spend the next 3 week handcuffed to it like some trans Terry Waite!JulieDid you hear the news about your arch nemesis, Lynsay Watson?DKDHear the news? I nearly laughed my bollocks off seeing her being bundled into the back of that Police van, Julie. Absolute state of it. I thought they were nicking Meatloaf at first! Worzel Gummidge's hair was in better nick than that! I've seen some photo filters do some heavy lifting but that's just taking the piss - proof positive that the camera does lie and you can polish a turd! To think she used to be a copper; I bet her helmet was always filthy! But I don't hold a grudge Julie. Someone with skin that looks like the surface of Mars should be pitied really. Plus I'm not a vengeful woman (god strike down anyone one says I am), I've even bought a special chair for her, just needs a few hundred volts putting through it.**knock at the door**I don't get a minute to myself. If that's Fat Tony wanting to borrow 20 grand again they'll be hell to pay. I've got to be up early as they've invited me back on Woman's Hour to discuss the sticky subject of female sperm - apparently folk are resistant to talk about it as it always leaves a nasty taste in the mouth.Watch how you go Julie, there's a man in a beat up old Fiat 500 in the car park, I reckon he sleeps in it. Looks like the lovechild of Jimmy Saville with bad hair plugs, ranting and foaming at the mouth. Tells anyone that listens that he used to read the news on TV - I said ‘yeah, and I shagged Trevor McDonald!'.....Doreen if you could see Julie out, AFTER she's put my purse back! Actually this First Wed has nothing to do with women making men cry or Bob Marley at all. The real title doesn't sound as fun but is maybe more meaningful: No Pruning No Love. Scripture says "The Lord disciplines the one He loves" ergo no elements of correction, praise, standard keeping, growth expectation and you won't experience love. Jesus curses a fig tree that only wanted to LOOK fruitful. God's family is a high challenge, high impact, high fruit family we all need to commit to! Thanks for checking out this message today! Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 17ú lá de mí Iúil, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1981 cuireadh cúpla sheirbhísí bhus ar ceall I gcúpla áit de bharr go raibh easaontas ag dul ar aghaidh I CIE. I 1987 tháinig an nuacht amach go mbeadh 1,400 oifig an phoist chun seirbhísí bainc a cur ar fáil. I 2001 tháinig sé amach go raibh an club galf san Aonach Urmhumhan an ceann is fearr sa tír de bharr gur oscail siad chúrsa nua a raibh 18 poll. Thóg sé 20 bhliain chun forbairt a dhéanamh ag Beechwood. D'oscail an chlub I 1929 ag Lord Dunally agus tá sé ag dul ó neart go neart thar cúpla bhliain. I 2009 tháinig an nuacht amach gur dhiúltaigh an chomhairle chun eastát tithíochta a thógáil I mBóthar Leathan cóngarach chuig Caiseal. Ar dtús bhí cead acu 82 tí nua a thógáil ach rinne daoine achainí de bharr go raibh sé ró-mhór agus bhí siad chun cur isteach ar fhorbairt eile. Sin The Specials le Ghost Town – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 1981. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1975 chan Bob Marley agus The Wailers a chéad oíche sa Lyceum I Londain agus rinne siad thaifead ar don albam beo agus bhí an t-amhrán No Woman No Cry air. I 1995 d'fhág Robbie Williams Take That. Nuair a bhí sé sa bhanna ceoil fuair siad 6 uimhir a haon agus dhá albam a shroich uimhir a haon. Chuaigh Robbie Williams ar aghaidh agus fuair sé seacht n-uimhir a haon sa Bhreatain agus shroich sé uimhir a haon le gach albam seachas ceann amháin. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh aisteoir David Hasselhoff I Meiriceá I 1952 agus rugadh amhránaí Tom Fletcher sa Bhreatain ar an lá seo I 1985 agus seo chuid de amhrán. Beidh mé ar ais libh amárach le heagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo. Welcome back to another edition of Ar An Lá Seo on the 17th of July, with me Lauren Ní Loingsigh 1981: bus services in provinces were cancelled in CIE dispute. 1987: 1,400 post offices were to offer banking services. 2001 - Nenagh Golf Club boasts one of the finest inland courses in the country, with a new, recently opened 18-hole course capping over 20 years of ongoing development at Beechwood. The club was established in 1929 by Lord Dunally and over the years has gone from strength to strength. 2009 - PERMISSION was denied for a major housing development in Boherlahan near Cashel following appeals to An Bord Pleanála. Firestone Developments were granted planning permission to build 82 houses in Boherlahan, but the appeals centred around the scale, suitability of the development to local infrastructure, and existing developments. That was The Specials with Ghost Town – the biggest song on this day in 1981. Onto music news on this day In 1975 Bob Marley and the Wailers played the first of two nights at The Lyceum, London, and both nights were recorded for the November released 'live' album, featuring the single 'No Woman No Cry.' 1995 Robbie Williams left British Boy Band Take That. The group had scored six UK No.1 singles and two No.1 albums with Robbie in the group. As a solo artist Williams went on to score seven UK No. 1 singles, and all but one of his 14 studio albums reached No. 1 in the UK. And finally celebrity birthdays on this day – actor David Hasselhoff was born in America in 1952 and singer Tom Fletcher was born in the UK on this day in 1985 and this is one of his songs. I'll be back with you tomorrow with another edition of Ar An Lá Seo.

On chante. Y a cette nana juste devant, les larmes aux yeux et ce gars torse nu qui bat le rythme comme s'il était en transe. C'est que Bob, il chante pas seulement pour les oreilles, il chante pour les tripes. Et puis arrive No Woman No Cry.

Get ready for a theatrical feast in our latest podcast! First up, at the Orange Tree Theatre, the talented Niamh Cusackleads a thrilling revival of Polly Stenham's remarkable 2007 debut, That Face. When Mia is expelled from boarding school, her mother Martha seems indifferent, more interested in her son Henry. And with Mia's estranged husband, Hugh, returning from Hong Kong with his new girlfriend, he's determined to fix things. But Martha insists everything is just fine. Polly Stenham's searing debut play peels back the curtain on the hidden lives of the wealthy, delivering anarchic humour that won accolades like the Evening Standard Charles Wintour Award, the TMA Best New Play Award, and the Critics' Circle Award. Don't miss its first major London revival! Next, we venture to the Globe Theatre for a spirited rendition of Shakespeare's As You Like It. In Duke Frederick's court, division and distrust reign supreme. When Rosalind is banished, she escapes with her cousin Celia to the Forest of Arden, free from the court's rigid rules. Here, they explore new identities and discover a place where love and connection know no bounds. In this ancient haven of nature, unexpected friendships bloom, enemies reconcile, and strangers fall head over heels. Join us in our wooden 'O' for an unforgettable journey where you never know what—or who—you might encounter. Director Ellen McDougall's delightful production infuses warmth into the summer's end. At the Hampstead Theatre, prepare for a mind-bending journey in Anthropology. Merril, a leading software engineer in Silicon Valley, faces a life-shattering ordeal when her sister Angie vanishes. A year later, Merril takes Angie's digital traces and constructs a digital simulation of her sister. This 'virtual Angie' initially provides solace, but it soon starts revealing unsettling details about the real Angie's disappearance. Playwright Lauren Gunderson, celebrated for works like "I and You," crafts a gripping narrative in this San Francisco-based tale. Directed by Anna Ledwich, who has an impressive Hampstead Theatre portfolio, Anthropology stars the talented MyAnna Buring alongside Dakota Blue Richards, Yolanda Kettle, and Abigail Thaw. Last but not least, immerse yourself in the mesmerising world of Bob Marley's music with Legend. This unforgettable stage show extravaganza brings to life the timeless hits of the reggae legend. From Could You Be Loved to No Woman No Cry and One Love, you'll experience Marley's iconic sound like never before. With impeccable vocals, flawless musicianship, and a supremely talented cast, this two-hour spectacle captures the essence of an icon gone too soon. Don't miss this celebration of the magic and culture of Bob Marley!

This week, in Trail Creek, Indiana, an unhappy woman uses her teenage sons as her her personal murder squad, forcing them to kill both their father, and grandmother. They almost get away with it, too, considering they almost did a perfect job of disposing of grandma, using everything from a chainsaw, to a deep fat fryer to try get rid of the body. Where they finally end up getting rid of the remaining parts is certainly one for the record books! A truly insane case!!Along the way, we find out that hanging out in the "blistering cold" doesn't sound very festive, that you can talk a teenager into any horrible plan you might have, and going AWOL from the Navy to try to help dispose of your grandmother's dismembered corpse is not a great decision!!Hosted by James Pietragallo and Jimmie WhismanNew episodes every Thursday!Donate at: patreon.com/crimeinsports or go to paypal.com and use our email: crimeinsports@gmail.comGo to shutupandgivememurder.com for all things Small Town Murder & Crime In Sports!Follow us on...twitter.com/@murdersmallfacebook.com/smalltownpodinstagram.com/smalltownmurderAlso, check out James & Jimmie's other show, Crime In Sports! “I am my own muse, I am the subject I know best. The subject I want to know better.”— Frida Kahlo Youthfulness. What a beautiful blessing. Here we are met today by such openness to life, and all that her future has to offer, Palmoa Tamayo, graces us with her purity of spirit and sublime optimism. From her early years, being introduced to the Ashtanga yoga practice, to studying in Mysore, and then being called upon as Eddie Stern's assistant, Paloma has crossed a chasm to touch into the depth of her yoga practice. It's no small feat to be born in Mexico to a middle class family, forsaking the obvious path, to step outside one's designated station to make new roads into a future yet defined. It is here in the land of the unknown that we meet Paloma, in all her brilliance, to talk about where she has been and where she might go as she steps into an undermined future. How wonderful it is to feel like the world is your oyster and that all good thing lay in wait. Today, you'll be reminded of the joyfulness of youth and the purity of the practice. What beauty. What innocence. What joyfulness there is to behold on the other side of cynicism and age. Well, I'll be…welcome back to THEGREYAREA PODCAST y'all. What can I say, it's a sad day but a happy day all at the same time, as the gang sit down for BlvkM0nd4y's last in-person episode (for now) before he leaves us to go rule the world from London. But what we're not gonna do is get all mushy because men don't feel. So let's just get right down to it…BlvkM0nd4y and ACEXXI are joined in-studio by Chris Jackson & Junior Bevel as ACEXXI almost gets his Jamaican Card™ revoked tryna figure out which version of Bob Marley's “No Woman No Cry” is valid enough to set the vibe (0:06). Once they sort that out, the squad gets right to it sending an R.I.P. to Kevin Samuels (9:38) and discussing whether his rhetoric was disparaging or just unpleasant truth (12:29).After that it's time for another round of “Victory or Not Victory” (25:57) where we debate whether a Chicago Church's fast from whiteness (27:14) and Elon Musk's acquisition of Twitter (29:56) are truly triumphs or truly trash. The gang then get sidetracked into some problematic conspiracy theories about mass shootings (35:06) as well as some quick commentary on the Johnny Depp v. Amber Heard trial (39:45).Where else to go from there other than “The Toxic Corner,” (45:48) where the gang talk about some questionable BLM purchases (47:06) before getting sidetracked by one of the most heaven-sent inventions on this planet, The Jerk Chicken Nugget™ (if one person steals that and puts it on their menu, so help me god I will have Camille Vasquez tear you a new asshole in a court of law. I mean it. Oh yeah, and timestamp: 50:51). After coming to grips with how good this chicken is we debate whether or not Amazon is wild'n for not letting employees use the word ‘restroom' on a planned interwarehouse communication platform (I think that's what you would call it, but I'm high so I'm pretty sure I just made that up. Oh yeah i forgot again… 51:35) and whether it makes more sense to turn a plane around if your pilot isn't approved to fly (57:30).This week's episode features features music by:BlvkM0nd4y & Phury“Perdidio (feat. YawnyBlew & Chris Jackson)” BLVKPHURY: The LOFI TAPES vol. 1(21:23)Now streaming everywhereI'm not crying, you're crying. Hey look this is by no means goodbye. The pod's not going anywhere and neither is BlvkM0nd4y…that's what technology is for. We're still gonna give you semi-regular episodes on a regular basis with a slightly tweaked format.
