Our guest today is Lou Platt https://www.artistwellbeing.co.uk/   Lou is Founder & Director of the Artist Wellbeing Company in Birmingham, England. She began supporting the mental health of those working in creative industries in 2012. Her qualifications and experience in Dramatherapy, Clinical supervision, and Internal Family Systems along with a background as an independent theatre maker & performer synthesized to create her role as Artist Wellbeing Practitioner. As an Artist Wellbeing Practitioner, Lou has worked with notable theatre companies such as the Globe, Royal Court, Bristol Old Vic, and Nottingham Playhouse to name a few. In TV and film her client list includes Amazon Prime, BBC, HBO and Netflix among others.  Lou also works in dance, visual arts, writing and the music industries. Our discussion began with Lou's journey as Dramatherapist into the creative industry working with theatre practitioners and expanding to actors, writers, directors, crew and actually anyone involved in production. Lou talked about the challenges of being an Artist Wellbeing Practitioner – which is different from being a therapist - though it's still personal in nature with its power to reflect and to potentially transform. We talked about the opportunities for change within the industry and the decisions, we as artists, need to make for a healthier working environment when facing into an industry that needs to accept its dysfunction before it can change.

They are like a society in complete harmony with itself. Not like people at all, but maybe what people have the potential to be”  Nuri is a beekeeper, his wife, Afra, an artist. They live a simple life, rich in family and friends, in the beautiful Syrian city of Aleppo – until the unthinkable happens. When all they care for is destroyed by war, they are forced to escape. A recent graduate from LAMDA, Ned Costello has been making quite the impact on the theatre scene. Since his debut understudying Nero in the Lyric Hammersmith's production of Britannicus last year, Ned has gained a reputation for playing being one of few young actors truly able to capture the essence of a theatrical villain. He's currently preparing to open the Park Theatre's highly anticipated revival of Philip Ridley's Leaves of Glass where he will play the central character of Steven. After a period of playing to large houses like the Lyric Hammersmith and Nottingham Playhouse, this will also mark a return for Ned performing in an intimate studio space with the play arriving at Park Theatre's PARK90 auditorium. In their first major interview, Ned Costello opens up about the past year - stepping onto the Lyric Hammersmith stage last minute to play the legendary Roman Emperor Nero and then playing opposite Olivier Award winners Adrian Scarborough and Sophie Thompson in The Clothes They Stoop Up In. His debut has excited audiences and his peers as anticipation grows around Leaves of Glass. Throughout our interview, he shares his unwavering enthusiasm for the industry that he's joined. After finishing a Politics and International Relations degree at University of Bristol, his transition to acting was perhaps not unexpected after spending some time with NYMT - he even shares he was mentored by West End leading lady Alex Young! When we ask him if he'd be interested in returning to musicals, he immediately sprites up - expressing his love for Standing at the Sky's Edge and Cabaret which have opened to huge acclaim. Nevertheless, Ned Costello remains one of the most exciting new actors to emerge onto the stage and we look forward to Leaves of Glass and anything he does next.Leaves of Glass plays at Park Theatre on 11 May - 3 June and tickets are available now.

Two-time Olivier Award winning actor Adrian Scarborough has written The Clothes They Stood Up In, an adaptation of the novella of the same name by Alan Bennett (The Madness of King George, Talking Heads, The History Boys, and The Lady in the Van), about a mild-mannered couple (played by Adrian and Sophie Thompson) who return home from the opera one evening to find their flat completely bare and every single item they own stolen. What happens next is the action of this very funny play, which opens this week at the Nottingham Playhouse, and Adrian talks about about how his adaptation came to be, and how many versions he's had to learn; the challenges of wearing both his actor and playwright hats; his successful preview at The Berko Speakeasy; finding (and imitating) Bennett's voice; the value of getting microphones in the toilet; the privilege of getting to sit on the other side of the table; and the enormous satisfaction of challenging one's self to come up with the goods. As well as for the Season 23 (Trial of a Time Lord) arrangement of the Doctor Who theme tune. His music has also featured in episodes of The Simpsons, Red Dwarf and Eerie Indiana, and the feature films Holy Man and Kevin & Perry Go Large. Many thanks to Dominic for agreeing to come along. Derrick Sherwin Derrick Sherwin is the last surviving producer of 60s Doctor Who and one of only two surviving producers from the classic series as a whole. Derrick joined Doctor Who as script editor in which capacity he worked on five consecutive stories between The Web of Fear and The Mind Robber. He then wrote The Invasion, acted as de facto assistant producer on two further stories before resuming script editor duties on The Space Pirates, then succeeding Peter Bryant as producer for The War Games and Spearhead From Space. Derrick's influence on Doctor Who has been profound and persists until today – he cast Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, invented UNIT and developed the Brigadier, invented the Time Lords and came up with the idea of exiling the Doctor to Earth. Peter Davison Peter Davison is best known for his roles as the fifth incarnation of the Doctor in Doctor Who and Tristan Farnon in James Herriot's All Creatures Great and Small. Davison was born Peter Moffett in Streatham, London. The family then moved to Knaphill in Surrey at which time he became a member of an amateur theatre company called the Byfleet Players Davison studied at the Central School of Speech and Drama. His first job was as an actor and assistant stage manager at the Nottingham Playhouse. He chose the stage name Peter Davison to avoid confusion with the actor and director Peter Moffatt, with whom Davison later worked. His first television work was in a 1975 episode of the children's science fiction television programme The Tomorrow People In 1978, Davison's performance as the youthfully mischievous Tristan Farnon in All Creatures Great and Small made him a household name. Davison has said that he was mainly cast in the role because he looked as if he could be Robert Hardy's younger brother. Davison subsequently appeared alongside Dickinson as the Dish of the Day in the television version of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (1981), whose producers considered it humorous for an actor known for playing a veterinary surgeon to appear as a cow. In 1981, Davison signed a contract to play the Doctor for three years, succeeding Tom Baker (the Fourth Doctor) and, at age 29, was at the time the youngest actor to have played the lead role.
