Hello Rank Squad! It's time for this week's first Champions League Takeaway - looking back at Tuesday's Quarter Final second legs, where both PSG and Barcelona emerged with qualification intact, but with their reputations bruised and having been handed on-the-night losses by Aston Villa and Borussia Dortmund, who were both excellent. In the absence of Dean, who is flying back to San Diego, Jack is joined by football podcast royalty in Mike Zimmermann - to talk through both of the games and discuss the ramifications in more detail. We start with Aston Villa's impressive 3-2 win over PSG, where the Parisien favourites were given an almighty scare in the second half by Unai Emery's charges, who managed to break free of PSG's impressive counter-attacking hold after the break, going hell for leather and finding themselves some Gigi Donnarumma magic away from taking Luis Enrique's men to extra time. Then in Part Two, we head to the Westfalenstadion, where Dortmund had very little to lose, but managed to expose the Barcelona high line enough to give the Yellow Wall plenty to shout about. Serhou Guirassy's hat-trick had Barça very worried for a time, and although the Catalans progressed, they were subjected to defeat in a single game for the first time in 2025. It's Ranks! And remember, if you'd like more from the Rank Squad, including extra podcasts every Monday and Friday (including our weekly Postbox taking a look at the whole weekend of football) and access to our brilliant Discord community, then why not join us here on Patreon?

This week, Laura, Krysta and Dean are joined by the Amazing Kate from the long running Ignorance Was Bliss Podcast as they wade into the waters of the Salem Witch Trials. With over two hours of story, they broke the show into two parts. It begins with Krysta getting familiar with a Witch's Familiar as she drops some weird facts on Black Cats! Plus she has a question about what website would you build? Then they dig into the pressures of the Salem Village/Salem Town area that made them ripe for the hysteria of the Witch Trials, they discuss the girls 'affected' by the supposed witchcraft and the theory of ergot poisoning. Then they discuss Tituba's confession and how that lead to the hysteria which led to more innocent men and women being charged with witchcraft. They also briefly discuss the first to be hanged,Bridget Bishop and how her accusation might have been a case of mistaken identity...all this and more on this week's episode of the Family Plot Podcast!

In this week's episode, I talk with Pariss Chandler. Pariss has had a couple of careers but then last summer she found how all her previous experiences naturally came together as the country found itself again discussing racial inequality. After a career in acting, writing, video production, make-up and waxing she was trying to figure out what was next. She looked to the corporate world, first in marketing and then in tech. But as she worked at some amazing organizations, she realized she often did not see people that looked like her and she felt the impact of unconscious bias, microagressions and the sense of not belonging on a non-diverse team. So she started to ask “what does black in tech look like” and that opened the waterfall of conversation that led her to start her own recruiting agency for black tech talent. She doesn't just help place amazing tech talent, but she works with organizations to make sure “inclusion” is part of their strategy (not just diversity) and that the new hires are set up for success.More about Pariss Chandler...Pariss Chandler is a former aesthetician turned front-end developer. She transitioned into tech in 2017 after participating in Resilient Coders, a coding bootcamp for people of color. Pariss is the founder & CEO of Black Tech Pipeline, a platform bringing exposure, resources, and opportunities to Black Technologists. She is also the creator of the movement and community #BlackTechTwitter, a global movement that brought exposure to the existing Black community in tech. “What ‘pipeline problem'?”How to connect with Pariss...Website - https://blacktechpipeline.comLinkedin - https://www.linkedin.com/in/pariss-chandler/In this episode you'll specifically learn...The importance of trying something new and figuring it out from there (but you have to try first!)How to talk to companies, as a candidate, about their diversity and inclusion strategies and how they support their team members in their careersHow to take a hobby, a mission you care about, anything from your personal life and turn it into a careerI'm Karen Weeks, the Founder & Principal Coach at KDW Coaching, the host of the Shine at Work podcast, a speaker, published author, Girls in Tech NYC board member and award winning culture leader (currently leading the People team at Ordergroove). I absolutely love social media. It's a place to socialize, meet new people, find inspiration, learn something new...it's also a lot of f*cking work. As someone who uses social media for work and business purposes, it can be really exhausting to keep up. Creating content may look simple and easy from the outside but, it takes a lot of effort. I just wanted to share some personal thoughts around how you can use social media to benefit you in a way that doesn't feel like a second full time job. Mentioned In This Episode: NEW BLOG POST! Everyone talks about starting a business...break generational curses, build something for your future, create your own schedule. These are all valid points but also, entrepreneurship is hard. It's heavy. It can be exhausting especially when you lack the assistance and or resources that you may want or need. The financial, mental, and emotional impact it can have on your life is very...very real. I wanted to share a bit about my journey into entrepreneurship and extend grace to myself and others like me...it's okay to acknowledge the pain points and respond accordingly. It's okay to take a look at what you have going on and decide to stop, start over, or maybe even keep going. Just remember...the choice is yours! Have you been diagnosing yourself with ADHD? Do you watch ADHD Tik Tok and think "...ummm."? Are you already losing interest in this description? Of course not, because I'm doing a great job of keeping your attention :) This episode is all about ADHD, if you haven't noticed. I have been self-diagnosing in joking matter since high school. Last month, I was able to get a diagnosis; I am 30 years old. I wanted to share some experiences and symptoms that led me to believe I had ADHD and how I went about getting diagnosed! If you're an ADHD brained person, I'm sure you can relate to much what I discuss. And if you don't fall into either of those categories, take a listen to learn more or maybe even something new! I realized I forgot to mention a few things, and have also learned some new things since recording so, I'll share all of that in a part 2! Mentioned In This Episode: First month of medication + care counseling for $25 @ Cerebral! That's it. That's the 'tweet'. Do not believe everything you think. Our brains lie, our thoughts lie, we get triggered...if you're anything like me, you can create an entire scenario in your based on something that is not true! I encourage you explore your mind and decide what you believe to be your reality. Our greatest wishes and dreams, I think, should be spoken out loud. There's power in words and intention. For this episode, I encourage you to grab your journaling tools because we're putting it all into the universe! I share some of my big desires so I challenge you to dream big! Think outside of what's 'realistic', what do YOU WANT? No matter how big, small, or silly as you might think it is...say it out loud. The universe is always listening and you never know what you'll get back. I also advocate for sweepstakes and giveaways. Hope you enjoy! :) Mentioned in this episode: Pariss' Website Self Care 101 want to support me or the podcast? buy me ice cream? feel free! venmo: $Pariss-Garner cash-app: $ParissGarner zelle: pariss.garner@gmail.com --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/itsnottherapy/support

Life requires us to take control when we can, and flow through the rest. Oftentimes, we find ourselves making plans that get twisted and turned around because...well...life happens. On this episode, I compare our life path to children. don't worry, it will all make sense by the end of the episode. Krystal Johnson, the Good Vibes Goddess, talks with Julia Brodska, the author of the international best-selling book, Best Life-ing about boundaries. During college, Krystal played recreational sports like soccer and basketball to help her maintain a healthy weight. After the birth of her daughter, Pariss, she struggled with balancing parenthood with living a fit lifestyle and finding a new career path. She tried everything from CrossFit to dance lessons to lose the lingering weight she gained in pregnancy and build her confidence. It wasn't until Krystal resolved to follow her dream to get a law degree, while regularly exercising outdoors, that her life turned around. Julia's inspiration came from her own experience of being broke, overweight and extremely unfulfilled with life. Her mentors and other authors helped her create lasting change in her life. This ignited a burning desire to help others do the same. Julia believes that we are here to find what we love, master it and help others do the same; there is simply nothing more exciting than helping others win and feel passionate about life.
Pariss Garner uses her humor to creatively document her life journey on her blog Notes from my Phone, which chronicles her personal stories, advice, and how to's. She is also an Editorial Contributor to Boss Magazine. In this episode of DIMPRP Podcast, Pariss discusses being intentional with her actions, her love for social media, which is the catalyst for how she got her start, taking a hiatus during the pandemic, and her writing circle. You don't have to be passionate about code to have a successful career as a developer. Pariss Athena talks about how it isn't the code itself that motivates her to get better at understanding it. It's what being good at code provides that drives her.The financial freedom code gives Athena enables her to give more to the people and communities that are important to her. Success to her is freedom and helping others find success too. She is working on the Black Tech Pipeline, a platform to bring resources and exposure to the black tech community. What can those of us who are already established in this industry do to help underrepresented people? Athena says speak up, reach out to the community with opportunities for jobs, speaking engagements, podcasts, etc. Diversity doesn't just happen by default. Systemically we don't have a society that enables that. We have to be active and be a part of the team to make it happen.Transcript"Gaining Freedom and Helping Others Find Success - with Pariss Athena" TranscriptResources#BlackTechPipelinePariss AthenaTwitterJoel HooksTwitterWebsite
