Hello friends! We have an international double-header today. First up, I talk to Mitch Galbraith, guitar player for Australian, psychedelic, yacht rock band, Ocean Alley. Their latest album, Low Altitude Living has been blowing up and they've been out promoting it all over the world including two tours of the U.S. in 2022. Go to oceanalley.com.au for music, videos, tour dates and more. Mitch and I have a great conversation about how their music is influenced by their home in the North Beaches of New South Wales, playing all over Europe and America, surfing, their songwriting process and more. After that, I talk to Slovakian, avant-garde/jazz guitar player, David Kollar who was in town making an album with legendary drummer, Pat Mastelotto (King Crimson). His incredibly unique style comes from a combo of influences including eastern european classical, jazz, ambient music techno and more. The globally celebrated guitar player has scored 18 films, won a ton of awards and he's constantly collaborating with other amazing artists. Go to davidkollar.com for music, videos, tour dates and more. David and I have a great conversation about his journey in music, pushing the guitar into new areas musically and sonically, his use of electronics and technology, his many collaborations and projects including Komara with Pat Mastelotto and much more! I had a great time getting o know both of these great artists. I'm sure you will too. Let's get down! If you feel so inclined. Venmo: venmo.com/John-Goudie-1  Paypal: paypal.me/johnnygoudie

A long chat on the Kscope sofa with COLIN EDWIN, who you may know best as the bassist of PORCUPINE TREE as there's a new O.R.k. album out entitled SCREAMNASIUM out now. The band features award-winning vocalist/composer LEF, KING CRIMSON's PAT MASTELOTTO and the unique guitar of CARMELO PIPITONE as well as Col's bottom end.   We hear what happened re: Colin's exclusion from PORCUPINE TREE and how he feels about it, why the new O.R.k. set turned out how it did, what happens to Pat at border control, and our genial host BILLY REEVES hears “Einstürzende Neubauten” spoken out loud for the first time ever. O.R.k are a brilliantly pieced together rock outfit featuring former Porcupine Tree member Colin Edwin (bass), celebrated Italian vocalist, producer, and award-winning film score composer Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari a.k.a LEF (lead vocals), King Crimson's Pat Mastelotto (drums) and Marta Sui Tubi's Carmelo Pipitone (guitars).By entering a fresh and tantalising sonic plane through clever use of experimentation in their music, O.R.k recently released their fourth studio album Screamnasium, an epicly grandioise slab of rock that captures the band at the peak of their career.Edwin sat down with HEAVY recently to talk about the album."We were really happy with Ramagehead, which was our previous album," he began. "I felt it was going to be really tough to better that. You don't wanna do something that isn't as strong as what you've done before, so it felt a bit... We wanted to do another record but are we gonna be able to bring it all down and make it happen and make it as solid as the previous one? I think we achieved that. It's sonically better. It's more direct, it's got more emotion in it. It's an album that I would say is our best one, and I also think it's the album we've been trying to make since we first started, if that makes sense. It's like, everybody's at their peak creatively."In the full interview, Colin talks more about Screamnasium, what they were going for musically with the album, the artwork and what it represents, having Grammy award winning vocalist Elisa on one of the songs, the use of cellist Jo Quail and what she brought to the structure, how O.R.k have changed musically over their four album career and more.

Vinnie Moore is a guitar master. He's carved out a great career for himself as a solo artist, a guest musician, and as a guitarist in the legendary hard rock band UFO since 2003. Vinnie recently joined a group of well-known musicians who took part in a great tribute record called Animals Reimagined - A Tribute to Pink Floyd. Playing on the album's best track, "Dogs," Vinnie was joined by ex-Rainbow vocalist Graham Bonnet, ex-King Crimson drummer Pat Mastelotto, Kasim Sulton from Utopia, and Dream Theater keyboard wizard Jordan Rudess. I spoke with Vinnie about his involvement in the project, his background in music, playing on Alice Cooper's Hey Stoopid record and the ensuing tour, performing with the legendary Peter Frampton, joining UFO, his solo career, and more. Find out more about Vinnie and his music at vinniemoore.com. (He has a new solo album coming soon!) He, Who Am the Only One” (1970).

--- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/radioflowok/message

Stir Crazy With Steve Jenkins: Conversations With Creatives During The Quarantine

This week I’m talking to the magnificent Julie Slick. Julie is an amazing bass player who I first heard with Adrian Belew’s Power Trio. It was thrilling to hear her play through all the various music Adrian has been a part of whether it’s his newer compositions or classic King Crimson or Frank Zappa stuff. She also has a cool project—or a band (side question: what’s the difference between a band or a project?) called EchoTest and that features 2 bass players. She’s also played with the Crimson ProjeckT which is a cool King Crimson-adjacent band featuring Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto. The last time I saw Julie was in early 2019 when we both were playing on the Yes “Cruise To the Edge” cruise. We had a great conversation and it was excellent to catch up.
