Paul Oneid (@pauloneid) is the Founder and Head Coach at Master Athletic Performance. He is a Coach, Educator, Mentor and Athlete with a single goal - to raise the bar for online coaching. He holds Master of Science Degrees in both Exercise Science and Sports Management and is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Exercise Physiologist and Certified Olympic Weightlifting Coach with 18 years' experience as a Strength and Conditioning Coach in varying capacities from youth to collegiate and professional athletics.Several months ago, Paul unfortunately tore both of his quads while competing and falling during a squat. Goes without saying, but that is a pretty terrible injury. Paul took to his rehab aggressively and like a professional. Full effort, using all available tools and tactics and getting in touch with the best people possible. We spoke about all the things Paul has done to heal from his injuries incredibly quickly and incredibly well. He also speaks about the general journey and all of the other not so glamorous things that come with a traumatic injury, and why this is all such a good reminder to care about your body and your health deeply. All of the things that Paul has done are applicable in a wide range of circumstances but also differently applicable based on your and your situation. Regardless, there is certainly something you can pick up that will help you, or someone you know. To keep up with Paul and everything he's got going on, follow him on IG, listen to The Coaches Corner University Podcast, check out the Master Athletic Performance Website, and the Coaches Corner U Website, where you can use code PODCAST300 for $300 off lifetime access to the education collective. Sarah welcomes Paul Oneid to The Beyond Condition Podcast to delve into how we monitor progression, the psychology behind obsession and many of the factors that drive bodybuilders to relentlessly pursue success. Obsession is unique to the individual and it can be used both wisely and mindlessly. As competitive bodybuilders we strive to progress but what does that actually look like when competing in a subjective sport...We all have our reasons to compete and our own intrinsic drivers that push us to continually progress but it's the ability to stay clear in our endeavour that can become dampened. From comparison to others, social media pressure and not having clear vectors of progress we can end up lost without recognition to how far we have come on our journey.Discussions include:*Authenticity as a coach*Social media and intellectual consistency*Coaching and individualised programming*Lifestyle bodybuilding and competitive bodybuilding*Allostatic load and stress management*Progression as a bodybuilder*Marketing yourself as a coach*Communication and clarity*Burnout*Managing time and efficiency*Professional bodybuilding*The different phases as a bodybuilder*Identity*Stress management*Purpose and being present*Anxiety and therapy*Comparison to others*Sleep routine, quality and considerations*SupplementationFind Paul on Instagram @pauloneidWatch it here: https://youtu.be/NDao_6xYU14Get in touch and share this episode @sarahparker_bb

In our FIRST full-on multi-channel episode of FIRE CHAT SESSIONS - We are honored by an amazing human being - MR PAUL ONEID! An educator, a business owner, an amazing athlete, and just an amazingly self-aware human being with a lot of humility and love for the game. This guy has been in the game and seen the ins & outs of not only the athletes but also the coaches. with two master's degrees & many accolades to his name, the one thing that stood out to me the most is his SELF-AWARENESS and ability to review what MAKES SENSE and what DOESN'T work at all. I hope this episode shines a light on some amazing knowledge to you from PAUL as much as it did to me for both an ATHLETE and a COACH. ENJOY and as always... ENDURE! This week Paul Oneid hopped on the podcast to discuss how to view training setbacks, injury, and long-term performance. We all have bad training days, it's how you deal with them that matters. @paul_resilient@ryan_resilient@pauloneidwww.resilienttraininglab.com
Our good friend Paul Oneid dropped by to share his experiences with some his experience in using some unconventional client nutritional strategies. Paul works with powerlifters ranging from those getting their feet wet to elite level lifters at the highest levels. As an elite lifter himself, he has experience lifting in a range of weight classes at world class levels. He walks the walk and talks the talk. Recently, mimicking his own journey from Incredible Bulk to To Bruce Boner, he has started to utilize the principles of flux to help drive max muscle and minimal fat in his powerlifting clientele. The results are undeniable. People eating into their competitions and not starving to make weight. Gaining useful mass and not just fat for weight's sake. Being actual athletes with increased movement quality and increased health. We really enjoyed this episode and there are some great bits in here for trainees and coaches alike. Hey guys, thanks for tuning in. In this episode I sit in with Stu Locke and Paul ONeid as they discuss their coaching methods and the modalities they adopt to get the most out of their athletes. All too often we are given somewhat strict guidelines on how we “should” program and the unique traits and personalities amongst coaches gets lost in the specifics or macrocycles, mesocycles, deloads and rehab exercises. Paul and Stu do a great job of deciphering what it is their clients needs whilst giving a little bit more insight into their methods other than “it depends”. The problem with most health tracking apps is that they tend to influence people to rely more on external data than their own thinking. Today’s guests are Paul Oneid and Jay Nera, the founders of MetriLife, a mobile app that teaches you how your daily behaviors affect your life and provide you with actionable feedback to improve your mental and physical health and performance. They join us on the show to talk about their app, but also the idea that all health goals are contingent on mindset, behaviors, and our ability to understand and be honest with ourselves. We begin by hearing how our two guests met before diving into a fascinating conversation about what mental health is all about and how to approach it. Jay and Paul talk about journaling, the need for reflection along with introspection, and the freedom of being in the present. We also discuss how to get past faddy understandings of conscious living and what we can learn about growth from a place of self-love rather than insecurity and obsession. We touch on defining what being good means for ourselves and how to start the process of breaking bad habits that are self-serving. From there, we take a deeper dive into MetriLife and how it differs from other tracking apps by holding an up a mirror based on feedback you give it, thereafter providing tools to form associations between where you are and want to be. Journaling practices and the use of them for achieving better mental health. The fad of living consciously and the deep introspection this habit really involves. Leveling up without becoming neurotic by learning from Sisyphus and powerlifting. Learning that freedom and growth are about being present in the moment, even if it’s difficult. The challenge of approaching growth from a place of loving, not hating yourself. Moving past stoicism to define your version of good using broader philosophy. Our tendency react to problems by depressing and never taking action. Getting past self-serving negative habits by being aware of the need they serve. How MetriLife works by holding up a mirror and helping users reflect on their feelings. The problem with many fitness tracking apps’ data gathering methodology. It involves a lot more things than, ‘Oh, living consciously means not operating on a subconscious level.” — @jay_nera [0:15:12] “If I’m working and I’m busy, I don’t have to think about my problems, but the reality is that those problems and that friction within your life is where all of your personal growth is going to be. You need to take time to reflect.” — @pauloneid [0:26:10] “Our tagline for MetriLife is that it’s an intelligent approach to living healthier, living happier, and living stronger, and the reason why it is an intelligent approach is because you’re the one in the driver’s seat.” — @pauloneid [0:52:36] “This is a reality check and look in the mirror to see where are you today, and then it’s a helping hand to guide you along a journey that you’re creating for yourself.” — @pauloneid [0:53:47] “Through technology, we’re inundated with so many external connections that we lose this connection with the inside. The Fitbros are joined by Paul Oneid and Jay Nera to discuss lifestyle factors and lifting. Both Paul and Jay are Elite Total Powerlifters who found that the biggest deficits in their clients lives had nothing to do with programming or exercise selection but rather it was all the stuff they were (and weren't) doing outside the gym. They developed the Metrilife App in order to help athletes increase performance through tracking "intangibles".
