Ep 515 - Electronic Recycling Done Right Mohammad Doostmohammadi    By Stuart McNish   “There are six elements that play a key role in optimizing fuel and chemical production,” says Mohammad Doostmohammdi of pH7. “Without them, green hydrogen, low-carbon steel, biofuels and other climate technologies are not possible.” Those six elements are platinum, palladium, rhodium, ruthenium, iridium, and osmium – and they are among the rarest on earth.   While challenging to identify ore bodies with mineable resources, there is an emerging opportunity in recovery. “There are 17.4 million troy ounces of these elements that have already been mined and are available to be recovered from catalytic converters, mobile phones, computer disks and aircraft turbines.”   Until now, the process of recovering these elements was uneconomical. Doostmohammdi says, “These challenges notwithstanding, several factors have combined to spotlight their growing importance.”   We invited Mohammad Doostmohammdi to join us for a Conversation That Matters about the process his team has developed that reduces costs and increases productivity in the realm of critical mineral recovery.   You can see the interview here https://www.conversationsthatmatter.ca/   Learn More about our guests career at careersthatmatter.ca

Spotting Plant Deficiencies in Plant Doctor

PLANT DEFICIENCIES: Imagine this scenario, you've fertilised your garden with all the right stuff, having followed the manufacturer's instructions to a ‘t.' But still the plants look sickly, or perhaps a bit yellow, or they're just not putting on any growth. Does that sound familiar? So what's the problem? The first thing you need to do is a pH test on your soil-there's no escaping it. Why? The soil pH will determine the availability pf different nutrients to your plants.   Let's look at an example Looking at the chart on the right, it's immediately apparent that if your pH is higher than say pH7.5, then nutrients like iron start to taper off in their availability to the plant.   Then means your plant may start to show symptoms of iron deficiency. In fact, after pH 7.5, other nutrients taper off in their availability, such as manganese, boron, and more importantly, one of the macro nutrients being potassium.     Basic pH test kit   Ideally the ideal pH range that gardeners should strive for is pH 6 - 7.5 This is the range that the major nutrients of NPK are available to the plant the most. Some plants such as rhododenrons and azaleas like a like a low of pH6. A pH testing kit is essential in any gardener's shed. Consider testing your soil in different parts of the garden. A good tip when taking soil samples from your soil is to get a sample from just below the surface for an accurate reading.   First signs of Nutrient Deficiencies:  Nitrogen: new leaves are pale green and older leaves are yellow and start to dry up. Phosphorus: purpling of the leaves, particularly along the lower leaves. New leaves are a bit stunted and deformed in severe cases.  A bit more rare. Potassium: poor overall health; older leaves turn yellow then crisp up and die off. Often mistaken for dehydration.   Let's find out more about  pH testing and plant deficiencies  I'm talking with Kylie Last, horticulturist and TAFE teacher. Oxygenated Water with Anna Iversen Anna Iversen joins The Next 100 Days to talk about oxygenated water. She works for a company called Kure which produces the water. Today she's going to tell us about benefits. The water is so good that Anna even uses it to make her tea and coffee. When going to a restaurant, Anna will have one in her bag. Kure were kind enough to send Graham and Kevin some water to try. Lets see what they think of it. What Makes Oxygenated Water Different? Kure comes from the most pristine source in Cornwall. Not only is it exceptionally high-quality spring water, Kure has also supercharged it with oxygen. At Kure, they've developed a technology in which they can encapsulate oxygen into tiny bubbles. http://thenext100days.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/what-is-kuremp4.mp4   The magic really lies inside of the bubbles. She tells us that it has taken over 7 years for them to refine the technology. The bubbles have to be sufficiently small so that they can remain intact. Anna believes that's the issue many other companies have not been able to resolve. Basically, if the bubble is too big, it will burst, which would make it a load of marketing hype and nothing else.               What Are The Benefits of Oxygen Water Anna says the reason we need oxygen water and why we perform better if we have it is because of the modern way in which we live. People are constantly compromised, bombarded with stress from their daily life, eating junk food, not sleeping enough. The way in which we produce energy for us to function properly is that inside our cells we have tiny organelles called mitochondria. The mitochondria are like little factories that produce energy for our cells in order for our body to work the way it ought to. It's a natural process, so as you age, your body produces less energy, which is why we ache, have pains, feel tired, and our skin wrinkles. http://thenext100days.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Benefits.mp4 Anna also thinks that because we're modern people, we come to accept that all these aches and pains are just a part of ordinary life. This shouldn't have to be the case. She thinks people accept these aches and pains very early on in life and we just learn to live with it when life doesn't have to be that way. As Kevin stares at the label on the bottle, he can see that Kure water won't disappoint. He says it's: Non carbonated, natural spring water, balanced Ph7, No chemicals, no additives, 0 calories and fat, 0 cholesterol and sodium. Kevin said it strikes him that the only thing in the bottle is water and oxygen.   Anna's Journey Anna's always been into her health and well being. Throughout the majority of her career she didn't have as much time to focus on it as she wanted too. Around 5-6 years ago, both of her parents died with cancer and it came as such a shock. So quickly and at the same time. She had spent a year going backwards and forwards to Sweden to look after them both. When her mum was lying in her death bed, Anna had strangely downloaded a book on her Kindle about cancer being a metabolic disorder. The book blew her mind. Especially at such a pivotal moment in her life. She knew she had to change her career. If she had only just grasped this now, she needed to let the rest of the world know. Once you start looking at health from Anna's perspective you start to realise how important it actually is. If we don't have enough energy, our bodies don't produce enough energy, that means that things start breaking. So if we can improve the cellular energy production, we can stop things from breaking and heal things that are broken.   http://thenext100days.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/Anna.mp4 My Thoughts I was lucky enough to receive a crate of Kure water to try over the past month. Having consumed one every day, I must say I do see a result. 1.My skin gets spots from time to time.

The description of that segment is below: The recommendations put forward by the two co-chairs of President Obama’s deficit reduction commission are so “over the top,” says consumer advocate Ralph Nader, “if there’s anything that ought to get the liberal left going, it’s this monstrosity, which Obama has to take some responsibility for.” The former presidential candidate says the assault on social programs “shows the hand of the corporate Democrats and their Republican allies in a very distinct way.” What’s not in the co-chairs’ proposal is as glaring as what’s included. “They didn’t say we should have a speculation tax on derivatives and other transactions of Wall Street,” for example, “which economists have estimated could raise $400 billion a year.” Black Is Back Rally in Washington, DC Eugenia Charles reports on the cholera epidemic in Haiti, where international aid “is not being used to support the Haitian people”; People’s Organization for Progress director Larry Hamm calls for renewed grassroots organizing to “build a movement stronger than the one we had in the Sixties”; and Black is Back chairman Omali Yeshitela says Barack Obama represents “white power in a Black face.” There are some brand new Black Agenda Report, Free Press "Media Minutes" & Direct EFX mini-segments on this week's syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast episode. This is the latest episode of the syndicated FuseBox Radio Broadcast with DJ Fusion & Jon Judah for the week of November 10, 2010 with some new and classic Hip-Hop & Soul Music, news and commentary. This week's show commentary focused on Hip-Hop heads self-snitching on themselves via the internet (especially Twitter), former U.S. President George W. Bush saying one of the worst parts of his presidency was Kanye West calling him (in his eyes) a racist because of Hurricane Katrina, the "mystery" missile launch off the California coast the military supposedly knows nothing about and some other things here and there. We had a great extended FuseBox Radio/BlackRadioIsBack.com interview we had this week with Houston, Texas' own MC, businessman and more, Trae The Truth (http://www.myspace.com/TraeThaTruth). Some of the things we talked about with Trae Tha Truth included his background & history in the Texas area, his various family & musical influences, some of the most recent rather bugged out occurrences he's had in the music industry (including with the Radio One station down there), his good works within the community including the mayor endorsed "Trae Day", the "Can't Ban The Truth" mixtape that's now out in stores, future projects and a lot of other cool things! There are new Black Agenda Report, Free Press "Media Minutes" & Direct EFX segments on this week's show.
