With the 3DS and the Wii U online services completely shutting down in April of 2024, we know that Pokémon Bank will still work for a "period of time" after that, but we don't know how much longer. We recap Decidueye Raids and our thoughts on the established formula so far. The Nintendo eShop is closing on the 3DS and the Wii U, meaning hundreds of games will be unaccessible going forward. This makes Pokémon fans worried about both Bank and HOME capability with older games, since Pokémon hasn't said much since their initial statements. We are back from hiatus! We had some significant life events happening in our lives that put the podcast on hold; however, we are ecstatic to discuss everything geek and video game-related! Let's dive into the news! Geek News Shows We Watched During Hiatus During our break, we were able to catch up on some outstanding shows. John was able to watch the Harley Quinn animated series, and it was a fun animation. Richard finished watching the Mandalorian and the Witcher. Both are fantastic shows that are worth your viewership. Video Game News Pokemon Has Become Pricey With Pokemon: Sword and Shield officially on a mainline console, Pokemon fans are now paying more than ever. The base games individually are $60, so those dedicated to having both will pay $120. The DLC will then cost $30 per game. This means that a person who has both games will then pay $60 to have the DLC for both games. After that, Pokemon Home is the replacement for Pokemon Bank. Pokemon Home will cost $16 annually. All of this combined means that dedicated Pokemon fans will pay $196. Is Game Freak pushing their monetization to far, or are you on board with these prices? Nintendo Has the Worst Return Policy We here are at AM: Game Zone has seen questionable return policies in the gaming industry; however, for now, Nintendo has taken the cake for the worst return policy. You can not return a game to Nintendo. Period. No exceptions. This even includes pre-order games. The game isn't yet released, but Nintendo refuses to refund the game. This is an anticonsumer and lousy policy. For all the things Nintendo does well, this is one of the worst things this company does. Showstopper Warcraft 3: Reforged Blunder Blizzard has been one of the worst companies in the video game industry of late. They continue to disappoint with the release of Warcraft 3: Reforged. Blizzard underdelivered in every category and continues to erode their credibility. Thank You For Listening! Well, this episode title aged well didn't it? Join Cesar and Richard as they try to simul-record the show and watch the Super Bowl. In News, February's Xbox Games with Gold and PlayStation Plus have been announced, Wonderful 101 may be seeking funding via Kickstarter, the Pokemon Bank invests in Home(s) for PokeStorage, Sony hints at more devices for Remote Play, and E3 outlines plans to reseal trust within the industry. Nintendo shatters sales records, Animal Crossing New Horizons limits said horizons, and Xbox announces a worthy program to followup hit PSP game Daxter. In Games Played, Richard recaps a Halo LAN party he hosted with Cesar, Michael, Russell and numerous friends of the show. Cesar has advanced in Dragonball Z: Kakarot, and put a couple hours in surprise hit Journey to the Savage Planet on PS4. Tonight on GeekNights, we review Time of Crisis: The Roman Empire in Turmoil, 235-284 AD (2017). It's a deckbuilder wargame that basically functions as a highly abstracted rondel. We like it. In the news, Blizzard is getting better at classic CTF, Rocket League drops 0.3% of its active playerbase, Pokemon Bank will be free for a month while you get your Pokes into Pokemon Home, Half-Life 2.75 (Alyx) is coming to VR, and Activision Blizzard esports will move to a Youtube exclusive escalating the content wars of game streaming platforms. Also we will be live at PAX East 2020!

It's been a long cold winter... and it's been hard on the ol' Fink. He hopes you enjoy this long overdue episode feature and the company of his buddies Joe (Ninsage) and Grant (GameDadGrant). There are just a ton of games to talk about this episode. Project X Zone, the Pokemon Bank, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Mario Golf: World Tour, Mario Kart 8, Yoshi's New Island, and Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy for starters... and that's me only listing every other one! Between what we've been playing and what was in February 2014's Nintendo Direct, there's just a ton to discuss... so much so that we don't even have a break for a song. Of course still we have to give a big thanks to Zero for the theme music.
There was a feature here. It's gone now. Please understand.Into every life a little podcast must fall - for certain definitions of little. Nintendo Free Radio is back with a brisk jaunt through the world of games, starting in New Business with Donald's first non-douche early impressions of Tales of Xillia. After that, come along to the Pokemon Bank and marvel at the service's eerie similarities to (insert crap bank of choice here) before skating away at extreme speeds in OlliOlli. Austen keeps the handheld train rolling with Everyday Shooter, then transitions into Vita puzzler Surge Deluxe and cross-platform psychoanalysis program Doki Doki Universe, before taking aim at villianry in episode 2 of Telltale's Wolf Among Us. Stephen, not to be outdone, takes another crack at Walking Dead and finds the rarest specimen of all: A platform where Walking Dead exists WITHOUT game-breaking bugs.We always think Whatcha' Watchin is going to be short, then the recording happens. Donald has brief impressions on perennial NFR favourite Steins;Gate, Austen follows up on Clannad with the postscript Clannad:Love Story and finds out that Justice League: War is good for absolutely nothing before finding something decent to watch in Kokoro Connect. Speaking of decency, Stephen continues to make the tragic mistake of leaving his selections up to the horndog Netflix algorithim, as his contribution is the "life" laden Sekirei. We swear, this time around the Feature Discussion was going to blow your mind, make you change your pants and lead to Mother 3 on Virtual Console. Unfortunately, Iwata chose to cash in the Please Understand contract right after recording, so the crew gathered immediately following the February 13 Nintendo Direct for a round of off-the-cuff impressions. Find out how much Donald spent that day (a lot), if Stephen's on the X bandwagon (maybe?) and if Nintendo going free-to-play is sinking to new depths. Finally, the Mushrooms have a farewell to podcasts, a call to action, and a tribute to... high speed network cable. Yeah, it's been that kind of week.Next time 'round we're going to be emptying out the listener mailbag, so be sure to get your questions in to nintendofreeradio@gmail.com - or leave them below. Until next time, consider this... can love bloom on a baseball diamond? This podcast was edited by Donald Theriault. All music is used under fair use protection. Mrgrgr.
