Joining me today to help me talk about a childhood favorite of mine is... my brother Mike as well as Doug Lief from the Nostalgium Arcanum podcast! I'm an experienced gamer. A very experienced gamer. But, I'm not about to give it up because some kid who has just destroyed me on Apex Legends is laughing down the mic and calling me a fossil. No siree! Not that anyone is suggesting I give it up. I don't think. Not sure why I recorded this, thinking about it.But it's here now, so wrap your ears around it and give it a big waxy hug!Brief mentions of the console wars, Daley Thompson, Space Invaders, and other stuff that has been tossed along on the winds of time. Emulation is a polarizing subject in video games. While I personally feel its not a bad thing there are people who only associate with piracy. So I figured who better to talk about this topic than the founder of one of the earliest emulation websites, Zophar. Zophar founded Zophar's domain back in 1996 as a way to aggregate emulation information and it grew into something much more than that.

Importing video games has been a cornerstone of the gaming experience for decades. But in that time, it has changed and evolved. TomFum of Game Older Podcast joins Dan and James to discuss their favourite memories of important and how it has changed over the years.
A huge part of video game history is context. Context surrounding a game's development, context surrounding a game's release, context of the time and place the game was made during. Context informs how we interpret the past. This week on the show I am joined by author and journalist Ross Benes to talk about his book "1999: The Year Low Culutre Conquered America and Kickstarted Our Bizarre Times." We discuss what about the late 90's has informed so much of our present, how that culture affected the games that came out and how the games themselves were part of that percieved "low culture" at the time. There is so much more in his book worth diving into but I felt like this was a good introduction for ya'll to see what Ross has written.

We delve the depths of Tallon IV on this episode of Still Loading. I'm joined by returning guest to the podcast Chris (aka the British Bond Addict) to talk Metroid Prime. Metroid Prime is a game that has eluded me for a while. I first played it over a decade ago but never got around to beating it even though I made it over 90% through the game. That has been finally corrected and I couldn't be happier I got to experience it.... with a few complaints here and there. Good evening and welcome to The MiNEStry. I am Archbishop Dracul and alongside me is Father Avram. Our creed is to inspire our parishioners with reflections on the Nintendo Entertainment System. Tonight we are reflecting on Destination Earthstar, a first person space fighting simulation as well as a side scrolling arcade shoot em up. It was developed by Imagineering and published by Acclaim in North America in 1990. Our returning Deacon this evening is Christopher Hopper.Send us a textThe miNEStry founders, Archbishop Dracul and Father Avram, seek to inspire their 8-bit parishioners through methodical and ceremonial scrutiny of the library of games on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

The late 1800s to early 1900s, known as magic's Golden Age, featured stars like Harry Houdini, who popularized escape acts and debunked fake spiritualists. As we grew up, we got to see all kinds of spectacular magic that was so hyped we couldn't resist trying it ourselves. I love Nintendo. I still do. This company makes some of my favorite systems and games and has also given me some of my favorite memories. But even with my love of Nintendo its hard to overlook their negatives, even if those negatives are not Nintendo's fault. Episode Notes: Welcome back to Arcade Cozy! This week, we're back again with a solid little Nintendo Direct. It was a good ol' Partner Showcase so no big first-party announcements, but a few neat little nuggets came out of it, so we talk about that. Then -- what we've been playing which, on both ends, has been some retro gaming. And on the Gameboy Advance no less! Chris has been playing some Mega Man Battle Network, Corey's been playing Golden Sun. It's a good episode, so cozy up -- we hope you enjoy it!Games discussed include Death Stranding 2, Mega Man Battle Network, Golden Sun, The Adventures of Elliott, Octopath Traveler 0, Monster Hunter Stories 3, Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted, Chillin' by the Fire, and more!Do you have thoughts on what we talked about today? Are there things that we missed? Or do you have a few games you'd like us to check out? After two years of playing through Sega's 16-bit library, I'm closing the book with my personal top 10 picks. Genesis, Sega CD, 32X. The games I loved, the ones that surprised me, and the weird ones I probably like too much. It's a laid-back sendoff to an era that meant more than I expected. This week we set sail for adventure here on the Still Loading Podcast. Joining me is new friend to the show Supertendo to talk about the originally maligned but now beloved Zelda game, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker. Despite being more beloved now, Wind Waker had a very polarizing launch back in 2002 when it came out. This was not the Zelda most fans were looking for at the time, myself included. But a gutsy choice from Nintendo back then has proven it's staying power. Wind Waker is significantly more popular now than it was back when it released and I would like to feel like that is largely because it's intended audience grew up a bit and played the game on it's own merits and not based on their expectation. Supertendo and I discuss all of this on the episode along with how we feel the gameplay holds up, is sailing fun? Which is better the OG or the remake? Is the Triforce quest THAT bad?
