Pew Research Center Teams Social Media and Technology 2023: almost half of US teens are using social media. These statistics on social media usage by teens are relevant to the interests of businesses, especially those catering to a younger demographic.

The advisory revealed a correlation between intensive usage and heightened mental health issues, with troubling data from Meta indicating specific dangers for teenage girls. In response, a call to action has been made to tech companies, policymakers, and parents to foster safer online environments. Amidst these developments, Montana's ban of TikTok raises questions. Is this a prelude to federal regulation? AND... As the debt ceiling deadline nears, skepticism grows among Republican representatives, led by figures like Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and Rep. Ralph Norman (R-S.C.), who suspect that the June 1st deadline set by Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen may be a pressure tactic to force a debt limit increase. These concerns aren't confined to the right-wing faction of the party, with House Financial Services Committee Chairman, Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), also expressing doubt about the urgency of the deadline and the White House's negotiation efforts. McHenry has called for a more detailed justification for the June 1st deadline, raising questions about its legitimacy.

Utah has become the first US state to require social media firms get parental consent for children to use their apps and verify users are at least 18. The governor says he signed the two sweeping measures to protect young people in the state. The bills will give parents full access to their children's online accounts, including posts and private messages. The move comes amidst heightened concern over the impact of social media on children's mental health. The YOLO app is the latest anonymous app to go viral with teens. The survey showcases how social media has evolved from 2012 to 2018. Some challenges, like the ALS ice bucket challenge or the mannequin challenge, can be fun and positive activities. This is when you spray or pour a flammable liquid on your body and light yourself on fire.The Hot Water Challenge You either pour hot water on yourself or another person, or you drink it through a straw. The Condom Snorting Challenge People snort condoms through their noses and pull it out through their mouths. There is a possibility that you could potentially get the condom stuck in your windpipe or lungs.The Salt and Ice Challenge When participants pour ice on a part of their body and then place ice on the salt. This creates an extreme burning sensation. Participants see how long they can withstand the burn. It can lead frostbite and third degree injuries.The Eraser ChallengeWhere you erase your skin while saying the alphabet and coming up with a word for each letter. Once you get to Z you stop and compare your skin with your friends.
