We often see our kids with these devices in front of their faces all the time. We are worried that they might lose interest in a lot of other important things because of this. Parents, it is now more vital than ever to get our kids back into the natural world to expand their minds, and let them learn how to connect and communicate with others. This is one of the many reasons why camps are so important to be there for our kids. With powerful principles, Kathy Farley has taught many young adult leaders about the true essence of leadership. Kathy's 650 trained leaders have served more than 350,000 young adults. In this episode, she talks about her book Krushing It!, and how camps help grow and nurture the next generation of leaders. Don't miss her inspiring story on how she ended up being the owner of the huge summer camp in Southern California as a single mom. “It (camps) promotes self esteem, they learn a sense of community, they learn a sense of commitment and connection which is so lacking these days. Their connectivity with one another, as well as their confidence just booms. The things that they were afraid of when they stepped off the bus on Monday are no longer a fear by Friday.” - Kathy FarleyAbout our Guest:Kathy Graves Farley was born into nature in Honolulu, HI and this exposure to the power of the water set the tone for the life that has followed. From an early age Kathy also had a profound interest in proving she could do anything she set her mind to do, and quickly learned that doing things right was the only way to do them. In her near 30-year tenure as owner of the Ranch, Kathy trained, motivated, managed and supported more than 650 young adult leaders that would impact the lives of a staggering 350,000+ grade school kids; it is simply an astounding number of lives shaped by her philosophies of team, caring, success and leadership involvement. Now, having sold the Arrowhead Ranch Science School, Kathy is transferring her experience, tools and lessons on accepting the roles of leadership, enjoying the journey and positively impacting both a team and its goals. It is her call to arms for young adults everywhere.Kathy has published her lessons learned in a motivational book for young adults that takes the “scary” out of leadership and empowers young people for great accomplishments and self-actualization, setting them a confident path, for life. Her knowledge learned through tens of thousands of hours developing young leaders is captured in the pages of Kathy's book “Krushing It!” 7 Keys to Successful First Time Leadership. She shares her high energy, positive and humorous speaking engagements on college and high school campuses. She also continues to do personal coaching for young leaders 18-25 years old, as well as holding workshops for first-time leaders 14 to 25 years in age. Kathy encourages you to reach out to her for a warm conversation about the importance of putting the right things in place for first-time leaders and her process for assuring their success that has been proven time and again. Bullying is very rampant in our society. Unfortunately, it has been part of schools for many years. Getting our kids bullied is something that we are really worried about. We all know its danger - it can tear our kids apart. How about the bullies? Have you been called in school because your kid was engaged in bullying? Is there something we can do to make them stop?Suzanne Jean is on the mission of stopping bullying by creating healthy, confident kids that have no need to control other people to meet their needs. In this episode, she will shed us some light on why bullying exists, and how we can stop it by not just taking care of the bullied, but by taking care of the bullies as well. Suzanne also talks about her unique anti-bullying program called PowerEd, where she teaches self-defense to a bully. Sounds odd to you? Listen and understand why Suzanne created this unique and amazing program.“I can't stress this enough that to deal with bullying, you have to acknowledge it as being there. It's amazing how conflict-averse people are, they don't want to deal with it. You've got to acknowledge it, and it takes having everybody involved to be part of the solution.” - Suzanne JeanAbout the Guest:As Director of Fit4Defense Ltd, Suzanne conceived and now operates PowerED, a holistic life program that inspires confidence in participants to be heard, safe in the community and free from abuse through assertive communication and self-defense. The life-changing transformations she witnessed while teaching PowerED inspired her to write her powerful book, “Bullying Stops Here,” in which she shares the true stories of persons who converted fear into confidence, self-reliance, and positive action through the skills acquired in the program. With over fifty years of experience in the design, implementation, and accreditation of community-based programs in the social service field, Suzanne currently acts as Quality Assurance Director at Hollyburn Community Services Society. She co-founded the Kettle Society and Watari Research Association serving as Executive Director for each organization for over ten years. There's a lot of things going on with the lives of our teenagers - physically, emotionally, socially and psychologically. This is a crucial time to have a conversation with them, and know what's going on with their lives. How can we best support our teens right now? How can we start a conversation that would make them feel heard, understood and valued? The best way to be able to do that is to have courageous conversations with them. What does it mean? "Teen Genie", Elizabeth Bennett, will walk us through some ways on how we can connect and understand our teens as much as we can, so we can help them build self-confidence and create resiliency. NOW is the best time to start courageous conversations with your kids, and be their safe haven in this difficult time. “That's the space that kids really appreciate, if they feel like they're being valued, if they feel like they're being listened to, and they're worth something. In the trauma that they're facing right now, it's mind blowing… So that's where the conversations are going to be important - to find out what's going on with them, and asking not necessarily always questions, but engaging in extensions of conversation.” - Elizabeth BennettAbout our Guest:Elizabeth Bennett helps parents navigate the world of teenager ~ some have even called her the "teen Genie". Death is one of the big taboo things people never like to talk about, on the contrary, it is something that we SHOULD be talking about! We're not here forever. Just like how we should be prepared for the birth of our child, we should also be prepared for our death in the same way. We wouldn't like to leave our families in agony, leaving them grieving, and at the same time leaving them clueless about how they should handle all of those countless things we left. Susan Brown is on the journey of helping families have peace of mind. She created the Peace of Mind Blueprint to help you prepare everything you need to enrich yours and your family's lives with peace of mind. Also, she created Peace Of Mind Ultimate Bundle to help you get all of your stuff organized in one place. Listen to Susan as she talks about the practical ways to help you reduce or even prevent unnecessary compounded suffering (UCS). “Nobody likes to talk about it, but we're not here forever. For me that doesn't put me into a rabbit hole of worry, but a rabbit hole of gratitude…If it's true gratitude, it propels us to movement, to do something bigger than ourselves, and initiate leaving that legacy that lives beyond generations. This piece of blueprint is the first step to that. You get to actually be here with your loved ones, even when you're not here.” - Susan BrownAbout the Guest:Susan Brown, the encourager and simple solutions guru and founder of Susan Brown Coaching, is on a mission to help people just like you reduce the overwhelm and rediscover joy by simplifying their lives.Speaking to audiences large and small, she draws from her own inspirational journey including being bullied, homelessness, 4 miscarriages, and becoming a caregiver to her paralyzed mom.She talks about the hard stuff that most people shy away from, all while connecting in a unique way with compassion and a bit of humor sprinkled in for good measure, coupled with practical strategies. She has been featured in radio, podcasts, as well as online and video and print publications.Susan is an author (highly acclaimed One Year Of Thankful Thursdays and the life changing Peace Of Mind System), content creator, entrepreneur, inspirational speaker, and mindset coach. Every parent grew up in a different family culture. We have different opinions and values on how we will raise our kids. Our parenting style may differ from our spouse. So, how can parents with different values and styles learn to work together in raising their kids? Relationship expert, Figs O'Sullivan talks about how our family relationships growing up, impact how we parent or set our triggers. He also dives into how parents can use empathy to connect with their kids. We should not let our differences confuse and stress out our kids. We should work together and make our kids feel sure and secure. “I encourage parents to be cultural anthropologists.. Study your own family culture, understand what those values were and see that they're not universally true…One isn't necessarily right or wrong, they just come from different cultures. You're going to get together, and create your own culture.” - Figs O'Sullivan About the Guest:Fiachra “Figs” O'Sullivan is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, well-known relationship expert and commander-in-chief to the top rated therapists in San Francisco. A lot of kids felt like they were being silenced and they're unheard - making them feel unimportant. These are just some of the reasons why parents are struggling about getting their kids to talk to them. We want to feel connected to them. We want to know what's happening to them. So, how can we connect to our kids and get them to talk to us? Our guest, Jackie Bailey founded The Speak Lead Project to help children, youth and adults to Speak with power, Feed others in word and deed, and Lead with positivity. Together with Michelle, Jackie emphasizes the importance of listening to our kids, giving them the time to talk and express themselves. She also gives us some tips on how we can prove to our kids that they're important and we want to hear them. Let's start communicating with our kids in a much better way. “That's really counterproductive when we don't give kids the chance to talk about what really matters to them…They do have important things they want to talk about, and their opinions matter just as much as ours do, probably even more in some cases…They have their own experiences to share, and we need to listen to them.” - Jackie BaileyAbout the Guest:Jackie is the author of SELF-Centered Leadership: Becoming Influential, Intentional, and Exceptional published in 2014, and a 2015 semi-finalist in The World Championship of Public Speaking – placing her in the top 98 speakers of 33,000 competitors.Today, Jackie runs The Speak Feed Lead Public Speaking Studio in Redmond, Washington USA; and is the founder and executive director of The Speak Feed Lead Project, a nonprofit with a mission to empower children, teens, and adults with public speaking skills.Website: https://www.speakfeedlead.org/30 Days free of Positive Priming your Family: https://www.positiveprime.com/jackieb-30-day-challenge/Connect with Blissful Parenting:Free Workshop ► https://www.BlissfulParentingWorkshop.com Website ► http://www.TheBlissfulParent.com/ Blog ► http://www.TheBlissfulParent.com/blog Podcast ► http://www.TheBlissfulParent.com/podcast/ Contact ►http://www.BlissfulParenting.com/contact Follow Us On Social Media:Youtube ► https://www.youtube.com/theblissfulparent Facebook ► https://www.facebook.com/theblissfulparent Instagram ► https://www.instagram.com/theblissfulparent/ Twitter ►https://twitter.com/blissfulparent Thanks for listening! Thanks so much for listening to our podcast! Are you grieving over the death of your child? No parent in this world is prepared for their child's death. They never expect to outlive their children. They're looking forward to those days when their children reach their dreams and goals in life. But you know what? I needed to be there for a week in order to hear God's voice. Because if I was home, I would have run somewhere. There's a sea of mom's podcasts out there, but just a handful for dads. Our dads also need support. They need a place where they can celebrate the exciting and rewarding things about having kids and about being dads. They also need a place where they can vent out their struggles and express their vulnerability.Adam Flaherty and Marc Checket started The Modern Dadhood podcast, to set up a community where dads can have a conversation about their joy, their hardships and those insanities of being a dad in this time. Adam and Marc share with us today those knowledge and perspectives they learned by talking to dads of all walks of life. Together with Michelle, they dive into what it means to be a modern dad. “The fact that you're aware of it and talking about it and mindful of it, it's all going to work out, you're not going to fail as a parent simply because you're aware of this thing. If we can elevate the conversation about fatherhood, to something that people talk about openly and regularly with that vulnerability that we've been describing, it helps in any way to make people better fathers, better parents.” - Adam Flaherty About the Guest:Adam & Marc are the hosts of Modern Dadhood Podcast.Adam Flaherty is a dad of two daughters, a husband of one wife, a director and editor of video content, and a lover of the ocean, adventure, watermelon, and a hazy craft IPA.Marc Checket is a dad of twin boy toddlers with an affinity for 80's movies and an insatiable lust for coffee. Supporting the kids in getting to school is one of the parents' struggles. “How am I going to support my kids, when I am not very good at it myself?” - some parents ask. A tutor should be part of your educational team. Education is a holistic process. The classes tend to build on themselves, as we go through the grade school levels we're learning our fundamentals. Listen to Monica Ramirez and Michelle as they talk about how you can control your ego and have that positive parenting through divorce. Remove the guilt and the shame from the kids, talk to them with love. “I know divorce is hard. The best thing you can do is try to remove your ego. A lot of marriages have fallen apart, leading to separation and divorce. Divorce is always tough. It dramatically affects everyone in the family, especially the children. Co-parenting doesn't end when the divorce ends, it just begins and will continue for decades ahead. How can you tell your kids about the divorce? How can you prepare and protect your children from the painful impact of the divorce?Rosalind Sedacca, known as “The Voice of Child-Centered Divorce” talks about the ways you can protect your children before, during and long after the divorce. Together with Michelle, they dive into how to deliver the news to the kids in a way that's loving and supportive - putting together a positive and less conflictual divorce. They also talk about the challenges of dating after divorce when you're a parent.“It's getting out of your ego and putting the kids first. It makes a huge difference. Your kids will thank you when they're grown adults, or they'll be very resentful and hold you responsible for the pain that you caused them unnecessarily. It's not the divorce per se that messes kids up, it's how parents handle the divorce. So we have a responsibility and the ability to do a better job.” - Rosalind SedaccaAbout the Guest:Rosalind Sedacca, CDC is recognized as The Voice of Child-Centered Divorce. She is a Divorce & Co-Parenting Coach and founder of the Child-Centered Divorce Network which provides advice, programs, coaching and other valuable resources for parents who are facing, moving through or transitioning after a divorce. It is so important to recognize the impact husbands and fathers have on their wives and on their children. There's a lot of pressure on Dads, considering the weight of their responsibilities in the family. Dads deserve a community to support them, while they are doing their best to keep it all together, and be a great role model to their children.Kevin Williams started The Legendary Dads Podcast to build a supporting community for Dads , helping them become a ‘high performance' Dad who's leading his family to a successful and fulfilling life. In this episode, Kevin talks about the importance of leaving a legacy, and how you can be a Legendary Dad in your own home. Moms will also hear some advice from Kevin on how they can support their husbands and together be a Legendary Parents.“In terms of being a Legendary Dad, my ambition is to leave such a legacy that my kids, my great grandkids and their children, will talk about this purpose and this process that I initiated with my family, so that I would be a legend in the family tree…I do want my family to have everything they need to live an amazing life and to deal with whatever is going to come in the future years.” - Kevin Williams About the Guest:Married for 22 years, and Dad to 4 young kids, Kevin is focused on helping Dads be the best they can be for their family. He believes that everything rises and falls on leadership - and it starts on the inside.Behind this passion for working with Dads, is a heart that cries for the children and wives who are missing out, struggling, or worse, because the men in their lives are not sure that they have what it takes. He knows from hard-won experience that all Dads have what it takes to provide fully and deeply what their family needs from them. “When things are looking rough,” he says, “we have to hold on to the truth that all of us are capable of far more than we realize. We can see this truth when we stand firm, and don't let the storms of life chase us away from those are counting on us.”Kevin encourages those who engage with him to take courage, and embrace the challenge of digging deep within to see their true heart; because everything we do - or don't do - in life stems from who we are.Website: https://kevinwillspeak.com/Please link your Social Media Platforms here.:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/KevinwillspeakTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/kevinwillspeakInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/kevinwillspeakConnect with Blissful Parenting:Free Workshop ► https://www.BlissfulParentingWorkshop.com Website ► http://www.TheBlissfulParent.com/ Blog ► http://www.TheBlissfulParent.com/blog Podcast ► http://www.TheBlissfulParent.com/podcast/ Contact ►http://www.BlissfulParenting.com/contact Follow Us On Social Media:Youtube ►...
Every parent wants a deep connection with their children while guiding them through life. But sometimes we felt like we can't get that connection, it seems like kids aren't listening. We try to bottle up everything, then suddenly we explode, we yell, we feel guilty. If we're not yelling, how can we get our kids to listen? This episode is worth listening to. Yelling is one of the most common dilemmas of parents in raising children. What are the consequences of yelling? What are we actually reinforcing when we raise our voice to our kids? Is it possible to raise a child without raising your voice? What is really happening when parents use positive and negative reinforcement? Michelle and our guest, Rachel Duffy will dive into these questions, and will help you break the cycle of the traditional model of parenting. “When we yell when our children are in a meltdown, our nervous system is in what is called a ‘Dysregulated State'.. Our nervous system flipped the switch to say something dangerous is happening right now. And the only behaviors available in that state are fight, flight, freeze fun. So when we explode on our kids, or when our kids explode, that means we are in a fight state. It's a dysregulated state. To get out of it, yelling is not going to get you out of it". - Rachel DuffyAbout the Guest:Rachel helps fix every relationship in your family. She works with parents to help them raise kids without bribing, constantly rewarding or yelling, threatening or ending the day feeling guilty so you can finally build deep connection, harmony and find ease in your family life. She is both a Trauma Informed Coach and a Certified Conscious Parenting Coach, with a JD in Family Law & Mediation. Death and loss is inevitable. As soon as our kids are old enough to love, to have an attachment to something or someone, they will grieve and mourn for those losses. When is the best time to talk about grief and loss to our kids? Well, the best time to prepare for grief is NOT when the tsunami of heartache is hitting hard. Today, we're gonna dive into what our kids need to know about grief and loss. This is something our guest, Shirley Thiessen, a grief coach and educator, wishes herself to know as a young mom. This episode will help to protect your kids from the harshness of loss and pain. Let us also learn how each of us can be a “Hope Hero” in this world full of grief.“Grief is really hard work, it is exhausting. If we don't absorb the loss, if we don't reconcile it, it's gonna bubble up years later in very unhealthy ways. So it's a beautiful thing to be able to teach our children that we're going to face our pain, we're going to look for ways to learn from it, and to get a meaning or purpose from that pain…I think pain can teach us how to look out for others who are hurting, and come alongside them.” - Shirley ThiessenAbout our Guest:Shirley Thiessen is co-founder of a grief ministry, CornerBend Ministries in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Through writing and speaking, Shirley serves others as a grief coach and educator. Most people don't know what is helpful to say or do to support their grieving friends. Is it possible for us to raise healthy kids, but we haven't dealt with our own trauma yet? Does this make us bad? No. We all have wounds, and we're all doing our best to regulate ourselves so we could not impart the trauma to our children. But the more we heal, the more reliable, the more consistent and the more available we become to our children.Joining Michelle today is the founder of PRISMA, Greg Wieting. He has helped thousands of people heal from their trauma for 2 decades. He dives into how we can heal our own anxiety, depression, and chronic pain rooted in trauma, so we can be a better model to our children. Greg also talks about why chemical imbalance doesn't cause anxiety and depression. “I think the essence of healing is not problem solving or fixing, but it's presence. There's nothing broken, bad or wrong. This is something hurt that needs loving intention. The more we develop that capacity to support ourselves with that loving attention, and the wounded parts of ourselves, then the more we can show up to our kids, to our loved ones and to our family.” - Greg WietingAbout our Guest:He is the founder of PRISMA – a framework overlaying trauma, neuroscience, and energy medicine with somatic and mindfulness-based practices. As parents, we want all the best for our children, we want to prepare them for a successful future. So saving and investing even in their very young age is very important. How can we teach our kids about money? What are the benefits of getting started early with financial planning for our kids? How can we do that? Does it make sense to get insurance for our kids?Joining us is Jamie Madigan, a licensed Certified Financial Planner and a legacy insights expert. He's helping people build a solid financial security foundation and let them fully understand how their investments are performing. Today, Jamie talked about the 2 main reasons why we would want to get started early with financial planning. Well, it's time to set our financial goals, and prepare our kids for their brighter future!“The sooner we get started with money, and the more often that we top it up or add more money in, the better. We get the benefit of compounding. Our money earns interest and continues to grow. And the interest that we earn gets reinvested. So the sooner we get started with investing, the better because we're giving the opportunity for money to grow, earn more and work harder for us.” - Jamie MadiganAbout our Guest:Jamie's financial planning services are provided at no cost to his clients because he believes that Canadians shouldn't have to pay to get ahead in life. We have seen a huge percentage of college dropouts. These have caused them anxiety, feeling like they weren't able to live up to their full potential and their zone of genius. How can we help our kids prepare for their success in getting into high school and beyond into college? Listen as Lynn Teatro dives into how we can help our kids figure out their zone of genius and live to their full potential. She identified the keys to college success and how parents can set a good example to their kids when it comes to education and success. Lynn has the mission to help dropouts and other struggling students find their zone of genius, and help them boost their confidence.“30% of students did drop out in their first year. That is a huge loss, it's a loss of money, it's a loss of brilliance, not not only for the students, but for the future of our planet. We need every person to find their zone of genius and work that so they can be fulfilled and that we heal this planet of all the strife that it's going through. We need people who are educated and as knowledgeable as possible.” - Lynn TeatroAbout our Guest:Lynn Teatro was raised to be a farmer's wife and a mother. Rural Ontario, north of Hwy #7 expectation. She was married 2 weeks out of high school. Lynn wasn't able to graduate because she failed physics and was getting married, so it really didn't matter. Or so she believed back then.12 years later she was a single parent of two kids, back in class with the teens and completing her Grade 13 (Yes, she's that old). This time she got to hang out with the cool kids. Her nickname was the Seagrams Special.Lynn applied to Trent University as a high school graduate and completed her 3- year undergrad in Psychology in 2 years. Lynn's academic advisor told her that she couldn't do that. It was against regulations or something.Too late, Professor Earnest, She had already finished the work for her last credit.Lynn had a varied career as a front line social service worker. She worked in shelters for abused women and their children, with seniors, with sex offenders in prison, helping the homeless…She had a two year stint pissing off landlords and pulling miracles out of her ass. Her daughter, Megan's words, not the actual job description. But it's close. Now as a quasi-retiree, she has made it her mission to help dropouts and other struggling students find their zone of genius. She helps them boost their confidence with workshops, 1:1 counselling, and group coaching. She is also building a professional roster of like-minded people to help her help struggling students fly the nest and on to success. It's a mighty task and Lynn has learned to ask for help the hard way. She is proud of her rural roots. Lynn knows for sure that you can take a girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl. And she also knows that sometimes our personal trail takes us where we weren't expected to go. She challenges all of us to enter that huge unknown world of possibility. What if there is a garden in every yard? What if every family grows their own food without pesticides, without herbicides or without chemicals? How could it change your child's health forever?Greg Peterson is the creator of the concept called the Urban Farm. He is a green living and sustainability innovator who is well-versed in urban sustainability and food production in dry lands. Together with Michelle, Greg talks about the importance of growing your own food, and how you can successfully grow a garden and create healthy soil.“Our industrial food system provides us with chemical laden, manufactured food products. And they're not good for our health. By growing your own food, you can control what's going into it, you can grow an organic garden. And so the food is healthier for you. It is picked at its peak of ripeness. So it's most tasty, and at the same time, it's most nutritious for you.” - Greg PetersonAbout our Guest:“What if there was a garden and fruit tree in every yard?” This is a question that Greg ponders every day. For over 32 years he created on of one of Phoenix's first environmental showcase homes for urban farming. The 1/4-acre yard featured a primarily edible landscape with over 80 fruit trees, rainwater and greywater harvesting, solar applications, and extensive use of reclaimed and recycled building materials. In 2003 UrbanFarm.org was created as an online portal for urban farming education then in 2015 Greg created the UrbanFarmPodcast.com that in just 6 years has released over 700 episodes amassing over 3.2 million listens to date. Do you have fears that your child is addicted to drugs, alcohol, or even social media? The fact is, in today's society, there are so many social obstacles for kids to face than many of us had to when we were younger. Please trust yourself and don't give up. As a parent, it's important to be aware of the unique mental health challenges that LGBTQIA+ kids face. Unfortunately, many families don't know how to talk about these issues, or even how to recognize them. When Heather's son came out as gay, she realized that he had been hiding himself from her for years and it had taken a serious toll on his mental health. Now she is an advocate and coach helping parents connect with the resources they need to best support their LGBTQIA+ children. The book Heather refers to in the episode is: Raising LGBTQ Allies: A Parent's Guide to Changing the Messages from the Playground by Chris Tompkins https://www.amazon.com/Raising-LGBTQ-Allies-Changing-Playground-ebook/dp/B08YWHRWRB/ (https://www.amazon.com/Raising-LGBTQ-Allies-Changing-Playground-ebook/dp/B08YWHRWRB/) (NOT an affiliate link) Heather is a podcast host and coach for parents and allies of LGBTQIA+ adolescents and young adults. She believes the coming out process is beautiful. She works with her clients to let go of fear and the feelings of isolation so that they can reconnect with themselves and their child in a meaningful, grounded way. She is a writer, the mother of four (two of whom are LGBTQIA), and a student of life who believes in embracing the messiness, opening to education, strengthening through empowerment, and overcoming anything with love. From her years as a teacher Shaista knows that kids can't learn if they don't feel safe, both physically and emotionally. She noticed what a big difference it made for children to learn "soft skills" like emotional regulation along with academics and from that observation a new career was born. Today Shaista is on the podcast to share tips on supporting children through all kinds of anxiety as well as signs to watch for that your child could benefit from widening their resources and team of caring adults. Shaista is a certified children's life coach and works with clients to build self-esteem, manage anxiety and develop the heart-mind. Shaista is the author of the book BACK HOME; which has received accolades nationwide. Over the past year, Shaista has developed programs such as The Thrive Kids Virtual Early Learning Academy, Thrive Mommy and Thrive Babies. The Thrive Kids Virtual Early Learning Academy was born out of the need for young students to engage in a preschool curriculum from the safety of their own homes. Four days a week, students from the US and Canada join Shaista as she virtually teaches them academic concepts such as early literacy, early numeracy and soft skills such as collaboration, mindfulness and communication. There's no doubt that this is a difficult topic but because it is so hard to talk about many parents have no idea how to help their children cope with grief, especially if they are also dealing with their own grief. A lot of the ways grief was handled in our own childhoods amplified trauma instead of healing it. Not talking about our lost loved one or "moving on" can do more harm than good. Whether your child is mourning the loss of a sibling or a goldfish, there are powerful takeaways in today's episode to help them process grief. Michele Benyo is a Certified Grief Recovery Specialist®, a parent coach, and the founder of Good Grief Parenting. After her 6-year-old son died of cancer, her 3-year-old daughter said, “Mommy, half of me is gone.” This heartbreaking statement focused Michele's career as an early childhood parenting specialist on the impact of grief on young children, particularly after child loss. Michele equips parents and other caring adults to recognize young children's grief and to provide the support children need to cope well with any loss. The desire of Michele's heart is to see families live forward after loss toward a future bright with possibilities and even joy.
