The journey from Yugoslavia to New York City is a wild one, and filmmaker Branislav Jankic has been a keen observer along the way. Coming off a debut feature that was released at the height of COVID, Branislav is now at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival with a story about his wife called WHITE BELT (2026). The film traces the journey of supermodel Monika "Jac" Jagaciak from the runway to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). It's a tight, accomplished film that shows what he's learned about the process, and it was so cool for him to explain how he made such an exciting and personal film.In this episode, Branislav and I discuss:the tight runtime for this film and how he was able to condense so much into the film;how he got involved in filmmaking -- going from Yugoslavia, Germany, all the way to Tribeca;why he's able to tackle topics like " addiction, fetishism, and the complexities of identity";his debut feature, THE WITCH'S CAULDRON (2020), and what he learned from it;what WHITE BELT is about, in his words;why he didn't mention himself in the film and his advice for filming when you're married to the subject;why Tribeca and what's next for him.Links:Follow Monika On Instagram

---agentyczne AI, agentic AI, sztuczna inteligencja, AI w biznesie, Claude Code, Anthropic, OpenAI, Microsoft Copilot, tokeny AI, budżetowanie AI, AI produktywność, Coinbase, zwolnienia, AI menedżer, harness AI, LLM, duże modele językowe, AI praca, przyszłość pracy, AI narzędzia, podcast technologiczny, podcast AI, Two White Belts---#AgentyczneAI #AI #SztucznaInteligencja #TwoWhiteBelts #Podcast #AIwBiznesie #ClaudeCode #anthropic #OpenAI #Tokeny #BudżetowanieAI #PrzyszłośćPracy #LLM #MicrosoftCopilot  #AIProductivity #TechPodcast #Programowanie #AgenticAI #Coinbase #bigtech

In Episode 301 of Off the Mats Podcast, I sit down with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu grappler and owner of Redwood Jiu-Jitsu, Naomi Davoudian, for a conversation about identity, belonging, and the long arc of growth that comes from staying committed to jiu-jitsu. We begin with who Naomi is outside of the gym before revisiting her life prior to training, the uncertainty of walking into her first class, and the emotional reality of being a beginner. Naomi reflects on moments where she questioned whether she belonged, how her relationship with jiu-jitsu evolved over time, and how training shaped her confidence, self-trust, and perspective off the mats. We talk about plateaus, invisible progress, longevity versus intensity, and what success looks like beyond belt promotions. This episode is for grapplers at every level, especially hobbyists and women navigating their place in the sport, who are learning that jiu-jitsu is often less about proving something and more about discovering who you are.

What happens when a classically trained chef who cooked at Michelin-starred restaurants decides the future of cooking isn't fire—it's light? Today's guest is Travis Rea, Head of Culinary at Brava, the company that's reimagining home cooking with an oven that uses infrared light instead of traditional heat. But Travis's path to revolutionizing kitchen technology wasn't straightforward. Born and raised in Houston, he grew up watching his mom cook from scratch and fell in love with the transformation of ingredients at just eight years old. That passion led him to ditch a conventional business career for culinary school in San Francisco, where he spent four grueling years cooking at Restaurant Gary Danko—eventually helping the restaurant earn its Michelin star. But after years of vampire hours and relentless pressure, Travis made a bold pivot back to the business world, spending eight years at Williams-Sonoma developing over 800 food products and collaborating with legendary chefs like Thomas Keller. When he first heard about Brava—a startup claiming they could sear a steak in seven minutes using light bulbs—he thought it was "total nonsense." Now, eight years later, Travis has helped build a product that's been used over 13 million times, with a digital library of 9,000+ recipes. This is a story about knowing when to pivot, surrounding yourself with people smarter than you, and why the best career moves often require you to embrace being a beginner all over again. What You'll Learn in This Episode: How failing a class became the wake-up call that changed everything – Why Travis's freshman year failure was "one of the best things that happened" to him and taught him the importance of living up to his own potential The real cost of following your passion – Why Travis walked away from Michelin-starred kitchens after realizing he loved cooking but couldn't sustain the restaurant lifestyle for 30 years How to know when you're ready for a pivot – The signals Travis noticed (and ignored) that revealed he was reading cookbooks while his peers read marketing journals, and what that meant for his career Why working for the best matters more than the biggest paycheck – Travis's philosophy on taking lower-paying jobs at elite organizations early in your career and how it compounds over time The white belt mentality in action – What it's like to be the only "cook" in a house full of physicists and engineers, and why being the least qualified person in the room might be exactly where you need to be Get your free copy of The Career Pivot Playbook: https://www.omaid.me/newsletter

The Emotional Intelli-Gents Podcast: Navigating Leadership with Emotional intelligence

In this conversation, Ismail and Sameer discuss the concept of the 'white belt mentality'—the idea of approaching life and career with a mindset of continuous learning and humility. They explore how this mentality can lead to personal and professional growth, the importance of admitting what you don't know, and the value of being open to learning from others. The discussion also touches on the challenges of ego in the workplace, the necessity of reinvention in one's career, and the significance of comparing oneself to others in a constructive way.Key Moments The white belt mentality encourages continuous learning and humility.Admitting what you don't know is a strength, not a weakness.Ego can hinder career progression and personal growth.Reframing skill gaps as opportunities fosters a positive mindset.Every role is a learning opportunity; embrace it.Being open about your learning needs builds trust with colleagues.Reinvention is essential, especially during career transitions.Measure your growth against your own past, not others.A culture of learning promotes collaboration and trust. The white belt mentality is crucial for navigating career pivots.Feel free to send us an email at info@emotionalintelligents.com and share your thoughts or visit us at https://linktr.ee/emotionalintelligents Send us a text

Then I walk through what blue, purple, brown, and black belt hunting actually look like in the real world. Clear thinking about the wind, topography, elk behavior, and your own style. I also share a real elk hunt story where years of pattern recognition turned a blown setup into a legit shot opportunity. ---FOLLOW CLIFFYouTube - https://www.youtube.com/c/CliffGrayInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/Cliffgry/Facebook - https://facebook.com/PursuitWithCliffPursuit With Cliff Podcasthttps://pursuitwithcliff.com/interviews-and-podcasts/Cliff's Hunt Planning and Strategy Membership https://pursuitwithcliff.com/membership/Hunt. What if the edge you're searching for isn't outside of you—but already within? I sit down with Gina Tucci-Karnisovas—mental strength coach and former competitive athlete—to explore the often-overlooked drivers of sustainable performance: breath, presence, visualization, and grounded confidence. We get into what real confidence looks like, how to stay calm under pressure, and why mental fitness is just as essential as physical training—if not more.   Show Notes 00:00 – The “white belt” mindset: humility, curiosity, and reverence 03:00 – Martial arts, Stoicism, and her evolution into sports psychology 06:00 – Her mom's legacy: breath, Pac-Man visualization, and mental resilience 10:00 – From performance anxiety to mental strength coaching 12:00 – Discovering breathwork and yoga as transformation tools 18:00 – Why elite athletes still struggle with confidence 20:00 – Breaking down grounded vs. naive confidence 24:00 – How to build confidence through evidence and habit stacking 28:00 – Why mental fitness in sports must come from the top down 32:00 – The stigma around vulnerability in pro sports 36:00 – Gina's AM/PM bookend routines for mental clarity 40:00 – Mental nutrition: What's feeding your mind? 45:00 – Reframing negative self-talk and the reps of daily life   **** Release details for the NEW BOOK.   Get your copy of Personal Socrates: Better Questions, Better Life   Connect with Marc >>>  Website | LinkedIn | Instagram |   Drop a review and let me know what resonates with you about the show! For me, this was one of the most enjoyable, relevant, funny and amusing podcasts Tiff and I have done in a long time. While it's impossible to be objective about something you're in the middle of, to me it felt like a conversation that most people will connect with, relate to, benefit from or laugh at somewhere along the way. We spoke about 'getting good' at stuff, the social appeal and value of humility, our mutual inability to follow a script (versus going freestyle), my favourite guests (and why), the time my ego got destroyed in an airport lounge, the science and value of meaningful conversations, the intersection of purpose and work, and lots more. Enjoy.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Relax…Jiu-Jitsu is like farting. If you have to force it then it's probably sh*t. Baby every injury (also tap quick). Technique is everything. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is transformational. Why did you start training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? Is this the same reason that keeps you coming back, week after week, year after year? Contrary to what you might expect, AJ didn't immediately become obsessed with Jiu-Jitsu. It wasn't until much later, after over a decade of on-and-off training, that she truly fell in love with Jiu-Jitsu. She dives deep into how the physical empowerment and sense of community eventually fueled her passion for the sport. Jen's initiation into Jiu-Jitsu was a bit different – it started with a simple invitation from AJ at a speakers group they were in together. Initially motivated by the desire to step out of her comfort zone, Jen reflects on what has changed and why she keeps coming back. We explore the impact of Jiu-Jitsu on our lives beyond the mat - from how we've used it to boost our self-confidence, handle clients, and trim the dog. Why do you keep coming back to Jiu-Jitsu? Tune in to Episode 200 of Beauty and the Gi and get ready to reflect on your own journey. You might find, like us, that the reasons are multifaceted and always evolving. We want to hear from you! Is the reason you started training the reason you are still training? What has changed for you? How have you evolved on and off the mat?
