Cyclops is Waiting for Me - An X-Men: The Animated Series Weekly Recap

All the way back in 1989, a pilot was created for what could have been the first full X-Men animated series. In another universe, this series with Kitty Pryde as the eyes of the audience and an Australian Wolverine succeeded and shaped Marvel cartoons and cinema for the next three decades. But, as listeners of this show know, that wasn't the case. Rod revisits this pilot, one of his favorite VHS's growing up, while JC experiences for the first time ever, only having seen the animated intro and of course the X-Men Arcade cabinet of the 90s which was based off of these character designs. Welcome to 2024 with this flashback bonus episode of X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men. Cyclops is Waiting for Me is our weekly podcast series where we are going back and watching EVERY-SINGLE-X-MEN-ANIMATED-EPISODE we can find. Our first series started with the original 1992 X-Men: The Animated Series building up to the release of X-Men 97', which we originally thought was coming out in 2023. But since it's not here yet, we needed to find some other shows to cover including bonus episodes like this one. Mark, Jesse, Ronnie, and Robert Winfree get together to watch a play through of the 1992 arcade classic "X-Men."X-Men (エックス・メン, Ekusumen) is a side-scrolling beat 'em up game produced and released by Konami for arcades in 1992, based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name. The character designs of the characters in the game are based on the 1989 cartoon X-Men: Pryde of the X-Men. In the game, up to six players control the X-Men to defeat their archenemy Magneto. The six-player version of the game utilizes two screens housed in a deluxe cabinet. It was one of the top five highest-grossing dedicated arcade games of 1992 in the United States, while the Amusement & Music Operators Association (AMOA) nominated it for the "most innovative new technology" award. An arcade exclusive for many years, a home version of the game developed by Backbone Entertainment was released by Konami digitally on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2010, followed by mobile versions for iOS and Android devices. This version is no longer available for purchase as of 2013.Disclaimer: The following may contain offensive language, adult humor, and/or content that some viewers may find offensive – The views and opinions expressed by any one speaker does not explicitly or necessarily reflect or represent those of Mark Radulich or W2M Network.Mark Radulich and his wacky podcast on all the things:https://linktr.ee/markkind76alsoFB Messenger: Mark Radulich LCSWTiktok: @markradulichtwitter: @MarkRadulich

It's time for January's guest of the month, and starting the year off is Chris Osborne from "Play Comics" and the "Meddling Kids" podcasts. Of course we talk about Chris' shows, and because I can't keep my brain on straight we go off into an assortment of tangents. We get into podcasting and the issues with reaching out to guests, and Chris shares his pick for Recommended Listening, "Chrises On Infinite Earths."Chris Osborne is the host of "Play Comics" and "Meddling Kids." He lives in South Carolina, if you want to stalk him. He went to culinary school, and like me, doesn't use those skills professionally. He's both a videogame and comic enthusiast, but will not ever claim to be an expert. He is married to Kayleigh, who is also his co-host on "Meddling Kids," so ladies back off. She will cut you.I met Chris through one of the many podcasting groups on Facebook that we have in common. I tended to like and comment on many of his episode posts as he talks about comics and videogames, and I'm kind of a nerd and fan. After some time of this, Chris reached out to me to be a guest on "Play Comics." I joined him on episode 33 to talk about "Spiderman and X-Men: Arcade's Revenge." I freely admit it's not a great game, but I still enjoy it. Blame the nostalgia. In the time since, we have become very good friends, and now will chat on a regular basis. Not bad for just liking some guy's Facebook post eh?-Play Comics-https://playcomics.com/"I was sitting around with my wife one day watching some Marvel cartoons and we started talking about how the shows were condensing story lines and characters when I had a realization. I’d grown up playing all of these video games about super heroes without reading much of the comics. So being the giant dork that I am, I decided that I needed to go back and look at the games I’d grown up on and see how faithful they stayed to the source material. Then I figured I should take it further. Instead of just looking at the games I’d grown up on, why not look at everything? So the idea for Play Comics was formed."-Meddling Kids-https://meddlingkidspod.com/Meddling Kids is a show that looks at Scooby-Doo. But it’s not just a show recap, you can find that anywhere. We aim to look at the series and see why it has stood the test of time so much better than other cartoons of the same age, how it was able to avoid some of the pitfalls that the other cartoons fell into, that sort of thing. 2017 is nearly over and that means it's time to party down as we slam dunk this garbage year straight to hell! All things party adjacent and tangential get covered in this episode: arcades, barcades, Dave & Buster's, Charles Entertainment Cheese, and Charles Entertainment Cheese ripoffs that scar children for life. There's also some talk about video games, deleting scripts as people try to read them, and realtime ASMR directed at one host of the show. It's our narrowest of narrowcast episodes ever! We're sorry!  If you'd like to vent your frustrations, head over to Apple Podcasts and leave us a review! You can also scream at us on Facebook and Twitter, or you can downvote our videos on YouTube.  Games discussed include X-Men Arcade, 1-2-Switch, The Wonderful 101, and Chroma Squad Show Notes:  Sammy's Absurdist Pizza Buffet (RIP)

Before October gets too far away we take a look back at the top headlines of last month to see if any of them matter. Justin, Cole, Ethan, and Christina pick apart New Vegas bugs, Raven layoffs, Bethesda acquisitions, and everything BlizzCon. Send in your questions to simon@horriblenight.com or @TheHorribleShow It seems like it’s been a month since we talked about industry news. It’s time to get caught up with what exactly happened in October and figure out if any of the stories will have a long term effect on the industry. Of course though, before we can do that we need to talk about Threesomes. Ethan continues to put his loved ones through bad movies and we can’t help but wonder when his wife will turn on him. Our On the Spot Question this week is “Which hyped game do you not care about at all?” where Justin revels in avoiding Call of Duty: Black Ops completely. After scanning the headlines, Cole relives our arcade glory days, and Christina tries to fight map pack pricing even though she can’t fight Halo. Cole and Justin wrap things up with the odder aspects Kinect. Our advice, beware of our YouTube page for the near future. What a thrill to work on the original X-Men arcade game! Konami announced they would be re-releasing the title for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network and came to Mediajuice to create a high impact trailer. We started by remixing the music and signature phrase "Save The City" from the game, which hopefully true fans of the original game will notice. From there we did a batch of game-play capture, created custom motion graphics and edited everything together. In the end, the trailer came out great and our client was very pleased. Check out the official trailer for the re-release of X-Men arcade and let us know what you think!
