123. Behind the Magic—Ways to Save at Disney World This Summer

The Travel Hacking Mom Show

In this episode, Jess and Alex are sharing all the magic, insights, and travel tips they brought back from a recent media event at Walt Disney World. From exclusive behind-the-scenes tours to exciting new ticket and resort updates, they're joined by Megan—Travel Mom Squad's Disney expert—to talk about how to make a Disney trip more affordable, less stressful, and extra special using points and miles. What's New at Disney World? Big Updates & Summer Deals During the media event, Jess and Alex sat in on a panel with Disney execs and Imagineers who revealed upcoming changes and summer promotions—like 50% off tickets for kids (ages 3–9) and free dining plans for guests booking resort packages. They also shared how Disney is working to simplify the experience, with improvements to the Lightning Lane system and new family-focused resort programming.  Why Staying On-Property Might Be the Best Deal One of the biggest takeaways? Staying at a Disney resort may cost less than you think—especially when you consider perks like free transportation, early park access, and even character visits right in the hotel. The team shares highlights from a private resort tour, including a peek at value resorts like Art of Animation (with family suites for six!), the moderate Coronado Springs, and the deluxe Boardwalk Inn. Megan also breaks down recent stays at the Swan and Dolphin, All-Star Music, and off-property Hyatts—and why she's team Disney all the way. Making Disney More Affordable with Points & Miles Jess, Alex, and Megan walk through the credit cards they recommend for offsetting the cost of Disney, including the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card for erasing ticket purchases and American Express® Gold Card for dining. They also explain how to book hotels using points for on-site stays.  Park Tips, Lightning Lanes & Planning Strategies From early-entry tips to the best times to ride Peter Pan (hint: before 9am), this episode is packed with practical Disney advice. Megan also shares how she used the Southwest® Companion Pass to cut flight costs and why her family skipped Lightning Lanes altogether on some trips.  Planning a Disney trip this summer? This episode is packed with what you really need to know—straight from the Travel Mom Squad's latest Disney adventure. Hit play or share it with a Disney-loving friend!

In the 243rd episode of The Main Street Electrical Podcast, Jenn & Dave are discussing value resorts, value flights, and valuable savings at "Select" Disney Resorts. Dave is still getting ready for his upcoming travels, while Jenn is catching up from all of her recent adventures - then they look at a brand new Disney promo, one that is pretty awesome, but only for a select number of people... make sure to see how you can save! Then, a look at the Disney panel at the recent SXSW event, which included new Avengers and new Monster's Inc Coaster updates.  And the big travel news - Southwest's big changes. What do we think, and how will it affect YOUR travel? Finally, a look at one of the most beloved resorts on property, Disney's Art of Animation Resort. The overview includes a little history on the Art resort (and how it was born from Pop Century), and the overall theming of the resort and each room. Plus, a look into each suite and what you'll find, the transportation options to the parks, getting around, the Mermaid standard rooms, your food options, and some of the similarities, and differences, with All Star Music's family suites.

What are your favorites? Let us know in the comments! Now, here's the rundown of what we talked about: Updates from last week:We have some show and tell for today! These are some of the photos of our Grand Marshall family. Enjoy! (Note: You can see these on our YouTube post.)A few episodes back we talked about a refurbishment for Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at WDW. It turns out we were wrong, the only refurbishment is the one at Disneyland that started on September 7th. I'm sorry for any confusion I caused!Cheddar from the Big CheeseMike: The age old debate has been that Disneyland has better Churros than Walt Disney World. Well, WDW is looking to end that debate. They are coming out with a new Churro Mickey Head Cookie to try and even things up a bit. What do you think? Would you try it? You can find it at Big Top Souvenirs at the Magic Kingdom, and it costs $5.49. It's a sugar cookie with cinnamon flavored swirled icing. They also have a Mickey Churro Cupcake. Take a look at the photo and tell us what you think!Brenda: Do you like Club Cool? Well, if you do, good news, Club Cool will reopen on September 15th!Brenda: As we reported earlier, Port Orleans Riverside will be reopening on October 14th, with French Quarter reopening October 28th. Before then, though, both resorts are having some work done. Riverside is seeing some general construction on the check-in building, and over at French Quarter, work is going to be done on the Alligator Bayou Pool.Sophie: Great news! In this episode, we explore three different scenarios for booking a trip to Walt Disney World for a family of four. Just because the parks are closed right now, doesn’t mean that you have to stop planning! Disney is still taking reservations for June first and beyond. With just a $200, fully refundable deposit, you can secure your reservation, and begin planning your fast passes and dining reservations for arrivals this summer. The final balance is due thirty days before departure and you can make as many payments as needed without penalty. In all three scenarios, we look at pricing for a family of four, two adults and two children ages eight and twelve. All packages include a four-night, five-day stay, four-day base park tickets, Disney Dining Plan, and memory maker. In this case, we are looking at a Disney Value Resort, All-Star Music. Enchanted Ears Podcast: Anything & Everything Disney

This week in Disney News, the Game of Thrones co-creators DB Weiss and David Benioff backed out of doing the upcoming Star Wars trilogy that’s set to come out in the early 2020s. We’re not crying too hard after the much-hated final season of GoT garnered them much criticism from die-hard fans. We suggest some alternate choices for directors that we think would be a good fit for this beloved franchise. This week we discuss the Disney Value Hotels: The Campsites at Fort Wilderness Lodge, All-Star Sports, All-Star Music, All-Star Movies, POP Century, and Art of Animation. We go into what the advantages there are to staying in each one and some of the drawbacks. Then we rank which one we like to stay at the most. (We always stay in a value hotel since we’re at the parks so much.) Thank you for lending us your ears! Check us out on Facebook or submit a question/topic for us to discuss on a future episode or support us on Patreon.

They went to bell services and were told that most resorts have air pumps and can blow the tires back up for them, but that their’s currently wasn’t functioning. However, they said that the parks also have them! They were able to go to the stroller rental at the entrance to the park, and they blew the tire up for them. Jambeaux, everyone!!! Welcome to another episode of the Magic Our Way podcast. We are a New Orleans based Disney fan podcast. We also appreciate your feedback and are committed to listening to our audience.   On today’s show, we have Kevin, Danny, Eli of www.ivorycomics.com, and Lee of Magical Moments Vacations for this episode.   Please note: the Magic Our Way Podcast is not affiliated with the Walt Disney Company or its entities. All opinions expressed therein are solely those of the Magic Our Way podcast. No animals were harmed in the making of this podcast.   In the QUEUE, Lee talks about the recent upgrades and changes to the Walt Disney World Fastpass system that have come online recently.   Fellow MOWicans, ladies, and gentlemen. In the HUB, we present the last of our current series of shows with Andy and Aimee.   Andy and Aimee are old podcasting friends from our And Another Thing podcast days. They have recently taken a trip down to Walt Disney World and have renewed their love for the place.   They are a couple who wasn’t sure if they could go to Walt Disney World because they were not kids themselves OR they did not have kids to bring. Needless to say, after this trip and after our encouragement, their thoughts on this subject drastically changed.   On this episode, we present a series of mini-segments in which we discuss various topics based around their trip. The following are the topics we cover. They offer their thoughts regarding being a couple without kids in Walt Disney World. There had been apprehension about going by themselves because they felt that it wasn’t for them since they didn’t have kids. They did not think they could go and enjoy themselves as adults. This segment is not for our listeners, but rather for the friends of our listeners. They talk about their stay at All Star Music. They talk about their experience at Disney Springs. We also talk about their trip off-property to Universal Studios Orlando and their experience at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Learning from the experience of this trip, they talk about what they would do differently the next time they travel to Walt Disney World. They talk about what parks they visited. They made it to all of the Walt Disney World parks with the exception of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. They also offer their thoughts on the Disney Dining Plan and Signature Dining at Walt Disney World.
