It's a Boriqua affair on this weeks episode as we're joined by the wonderful Rosa Colón Guerra to talk about the wild 1990 made for TV movie, A Show of Force. Starring the likes of Amy Irving, Andy Garcia, Lou Diamond Phillips and Robert Duvall, you wonder how so many talented people got duped into this terrible movie. We discuss the actual Cerro Maravilla murders the film is based on, Andy Garcia taking a comical bite out of a snow cone, and introduce some prime caucacity. Also, Cameron watched the wrong movie... Rosa is terrific and you should follow all of the stuff she has going on! Follow her @sodapopcomics and check out her website https://rosacolonguerra.com/ for all the updates. And as always, you can follow us @white_pod and write to us at whitepeoplewontsaveyoupod@gmail.com We'd love to hear from you with suggestions for movies, guests, and what we should do for our first piece of merch! We'll be back next week, be easy and Happy Black History Month!

This week on Beer Sessions Radio, Jimmy welcomes the collaborators behind Pa’lante, a cream ale inspired by the Puerto Rican rice pudding, Arroz Con Dulce. The beer is flavored with coconut, raisins, and vanilla beans and aged in Pitorro barrels. Pa’lante means “Move Forward” in Spanish and proceeds from the project go to Friends of Puerto Rico. Hear from Kelly M Coffey from Big Alice Brewing who came up with the idea, as well as Joel Suarez and Matt Negron from Uptown Beer Society who have worked on many collaborations spotlighting Latinx culture. Rafael Barbosa of Port Morris Distillery and Cesar Andrade of Craft Culture also join the first half of the conversation and Paul Ramirez and Anthony Ramirez II of The Bronx Beer Hall join for the second half. Together they talk about what it means to be Boriqua, other recent collaborations inspired by their childhoods in the Bronx like Mister Stoutee and the Coco Cherry Mango Sour, as well as the importance of using beer to lift up one’s community through collaborative work and donations. Boriqua Tribez (AUT) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 68 Pt. 2 Bio: Since the year 2000 Boriqua Tribez is an unstoppable force in Techno. Boriqua Tribez' prevailing interest for disco/funk/old school/percussion-sounds is responsible for his unique style and mixture of classic elements and techno music, whether as a DJ (since 1989) or producer. Playing parties around the globe such as APOKALYPSA (CZ), FLORIDA 135 (ESP), TECHNO-FLASH (ESP), FABRIK (ESP), ECO FESTIVAL (SLO), M47 (HUN), AMBASADA GAVIOLI (SLO), INDUSTRIAL COPERA (ESP), PULSE FESTIVAL (SLO) to name but a few underline his boundless passion for DJing. DJ-support from the likes of Ben Sims, Carl Cox, DJ Rush, Umek, Cristian Varela, DJ Murphy, The Advent, Mauro Picotto, etc. confirmed his recognition as an artist. After releasing and remixing on several advanced techno labels in the past decade (Moop Up, Recycled Loops, Ingoma, Naked Lunch, Spilo, HzTrax, Patterns, etc.) Boriqua Tribez started his own Label called "BASICS" in 2008. After 12 Releases from artists like Ben Sims, David Moleon, Cave, Carl Falk, etc. and Boriqua himself he decided to shut down the label end of 2011 focusing back onto his real intension: DJing and Production (NOTE: complete Back-catalogue of "Basics" moved to "Patterns") During last couple of months the Idea of starting a new Label finally became true in 2013, so Boriqua proudly announces "CUBANITA" Records (which is named after one of his favourite Trax). No politics, no boundaries, no compromise - just bangin´ Techno that he LOVES. Furthermore he started to work on more mental stuff which has yet been released on Labels such as Naked Lunch or Amigos Recordings but there´s much more to come, so 2014 seems to be another quite busy year for Boriqua Tribez ;) Tracklist: Unavailable Total Time: 57:35 More info: Boriqua Tribez on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Boriqua-Tribez/193005107376746?fref=ts Boriqua Tribez on Discogs: http://www.discogs.com/artist/39635-Boriqua-Tribez Boriqua Tribez on BeatPort: http://www.beatport.com/artist/boriqua-tribez/11380 NightVision Techno PODCAST on SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/nightvisiontechnopodcast NightVision Techno PODCAST on Digitally Imported: http://www.di.fm/undergroundtechno NightVision Techno PODCAST on Art Style Techno: http://artstyletechno.hu/nightvision-techno-podcast/ NightVision Techno PODCAST on MixLR: http://mixlr.com/nightvision-techno-podcast/ NightVision Techno PODCAST on iTunes: http://itunes.apple.com/hu/podcast/nightvision-techno-podcast/id472942249 NightVision Techno PODCAST on TuneIn: http://tunein.com/radio/NightVision-Techno-Podcast-p534346/ NightVision Techno PODCAST on MIXCLOUD and DIRECT LINK: http://www.mixcloud.com/nightvision_techno_podcast/ NightVision Techno PODCAST on FB: http://www.facebook.com/nightvisiontechno NightVision Techno PODCAST on YOUTUBE: http://www.youtube.com/nightvisiontechno E-mail: nightvisiontechnopodcast@t-online.hu
Rescheduled Presentation September is Hispanic Heritage month. We are so thrilled that Jesse is with us. . In 1982, Jesse Bermudez, and others, united to protest poor working conditions for Latino musicians in the North Philadelphia club scene. The musicians went on strike and succeeded in raising their nightly pay. Riding the wave of that success, Jesse and the other founders created La Asociación de Músicos Latino Americanos, to represent and advocate for Latin musicians and music in Philadelphia. La Asociación first offered music classes in 1984, and the music school was formally founded in 1986. Record numbers of students were served, and topnotch special events were created and hosted. In the 1990s through 2004, they continued to significantly raise the profile of Latin music and musicians in Philadelphia.. Mr. Bermudez continues to serve the Philadelphia Latino community as the co-presenter of Salsa Caliente. Since Fall 2010, Salsa Caliente goers have enjoyed non-stop flight service from the fringes of Old City to the heart of Old San Juan alongside the hottest large music ensembles from the region. Mr Bermudez is a Grammy-nominated producer/radio personality, arts education champion, and music curator. He is known for his instrumental role in Papo Vasquez’s 2008 Album, “Marooned/Aislado“, which garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Jazz Album. His also was the main personality on the Saturday brunch-time show, ‘Sonido Diferente’ on Mega 1310 AM, which showcased regional Latino talent, as well as highlighted the multi-layered soul of the Latin music genre, with urban, soul, & jazz-inflected selections, that aren’t heard in mainstream Latin radio. Please welcome Jesse to our show!
