Welcome back to KnockBack! This week, instead of focusing-in on a specific game, movie, TV show, or whatever, we thought we'd do another one of our reminiscing episodes instead. Thus, today, our focus is card collecting. At different stages of his childhood, Dagan collected Star Wars cards, Garbage Pail Kids, Wacky Packages, and even caught the Smurfs bug. Colin, meanwhile, went through three distinct card-collecting phases: Sports (baseball and hockey), IP (Marvel Universe and GI Joe), and outright gaming cards (Magic and Star Wars CCG). So join us as we recollect on the time-consuming, money-demanding, and strangely-addictive world of card collecting that we were both sucked into at one time, and which many of you out there are still very much involved with today. The Gents and friend of the podcast Gary Simpson join the rest of the internet with roasting Mindy Kaling for gracing HBO with the flop Velma (1:25), a spinoff of the hit TV show Scooby-Doo that is receiving terrible reviews. EstoBro addresses the idea that removing the key component of the show sets this whole thing up for failure. Formal introductions are made with Gary getting the spotlight after winning the podcast's official fantasy football league (14:05). The Gents plus Gary discuss the opening road of the NFL playoffs and make the poor assumption that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were going to beat the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football (24:00). Another relative topic that yields to sports talk are Gary's passion for card collecting (31:45), which is expanded even further with how the secondary market has exploded for sports and trading cards. Impressed with his massive knowledge on the topic, EstoBro inquires Gary if his Search Engine Optimization (SEO) skills have enhanced his card collecting (46:30). Gary educated the hosts even further on what model he has used and how SEO can advance it additionally, the Gents give their guest the opportunity to educate the listening audience more on SEO and its major importance to technology, research, and modern business today (57:00). The show wraps up with the 'Meme Wars' (76:45) discussing the unfortunate events of the police officer in Tennessee that was fired for having relations with fellow officers in the same precinct. I first met Kyle in November 2020. A U.S. Military Veteran, Kyle was involved in a terrible car wreck on Veteran's Day 2020. First responders extricated him from his car and immediately took him to the hospital where he spent the next week undergoing emergency surgeries for multiple injuries. I met Kyle when he was released from the hospital and my firm had the honor and privilege to represent him in his personal injury case against the at fault driver who hit him. Kyle fought tirelessly to heal from his injuries and his day in day out attitude was so inspiring. We so often hear attorney's tell the stories of their cases. However, those stories belong to our clients so I asked Kyle to join the podcast to tell his story and I am so appreciate him for doing so. As mentioned, Kyle is a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard so we also talk about his service and its effect on his life and how he approached the challenges he faced after this wreck. We also talk about Kyle teaming up with a local Congresswoman to help the next veteran who finds themselves a victim of a car wreck facing mounting hospital bills and in the same position he was in after this wreck. Kyle has now worked his way back to being able to begin his career as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist and is getting physically stronger every day. Kyle is now a newlywed and feels fortunate to be able to continue on his life's journey with his new wife. Finally, Kyle is an avid collector so we learn about his baseball cards collections, NFT ventures and family heirlooms. My firm feels so fortunate to be able to represent great young people like Kyle and we are beyond proud of his recovery and his successes in life. As always, this podcast is powered by the J. Stein Law Firm. A personal injury firm in Atlanta, GA – www.jsteinlawfirm.com Thank you for listening.
