Jeff was paying a great price for his drinking. His wife left with the kids and he was all alone. She wouldn't have anything to do with him. It didn't matter how he tried to connect with her, she wouldn't acknowledge him. That hurt him more than anything. But it got his attention.
In this hard-hitting episode of Security Squawk, we break down a series of high-profile cyber breaches shaking institutions across America. From the ransomware chaos at Anne Arundel County and the delayed breach disclosure at St. Landry Parish Schools to the dramatic data heist at Riverdale Country School and the cyber assault on Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools, we uncover the tactics behind these attacks. We also explore the shutdown of Cleveland Municipal Court, the significant data breach at DISA Global Solutions, and the swift countermeasures at Cayuga Medical Center. Join us as our experts analyze these incidents, discuss emerging ransomware trends, and reveal why the dark web values healthcare data far above credit card details.
Jeff, a Cayuga from Six Nations, grew up off the rez in Buffalo, New York. He started partying at an early age and he worked to support his drinking habit. His team's success in lacrosse gave cause to celebrate often, and even when everyone else went home, for Jeff, the party never ended. He found out though, that not only does drinking ruin relationships, it ruins families.
AUNTIE: Wa'tkwanonweráton Sewakwé:kon. Today, we're visiting with Alex Jacobs Blum who is Cayuga and Wolf Clan, from Six Nations of the Grand River.Raised away from her territory, Alex now engages dual tracks of art and curation to find a pathway—to the natural world, her Haudenosaunee teachings and community - and to herself.Alex shares her remarkable journey back to Cayuga territory in Central New York a few years back where she reconnected with ancestors to find her path forward.AJB: You know growing up - there was a lot of shame built up around my identity, so I had been working to unpack and unlearn that. And then when I was there - you know I just felt so validated in myself and I felt so surrounded by so much care.AUNTIE: Alex is well-known for surrounding others with the same type of care as she nurtures a supportive web of relationships, uplifts young artists, and weaves Indigenous perspectives into institutional spaces. Through her transformative work she disrupts hierarchical power structures in storytelling and creates space for collective, Indigenous, matrilineal voices to be amplified. And in the wake of her mother's recent passing, Alex's work has become a way to make sense of her own profound loss.If you're in region around Six Nations, you can experience Alex's work firsthand—her In the Shadow of the Eclipse residency is on view at the Art Gallery of Hamilton until March 16, 2025. She also co-curated Ascending Horizons with Métis artist Kim Anderson, now showing at the McMaster Museum of Art until June 20, 2025.We are Yetinistenha ne Tekaronkyakánere – the Aunties Dandelion and wa'tkwanonhweráton greetings, love, and respect to Canada's Indigenous Screen Office – teyonkhiwihstekénha – who provide the support to keep this show running. The House of Commons held an emergency debate on Monday evening. It came after six separate incidents in two weeks, in which First Nations people were killed by police. Samantha Schwientek is a reporter with CBC Indigenous in Edmonton and a member of the Cayuga nation of the Six Nations of the Grand River. She brings us this story.
For the first time, the United States is owning up to its role in the deplorable treatment of Native American, Alaska Native and Native Hawaiian children at Indian Boarding Schools over more than a century. The report from the U.S. Department of Interior documents the deaths of nearly 1,000 children at boarding schools—many in collaboration with Catholic and other Christian institutions. The report includes distressing testimony collected at public meetings around the country from boarding school survivors and their relatives, detailing the personal costs of the government's attempts to eradicate Native cultures and languages. It recommends the federal government not only formally apologize, but also establish a path and funding to account for the wrongs and the continuing harm resulting from it. GUESTS Bryan Newland (Bay Mills Indian Community), Assistant Secretary of Indian Affairs in the U.S. Department of the Interior Ben Barnes (Shawnee Tribe), chief of the Shawnee Tribe and National Native American Boarding School Healing Coalition board member Gwen Carr (Cayuga), executive director of the Carlisle Indian School Project Levi Rickert (Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation), publisher and editor of Native News Online

Today on Long Island tea, Kristen and Sharon are continuing wellness month by talking about some more unconventional and fun forms of wellness. Kristen reads her horoscope and Sharon manifests the phrase “onward and upward.” They talk about their weeks and briefly touch on what's going on with Nassau County choosing to no longer be a part of the Long Island brand that Discover Long Island has built and what exactly that means. The ladies are sipping on the classic Pindar Winter White, one of Long Island's most popular wines. It's an off-dry blend of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, and Cayuga. Kristen bought a new couch and Sharon tells a horror story of ordering a couch online. Then the ladies talk about about items they have picked up from the curb. *HOTTEAS- let us know on Instagram or TikTok- what is the best thing you've ever gotten from the curb? FEATURE: The new call to address harmful algal blooms in Cayuga Lake and beyond
Despite growing up on Cayuga ancestral lands, one of the six nations that make up the Haudenosaunee Confederacy of Native Americans in New York, Lorna Rose '11, G'21 never really identified with her Native heritage. She was raised Italian American and always thought of her Italian roots when it came to her cultural heritage. But that perspective changed with the sudden passing of her older sister in 2020. That loss led Rose to a spiritual reawakening, cultivating an affinity for both her Native culture and her Native heritage. From the depths of sadness, Rose immersed herself in her Cayuga culture, reacclimating and reacquainting herself with her Native roots while rediscovering pride in belonging to the Cayuga Nation, the People of the Great Swamp. As the University community celebrates Native Heritage Month, Rose discusses her spiritual reawakening, the pride she feels through her Native heritage and culture, how the Syracuse University community helped her overcome depression and mental health issues, and why she's eternally proud to be a Syracuse University alumna.
What happens now that elections are over in the Finger Lakes region? Josh Durso and Jackie Augustine are here to break the results down following intense and close contests in Cayuga, Ontario, Seneca, and Wayne counties. They also talk about the recent election news in Wayne County where results were delayed by nearly an entire day due to a technical glitch. They also discuss recent headlines about Cayuga County Clerk-elect Brian Scanlan being ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident, the unexpected passing of Sodus Point Village Councilor-elect John Nesbitt, and Ontario Town Supervisor Frank Robusto Jr. being found with a loaded firearm attempting to go through TSA.
