Quem será que monta o melhor time? The Charlotte Bobcats existed for 10 seasons and racked up a grand total of zero playoff wins. The pinnacle of the franchise came in 2009/10, when the Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace-led Bobcats made the playoffs and ranked first in defense. Stephen Jackson arrived in Charlotte nine games into the 2009/10 season after being traded from Golden State. Stak was just two years removed from making history with the 2007 We Believe Warriors. That Warriors core - featuring Baron Davis, Matt Barnes, Jason Richardson and Al Harrington - dismantled quickly following their magical run. By 2009, Captain Jack was the lone sailor left, and he wasn't happy. He publicly requested a trade in the summer of 2009 and was shipped off to the Bobcats in December. Directly following the trade, reporters asked Bobcats head coach Larry Brown if he was worried about Jackson joining his locker room. Stak had a bad reputation following the Malice at the Palace, and more recently from a sideline blow-up with his old Warriors coach, Don Nelson. But Brown was not worried at all. Jackson, he said, shared certain qualities with his former student, Allen Iverson. "I can deal with (high-maintenance) kids. All you have to do is be straight with them,' Brown said. ‘After six years with Allen (Iverson in Philadelphia), I don't look at anybody as a challenge. (Jackson) wants to play and he's a competitor. Guys like that you can make work in your locker room." With Jackson, Wallace, Tyson Chandler and Boris Diaw, the Bobcats won a franchise-high 44 games and made the playoffs for the first time in their history. Despite getting swept in the first round, this 2010 season is a source of great pride for Jackson. Catch new episodes of Forgotten Seasons every Wednesday. Learn more about your ad choices. The hosts thoroughly explain why the 2012 Bobcats were the WORST team in NBA history. Between the front office, the roster, and the wild circumstances Charlotte had to face, it becomes clear as to why this basketball team was SO awful.

In this terrific interview some of the key highlights were: • The importance of a leader balancing inclusivity with also moving to a position of clarity where they can see broadly and make decisions for the benefit of the group. • His belief that the word perfection is dangerous because it is so volatile, and that the quest for perfect practice just makes people miserable. • How vulnerability is endearing to the people you lead. • And the wonderful quote he shares, that a master teacher knows the outcome before she or he starts, the good teacher kind of knows the outcome. Reese, Kmac, Pam and Alex discuss the trade that sent Bradley Beal to the Phoenix Suns, the suspension of Ja Morant and the Michael Jordan selling the Charlotte Hornets. Phoenix Suns traded Chris Paul, Landry Shamet and a collection of second-round picks and pick swaps in exchange for Bradley Beal. The trade is still being finalized but once it is official, the Suns will be in quite a predicament financially. Was this a bad trade for the Suns? Should they have focused more on acquiring depth instead of another star? Where will Chris Paul end up? What team fits Paul the best? Los Angeles Clippers? Los Angeles Lakers? On Friday, it was announced that Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant would be suspended for 25 games in the 2023-2024 NBA season for brandishing a firearm on social media. Did the NBA get the suspension right? Foul or fair? Too many games, too few games, or just right? Michael Jordan sold his majority stake in the Charlotte Hornets. He bought the Charlotte Bobcats 13 years ago for $175 million dollars. Days ago, he sold it for $3 billion. While Jordan has sold his majority share, he still remains a minority owner. Was Michael Jordan holding the Hornets back? Will the Hornets become relevant? Who will the Hornets draft with the #2 overall pick? Scoot Henderson? Brandon Miller? Someone else? When Damian Lillard had his 71-point game, it wasn't just a new Portland Trail Blazers record, it was also a record for the most points scored against the Houston Rockets. We know the record for scoring against the Knicks is Wilt Chamberlain with 100 points back on March 2, 1962 (see yesterday's episode)… so, how about the rest of the NBA?Lillard broke a record previously held by Allen Iverson, who scored 58 against Houston in 2002. The Answer still has one of the team-specific records that comes up when you go down the Stathead rabbit hole: the most points scored in a game against the New Orleans Hornets — specifically the New Orleans Hornets, with 55 on April 20, 2003. A double nickel… a dime, if you will, on 4/20.Thing is, Devin Booker had a 58-point game against the New Orleans Pelicans this season, and George Gervin once scored 63 against the New Orleans Jazz. So, let's just go through some players and admire their great performances that are records against some forms of team — most active, some not.Alvan Adams: 47 vs. Buffalo Braves, 1977LaMarcus Aldridge: 56 vs. Oklahoma City Thunder, 2019Carmelo Anthony: 62 vs. Charlotte Bobcats, 2014Elgin Baylor: 63 vs. Philadelphia Warriors, 1961Devin Booker: 70 vs. Boston Celtics, 2017; 58 vs. New Orleans Pelicans, 2022Kobe Bryant: 81 vs. Toronto Raptors, 2006; 65 vs. Portland Trail Blazers, 2007; 62 vs. Dallas Mavericks, 2005; 60 vs. Memphis Grizzlies, 2007; 60 vs. Utah Jazz, 2016Wilt Chamberlain: 100 vs. New York Knicks, 1962; 78 vs. Los Angeles Lakers, 1961; 73 vs. Chicago Packers, 1962; 70 vs. Syracuse Nationals, 1963; 67 vs. St. Louis Hawks, 1962; 66 vs. Phoenix Suns, 1969; 65 vs. Cincinnati Royals, 1962; 63 vs. Philadelphia 76ers, 1964; 62 vs. San Francisco Warriors, 1966; 56 vs. Baltimore Bullets, 1964Tom Chambers: 60 vs. Seattle SuperSonics, 1990DeMarcus Cousins: 56 vs. Charlotte Hornets (current), 2016Tony Delk: 53 vs. Sacramento Kings, 2001Joe Fulks: 63 vs. Indianapolis Jets, 1949George Gervin: 63 vs. New Orleans Jazz, 1978Gail Goodrich: 53 vs. Kansas City/Omaha Kings, 1975James Harden: 61 vs. San Antonio Spurs, 2019; 58 vs. Miami Heat, 2018Allen Iverson: 55 vs. New Orleans Hornets, 2003Michael Jordan: 69 vs. Cleveland Cavaliers, 1990; 64 vs. Orlando Magic, 1993; 61 vs. Atlanta Hawks, 1987; 57 vs. Washington Bullets, 1992Bernard King: 60 vs. New Jersey Nets, 1984Damian Lillard: 71 vs. Houston Rockets, 2023; 61 vs. Golden State Warriors, 2020; 60 vs. Brooklyn Nets, 2019Karl Malone: 61 vs. Milwaukee Bucks, 1990Moses Malone: 53 vs. San Diego Clippers, 1982Antonio McDyess: 46 vs. Vancouver Grizzlies, 1999Tracy McGrady: 62 vs. Washington Wizards, 2004George Mikan: 61 vs. Rochester Royals, 1952Reggie Miller: 57 vs. Charlotte Hornets (original), 1992Donovan Mitchell: 71 vs. Chicago Bulls, 2023; 57 vs. Denver Nuggets, 2020Tony Parker: 55 vs. Minnesota Timberwolves, 2008David Robinson: 71 vs. Los Angeles Clippers, 1994David Thompson: 73 vs. Detroit Pistons, 1978Klay Thompson: 60 vs. Indiana Pacers, 2016Jack Twyman: 59 vs. Minneapolis Lakers, 1960Get 10% off in the Willets Pen shop with the code WCPIO! Coach Michael Fly shares his journey from growing up in Kentucky to becoming a NCAA Division I Head Coach at Florida Gulf Coast University. He got his first coaching experience under the living legend that is Happy Osbourne at Georgetown College during his undergraduate years at the University of Kentucky. From Georgetown College he moved onto the Charlotte Bobcats (now Charlotte Hornets) and worked under Michael Jordan and alongside the likes of Dell Curry, Phil Ford, Jeff Capel, and Bernie Bickerstaff. After spending a season in the NBA ranks he moved down to Tallahassee to serve as the Video Coordinator at Florida State under another legendary coach in Leonard Hamilton. Andy Enfield was named the Head Coach at FGCU in 2011 and Coach Fly moved to Fort Meyers to serve as one of his Assistant Coaches. As an Assistant Coach under Coach Enfield he was a part of six ASUN championship teams, including the 2013 team who reached the Sweet 16. When USC hired Coach Enfield he had the opportunity to join his coaching staff, but decided to stay and serve under newly named Head Coach, Joe Dooley. In 2018 when Coach Dooley returned to East Carolina, Michael Fly was promoted to Head Coach at Florida Gulf Coast University and spend four years as the helm. He led the Eagles to the third most wins in program history (22) and set program records for non-conference wins, three-pointers, three-point attempts, blocks per game and total blocks. Coach Fly also coached the ASUN Newcomer and Defensive Player of the Year in 2021-2022. Prior to the TBC postseason tournament FGCU made a coaching change, but Coach Fly stayed and coached his team, leading them to the 2nd Round. Coach Fly reunited with Coach Dennis Gates and multiple other former Leonard Hamilton disciples at Mizzou when he was named the Director of Scouting & Analytics in May of 2022. **Sponsored by FastModel** Be sure to check out FastModelSports.com and use the promo code "BOXSCORE" for 15% off your purchase. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/beyondtheboxscore/support

Jason and Barton discuss how to be coachable and develop a mindset of learning to be a great teammate and specialist. Lessons on how practicing creates the confidence to keep shooting even when we miss. That goes for basketball and in life. Jason Alan Kapono (born February 4, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player. He was the first NBA player to lead the league in three point field goal percentage in two consecutive seasons, and he also won the Three Point Contest twice (2007, 2008). He won an NBA Championship with the Miami Heat in 2006.Kapono played for the UCLA Bruins. He was the first player in the school's history to earn first-team All-Pac 10 honors for four years and was also the first UCLA player to lead the team in scoring four straight years. Kapono began his NBA career with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who drafted him in the second round of the 2003 NBA Draft. He later played in the NBA for the Charlotte Bobcats, Miami, Toronto Raptors,Philadelphia 76ers, and the LA Lakers.Cleveland Cavaliers (2003–2004)Kapono only played 41 games and started 3 in his first NBA season, although he led the team in three-point field goal percent at 47.7%. He averaged 3.5 PPG for his rookie campaign. He became an efficient 3pt shooter but was also good from the free-throw line, shooting 83% from the stripe. The Cavaliers finished the season 37–45 and missed the playoffs. After his rookie season with Cleveland, he was selected by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2004 expansion draft, where he increased his scoring average from 3.5 to 8.5 points per game. He also made the first block in Bobcats history. Kapono also increased his assist and rebound average this season, although his total FG% including 3pt% slightly declined. This was the Bobcats first ever season and the team was very young and had potential, although they were also inexperienced. The Bobcats finished the season with an 18–64 record and Kapono was a free agent. Miami Heat (2005–2007)Instead, he was signed as a free agent by the Miami Heat where he was part of the 2006 NBA championship team. His scoring took a toll as he had a lesser role on this elite team. His scoring average dropped down to 4.1 for the season, and he only played 51 games in the season. But he won his first and only championship with the Heat. In the 06-07 Season, Kapono's points-per-game average and minutes played significantly increased, and he led the league in 3-point percentage with 51%,, which is close to the all-time single-season three-point percentage record held by Kyle Korver (.536), and is the fourth best percentage in league season history. He averaged a career high in scoring, minutes, and rebounding. Kapono also won the Three Point Contest in the 2007 all star Weekend three-point shoot-out competition by defeating Dirk Novitski and Gilbert Areanas in the final round with a score of 24 points which tied Mark Price's record for most points in a final round of the three-point contest. The 2006–2007 season is greatly considered to be the greatest season of his career due to his accomplishments and statistics. In this episode, we unpack lessons from the greatest player of all-time Michael Jordan. He is the man considered to be the greatest, if not the single greatest basketball player of all time. He has transcended the sport of basketball to build a brand that grosses over $2.5 billion dollars every year. He is not only one of the greatest professional athletes of all time but he also has strong business acumen. There are a number of lessons businesses, entrepreneurs and consultants can learn from this icon. Here are some lessons that Michael Jordan taught me. Practice makes permanent"Champions do not become champions when they win an event, but in the hours, weeks, and months, and years they spend preparing for it." Practice is doing something again and again in order to become better and until it is an important part of your life. In order to win a huge victory, you will need to spend hours, weeks and months practising and preparing. Failure to practice day by day can lead to a large failure overall. Jordan practised ruthlessly: his jump shots, defensive skills, and interplay with his team. Practice, of whatever skill - speaking, leadership, technical writing or networking is important. Fail forward"I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." There is no shortage of people and entities that are successful who have failed dismally and utterly. Lebo Gunguluza, a successful entrepreneur and Dragon on SA's dragon's den has been bankrupt and once ran from creditors. He said 'I have failed so many times that failure is tired of me.' Failure is inevitable but you should always fall forward - after all, Jordan was cut twice from his high-school basketball team and is not considered the GOAT. Master the game"You can practice shooting eight hours a day but if your technique is wrong, then all you become is very good at shooting the wrong way. Get the fundamentals down and the level of everything you do will rise" Effectiveness is doing the right thing; efficiency is doing things right - life and business is a game and if you do not know the rules, are doing the right things and are not doing things right then you can lose most of the time. After Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team, he went and mastered the game. He learnt all the rules and became a clinical player based on those rules. Learn to master the game. Raise your standards"You have competition every day because you set such high standards for yourself that you have to go out every day and live up to that." The only thing that can change business, career, relationship and life is to raise the standards. This means having a list that are a 'must' instead of a 'should' - you always get your musts but rarely get what you should do. The difference in people is their standards - the difference between Jordan and the rest of his peers is the insane standard of winning he had. Business and people who have a standard to always be profitable, regardless of what is happening in the marketplace, tend to be profitable. Raise your standards. Ensure Continuity"I viewed it as a business" Jordan was not only a great basketball player but he also ensured he understood the business side of the sport. There have been many successful sports professionals who after retirement didn't take advantage of the business side of things. Jordan, after playing for the bulls, went into management of the Washington Wizards and now has ownership of the Charlotte Bobcats. In addition, he has also built a media empire of endorsements and clothing that have made him a billionaire. Be sure to be able to transition from one phase to another phase to ensure continuity. Winning big is due to team...

Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Serena Williams, Lebron James, Muhammed Ali, Mike Tyson...aren't these people proof that America is truly the land of equal opportunity? When we see the financial success, love and admiration for black athletes, isn't that proof that we are past the horrors of our racist past? Simply stated, the answer to these questions is: no. Anthony Tolliver helps us see that success in professional sports is not the full picture of the opportunities and treatment of minorities in the United States. Anthony Tolliver played basketball at Creighton University before going to a professional basketball career that has taken him from the NBA D-League (now called G-League), to Germany, to the NBA. While in the NBA (at the time of this airing lol), Anthony has played for the: San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trailblazers, Golden State Warriors, Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Bobcats, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings and the Memphis Grizzlies.
