In this episode of the True Crime Society Podcast, we discuss two cases where children died after being left unattended in the heat. Justin ‘Ross' Harris and his wife Leanna had been having marriage troubles for years. They were trying to stick it out, despite Ross' having numerous affairs. The couple had one child together, Cooper. In June 2014, Ross texted one of the women he had been seeing and said "I need an escape. I love my son and all but we both need an escape.” Later that day, Ross took Cooper to breakfast and was meant to drop him off to daycare. After driving for a mile, Ross somehow forgot that Cooper was in his car seat. Ross parked the car in direct sunlight, got out of the vehicle and went into work. Seven hours later, after internal temperatures in the car reached around 125f, Ross left work and drove off. Minutes later, he realized what he had done. Cooper was dead in his car seat. Ross was charged with malice murder, two counts of felony murder, cruelty to children in the first and second degree, criminal attempt to commit a felony and dissemination of harmful materials to minors. Many of these charges stemmed from Ross' inappropriate communications with underage females that he engaged in sexting with. Ross was convicted in 2016. He was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole plus 32 years. However, in 2024, Ross was released from prison. A court ruled that there should have been separate trials for the murder charges and the sex-crime charges and his convictions were overturned. Read our blog for this case In the second case, we discuss the death of 4-month-old Tanna Rae Wroblewski. Tanna Rae was allegedly left alone on a boat in 121f heat on the July 4th weekend this year. Her parents were said to be swimming and cooling off. When they returned to check Tanna Rae some time later, she was bleeding from the ears. The baby was transported to hospital where she passed from heat-related conditions. There is an investigation into the baby's death ongoing. July is the deadliest month of the year when it comes to hot car deaths. So what better time to spread awareness? Coincidentally the most notorious hot car death case has been in the news recently. On June 18, 2014, Justin Ross Harris left his 22 month old son Cooper Harris in a hot car for 7 hours while he was at work. He was charged with his murder among many other things and was sentenced to life without parole. But on June 22, 2022, his murder charges were overturned by the Georgia Supreme Court due to an unfair trial. Harris was released into the custody of Cobb County on June 16, 2024, 2 days before the 10th anniversary of Cooper's death. Learn the ins and outs of this story and form your own opinion. Megan covers a case suggestion from listener and Patreon Mia! Thanks, Mia! This story is incredibly difficult to tell. Cooper Harris was a beautiful blonde-haired toddler, taken from this life too early. Cooper was only 22 months old when he died of hyperthermia, after being left alone in his father's hot car in June 2014 in the Home Depot headquarters parking lot, in Vinings, Georgia. Both Megan and Danielle remember the day this story broke, and when we tell you that the coverage was everywhere, we mean it. This story has recently been back in the news, and may take this story on a whole different path soon enough. Of course, we will keep y'all updated as updates come in. In June of 2014, Cooper Harris was strapped into his rear facing car seat, like he was most mornings. His father, Justin Ross Harris, drove them to chick fil a for a quick breakfast before dropping him off at daycare, and then heading to work. Little Cooper never got taken to day care that morning. He was instead left strapped in, in the parking lot of a Home Depot… where the Georgia sun beat down on the SUV for hours. After almost 7 hours, Justin Ross Harris says that he realized his son was still in the car and called for help. If these were the only details of the story, you'd probably assume that it's a very sad and tragic accident. A nightmare for the tired parents of an almost 2 year old child. But, there's so much more to this story that will lead to a charge of malice murder.TW: This episode details the death of a child. Episode 86 is about Justin Ross Harris and the death of Cooper Harris. Cooper was left in a hot car as Justin Harris went into work. Cooper succumbed to the high temperatures and died in the hot car. Justin claims to have forgotten that his son was in the back of his car because it wasn't his day to take him to daycare. There are some weird aspects and holes in this case. Did he do it intentionally? A very odd conversation between the parents was overheard while Justin was in custody but does it shine some light on his intentions? YOU Be the judge!
A meal with Daddy at Chick-fil-A... that's what 22-month-old Cooper Harris enjoys the June morning that he dies. Father Justin Ross Harris, 41, takes his son to breakfast, and then instead of turning toward the daycare to drop off his son, Harris drives to work, parks his SUV in the lot and heads inside. The little boy is still strapped in his car seat. The temperatures that day are over 90 degrees outside, and 125 degrees in the car, according to experts. Cooper Harris suffers heatstroke and dies. Justin Ross Harris returns from lunch, stops to put a purchase inside the car, but doesn't see his son inside. The discovery of the body happens that evening as Harris is driving home. He pulls over into a parking lot, unlocking the lifeless body of his only child from it's restraints. Harris is charged and convicted of eight counts including malice murder. A judge sentences him to life without parole as well as 32 more years in prison. Now the killer dad is asking for a new trial. Tracey Cooper-Harris served for 12 years in the US Army as an Animal Care Sergeant and upon completion of her military service, she became active in the Los Angeles veterans' and LGBT+ communities. Her passion for both communities and recognition of inequitable benefits for same sex spouses of disabled veterans led her to file a federal lawsuit with the US District Court of Los Angeles in 2012. With the help of Southern Poverty Law Center, Cooper-Harris vs United States was one of the first cases that established recognition of same sex spouses for VA benefits when the Court ruled in their favor. In addition to that ground-breaking lawsuit, Tracey worked with other veteran leaders across the nation to get the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans Act signed into law.

This Father's Day, we will be talking about a father that will be receiving no awards from us. Justin Ross Harris was a seemingly good father to his 22-month old son Cooper until June 18, 2014. Was Cooper's death a terrible murder or a horrible accident? Though the jury decided one way, there is still some skepticism around that decision that we discuss this episode. Join Kevin, Amy, and special guest Carl, Amy's dad this week. There are also some cameos in this episode of Abigail, our 11-week old kid. Sorry for that! On a hot summer day in 2014, 22-month-old Cooper Harris dies after being left in a hot car for over 7 hours. In what initially looks like a horrifying case of "forgotten baby syndrome", an investigation leads police to suspect that the incident may have actually been planned by the boy's own father, Ross. This is the story of how a man's forgotten child led to the discovery of the secrets he was hoping to keep hidden and the ongoing debate that surrounds this case. Did he orchestrate it all in order to live a child-free life? Or was it all just a terrible accident?FIND US ON SOCIAL MEDIA:Instagram: @crimefamilypodcastTwitter: @crimefamilypod1Facebook: Crime Family PodcastEmail: crimefamilypodcast@gmail.comEPISODE RESOURCES:911 Tape:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-5F9ALuxsY Leanna and Ross in interview room:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nh_qYrfpb6w Police Car recording:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0tcmdGktaI&t=902s HLN: Dr. Drew clips:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHRjVINk0jY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qipluvmndmM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9qf8zFdDII (Leanna Taylor interview): Dateline Nov. 2017 20/20 ABC Leanna Taylor, The Ex Wife of the Man Convicted In Sonhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkZuy9mTXJs News: https://www.wsbtv.com/news/ross-harris-trial/10-things-to-know-about-the-ross-harris-trial/451843304/ https://www.ajc.com/news/crime/justin-ross-harris-makes-case-for-new-trial-in-sons-hot-car-death/HK3UQAFIFBEABBTUIKELK6YYKY/ https://www.ajc.com/news/crime--law/five-years-later-hot-car-death-saga-still-haunts/8PODkIzEC0TWS1EtWDSiuK/

Risk-free advertising online with guaranteed ROAS with Cooper Harris So rather than just showing a consumer cool pictures, we actually show them viable ad units from which they can actually purchase. And then we do that on a pure performance basis for our brands. We're a tech platform behind the scenes and looking at things and making optimizations. It is literally an algorithm that uses its own learning to make decisions. We are super conversion focused. So we really want to show the right product, the right person at the right time. Brands are way overly dependent on Amazon. They don't own their customer, Amazon owns them. I think it is so much more powerful and empowering for brands to have a service or a platform that helps them actually use the data to do something. And that something should be to drive sales. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ SHARE THIS POST: RISK FREE ADVERTISING ONLINE WITH GUARANTEED ROAS [just click to tweet] We're a tech platform and we're behind the scenes. Our guest today is Cooper Harris, who not only has an impressive background, but has an impressive background in two different fields! She started her career in New York, where she landed a part in the soap opera, As The World Turns. But she eventually moved to Los Angeles and stepped into the Hollywood scene. After appearing in several movies and other TV shows, Harris became interested in entrepreneurship and started attending hackathons. Harris won the AT&T Hackathon in Los Angeles, and then went on the first Innovation and Tech Summit during the Sundance film festival, called Collective. UKTI Innovation Award, alongside Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas. And in February of 2015, she started a company named Klickly, an impulse buying platform and SaaS (or software as a service) product. It's built for those of us with very short attention spans. Her technology allows one touch purchases across social streams, and in emails. You can learn more about her company at Klickly.com, spelled KLICKLY and you can reach her @CooperHarris on twitter. Here's what you'll learn in this conversation I recorded at Klickly headquarters in Venice, California with award-winning entrepreneur and actress, Cooper Harris: 1.) The importance of having good story-telling skills as a tech entrepreneur. 2.) How to convince people to meet with you. 3.) Tips for perfecting your pitch.
