What if the only thing standing between where you are… and where you want to be… is one bold decision you haven't made yet?In this episode of Success Leaves Clues, Robin Bailey and Al McDonald sit down with Dan Turner, CEO at Xperigo, to unpack a career built not on perfect timing or traditional paths, but on courage, persistence, and the willingness to step through doors before they fully open.Dan's journey starts far from the boardroom, as an 18-year-old tow truck driver with no clear direction. But one moment, one story, one decision to believe something bigger was possible, set him on a path that would eventually lead him to the CEO seat. This conversation dives deep into what it really takes to grow into leadership, how calculated risks can redefine your career, and why the leaders who win today are the ones who lead with trust, vulnerability, and genuine care. From spotting opportunity before it's obvious, to building a culture that fuels performance, to redefining what great leadership actually looks like, this episode is a powerful reminder that success is not a straight line, it's a series of brave choices made consistently over time.If you've ever questioned whether you're capable of more, or felt the pull toward something bigger but hesitated to act, this conversation will challenge you to rethink what's possible. You'll hear about:Why one moment of belief can completely change the trajectory of your lifeHow Dan Turner turned a bold hunch into a multi-million dollar opportunityThe real reason most people stay stuck in their comfort zoneWhy risk is required if you want to reach your full potentialHow confidence is built through action, not certaintyThe mindset shift that turns “failure” into growthWhy opportunity rarely announces itself, and how to spot it earlyHow proactive thinking separates top performers from everyone elseThe role persistence plays in long-term successWhy stepping outside your comfort zone is non-negotiable for growthWe talk about:00:00 Introduction to Dan Turner and Xperigo02:30 From tow truck driver to CEO, the origin story05:00 The moment that sparked a bold, long-term vision08:00 Why big goals feel overwhelming, and how to start anyway11:00 Comfort zones vs. growth, why staying safe keeps you stuck14:00 The Apple iPhone story, spotting opportunity before the world sees it17:30 Turning a bold idea into a multi-million dollar deal20:00 Risk, doubt, and why the upside is always worth it23:00 The mindset that separates leaders from followers25:30 Culture vs performance, why they fuel each other28:00 Building trust, transparency, and high-performing teams31:00 Leadership today, why vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness34:00 The future of leadership and building a legacy that lastsConnect with DanLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/turnerdan/ Website: https://www.xperigo.com/ Connect with UsLinkedIn: Robin Bailey and Al McDonald Website: Aria Benefits and Life & Legacy Advisory Group

This morning I share part of an interview Daniel Gordis did recently with Dr. Dan Turner. Born in Jerusalem, educated in Israel and Toronto, Dr. Turner is a pediatric gastroenterologist at Shaare Zedek Hospital in Jerusalem. He works with a program there that brings Arab doctors from the West Bank, trains them in a needed specialty, then they return to serve their communities, supported by Shaarei Zedek. Since October 7, 2023, when many Israeli doctors were called up for reserve duty in the IDF, many of these doctors worked the missing shifts at Shaare Zedek Hospital. Dr. Turner shares his perspective on relations between Israelis and Palestinians, and what it would take to improve them. Michael Whitman is the senior rabbi of ADATH Congregation in Hampstead, Quebec, and an adjunct professor at McGill University Faculty of Law. ADATH is a modern orthodox synagogue community in suburban Montreal, providing Judaism for the next generation. We take great pleasure in welcoming everyone with a warm smile, while sharing inspiration through prayer, study, and friendship. In this edition of UBC "Sermon Discussions" Dan Turner answers questions related to his Genesis 42 & 43 sermon. The main idea for the sermon was: In a land of sin and sadness, God forms a clan of song and gladness.Questions discussed in this episode: What are ways we can see (not miss) the beauty in a mess? What are some things that we allow to get in the way, sometimes blinding us, to realizing that God is bringing us to repentance? I have given my life to Jesus and repented of my sins but I keep falling into (committing sin). What is wrong with me? If I have drifted from God, is there ever time he will give up on me? As a reminder we have created a place where you can send us your questions regarding the sermons or topics we discuss in these podcasts. Send them to sermonquestions@ubcbeavercreek.com.
Oct 19: In part 61 of the Genesis sermon series, Director of Biblical Formation & Community Life, Dan Turner, leads us through Genesis 41 and 42 teaching how out of a land of sin and sadness, God forms a clan of song and gladness.
Welcome to What Matters Now, a weekly podcast exploring key issues currently shaping Israel and the Jewish World, with host Amanda Borschel-Dan speaking with Prof. Dan Turner, the head of a pediatric gastroenterology unit at one of Israel’s most respected hospitals located in Jerusalem and Deputy Dean of the School of Medicine at the Hebrew University. Turner, alongside his work as a physician, educator and researcher, is also an ardent activist in a variety of fields concerning human rights and dignity, inside and outside of medicine. Our podcast conversation was spurred by his response to images of Muhammad al-Mutawaq, a severely emaciated 18-month-old living in Gaza, which were published on the front pages of newspapers around the world, prompting a global outcry about the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Following an independent journalist's investigation, it was revealed that al-Mutawaq suffered from severe illnesses, including neurological and muscle disorders. For Turner, al-Mutawaq's underlying medical conditions don't excuse his appearance -- quite the contrary. The malnourished child is emblematic of Israel's inhumane treatment of all Palestinians, from security prisoners handcuffed in hospital beds to babies who require special medical care in Gazan tent cities, he says. In a wide-ranging interview, Turner explains how he was "awoken" to his duty to advocate for Palestinians' basic medical care and treatment with dignity. He shares the blowback he has received -- and why he now sparks conversations about the ongoing war in Gaza by "looking like a caveman." And so this week, we ask Prof. Dan Turner, what matters now. In the final episode of Season 8 of the We Society, our host Will Hutton is joined by economist and former Labour politician Ed Balls, Dr. Anna Stansbury, a researcher in labour and macroeconomics from MIT, and Dan Turner, Chief Research Officer for the Office of Gordon and Sarah Brown focused on national and regional inequalities. All three have recently collaborated on research to do with regional inequality in the UK and the lessons the UK can learn from Bidenomics. In this conversation, they discuss the worsening regional disparities in productivity, income, and overall economic performance within the UK, particularly highlighting the stark contrast between the economic conditions in London and the South East compared to cities like Nottingham, Manchester, and Birmingham. The traditional narrative of the North-South divide, which primarily focused on employment levels and unemployment rates, has evolved. Instead, the emphasis has now shifted towards productivity, revealing that while employment rates may be comparable across regions, the productivity of economic output varies greatly. Dan Turner is a 40-something Australian with extremely high ambitions for himself. When he was just a teenager, he wrote a list of bucket-list items that he wanted to accomplish during his life — things like ultra-running and becoming a martial arts champion. In a quite short time, Dan completed every last one of them — except sailing around the world. We met in Nuku Hiva and I talked to Dan onboard FALKEN about his attempt to circumnavigate in a 19-ft, homebuilt boat and complete that bucket list. -- This season of ON THE WIND is sponsored by Weather Routing Inc., aka 'WRI', 59º North's longtime weather routing & forecasting friends.
