Sobre un trazado que combina los 24,358 km del Nordschleife con el bucle completo del circuito GP (sin la chicane Mercedes-Arena), 136 equipos y más de 450 pilotos se lanzaron a una vorágine de 170 curvas por vuelta, cambiante como pocas. Ni las nuevas normas de “Slow Zones” —que este año se ampliaron a 31 sectores— ni la obligatoriedad de rodar con un mapeado de motor específico durante las horas nocturnas restaron espectacularidad: la carrera promedió 195 km/h para los GT3 punteros y volvió a batir récord de público con 235.000 espectadores a lo largo de la semana. La parrilla 2025 estuvo encabezada por 26 coches de la categoría SP9/GT3, auténtica referencia de la prueba. Audi Sport llegó con el nuevo R8 LMS Evo III-24h, ligeramente retocado para acomodarse al “Balance of Performance” tras el dominio de 2024, pero fue BMW quien marcó la pauta inicial gracias al M4 GT3 “25 Years” con paquete aerodinámico Nürburgring. Porsche, por su parte, estrenó la evolución 992.2 del 911 GT3 R, caracterizada por la aerodinámica high-downforce homologada para el VLN. A ellos se unieron Ferrari con el 296 GT3, Lamborghini con el Huracán GT3 Evo 2 y el rejuvenecido Mercedes-AMG GT3 PRO que debutó el mes anterior en Spa. Entre los outsiders brilló el Aston Martin Vantage GT3 de Walkenhorst, esta vez con motor V8 bi-turbo revisado por Cosworth, y el regreso —veinte años después— de un equipo oficial Toyota con el GR Supra GT3 “Nordschleife Concept”. Más allá de la clase reina, la diversidad volvió a ser marca de la casa: SP10 (GT4) reunió 18 unidades con el estreno mundial del McLaren Artura GT4, mientras que Cup2 y Cup3 siguieron siendo coto casi exclusivo de los Porsche 911 992 Cup y Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport. Dentro de la futurista categoría AT-G, reservada a combustibles alternativos, Hyundai apostó de nuevo por el i30N Hydrogen, Audi corrió con su RS e-tron GT quattro basado en baterías de estado sólido y el sorprendente Einride Saab Aero-X bio-metanol completó 91 vueltas antes de caer víctima de la caja de cambios. Para la crónica quedará el “ADAC GreenDrive Award”, otorgado precisamente a Hyundai por una reducción del 83 % en emisiones de CO₂ “well-to-wheel” respecto a un GT4 convencional. La meteorología —siempre protagonista— fue tan caprichosa como la tradición dicta. Tras una salida en seco a 19 °C, la niebla nocturna obligó a neutralizar la prueba entre las 03:12 y las 04:47; de nuevo el nuevo reglamento de “Full Course Slow-Zones” evitó la bandera roja, y los equipos exprimieron cada segundo para jugar con los compuestos “cut slick” desarrollados por Michelin y Falken ex profeso para 2025. El amanecer trajo la segunda gran dosis de drama: el Porsche #911 Manthey-EMA, líder hasta ese momento, sufrió un pinchazo lento en el Flugplatz que desembocó en un trompo salvado por centímetros. Aquella incidencia entregó el mando al BMW #98 ROWE Racing, que mantendría la cabeza hasta meta pese al acoso del Mercedes-AMG #3 GetSpeed y del Audi #15 Scherer Sport PHX, este último rubricando la vuelta rápida definitiva en 8:05.442. Desde un punto de vista estratégico la clave residió en los stints largos de 9-10 vueltas gracias al consumo optimizado por los mapas “Eco-Boost” de turbo y la grada de 8.000 aficionados en el “Mutkurve” volvió a vibrar con la épica final: Dries Vanthoor defendió los ataques de Jules Gounon con un margen de apenas 5,7 s tras 154 giros, lo que sitúa a BMW como la marca más laureada de la carrera (22 triunfos) por delante ya de Porsche. En las entrevistas post-meta, los pilotos coincidieron en señalar la exigencia mental extrema: más de 650 adelantamientos documentados en la noche y 48 “Code-60” obligan a recalcular lo aprendido curva a curva. Más allá de la crónica deportiva, Nürburgring 24h 2025 reafirmó su condición de laboratorio móvil. Shell presentó un E-Fuel sintético 80 % neutro en carbono que se probó en el Porsche Cayman “718 GT-E” de la Universidad de Aachen; Bosch testó un LIDAR-over-Ethernet para banderas electrónicas; y la DMSB oficializó la telemetría abierta para los “flag marshals” que reduce el tiempo de intervención médica un 22 %. Netanjahus letzter Punkt auf der ListeEin Kommentar von Bodo Schickentanz. Der Krieg, der im Nahen Osten von Israel völkerrechtswidrig entflammt und nun vermeintlich von den USA am 22. Juni mit Benzin gelöscht werden sollte, droht zu einem „Zwei-Fronten-Krieg“ zu werden, zum einen in Israel und Iran und ev. sogar darüberhinaus und zum anderen an der Propagandafront der weltweiten Medien. Dazu könnte er ev. böse „nach hinten losgehen“ für Israel und seinen Premier Benjamin Netanjahu und dessen Sympathisanten in der AIPAC und dem Pentagon, denn sie hatten, als der „War on Terror“ begann, es noch nicht mit Russland und China zu tun, die nun hinter dem Iran stehen. Betonung auf „hinter“, noch nicht „an dessen Seite“.Das, was am Freitag, dem 13. Juni 2025, seinen Anfang nahm droht zum gefürchteten „Flächenbrand in Nahost“ zu werden, denn die USA konnten mal wieder nicht anders und wollten buchstäblich mit Benzin löschen. Mit der Militäroperation „Midnight Hammer“ wollen die USA den Iran an den Verhandlungstisch zwingen, den sie, unter absolut nachvollziehbarem Protest, erst kürzlich verlassen haben. Dort verhandelte man doch schon über einen „neuen Atomdeal“ bis einen Tag vor Israels völkerrechtswidrigem Angriff, um das „ominöse iranische Atomwaffenprogramm“ präventiv zu vernichten. Während in Gaza immer noch ein Völkermord läuft. Syrien hatte man im „Aufmerksamkeitsschatten“ des Umsturzes in Damaskus, ab dem 8. Dezember 2024, das Militärgerät mit gezielten Luftschlägen ausgeschaltet und nun schickt sich Israel an, den letzten Punkt auf Netanjahus Liste der „Terrorstaaten“ abzuhaken. Denn, laut Prof. Jeffrey Sachs (1), war der „War on Terror“ nach den Anschlägen vom 11. September 2001, eine Initiative von Netanjahu und der „zionistischen Israel-Lobby“ (AIPAC) (2) unter „durch 9/11 provozierter Beteiligung“, der auf Rache dürstenden USA und deren Falken im Pentagon. Die hatten sich „7 Länder in 5 Jahren“ (3) vorgenommen, die man 2001 zur „Achse des Bösen“ erklärte. In diesen 7 Ländern wollte man die Regierungen stürzen, wo es möglich war mittels der Geheimdienste und wo man auf zu großen Widerstand stößt eben mit Krieg. Und bis zum 13. Juni war der Iran der letzte Punkt, den man noch abhaken wollte und das schon seit 2001. (14)Es ist die berühmt berüchtigte „Büchse der Pandora“ die Netanjahu geöffnet hat gegen den vermeintlichen Erzfeind Iran, was nicht immer so war, vor 1979 waren die Beziehungen zwischen Israel und dem Iran sehr gut, unter der Herrschaft des Schah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, der ja bekanntlich von den USA inthronisiert wurde, nachdem die CIA mit der „Operation Ajax“ (4) den bis dahin regierenden Mohammad Mossadegh 1953 weg geputscht hatten. Dies geschah auf „Anregung“ der Briten, da Mossadegh die Ölfelder der „Anglo-Iranian Oil Company“ (AIOC, später BP) 1951 verstaatlicht hatte. 1950 hatte der Iran den Staat Israel „de facto“ anerkannt, allerdings ohne eine eigene Botschaft in Israel zu eröffnen. Als der demokratisch gewählte Präsident des Iran nach 1953 durch den Schah ersetzt wurde, nahm dieser natürlich die Verstaatlichung der Ölproduktion wieder zurück. Nachdem deren bisherige Führungskräfte den Stellvertreterkrieg gegen Russland beförderten und provozierten, versucht US-Präsident Donald Trump seit seiner zweiten Amtsübernahme im Januar einen Kurswechsel zu bewerkstelligen. Während er mit intensiver Diplomatie und mit „Deals“ den Krieg beenden will, blockiert nun Westeuropa in der NATO und in der EU diesen Versuch.Inzwischen hat Trump laut Medienberichten angedroht, dass die USA sich aus den Gesprächen zum Ukraine-Krieg zurückziehen können, falls nicht in absehbarer Zeit eine Einigung für einen dauerhaften Waffenstillstand erzielt wird. Auch US-Außenminister Marco Rubio hatte sich nach Gesprächen mit Vertretern von EU-Staaten am Freitag in Paris unzufrieden gezeigt. Es müsse sich in den kommenden Tagen entscheiden, ob ein Frieden in der Ukraine „machbar“ sei, sagte er den Berichten zufolge. Er wies demnach auch auf die Verantwortung der europäischen Verbündeten Kiews bei den Verhandlungen hin:„Ich denke, dass Großbritannien, Frankreich und Deutschland uns dabei helfen können, die Dinge voranzubringen und einer Lösung näher zu kommen“.Doch von diesen kommen weiterhin keine Vorschläge für ein Kriegsende. Stattdessen wollen einige EU-Staaten und Großbritannien anscheinend um jeden Preis und bis zum letzten Ukrainer den Krieg gegen Russland verlängern. Darauf macht auch der investigative US-Journalist Seymour Hersh (88) in einem am 16. April veröffentlichten Beitrag in seinem Blog aufmerksam. Zugleich zeigt er, wie tief das innerwestliche Zerwürfnis zu sein scheint, seit Trump wieder US-Präsident ist.Hersh berichtet, er habe in der letzten Zeit mit US-Regierungsvertretern gesprochen, die über die Friedensgespräche zum Ukraine-Krieg informiert seien. Er hatte bereits zuvor über diese Gespräche und seine Informationen dazu geschrieben – „vielleicht mit mehr Optimismus, als angebracht war“, wie er hinzufügt. Selensky fordert beim Gipfel der „Koalition der Willigen“ eine Kriegsbeteiligung Europas.Am Donnerstag traf sich in Paris die "Koalition der Willigen", die nach dem Willen von London und Paris Truppen in die Ukraine schicken will. Allerdings konnte man sich bei dem Treffen auf nichts einigen, dafür forderte Selensky statt Frieden eine europäische Beteiligung am Krieg in Russland.Ein Kommentar von Thomas Röper.Ich habe vor dem Treffen der „Koalition der Willigen“ in Paris berichtet, mit welchen Zielen der französische Präsident Macron die Staats-und Regierungschefs von fast 30 Ländern sowie die Chefs von NATO und EU nach Paris geladen hat. Macron will endlich Länder finden, die bereit sind, Truppen in die Ukraine zu schicken. Offiziell, um als „Friedenstruppe“ einen Waffenstillstand zu überwachen, tatsächlich aber, um für den Krieg gegen Russland bereitzustehen, den Macron vor dem Treffen sehr aktiv herbeigeredet hat.Keine Einigkeit über Truppenentsendung in die UkraineAllerdings wurde daraus nichts, denn die „Koalition der Willigen“ ist äußerst unwillig und es finden sich außer den Briten und Franzosen bisher keine Länder, die Lust auf einen Krieg mit Russland haben. Beim polnischen Ministerpräsidenten Tusk klang das nach dem Treffen vor Journalisten so:„Heute war es nicht das Ziel, Entscheidungen über die Entsendung einer Stabilisierungsmission in die Ukraine zu treffen. Jetzt ist nicht der richtige Zeitpunkt, diese Pläne zu konkretisieren, solange es keine vorläufigen Ergebnisse der amerikanisch-russischen Verhandlungen gibt.“Außerdem sagte Tusk, dass „bereits klar ist, dass Großbritannien, Frankreich und einige andere Länder“ bereit sind, auf dem Territorium der Ukraine eine Mission einzurichten, um „die Einhaltung des Friedens zu überwachen“. Der polnische Ministerpräsident forderte aber gleichzeitig ein Ende der Diskussionen über eine mögliche Beteiligung polnischer Soldaten an einer solchen Mission. Die Grünen als einstige Friedenspartei sind heute sicherheitspolitische Falken. Die SPD führte die Agenda 2010 ein. Warum werden linke Parteien mit der Zeit konservativ? Der Soziologe Robert Michels beantwortete diese Frage bereits vor über 100 Jahren in seiner Studie „Zur Soziologie des Parteiwesens in der modernen Demokratie. Untersuchungen über die oligarchischen Tendenzen des Gruppenlebens“. Darin zeigt er, warum Parteien ab einer gewissen Größe oligarchische Strukturen aufweisen und sich eine Führungskaste entwickelt, die vor allem daran interessiert ist, die eigene Macht abzusichern. Zudem sei ein großes Problem linker Parteien, dass diese danach streben, „Verantwortung zu übernehmen“ und mitzuregieren. Die Interessen der Arbeiter werden dann nicht mehr vertreten, sondern dem Regierungszweck untergeordnet. Liest man heute die Analyse von Robert Michels, sind Parallelen zur Gegenwart unübersehbar. Dunlop, la icónica marca que inventó el neumático en 1888, ha sido adquirida por Sumitomo Rubber Industries, una de las mayores empresas japonesas del sector. La venta, formalizada por la firma estadounidense Goodyear, marca un cambio significativo en el mercado global de neumáticos y pone de manifiesto la transformación que vive la industria automotriz. La operación, valorada en 701 millones de dólares, incluye todos los derechos de marca y propiedad intelectual de Dunlop en Europa, Norteamérica y Oceanía. Aunque Goodyear continuará vendiendo los neumáticos existentes en su inventario hasta finales de 2025, la marca será gestionada por Sumitomo, que además se compromete a adquirir un mínimo de 4,5 millones de neumáticos al año de Goodyear hasta 2031. Esta adquisición no solo refuerza la presencia de Sumitomo en el mercado europeo, sino que también le permite posicionarse como un actor clave en el suministro de neumáticos de alta gama. Impacto y futuro en el mercado europeo de neumáticos Sumitomo, propietaria de la conocida marca Falken, no cuenta actualmente con fábricas en Europa, pero podría aprovechar sus instalaciones en Turquía para la producción futura de neumáticos Dunlop tras el vencimiento del acuerdo de suministro con Goodyear en 2031. Wander- und Baumfalke, Bartgeier, Steinadler oder Rotmilan, alles Greifvögel aber aus unterschiedlichen Familien. Über 10 Arten von Greifvögeln brüten zur Zeit in der Schweiz. Viele davon stehen auf der Roten Liste der bedrohten Tiere. Zu den in der Schweiz lebenden falkenartigen Greifvögeln zählen Wander-, Turm- und Baumfalke. Habichtartige Greifvögel, die hierzulande brüten, sind Bartgeier, Steinadler, Rotmilan, Schwarzmilan, Habicht, Wespenbussard und Mäusebussard. Während der Mäusebussard mit rund 40'000 Exemplaren der häufigste Vertreter der Schweizer Greifvogel-Arten ist, gehört der Wanderfalke mit nur etwa 800 Exemplaren zu den sehr seltenen Exemplaren. Verschiedene Arten 11 Arten von Greifvögel werden zur Zeit in der Schweiz gezählt. Dazu gehören mehrere Falken und Habichte, die trotz Ähnlichkeiten nicht miteinander verwandt sind. Aber auch Sperber oder Eulen. Kämpfen ums überleben Viele dieser Vögel kämpfen heute durch den Verkehr, Gebäude oder fehlende Grünflächen ums überleben. An der Greifvogelstation Berg am Irchel, ein Programm der Stiftung PanEco, wird verletzten Greifvögel geholfen. Sie setzt sich seit 1956 in Berg am Irchel in vielfältiger Weise für den Schutz von Greifvögeln und Eulen in der Schweiz ein.

Hiroshi Takahashi aka Kaicho is an AE86/hachiroku drifting legend from Tokyo, Japan. He started drifting in 1989 and is a self-proclaimed 2nd generation drifter. In this episode, Kaicho gives us a history lesson and describes the drifting scene in Japan in the 80s and 90s, and some of the people who inspired him. Alex Laline is a lifelong sailor and one of our full-time staff at 59º North. Growing up in a multinational family, he sailed dinghies as a kid in the UK, Spain and Indonesia, then got inspired to sail around the world when he saw an ad for the Clipper Round the World Race. As a teenager he saved all his money and joined Clipper as a paying crewmember, completing a circumnavigation and later going on to work as a mate and now skipper for them as well, under the guidance of Clipper founder Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. Tony Angelo is a US drifting pioneer from Doylestown, PA. He found drifting from Initial D in the early 2000s and started sliding his car around PA back roads, meeting Chris Forsberg in the process. In their turbo FC Mazda RX-7s, they were heavily into drifting before anybody in their area knew what it was. They eventually hosted sanctioned events at Englishtown Raceway, introducing drifting to others on the East Coast including people like Vaughn Gittin Jr. and Ryan Tuerk. In this episode, Tony recalls getting into hot rods as a kid, discovering drifting, and his journey as a professional drifter in D1 and Formula Drift. He talks about the shenanigans they got into as team Drift Alliance, and his stint as a Formula D judge. These days, Tony is well known for his stint co-hosting Hot Rod Garage and Roadkill on MotorTrend TV, and more recently from his popular YouTube show Stay Tuned. Jojo Pickering grew up with sailing as a central part of her life, vagabonding on the high seas with her family and sailing from Africa to the UK. As she got older, she spent more time ashore, starting a traveling theatre company with her husband and kids and bouncing around the UK, France and Spain. But the sea called her back — she recently completed an Atlantic circle with her family on a gaff-rigged sloop and now sails professionally as a skipper on classic yachts and with 59º North. Jonathan Wong, proudly grew up in the San Gabriel Valley in Southern California. He was introduced to import racing in the 80s by his older cousins. After buying his EF Civic Si, he and his teammates from Team Macross 7 strived to make an imprint on import car culture through car shows and drag racing. He started his career at the bottom at a magazine called Super Street and eventually moved his way up to editor-in-chief. There, he influenced millions of Super Street fans as he helped to popularize JDM style. In this episode, Jon talks about the early days of import tuning in So Cal including drag racing at Battle of the Imports, car shows at Import Showoff, establishing his network through AOL chatrooms, his trouble with his first drifting issue at Super Street, his travels around the world as an editor, and he finally explains why he was fired. Phill Lee is one of the first street drifters in the Chicago area.  He co-founded ClubFR, an organization created to get drifting off the streets and to legitimize drifting in Chicago and the Midwest area.  Under his watch, ClubFR has helped produce D1 drivers and Formula D drivers, they've hosted the RS-R Drift Festival, Formula D Pro-Am, and most recently, Final Bout.  From ClubFR's inception to today in 2024, Phill played a role in establishing Chicago as an influential force in the USA in terms of drifting culture. Bill Strassberg literally wrote the book on the Viking Route, authoring the latest edition of the Cruising Club of America's guide to the far northern route across the Atlantic. Andy first got in touch with Bill when researching FALKEN's Greenland passage last summer and caught up with him late last year for the podcast. Robbie Nishida started drifting in the 90s in Japan, forming an all AE86 Team Hey Man! with his friends at Yokota Air Base.  He shares stories of the origins of his “drifting team”, how they befriended legends of Japanese drifting such as Nobushige Kumakubo, Dart Izumi Jr., and Hideo Hiraoka. Calvin Wan is one of the earliest drifters in the USA, drifting his red Mazda RX-7 (FD3S) in the Bay Area of California. He is a 6 year Formula Drift veteran, driving from 2003 to 2009. During that time, he had multiple podiums, including a 1st place finish in front of his home crowd in Sonoma, being the first import car to win a round of Formula D. He's also a D1GP licensed driver, author, stunt driver, a drifting judge, and instructor. In this interview, Calvin talks about his humble beginnings, his infamous crash where he totalled his RX-7 in front of the judges at D1 Grand Prix Irwindale, some personal memories of fellow Falken teammate Yoshinori Koguchi, gracing the stage at Tokyo Auto Salon as Falken's first win in a pro drifting competition, and his time spent drifting several cars on a narrow mountain road on the set of Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift. Last week Mia, Bosun Adam Browne and Chief Mate Alex Laline and I sat down in the salon of FALKEN to reflect on what's been a busy, stressful and ultimately successful first season on our newly refit Farr 65.
