The Daily Boost | Coaching You Need. Success You Deserve.

Memorial Day hits different when you slow down enough to feel it. We're honoring the men and women who paid the ultimate price, and the unofficial start of summer makes me a little contemplative. So today's a different show. I'm walking you through the three things I've been working on for years with every coaching client. Awareness. A peaceful base. And what I call the anticipation engine. Old Stoic ideas, dressed up new for the life you actually live. Pour the coffee. Sit with this one a minute. Then press play. Featured Story A client said to me the other day, "Scott, why don't you charge more?" Because I like you, I told him. You should charge more, he said. I don't really need to, I said. The way I work, my retention is something most coaches never see. My longest client is nine years old. I average about six years for personal clients. I average about six years for personal clients. That's why I rarely have openings. The reason it works is what I'm walking through today. We're always dialed in. It never gets old. We're always reaching for balance — and that balance has roots in something the Stoics figured out a long time ago. Important Points Awareness isn't the destination. It's the line that quietly shows you what's yours to carry and what never was. Put your worry on the calendar. Pick the day you'll actually deal with it, and stop renting suffering until then. Set goals from a solid base, not from grasping. Aim well, let the arrow go, and stop riding your peace on the outcome. Memorable Quotes Most of the wrecks you think will happen are just renting suffering in your brain because they aren't even real yet. Peace isn't something you generate. It's what's quietly left when you stop fighting for what was never in your hands. The archer's goal isn't to hit the target. His goal is to shoot well — all in, open-handed, and ready for what comes. Scott's Three-Step Approach First, build deep awareness of what's actually happening in your life — every little thing, processed, seen, named. Then use that awareness to build a peaceful base — solid ground that holds even when the day blows up around you. Finally, fire up the anticipation engine — aim at a goal, go all in, and let the result loop you back to awareness. Chapters 0:38 - Why we actually honor Memorial Day today 2:14 - The three things I work on with every client 3:19 - Awareness lives in the gap between thought and action 5:42 - The peaceful base nobody else is teaching 8:50 - Anticipation engine and the archer who lets go 11:31 - Pre-pay the worst case and walk in light 13:32 - The loop that keeps you growing for years Connect With Me Search for the Daily Boost on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify If you enjoy the Daily Boost, you might like Notes From Scott. What if one battle didn't just decide a campaign—but helped invent “modern” warfare? In this episode, Craig and Gaurav are joined by guest Simon to unpack the Battle of Breitenfeld, a pivotal fight from the Thirty Years War that reshaped how Europeans thought about battle. We start with why Breitenfeld mattered: it's often described as a turning point where the Swedish war machine under Gustavus Adolphus showed what coordinated firepower, discipline, and battlefield momentum could do against the Imperial forces. Rather than treating it like a simple clash of armies, the episode breaks down the practical mechanics—how artillery, pressure, and the chaos of attrition can overwhelm even experienced troops. A big focus is how tactics evolved in the early modern era. The discussion highlights the growing importance of musket fire, the role of artillery barrages, and the way troop movement and cohesion affected outcomes on the ground. We also get into the human cost and the scale of what changed after the fight, including casualties that are discussed in terms of major damage to the opposing force and the shockwaves it created across the wider war. But Breitenfeld isn't only about the minutes of fighting. The episode connects the battle to the longer story that follows: how victories like this fueled Sweden's reputation as a new European power, how Gustavus's personal standing soared, and how the aftermath translated into months of momentum before campaigns met the limitations of winter and geography. Along the way, the hosts also share why they love history and how the podcast series reaches into other lesser-known military topics. If you enjoy battle maps, tactics, and the “why it happened” behind major turning points, this one is for you.   Don't forget I have a Youtube Membership: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbp8JMZizR4zak9wpM3Fvrw/join or my Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/pacificwarchannel where you can get exclusive content like "What if Japan invaded the USSR during WW2?"

The pressure building on commercial banks today comes from several directions at once. Corporate treasurers are younger, more digitally native, and less tolerant of manual reconciliation. Business structures are more complex: A franchisee group running fifty locations needs fifty entities managed cleanly, not fifty separate bank accounts generating a month's worth of reconciliation work. And the banking core, the ledger system that underpins it all, was never designed to flex at this pace. The standard prescription for this problem is core replacement. However, banks are increasingly moving toward augmentation. Rather than replacing the core, banks are building around it, layering modern infrastructure above it to deliver capabilities the core was never meant to provide. Huntington National Bank's connected deposits product, built in partnership with payments infrastructure provider Qolo, is one example of that approach in practice. For Deepak Kapoor, Huntington's H ead of Payment Products, the realization was straightforward: "We quickly realized we don't have all the Lego pieces in place to build the card that we want to build, and the ledger and the virtual account provide us with that missing Lego piece that we needed." The result is a virtual account structure that sits above the core and behaves, externally, like a real bank account, complete with routing numbers, inbound wires, and automated reconciliation, without requiring banks to touch the underlying system of record.

In episode 159, I spoke with Ryan Curtis, an Army veteran and the writer, director, and producer of Hollywood Grit. Ryan shares his journey from growing up in a working-class town outside Boston, serving in the Army during the height of the Global War on Terror, and ultimately finding his calling as a storyteller and director. We dive into his path of learning the movie business the hard way — by doing every job on set so that when the time came to direct, he had the tools, taste, and leadership skills needed to succeed. This episode highlights how veteran discipline, adaptability, and problem-solving translate perfectly into the high-pressure world of film production. We also talk about how Ryan leveraged his military-honed leadership style to build a crew, direct actors, and bring together a creative team capable of producing a full-length Hollywood movie against massive odds, including the pandemic, strikes, funding obstacles, and industry politics. Ryan not only directed and co-wrote Hollywood Grit, a modern neo-noir film set in a jazz club, but he also employed over 50 veterans on set, using his platform to create opportunities for other veterans. We discuss the role of Veterans in Media and Entertainment (VME) in connecting veterans to meaningful work in the movie business and why saying yes to failure is the secret to growth. In this episode: •Post-9/11 deployments •Military to civilian transition and creative career shift •Importance of learning every role on a film set to build experience •Veteran skills (leadership, adaptability) powering film production •Journey to directing and co-writing “Hollywood Grit” •Overcoming pandemic, strikes, and funding woes in independent film production •Hiring other veterans •Value of teamwork, collaboration, and the development of artistic taste •Veterans in Media and Entertainment (VME) as industry gateway Episode Sponsors: VM Merch Go Pills -- use "VM15" at checkout for 15% off your order. I saw in my dream, that just as Christian came up to the Cross—his burden fell off his shoulders and back, and began to tumble, until it came to the mouth of the sepulcher, where it fell in, and I saw it no more! Then Christian was glad and joyful, and said with a merry heart, "Jesus has given me rest by His sorrow, and life by His death!" So he stood still awhile to ponder and wonder; for it was very surprising to him, that the sight of the Cross should thus ease him of his burden. He looked, therefore, and looked again—until tears flowed down his cheeks!

Government Accountability Office auditors are examining the “digital footprint” left by DOGE in Treasury Department, Social Security Administration and Office of Personnel Management IT systems, the watchdog's leader told Congress on Tuesday. Testifying before the Senate Appropriations Legislative Branch Subcommittee, Comptroller General Gene Dodaro said GAO auditors are looking into what data was accessed by the Elon Musk underlings during their forays into agency IT systems, and determining if any changes were made. “We're looking at the digital footprint within each of these major systems across government,” Dodaro said, naming OPM, SSA and Treasury specifically. “So we'll have a better idea about what impact DOGE's access has had on the data systems, and whether there's been any information input into the system or taken out of the system.” The General Services Administration unveiled a new initiative Tuesday that it says is aimed at helping agencies gain easier access to IT tools and shifting how the federal government approaches procurement. The OneGov Strategy is meant to modernize how the government buys goods and services and calls for more direct engagement with Original Equipment Manufacturers. The GSA said in a press release that OEMs “will benefit from a more direct and predictable engagement model.” Taxpayers, meanwhile, will benefit from a “smarter, more secure federal IT enterprise” under the strategy, the GSA said. While agencies have, in the past, bought software through resellers, the GSA believes this approach prioritizes direct relationships for enhanced outcomes. Stephen Ehikian, the agency's acting administrator, called the OneGov Strategy “a bold step forward” in GSA's “mission to be responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars. It's about acting as one — aligning to our scale, standards and security to meet the needs of today's government while prepping for the future.” The Daily Scoop Podcast is available every Monday-Friday afternoon. Many now agree that the NASA acronym (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) should instead connote Never A Straight Answer.  The historic "Moon Landing" has become a central issue amongst the growing number of NASA skeptics for good reason.  Modernized technology reveal so many incongruities in existing video footage & documentation that the government may, indeed. have "a lot of splainin to do".   Bart Sibrel, award winning filmmaker, writer, and investigative journalist, joins this special Thursday 5 PM Alfacast to set the record straight!  Bart has been producing television programs, documentaries, music videos, TV commercials, and stage plays for over forty years. Sibrel has owned five video production companies, been employed by two of the three major networks, worked as a television news reporter, and produced videos shown on ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, TLC, USA, and BET. He has also appeared as a seasoned actor on the stage and screen over five hundred times. Articles featuring Sibrel's films have been published in Time Magazine, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and USA Today. His awards from the American Motion Picture Society include Best Cinematography, Best Editing, and Top Ten Director. Sibrel grew up as the biggest fan of the purported "moon landings", yet gradually began to recognize their unfortunate falsification, largely because of his professional familiarity with their studio lighting. In Sibrel's mind, as well as many others, the claim that NASA walked on the moon on the very first attempt with 1960's technology, which only had one-millionth the computing power of a cell phone, when today with five decades of better technology NASA can only send astronauts one-thousandth the distance to the moon, simply defies logic. Sibrel believes that a religious attachment to the emotional event is what prevents people from waking up to the deplorable reality. Bart has appeared as guest commentator about the moon landing fraud on The Joe Rogan Experience, Geraldo, the Abrams Report, NBC, CNN, FOX, HBO, Tech TV, Coast to Coast, Candace Owens, Patrick Bet-David, and InfoWars. In his memoir Moon Man Bart Sibrel reveals, for the very first time, the official CIA code name for the real Apollo project, the military base where the first staged "moon landing" was filmed, and the names of fifteen United States government scientists and officials who were in attendance for the first moon landing falsification, some of whom are still alive today. This information was given to Sibrel by the Chief of Security of this secretive military base, who confessed his regrettable participation in this despicable government fraud on his deathbed. Moon Man also reveals Bart Sibrel's real-life espionage adventures investigating the CIA's greatest secret, including his discovery of privately recorded audio of an astronaut plotting Sibrel's assassination by the CIA, which would not be necessary if they really went to the moon.  Bart Sibrel is convinced that until the moon landing fraud is exposed, all the governments of the world will continue to rob the people under their care of not only the truth, yet also of their hard earned money, which continues to this day to finance their own deception. Boomer also talked about a parlay he's putting in and it involves his friend Phil Simms' alma mater, Morehead State. We got back into calls on Ohtani, his interpreter and the gambling situation. Jerry said maybe Ohtani isn't betting and the bookie gave the interpreter that much credit because he works for Ohtani. C-Lo returned for an update but first we took a call from ‘Carmine on Mulberry Street'. C-Lo said ESPN keeps updating its story with more details on Ohtani, his interpreter and bookies. Chris Russo was upset with Opening Day of baseball being on at 6am in Seoul. He said it's a ‘crime'. C-Lo has a Buzz or No Buzz: Aaron Judge & Giancarlo Stanton's performance last night. In Boston, the news said nobody seems to care about the Red Sox and their upcoming opening day. In the final segment of the hour, Boomer liked a joke on twitter involving Shohei Ohtani and Pete Rose.
