Today's Power Affirmation: I consciously connect with my meals, one bite at a time. Today's Oracle of Motivation: Sharing a meal was once a sacred ritual for all living creatures. Though we still depend on food for survival, much of the developed world has forgotten the sacredness of the meal thanks to the easy access and the "busyness" of life. What if you slowed down, closed your eyes, and dedicated all your senses to each bite of a meal? What is the aroma, texture, flavor? Where did this food come from? What sacrifice, cultivation, and transportation occurred for this food to end up in your belly, providing you with energy and a new life force? Every meal should be a Thanksgiving... In this episode, I discuss how what we eat relates to our vibrational energy. Food is nourishment. It is the basis of life, and we get to choose which foods to use as the building blocks of our own life. However, we have often been conditioned to crave foods that are completely lacking in lifeforce; foods that do not benefit or nourish us. In the guided meditation portion of this episode, I take you through several visualizations to help your system reprogram and shift perspective, clearing through the unhelpful patterns of craving empty food. Once your own energy shines through, it will become clear that it actual craves whole foods as close to the earth as possible. Repeat this one as needed on your path to learning to eat more consciously! There are also several books on my curated bookshelf at Bookshop directly related to conscious eating and eating for health. On this episode, I'm interviewing medical mushroom pioneer Jeff Chilton! With over 40 years of experience in the medicinal (non-hallucinogenic) mushroom industry, Jeff is looking to spread his wealth of knowledge about our fungi friends and their incredible health benefits! In the late 60s after studying Ethno-mycology (the study of human-fungal interactions) at the University of Washinton Jeffbegan a career as a large-scale commercial mushroom grower. From there, with a lack of medicinal mushrooms and extracts available in the US market, he founded Nammex, the first certified organic mushroom extract and supplement company in the US. To this day Jeff continues to spread awareness of all the incredible health benefits mushrooms can have on the human body and to inform the public that most mushroom extracts on the market aren't even real! Join me as I interview Susan Barney who early in her healing journey discovered the connection between food and healing. Susan became inspired by Dr. Gabriel Cousens's, MD, seminal book (a total of 880 pages) titled Conscious Eating and his commitment to including Ayurveda in a book otherwise focused on living (raw) plant-based foods. What Susan discovered is that food is energy and while nutrients are important, they do not reveal the complete picture required to create perfect health. This is where Ayurveda comes in -- as it takes a personalized approach to food that considers the qualities of the food being consumed as well as the individual's unique psycho-physical constitution and ability to transform food into a balanced body and blissful mind.
