We're podcasters, not astronauts, so give us some slack if we don't shoot for new heights with "The Beautiful Girls." A Mad Men episode with ample hijinks and comedy mixed with dramatic workplace sexism and Don Draper constantly disappointing the women in his life. Because, well, this is Mad Men. And the Mad Men "Men" never know what's going on... In case this is your first time digging into our podcast, we recap Mad Men from the perspective of a first-time watcher, someone who only watched the show once while it was airing, and a superfan who watches excessively instead of having a functional social life. Discussion Points: What is "The Beautiful Girls" truly saying about sexism underneath it all? Does this episode feel too much like a redux of previous Mad Men episodes? What drives Joan and Roger and to do what they do after getting mugged? Can we give it up for Ms. Blankenship, Queen of Perversions, first of her name and protecter of the realm, an astronaut if there ever was one? Is Sally really Don's weak spot? Speaking of spots, why did Don put Faye on one? Why does Faye struggle to connect with Sally? Is this the springtime of Peggy's youth? Extra credits: Matthew Weiner created Mad Men, which aired on AMC from 2007 to 2015. Michael Uppendahl directed “The Beautiful Girls” and Matthew Weiner co-wrote the script with Dahvi Waller. The show stars Jon Hamm, January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Robert Morse, and many more. Our intro music is “Mad Men Men” by Tom Davidson, which is an original remix of the show's opening theme “A Beautiful Mine” by RJD2. Podcast illustration is by Jon Negroni. In this episode, I offer an expanded perspective on the roots of disease and injury as learned through many years of studying the body and mind and training and racing as an endurance athlete. I share about my struggles with slowing down and how difficult it was for me to "chill" when injury or sickness showed up. For many years, I pushed through, and that only brought me more of the same. But in 2004, it all began to change when I embarked on an educational journey that led me to an undeniable understanding of the inherent power of the body to heal itself and the influence that our minds have over our healing. So come with me along this episode and open your mind to a new perspective on injury and disease as healing.

There is no greater worry for a parent than losing a baby. A baby's death is particularly distressing since it is frequently unexpected and goes against the natural order of life, in which the baby is expected to precede their parents. The emotional trauma of losing a baby can result in a variety of psychological and physiological issues, including sadness, anxiety, stress-related cognitive and physical symptoms, marital issues, an increased risk of suicide, pain, and guilt. All of these concerns can last a long time after a baby dies, and they can lead to a documented psychiatric condition like complicated grief disorder, which has many symptoms that are comparable to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Today, we will be having Kia Tumban on #Episode9 to discuss how she has and is “Surviving Baby Loss”. The goal of having this conversation is to share some key points with any dealing with a loss and how we as a community can be of help to each other during those times. Hope this episode positively impacts you as I did to us during the recording. Meet Our Guest: Kiali J. Going to Surgery & Delivery Losing a baby & the aftermath [40:00 – 1:09:13] The healing process Dealing with insensitive words from the community Sharing the lessons learned Kiali's book on "Baby Loss" How to get in touch with Kiali [1:10:00 – 1:15:00] Final Words Kiali's final words Anyoh's final words Tweetable Quotes “I choose to focus on the good and not the bad because I realized that where my focus goes, energy flows! So I decided to focus on some of the things that I have that maybe other people don't necessarily have, feeling gratitude.” - Kiali Garrett “I learned that the fathers of these babies, they're hurt too. Regardless of whether they carry the pregnancy or not, regardless of whether they went through a C-section or not, they're hurt! We need to be there for them as our spouses or partners, brothers or sisters, we need to be there for them. You need to check on them. Don't only send flowers to your sister, send flowers to your brother-in-law as well.” - Kiali Garrett “I feel like as a community, we should also tend to attend to the men because the men as well are going through a lot. Whether the baby is here or not, the men also feel that impact because they're also the closest wants to you, and it's also their child, it's a man's child as well so we shouldn't neglect their mental health.” - Anyoh Fombad “I remember when I was going through my journey, I was listening to a lot of people with a positive mindset and it helped me get out of those dark days that I was in to find some light. So I encourage you to share this knowledge with everyone around you so you can help them in one way or the other.” - Kiali Garrett LEAVE A REVIEW and tell us what you think about the episode so we can continue putting out the best content just for you! Living a more soulful life involves evaluating and re-evaluating our perspectives. It is a path we learn to walk with intention and attention. The destination is the journey itself. This week's Soul Path Sessions podcast deals with aging and going from role to soul: who we are when we are controlled by ego and who we strive to become, informed by soul, when we stay on that path. Deborah and Brenda's conversation covers a range of topics from how the ego begins to share control with the soul as we age, to how anger, grief and perspective change as we get older. The roles we embrace in life start to soften and as we embrace the influence of soul, we begin to view our choices through a more inclusive lens.
