054 - Posture Fitting with Siobhan O'Donovan AKA The Booby Physio Siobhán O'Donovan (aka The Booby Physio!) Chartered Physiotherapist Creator and founder of the PostureFitting physiotherapy service, PostureFitting Partnership, & GALS against GRAVITY workshops. If you had asked Siobhán 10 years ago what she would be doing in 2024, she wouldn't have predicted being surrounded by all things breasts and bras! But here she indeed is, on a mission to raise awareness of, and demonstrate her solution for, the very underestimated impact of breast weight on women and girls. A chartered physio with a Master's degree in the Prevention and Management of Sport Injury, Siobhán has always been a solution-seeker. With over 30 years of clinical experience working with patients to prevent, treat, rehab and deter problems, she developed PostureFitting, a physiotherapy service which connects breast weight and support with posture. The resultant effects on her patients in feeling, moving, looking better were too good to keep a secret, and she now trains other therapists to offer the PostureFitting service. Their mutual goal is to educate, empower & enlighten, in all ways, so that more gals win their daily battle against gravity, while busting breast & bra booby traps!

THE FOOD OF LIFE / COMIDA DE VIDA FOOD PANTRY Pantry Mission Statement and Philosophy: We provide fresh, nutritious food weekly for our neighbors in need, including vegetables grown in the on-site “Giving Garden”; and we offer information and referrals for a long-term improvement in their lives and health. It is our core value that all who come to the pantry find a cheerful, encouraging atmosphere where they are treated with respect: we believe having a full stomach and sense of dignity is crucial to an individual's ability to begin making positive changes in their lives. Who we serve: We serve the hungry population in eastern Dutchess County and northwest Litchfield County, especially the towns of Amenia, Wassaic, Millerton, Dover Plains, and Sharon. In some cases, recipients travel even greater distances looking for help that is not available closer to home. Some come from families who have lived in this area for generations; about 40% are new immigrants. Nearly half of those we serve are children for whom lack of nutritious food can have devastating consequences, including stunted growth, learning disabilities, increased health risks, and behavioral issues. Most are members of the “working poor,” for whom one emergency — illness, car trouble, temporary job loss — can swamp the budget and send them into crisis, with not enough money for food. WOULD YOU LIKE MORE INFORMATION? For information on the food pantry, Contact AJ Stack, Pantry Executive director: 845-373-9161 Email: Contactus@StThomasAmenia.COM We need Volunteers for our weekly food pantry! If you can help please fill out the the form in the link below and we will contact you asap! Thank you for helping us serve our community! We are doing our best to keep the food pantry open through this crisis. VOLUNTEER

Some ideas are easy to communicate. Others are not as easily embraced. Our guest for this episode of Messaging on a Mission is Paul Rodney Turner, founder of Food for Life Global, the world's largest vegan food relief with 211 projects in 60 countries serving up to 2 million meals daily. We hear about his journey from monk to the leader of a global nonprofit (as well as billiards champion). Plus, we learn his views on the energetic connection between all living things—and how that connection can help us end world hunger. Episode Guest(s): As the founder of Food for Life Global, Paul Rodney Turner is a vegan social entrepreneur trying to make the world a better place. He has more than 35 years of experience in Food Security, Food & Nutrition, World Hunger, and the Nonprofit Sector. Other credits include writing books, spending time as a former monk, winning billiards championships, and running animal sanctuaries. Food For Life Global is the world's largest vegan food relief with 211 projects in 60 countries serving up to 2 million meals daily. In fact, Food for Life Global has served over 7.9 billion meals to date and on average can feed someone a completely freshly cooked meal for around 50 cents. They are the most cost-effective hunger-relief organization in the world, which just happens to be vegan. Key Takeaways: There's plenty of food in the world. In fact, the world can produce, the world can feed something like two to three times the population, but they didn't ask the big question of why is there. I felt like we did have the answer. The reason is that we don't see ourselves as a global family. The solution is that if we see ourselves as a global family, then problems like world hunger will disappear. Maybe not overnight, but very fast. That is the solution to all the problems in the world. To help someone see your point of view, treat them as if there were a friend you are encouraging them to see things from a different perspective. Use other topics to illustrate your own. Factory farming or animal agriculture is the biggest contributor to global warming to environmental degradation. Live your own life, not someone else's. The menopause can cause all sorts of changes in your body – weight gain, hot flushes, sleeplessness and joint pain amongst others. Can what you eat help ease these symptoms? Officially a woman has reached menopause after 12 months without a period, however the transition itself can take years. Many women are prescribed hormone replacement therapy to tackle some of these symptoms, but lifestyle changes can also be helpful. In this programme we're joined by three women who have experienced menopause and found some benefits in food. Elizabeth Ward is a registered dietitian based in the United States. She co-wrote a book called ‘The Menopause Diet Plan, A Natural Guide to Managing Hormones, Health and Happiness'. Fiona Staunton is a trained chef in Dublin, Ireland, who offers menopause cookery courses called ‘Fiona's Food For Life'. Sue Mbaya is a Zimbabwean living in Ethiopia, she works in policy and governance, and presents the podcast ‘Pause for Menopause'. (Picture: woman using hand held fan.
