"Hardball" was a 1994 sitcom that aired on Fox. The show centered around the Pioneers, a fictional American League baseball team struggling to stay out of last place. Hardball was originally intended to be released along side of that year's World Series but a real life MLB strike prevented that from happening and instead become part of the first FOX NFL Sunday. Despite coming off the heels of multiple successful baseball movies and the show's ensemble cast which featured Mike Starr, Bruce Greenwood, and a very young Joe Rogan (in his first acting credit). Hardball was canceled after only 7 episodes. Many contribute the timing of the strike to being a factor behind the show's low viewership. 30 years later will the S1E1 crew call this one a homerun or will it strike out? Listen as they deep dive the pilot episode. (You can learn more about MVP at vetsandplayers.org.)On this episode of Mindful Warrior Radio, Jay talks openly about how his healing journey taught him to love himself from the inside out.He shares this insight from a recent healing retreat:"This monk told me, 'I need you to sit in your pain.'”I said, “I am with my pain every day.”He said, “No. You experience your pain every day; I need you to sit in it.”And I was like, “I've never heard it put like that before.'"He also unpacks the healing power of moving through pain. "A lot of times, you don't want to do it because it's painful. But to get to anything good, you've got to go through something bad. Everything I have experienced has made me unbreakable: push your breaking point, come through the other side of that tunnel, and nothing else can break or hurt you."And ultimately, what surprised him the most from his healing journey was “how many people have been hiding this and how many have expressed gratitude.” He says, “I've had a bunch of people tell me I saved their lives. They were contemplating suicide until they read Unbreakable or heard me on my podcast. Something resonated; they felt they were not alone, and they changed their minds. That's the coolest thing."To learn more about Mindful Warrior and Mindful Warrior Radio, please follow us on Instagram @therealmindfulwarrior and check out our website at www.mindfulwarrior.com.

Was Michael Strahan always going to be a ubiquitous presence—from Good Morning America host to NFL commentator to having his own line of clothing at Men's Wearhouse? Maybe—but if you ask him, he would tell you it wouldn't have happened were it not for his move from Texas to New York. There was also another thing: winning a Super Bowl. On this episode of The Deal, the ex-football Giant says trial by fire in the most unforgiving of sports towns set him on the path to success in everything else. Strahan has put together a post-NFL career that's unique for its simultaneous proximity and distance from the game. On one hand, there he is every Sunday during the season, jawing with a coterie of ex-players and coaches on Fox NFL Sunday. But during the week, he's a co-host of Good Morning America, alongside Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos. Then there are the apparel lines with JCPenney and Men's Wearhouse, and an annual collaboration with Starter for the Super Bowl. His co-architect in all of this is Constance Schwartz-Morini, a former NFL executive-turned-manager who's also worked with Snoop Dogg, Erin Andrews and Deion Sanders. Much of that work has come under the auspices of SMAC Entertainment, the firm Strahan and Schwartz-Morini created in 2011. We also got a chance to sit down with Schwartz-Morini, who is our guest on episode three of The Deal, dropping March 15.You can also watch The Deal on Bloomberg Originals, YouTube, or Bloomberg TV.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Jason Charles "Jay" Glazer is a television personality and sports reporter. Since 2004, he has worked as an National Football League insider for Fox Sports' NFL pregame studio show, FOX NFL Sunday, on which he reports exclusives, late-breaking updates, injury news, and other reports.
ABOUT JAY GLAZER AND UNBREAKABLE "Hey Teammate, we all face obstacles-physical, emotional, between the ears. The good news is that everything we have fought back against can empower us, IF WE KNOW HOW TO USE IT. My obstacles happen to be anxiety and depression. I call it living in the gray, and I've been mired in it my whole life. To be honest, it sucks. But I have also recently recognized that this same gray that has held me down has also empowered me to make my wildest dreams come true. You have probably overcome many of your own obstacles, but you've been too close to the conflict to clearly see what you've accomplished. We are all UNBREAKABLE, no matter what we do, who we are, or what traumas we may have experienced. We just need to admit that we can't walk this walk alone." --Jay Glazer After years of rejection but with constant hustle, Jay Glazer has built a career has one of the most iconic sports insiders, earning himself a spot on the Emmy award-winning Fox NFL Sunday, a role as the confidant of coaches and players across the league, and a role as himself alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson on HBO series Ballers. His gym, Unbreakable Performance Center, attracts some of the biggest names in Hollywood, and is the headquarters to the powerful charity MVP (Merging Vets and Players) that Jay founded in 2015. Living in the gray, as Jay calls it, is just a constant for him. And, in order to work through the gray and succeed, Jay has to maintain an Unbreakable Mindset. With this book, you can: · Be of Service-help others and help yourself in the process· Build Your Team-give support, get support· Never Underestimate the Power of Laughter-never take yourself too seriously· Be Proud of Your Scars-our trauma makes us who we are Throughout Unbreakable, Jay will use his stories-featuring some of the biggest, baddest, and most fascinating characters in the public eye today-to show how he walks this walk, has learned that while the gray is very real, it doesn't have to define him. And it doesn't have to define you either. Jay takes readers on a behind-the-scenes journey, sharing never-before-heard stories about his own mental health that feature some of the most fascinating characters in the public eye today. The book offers honest, outspoken advice and insights gleaned from Jay's own fight against the dark forces of depression and anxiety, his decades-long journey to the top of sports-journalism and his traumatic survival of a near-death experience. From an unlikely friendship with Michael Strahan that opened the door to his big break inside the NFL sports reporting, to helping veterans fight for their lives in the gym and even playing himself on the hit HBO show Ballers, Jay has seen it all. His experiences acting as coach to musicians like Wiz Khalifa and Demi Lovato to award-winning athletes and some of the most powerful people in business have given him the ability to laugh at himself while keeping up the fight against his own mental health struggles. From the beginning of the 9 o'clock hour. Gio thinks the most disappointed fanbase has to be the Buffalo Bills. And why does the Fox pregame show always have the guys standing around?

EPISODE 85: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: Kevin McCarthy says: "Stop Picking On Elon Musk!" FINALLY, because two of the worst Republican politicians shot off their big bazoos, we get a clue as to what Musk is doing to Twitter. He's running the same play on it that John Malone ran on CNN: (4:02) see the platform that permits criticism of fascists, buy the platform, claim you only want to make it again into "sensible and centrist" media, shift the Overton Window as far right as you can, and turn it into radical right propaganda.(7:46) After Musk's self-martyring battle with Apple, his next fight may come from Google. Axios reports Google is "monitoring developments" on the lack of content moderation at Twitter and could remove the App from its Google Play Store (11:25) What specific political rewards Musk should be expecting is still unclear but to hear Kevin McCarthy and Ron DeSantis whine about it, you'd think Musk had been kidnapped by pirates. DeSantis went so far as to suggest that if Apple removes Twitter from its App Store, Congress should "respond." B-Block (17:35) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Meatball, in Staten Island (18:33) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Senate passes Same-Sex Marriage, House to take up Paid Leave for Railroad Workers, Stewart Rhodes convicted, Trump still avoids condemning Nick Fuentes (20:49) IN SPORTS: World Cup Win, Golf War could end if they fire Greg Norman, Joey Votto beaten by 9-year old (22:55) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: So, yeah, I ate a box of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups without taking off the brown wrappers - of course this was in 1966. I compete with Herschel "Texas Ranger" Walker and Marjorie "Masks Can't Stop Farts" Greene for the honors. C-Block (29:30) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: It's roughly the anniversary of the day I got a call about how they were going to fire Jimmy Kimmel and could I replace him? It's not exactly what it sounds like - I'll explain.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
