2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz Review: Trucks On

Quick Spin

The once full compact truck space was filled with any number of budget-friendly small trucks that would handle the arduous task of hauling landscaping pieces from your local home store, or moving a Go-Kart has disappeared. Those small trucks either grew into the mid-size trucks we know today or fell into the footnotes of history, like the rotary-powered Mazda REPU. The folks at Hyundai jumped back into the underserviced space with the crossover-based Hyundai Santa Cruz. Riding on the same N3 platform as the similarly named Sante Fe, this Santa Cruz pickup essentially gives you the comfort and convenience of a modern crossover, with a separated, external four-foot cargo space – or bed, for the truck enthusiasts. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz and puts it through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the '25 Santa Cruz and highlights some of its updates and some of his favorite features. Later, Wren takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Wren chats with Autoweek executive editor Tom Murphy about the Santa Cruz, the competitive set, and more. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz so special.

Nuacht Mhall. Príomhscéalta na seachtaine, léite go mall.*Inniu an t-ochtú lá de mhí an Mhárta. Is mise Niall Ó Siadhail.Tá sé ráite ag na húdaráis in Sante Fe, New Mexico, go bhfuair an t-aisteoir mór le rá Gene Hackman agus a bhean chéile Betsy Arakawa bás nádúrtha an mhí seo caite. Thángthas ar an bheirt agus iad marbh ina dteach ag deireadh mhí Feabhra, agus i ndiaidh fiosrúcháin is léir go bhfuair Arakawa bás mar gheall ar shiondróm scamhógach hantaivíris, galar neamhchoitianta a scaipeann creimirí, agus gur mhair Hackman beagnach seachtain eile ina diaidh. Bhí Hackman an-tinn le tamall, agus bhí galar croí, galar Alzheimer agus galar duáin air.  BhainHackman clú agus cáil amach sna 1970idí i scannáin ar nós The French Connection agus The Poseidon Adventure. Bhain sé gradam Oscar as a ról in The French Connection agus as ról tacaíochta in Unforgiven in 1992. Suaimhneas síoraí orthu beirt.Thug rí Nigéarach samplaí uisce leis chuig réamhthriail i Londain an tseachtain seo. Bhí an Rí Godwin Bebe Okpabi ag labhairt thar ceann a phobail i nDeilt Abhainn na Nígire maidir le truailliú a rinne an comhlacht ola Shell sa cheantar. Bhí an réamhthriail ar siúl chun scóip na gceisteanna dlíthiúla a shocrú roimh an phríomhthriail, a tharlóidh an bhliain seo chugainn. Dar le Okpabi, tá Shell i ndiaidh na milliúin dollar a chaitheamh ar na dlíodóirí is fearr, in áit an t-airgead sin a chaitheamh ar ghlanadh uiscí agus talamh a phobail. Tá an modh maireachtálatraidisiúnta sa cheantar scriosta, dar leis, agus ta2 leibhéal an-ard ailse sa réigiún, fiú i measc daoine óga. Chuir an Chéad-Aire, MichelleO'Neill, agus an LeasChéad-Aire, Emma Little-Pengelly, fáilte roimh an fhógra, agus dúirt Uachtarán nua Chonradh na Gaeilge, Ciarán Mac Giolla Bhéin, gurb é ceapadh an Choimisinéara Gaeilge an “fhoráil is lárnaí san Acht Gaeilge nua”. Is é an ról an bheidh ag an Choimisinéir Teanga ná na caighdeáin teanga a leagan amach do chomhlachtaí poiblí agus iniúchadh a dhéanamh ar ghearáin sa chás go ndéanfadh na comhlachtaí poiblí faillí ina ndualgais teanga.*Léirithe ag Conradh na Gaeilge i Londain. Driving the latest fifth generation Hyundai Sante Fe hybrid seven-seat SUV – atotally different SUV to its predecessor – firstly in appearance and on firstimpression its very much in the mould of a Land Rover, somewhat square edgedwith a stronger presence and more interior room. This last aspect with anenlarged tailgate gives it a rather tail happy appearance which drew somenegativity. As a family mover it offers generous interior room with ten airbagsover three seat rows and increased cargo space. Available initially as a 1.6-litreturbo-petrol hybrid six-speed automatic, three grades, Base, Elite and Calligraphyand depending on model, front or all-wheel-drive. I drove the well specified Eliteall-wheel drive now $2,000 dearer at $65,000 plus on-road costs. The hybridpower train impressive, offering three levels of regenerative braking, and there’sa number of drive modes available including terrain modes like snow, mud andsand. The dash most impressive with a combined information display andinstrument cluster that’s first class. The cabin ambience most impressive. There’s a big lift in technology, Hyundai adding over the air software capability tokeep you up with driver assist systems remotely without the need to visit adealer. Driving Hyundai’s latest Sante Fe Hybrid – behind the wheel noticeably larger toits predecessor, now squarer edged, a very roomy seven-seater with exceptionalcargo space but if anything it looks a little tail heavy due to an enlarged tailgate. This latest Hyundai Sante Fe initially available as a 1.6-litre turbo petrol hybrid sixspeed automatic in a base model, mid-spec Elite and top-grade Calligraphy - anddepending on model, front or all-wheel drive. A 2.5-litre pure petrol 8-speedautomatic arrives late this year. I tested the Elite all-wheel drive, now $2,000dearer at $65,000 plus on-road costs. The hybrid power trains 172kW of power,367Nm of torque more than adequate – providing excellent fuel economy – Imanaged 7.7L./100km around town and on 91 grade petrol. Economy aided bythree levels of regenerative braking and in its highest level you hardly need totouch the brakes. Biggest annoyance the speed limit warning and driver attentionmonitor – both features need more development and refinement and are just plainannoying and of no real driver benefit. They can be switched off but every timeyou start the car they renew. Like a lot of the new Chinese SUV’s these warningchimes are distractive, and a turn off to most drivers. Marsha Scarbrough worked in Hollywood for 20 years as an Assistant Director on major feature films and prime-time television shows. In 2006, she retired and moved to Sante Fe, New Mexico, a place she thought would be her “forever home.” In Sante Fe, she used her small nest egg to purchase two houses as investments. Unfortunately the Great Recession of 2007-2009 rendered her real estate near worthless. By 2010, she was bankrupt, in foreclosure, and owed money to a friend. Marsha believed she could not live comfortably in the U.S. but might be able to do it overseas. She desired a large European city but didn't think it was affordable. A visit to a friend in Madrid, Spain changed her mind. She soon learned that life on a budget in Madrid was possible. In 2017, at the age of 70, Marsha left Santa Fe for Madrid and hasn't looked back. I have this imaginary story of what a composer does all day - and it's based on Mozart and Beethoven biopics and a sort of La Boheme-ish romantic image of starving artists. In this generous interview, Eric Malmquist takes us behind the scenes of a recent commission and offers great tips for anyone wanting to work in our business!  Eric Malmquist (b. 1985) writes earnestly heartfelt and engaging music. He draws on a deep love of early music and modern influences to produce works that are focused and emotional.   He has been commissioned and performed by the Collaborative Arts Institute of Chicago, Baroque on Beaver Island, Chicago Composers Orchestra, the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, tubist Scott Tegge, historical keyboardist Charles Metz, historical flutist Leighann Daihl Ragusa, Chatter, Constellation Men's Ensemble, the International Chamber Artists, the Newberry Consort and the Wicker Park Choral Singers. Recent performances include City Music with the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras Accelerando Strings; Open, Clear & Free, a 25-minute men's choir cycle on parks for Constellation Men's Ensemble; A History of Fatherhood in Sante Fe and Albuquerque with Chatter; and a concerto grosso for Baroque on Beaver Island entitled Great Lake Music.  His music has been performed across the US and has been featured repeatedly on 98.7WFMT. Recordings of his music are on sale: “Music in Bloom” featuring period instruments, on the disc “New Song” and by pianist Jonathan Hannau. It' in the sign of Virgo as we are in Virgo season. Virgo energy is ruled by Earth, and Virgo season ushers in a period of transition as we move from summer to fall and feel our energy settle and refine. This period gives us a foundation to rest upon as we process the events of the past and future. It allows us to organize our lives after the chaotic burst of energy Leo Season often brings. Virgo Season brings us an opportunity to show up as that person and realize our inherent self-worth. It is a time to let go of self-doubt, perfectionism, and self-criticism as we step into our potential in this lifetime. Virgo's energy helps us embrace our authentic self realized in Leo Season while accepting it with compassion, forgiveness, and strength. As we journey through Virgo Season, become aware of the conditions you place on yourself for love and acceptance. What impossible level of perfectionism are you holding yourself to and why? We often feel that we have to be perfect to receive love and be worthy. Over this season, began to teach yourself that you are worthy of love, acceptance, and fulfilled dreams just as you are right now.   This New Moon sets your intentions by embracing all aspects of yourself this season. Purge your consciousness of unworthiness at the beginning of Virgo Season by making a list of all the reasons why you don't believe you deserve love, belonging, acceptance, or fulfilled dreams. Write unrestricted and break free of the bonds of shame that keep you tied to a life of self-doubt. What don't you feel you are good enough for? What in your past or present is preventing you from owning your magic and declaring your worth to the Universe? Come join us at Ritual + Shelter for a new Moon Light labyight meditation.. Get out of your mind and ground your soul in your heart so taht you can cocreate with source the path you choice.  The event is on Tuesday, Sept 3rd. Register at RS   It is so important to let go of that need to be perfect. It's draining you of your energy.  As is  people pleasing? Are you  saying yes when you mean no? Are boundaries lacking in your life?   These are all energy drains… The dark side of Energy Drains.  What is your evil archetype?  Take the quiz and find out. I'll drop the link in the show notes.   I can help you to Monetize your Energy, with spiritual tools, to rewire your brain with neuroscience techniques so that you can create healthy energy boundaries to monetize your energy.   AS a Spirtual mentor not only will I teach you these tools to use for yourself, but also I will hold you accountable to using them and showing up stronger in your energy. Let's talk about how I can guide you into building your practice, help you move through difficulties in life, transitions, and find the love for your soul that will inspire you.   All the Links will be in the show notes.   In today's episode, I am finally getting a chance to talk about my trip to Sante Fe.  When I got back, I had a loss with a dear friend's death, and everything stopped.  I didn't get a chance to talk about my trip and all that I experienced. I went out there for two reasons, one was to visit a retreat facility.. hint hint .. MAster retreat in 2025. And the other reason was to expeience the Native American Corn Dance.  My quest is Kate Jenkins who invited me out there.   There is so much to say about Kate.. but before we begin let's take a moment to pause and center and set an internion for this new moon energy coming in.   Kate Herrera Jenkins (Shu-wah-mitz) is an active member of the Pueblo of Cochiti in New Mexico. Today, Debbie talks with Kirsten Powers, a New York Times bestselling author, a liberal columnist and, most recently, an on-air political analyst with CNN. In 2023, after almost two decades, she left what she calls the “media circus” to pursue a different life as a writer and a life coach. Kirsten, who is 56, is [b]old by any definition.Prior to CNN she was at Fox (as a liberal voice) and before that she was a columnist for USA Today, The Daily Beast, American Prospect Online, and the New York Post. Her recent bestselling book is Saving Grace: Speak Your Truth, Stay Centered, and Learn to Coexist with People Who Drive You Nuts.Currently Kirsten writes a very popular newsletter on Substack, called, appropriately, "Changing the Channel." It's about living authentically, unlearning societal conditioning, and how to actually change your life. She published an essay recently about her plan to move to Italy with her husband because, as she put it, the U.S. is unlivable, with school shootings, the frenetic pace of life and because it's too expensive. Somehow we are societally conditioned to accept this, as if it's normal. But it's not, Kirsten emphasizes. The post went viral, hitting a nerve with her many readers. Now she's working on a book proposal. Since leaving her on-air job, Kirsten has been deliberately pursuing what she calls a "more easeful life" that is less striving and less accomplishment-oriented. It includes writing on Substack, which she loves. In this episode she also talks about her transition from evangelical christian to atheist. Kirsten is fast thinking and provocative and Debbie loved this conversation with her. //////////Don't miss the Behind The Scenes for every episode in Debbie's [B]OLD AGE newsletter.//////////  Mentioned in this episode or useful:Kirsten Powers - Wikipediakirstenpowers.comChanging the Channel : Kirsten's Substack newsletterThe way we live in the United States is not normal: Kirsten's viral Substack post about moving to Italy  (Nov. 29, 2023)Saving Grace: Speak Your Truth, Stay Centered, and Learn to Coexist with People Who Drive You Nuts by Kirsten Powers (Convergent Books; Nov. 2021)Kirsten Powers: A liberal working for Fox News (Washington Post, June 17, 2015)What are the Nine Enneagram Types?CP Enneagram where Kirsten is studying for an Enneagram certificate.Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®)Jonathan Merritt on Personal Transformation and the Complicated Intersection of Faith and Culture:  Season 5, Episode 19 of the podcast.Behind the Scenes with Jonathan Merritt  by Debbie Weil (Substack, July 7, 2023)My Complicated Feelings About Tim Keller by Kirsten Powers (Substack, May 24, 2023)MEA: the midlife wisdom school  in Baja, MX and Sante Fe, NM where Debbie and Kirsten met. Connect with Debbie:debbieweil.com[B]OLD AGE podcast[B]OLD AGE newsletter on SubstackGap Year After Sixty Debbie Weil and husband Sam Harrington's joint blog Our Media Partners:CoGenerate (formerly Encore.org)MEA and with thanks to Chip ConleyNext For Me (former media partner and in memory of Jeff Tidwell) How to Support this podcast:Leave a review on Apple PodcastsSubscribe via Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Stitcher or Spotify Credits:Host: Debbie WeilProducer: Far Out MediaMusic: Lakeside Path by Duck Lake

Late November, 2023 -- John C. Wester -- Archbishop of Sante Fe -- spoke at the Church of Our Savior at E. 38th Street and Park Avenue. About 200 were gathered to honor the 43rd anniversary of the death of Dorothy Day – and – to consider the abolition of nuclear weapons. At the United Nations that week the countries that signed the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons were meeting. The United States was not one of them. The day after Archbishop Wester spoke – I met with two people who have dedicated their lives to peace in our world -- Brian Terrell and granddaughter of Dorothy Day – Martha Hennessy. Both had been on BCR – Martha in connection with her KingsbayPlowshares 7 protest at the Trident Nuclear Submarine Base in Georgia for which she was incarcerated in a Federal Prison for over a year. And, I first met Brian Terrell in covering the Witness Against Torture protests in Washington D.C. of the continued U.S. detention of dozens of Muslim men in Guantanamo. And I have talked to Brian many times since about his work to prevent a nuclear catastrophe. When he is not protesting and getting arrested, Brian runs a goat farm in Malloy, Iowa.Alan Winson Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Canaan Found – O. Michael Duty How many of you enjoy fictional books from time to time? I know I do. I am an avid reader, usually reading between 20-25 books every year. I also spend a lot of time in research. But every now and then, I need to take a break doing research and just enjoy picking up something that changes the pace for me a little bit. It allows me to get refreshed, but, at the same time, continue to learn. Amen! Our guest today allows you to do just that! Oliver Michael Duty, professionally, has been an architect for over 40 years, practicing in the Sante Fe, NM area. But he has since moved to the south and now resides in Greenville, SC. He now devotes his time to writing and finding ways to affirm and share God's presence in his life. He is also an author of a couple of books, “Egg Crate Beginnings,” published in 2017, and his most recent book, “Canaan Found,” published in 2023 and the subject of our discussion today! Amen! Help me welcome to the program, Oliver Michael Duty.  Michael, it is such a blessing to have you with us today to discuss this great book, “Canaan Found.”  I do appreciate your time! First question I always start with is this. Other than that brief information I just shared, can you tell us in your own words, “Who is O. Michael Duty?” “Canaan Found” is a fictional story, but the premise, if I understand it correctly, is to explore the presence of God in our daily lives. How do you accomplish this in your book, “Canaan Found?” Let me get this straight… the main character is returning home to inherit the family farm. But receiving the inheritance is contingent on him investigating and discovering the truth of a murder of a deputy sheriff that occurred.  Did the murder occur on the farm? I don't want to you to give away the story line, but I take it the police investigation never produced information on who committed the murder to begin with, right? So, he is searching for the truth. Is this somehow related to how each of us must also search for “Truth” as it relates to our relationship with God? The story causes us to reflect on the presence of God in our own lives, correct? You shared that you use a lot of humor to help the reader pause and reflect on our own lives and how we interact with others. How are some of the ways you interject humor into a murder investigation? Is your purpose to help the reader to somehow see themselves in the story? You mentioned a possible sequel, that you have not made a decision on. Either way, “what's next?” Michael, this is so interesting. How can someone obtain a copy of your book, “Canaan Found?” Is it on Amazon? If someone wanted to reach out to you, to ask a question or possibly do an interview such as this. How can they do that? How can someone get in touch with you? I'll put links to all of this in the show notes below. Folks, I love to read fiction from time to time. It just allows us to “take a break” from reality. But when you read some great fiction that helps you to contemplate your relationship with God… then it becomes something...

Michele is originally an East Coast girl, born in 1959 in Reading, PA, she spent her childhood growing up in the countryside. She was, she says, a tomboy enjoying the outdoors, but her real passion began as a small child drawing and painting, showing an early talent that was recognized by her teachers. Her parents, Sam and Fay, encouraged her artistic leaning and as the third of three children she was encouraged with art classes and given the freedom to follow her passion. At the tender age of eight, Michele decided she loved art so much that she wanted to become an artist. From 1977-1981 she attended Kutztown University in Pennsylvania from where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Communication Design, and Minor in Illustration/Painting. While she only took one class in mechanical drawing it was to prove invaluable in learning perspective, which has helped her with painting buildings. As a graphic designer, Michele made her way to New York but it wasn't long before she realized she wanted to be her own boss. While marriage and raising a family would take over her life, once she divorced she discovered a freedom to pursue her career as an artist. I was forced to sew police and army uniforms in a Russian jail. I turned what I learned in my labor camp against those who locked me up. Putin is a danger to the whole world, and he has to be stopped immediately." Nadya Tolokonnikova.CONTAINER Turner Carroll is bringing Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs "wanted list" Pussy Riot member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova to Santa Fe. The exhibition Putin's Ashes will transform CONTAINER into a kind of war zone. Pussy Riot's Putin's Ashes was initiated in August 2022, when Pussy Riot burned a 10 x 10 foot portrait of the Russian president, performed rituals, and cast spells aimed to chase Putin away. Twelve women participated in the performance. In order to join, women were required to experience acute hatred and resentment toward the Russian president. Most of the participants were either Ukrainian, Belarusian, or Russian. Nadya Tolokonnikova bottled the ashes of the burnt portrait and incorporated them into her objects that are being presented alongside her short art film Putin's Ashes, directed, edited, and scored by Tolokonnikova and co-produced John Caldwell.Follow Nadya and Pussy Riot on Instagram: @NadyaRiot and @PussyRiotView the exhibition (click here)Follow @Container_TurnerCarrollRead Nadya's book: Read and Riot: A Pussy Riot Guide To ActivismVisit the official websites: https://pussyriot.love/ https://unicorndao.com/https://zona.media/ - Pussy Riot-founded, independent news outlet. Cowboy Bootmaking Legend Lisa Sorrell on Myths, Lore, and Why Craft Has Never Been More Important

Guthrie, Oklahoma-based Lisa Sorrell can trace her own bootmaking ancestry back to one of the first cowboy bootmakers ever: Gus Blucher (a man quite aptly named for a shoe). Gus presumably would've been quite proud, as for the last three decades Lisa has oh so gracefully maintained a position of remarkably high esteem in the cowboy bootmaking pantheon, thanks to her overall skill and coveted inlay/overlay work that commands a starting price of $10,000 per bespoke pair.  In what is without question one of our personal favorite episodes ever, Lisa dispels a stack of cowboy boot myths; gets deep into why the form and construction of the uniquely American art form evolved in the ways they did; discusses what makes 1940s cowboy boot lasts the unmatched pinnacle; and explains why she's the “ambassador for raising prices” (it's almost certainly not why you'd think) and why cowboy boots are a whole lot like lingerie. That's right it's time for another SHOEBAG episode, in which Ben and Ticho dig precariously deep into such pivotal topics as: what is an overdyed leather and how is it the same or different from teacore? What's the deal with that eyelet at the top of the speed hooks? Which outsoles make for the best toe spring? Chelsea boots with suits: yay or nay? Where are we at on balmoral boots? What's the story with those floppy-topped boots Gaston wears, and why isn't anyone rocking them today? And are horsebutt boots underrated or (gasp)...overrated?? 1878 - Sante Fe, New Mexico - Rising 22 feet (or 6.1 meters) into the air in Loretto Chapel is what many consider to be an actual miracle. It is made out of wood that so far has been identified as a relative of a tree found in Alaska, sorta but otherwise not much luck on where it came from. It's freestanding with no center support. Also, nobody knows how it was built then or now. We never got to ask because the single, solitary, carpenter that built this did it in complete privacy and vanished the morning it was found constructed in the chapel. He never said his name but was the answer to the nuns novena.  Join Tom, Ben, and special guest Lakkin as we discuss the Loretto Chapel staircase.  This episode is sponsored by Eko Health.  Learn more about their digital stethoscopes at www.ekohealth.com and use code JSP for $50 off your order.   This episode is sponsored by CBD Stat.  Learn more about their high quality, THC free CBD oil.  They offer a 40% discount for healthcare workers at www.cbdstat.care/healthcare and for our listeners that aren't in healthcare you can use code JSP20 at checkout for 20% off your order.  www.cbdstat.care Will Continue To Monitor Social Media Facebook – www.facebook.com/WCTMpodcast Instagram – www.instagram.com/wctmpodcast Twitter – www.twitter.com/wctmpodcast

In 2014, Taft Clothing was selling camouflage and polka-dot no-show socks. One fateful Reddit moment later, Kory Stevens was somehow overseeing a shoe and boot brand that was absolutely on fire—and designing some of the most unique footwear you'll ever see. 9 years later, we had Kory on the Shoecast to tell the honestly captivating tale of how Taft came storming in through the footwear world's backdoor, the gap between what he personally loves vs what sells best, Taft's new stitchdown construction service and Chelsea boots that are the by far the sturdiest product the brand has ever put out, and why Kory knows he's not going to spend the rest of his career in footwear. On top of it all, Kory is just one heckuva guy—this one is about as heartfelt as shoe conversations get. __________________________________________________________________________________________This episode was sponsored by Standard & Strange, which has taken all of the finest Japanese boots and brought them to Oakland, NYC, and Sante Fe, just for youTheme Song: The Road by Punk Rock Opera
