In this episode of Vegan Boss Radio, I'm joined by Sandra Nomoto — a book whisperer for authors with impact, a passionate vegan hype woman, and someone who's been amplifying plant-based voices for years. She spent a decade running Conscious Public Relations Inc., one of the first B Corp–certified PR firms in Canada, and she's the author of Vegan Marketing Success Stories — the first vegan marketing book in the world. Sandra's spoken at events like TELUS, Main Street Vegan Academy, Planted Expo, and the Vancouver Vegan Festival, sharing stages with incredible changemakers like Genesis Butler, Chuck Carroll, and Dr. Michael Greger. She also co-hosts VEG Networking Canada — the country's only vegan networking group. In this episode, we talk about vegan marketing and practical ways to promote your vegan business — no matter your size or budget — all while staying aligned with your values. Food is Climate: A Response to Al Gore, Bill Gates, Paul Hawken, & The Conventional Narrative on Climate Change The conventional narrative on climate change ignores the science, which is more accessible than you'd think. It comes down to common sense. Climate change is the result of the accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. If all we do is slow down the rate at which the planet is heating, we are still cooked - we need to reverse atmospheric heating. Solar panels do not sequester carbon dioxide. Trees do. Sea plants do. We need to protect the oceans and to reforest as much of the world as we can. Victoria Moran, Author and Founder & Director of Main Street Vegan Academy, is evidence that the practices of yoga and veganism sustain the light inside you. At the age of 73, she has more energy than most of her generation (and younger generations as well), which is why she's advocated for both practices since the 70s.She became a yogi and vegan when those words weren't commonly used and has lived through many changes since then. In this episode of Redefining Movement, Victoria talks about veganism and yoga, why you might want to consider it, and how she's handled situations with people who remain skeptical about them. You will learn the following:The key to aging is caring not just for your physical health but also for your attitude and mental health. Becoming vegan is easier when you have a support system. Everyone believes in different things, so it's important to practice empathy.Guest Resources:LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/victoriamoranauthor/Website - https://victoriamoran.comPodcast - https://mainstreetvegan.com/category/podcast/Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/VictoriaMoranauthorConnect with Lara Heimann, The Redefining Movement Podcast, and LYT Daily:Lara's on Instagram - @Lara.HeimannRedefining Movement Podcast on Instagram - @RedefiningMovementPodcastLYT Method on Instagram - @LYTMethodToday's podcast sponsor:LYT Method - Sign up to your LYT Method trial Herbal Face Food - Use code Lara20 for 20% off Hosted on Acast. Welcome back to another episode of the Plant Based News podcast. I am joined today by renowned American author, teacher, and vegan educator Camille DeAngelis, best known for her acclaimed novel "Bones and All”. Originally from New Jersey and currently based in Washington, DC, Camille considers herself a writer for all ages. Her previous work includes novels, practical philosophy, and the Moon Guide to Ireland, which she regularly updates. She is the author of two books of nonfiction: Life Without Envy: Ego Management for Creative People and A Bright Clean Mind: Veganism for Creative Transformation. Her best known work to date – the award-winning novel “Bones and All” – was first published in 2015 and was recently turned into a film, starring Timothee Chalamet, which premiered in 2022. The novel tells the story of a young woman named Maren, who is plagued by a compulsion to eat the bones of the people she loves. The book explores themes of love, obsession, and the nature of family, as the protagonist sets out on a journey to understand her condition and find a way to live with it. After being a longtime vegetarian, Camille became vegan in 2011. She pursued her interest in the vegan movement further and in 2013 became a certified vegan lifestyle coach and educator through Victoria Moran's Main Street Vegan Academy. The PBN Podcast is hosted and produced by Robbie Lockie, edited by Phil Marriott and researched and scripted by Antonia Georgieva. Dianne Waltner grew up in rural Kansas where her Mennonite family ran a poultry hatchery. An introverted, highly sensitive child who was bullied and ostracized at her small school, Dianne always felt a sense of solidarity with the underdog, which ultimately led her to challenge the paradigm she was raised in. Her journey through cognitive dissonance, feelings of loss & rejection, depression, self-medication with alcohol, and her ultimate redemption is told in her book, Evolving Into Wholeness – A Journey of Compassion. Through her self-discovery and its unavoidable companions, pain, courage and dark nights of the soul, Dianne ultimately chose to align her life with her deeply held values of compassion for all. Dianne is an ordained Animal Chaplain and Main Street Vegan Academy certified Master Vegan Lifestyle Coach and Educator (MVLCE). These are some of the many things we talk about in this episode: • How quickly humans become desensitized to the suffering in the world • The spiritual path is about becoming ourselves not the living out the patterning of our parents and culture • What is cognitive dissonance • The compassionate nature of our inner child • The struggle associated with breaking away from family norms (especially if you are loved) • Self-care/love versus will power is at the root of quitting unhealthy habits • Connection to all life supports loving the self • Changing habits like diet or drinking isn't about giving up, it's about gaining • The Animal Chaplaincy program - what the program is about and what people are doing with it (starts around 35 minutes) Websites: https://diannewaltner.com/ & https://evolvingintowholeness.com/ Memoir: www.amazon.com/Evolving-into-Who…ion/dp/B08WZMB9CL Email: dwaltner@icloud.com Animal Chaplaincy Program: www.compassionconsortium.org/training Main Street Vegan Academy: https://mainstreetvegan.com/ Books referenced in the episode: Man Kind? by Cleveland Emory www.amazon.com/Kind-Incredible-W…eld/dp/0060100923 America's Last Wild Horses by Hope Ryden https://www.amazon.com/Americas-Last-Wild-Horses-Ryden/dp/B001LGC4GA/ref=s © the spiritual forum 2023

Growing up in an era where being overweight was the exception rather than the norm, Victoria Moran began her battle with weight and yo-yo dieting from a very early age. Not only did she have her own issues to deal with, but her parents ran a business addressing weight issues for adults. Realizing her weight was not good for their business, Victoria tried multiple diets that literally brought her to her knees. Finding her way to the rooms of Overeaters Anonymous, she came to realize that there was a spiritual solution to her struggle with food. Fast forward to today, and Victoria is one of the most recognized names in the plant-based and vegan movement. One of her pathways to success was the Ayurvedic way of eating. The Ayurvedic diet emphasizes eating whole foods as well as mindfulness. As the founder of Main Street Vegan Academy, Victoria is more committed than ever to assist others in their journey to healthier living both personally and professionally. In this episode of the Health Science Podcast, Dr. Frank Sabatino digs deep with his long-time friend and colleague, Victoria Moran, about her journey to health, business success and being an inspiration for people around the globe. http://www.healthscience.org/podcast/014-Victoria-Moran
There are hundreds of ways to introduce Victoria, and I'm about to share so many of the incredible things she's done, but to me, she was the very first author that made me see that there was a connection between my relationship with food, my values, spirituality, ethics, that every step I took had meaning, that even my messy past with food and emotional eating could find healing, and that most of the work with my issues had to start internally, not externally. She got me started on a path that has taken me to so many places since then, all on this quest to find peace with food, while still being in connection with the meaning behind my choices and my love for animals. In today's episode we talk about her 38 years of being vegan, what she's seen, how she's stayed the course, how she found veganism back when there weren't hundreds of books and podcasts and documentaries about it. We talk about having missteps on our journeys to veganism, how imperfection is a part of the process and what we can compassionately tell ourselves to celebrate even the smallest victories. We talk about some of the reasons many people stop being vegan, and one essential piece of the puzzle that can help keep us on course. We talk about the importance of taking things a day at a time, as well as the deeper, spiritual meaning behind our food choices. I ask Victoria a question I've been wanting to ask her for years about religion and spirituality. We discuss her passion for and practice of yoga, and why it's so important, when practicing a philosophy that stems from another culture, to honour and incorporate its many teachings, and what is TRULY going to stay with us throughout our lives (spoiler alert, it ain't that headstand!). Victoria talks about all the exciting projects she's got coming up including the incredible documentary she helped produce “A Prayer for Compassion”, her incredible Mainstreet Vegan Academy where they prepare and certify vegan lifestyle coaches and educators, her upcoming and newly revamped podcast The Victoria Moran Podcast and much more. Listed by VegNews among the “Top 10 Living Vegetarian Authors,” Victoria Moran has written thirteen books including Main Street Vegan and Creating a Charmed Life, and was featured twice on Oprah. She is the founder and director of Main Street Vegan Academy, training and certifying Vegan Lifestyle Coaches and Educators since 2012; and she was lead producer of the 2019 documentary, A Prayer for Compassion, about food choices and spirituality. Victoria is one of the cofounders of the Compassion Consortium, an Interfaith, inter-species spiritual center for people who care about animals. After 475 episodes of the Main Street Vegan Podcast, she is about to launch the Victoria Moran Podcast, an exploration of vitality, spirituality, and compassion. You can contact Laura at https://talkingtolaura.com/ Hi, I'm Laura Armitage, and I'm 76 years old. I'm a devoted follower of Chef AJ and John Pierre's Ultimate Weight Loss Program. I became vegan on Independence Day, July 4th, 1994, in my late 40's. I followed, to the best of my ability, the Whole-Food Plant-Based teachings of Dr John McDougall. Following The McDougall Program from 1994 until 2016 (22 years), I lost some of the weight that I needed to lose. Dr. McDougall's Maximum Weight Loss Book came out in 1994, but, for some reason, I kept following his original plan, which works well for most people. I became healthier, but was still obese. As soon as I joined Chef AJ and John Pierre's program, at age seventy, I quickly learned about caloric density, food addiction, and abstinence. In addition to that knowledge, I needed one on one coaching, which worked perfectly for me. My coach was John Pierre, and I somehow really needed that accountability. I gave away my scale, and have followed their program ever since. I effortlessly lost about eighty pounds, and have lost about a hundred pounds from my highest weight. My training and personal experience, have lead me to coaching others who wish to follow this lifestyle. I have completed the T. Colin Campbell Certificate Program in Plant-Based Nutrition at eCornell (December 2009), and also both the Certified Lifestyle Coach and Education Program at Main Street Vegan Academy (November 2017), and the Master Coach Program at Main Street Vegan Academy (August 2018). I offer one on one coaching to others who need the help that I needed. My website is https://talkingtolaura.com/. Please contact me through my website if you are interested. I'm happy to do one session, or as many as you feel would be helpful. It was my desire to lose weight that led me to this way of eating and living, but there are so many amazing benefits! I'm actually glad that I was so heavy, because I never would have found this wonderful way of eating and living. I feel wonderful every day! Hi, I'm Laura Armitage, a whole-food, plant-based lifestyle coach and educator. I have been vegan since July 4th, 1994. My website is https://talkingtolaura.com/. I completed the T Colin Campbell Certificate Program in Plant-Based Nutrition at eCornell, and also both the Certified Lifestyle Coach and Educator Program at Main Street Vegan Academy and the Master Coach Program at Main Street Vegan Academy. My greatest knowledge and experience, though, came from trying, unsuccessfully, to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. I tried for over twenty years, and was vegan all of that time, and was attempting to be a whole-food plant-based eater! My success finally came at age seventy, while working with Chef AJ and John Pierre in their Ultimate Weight Loss Program. I have a passion for one on one coaching, because I feel that my success would not have been possible without the coaching that I did with John Pierre. Finally, I was able to overcome food addictions and to complete a one hundred pound weight loss. Now, at age seventy six, I am able to fully enjoy family, fitness, and feeling fabulous! Chef AJ knows that I am forever grateful to her for my amazing life and health. I love coaching, but don't maintain a social media presence. Most of my clients come from interviews that I have done on YouTube with Chef AJ and with Tom and Tami Kramer of Nutmeg Notebook. So once again, I am thankful to Chef AJ! What should we do when science and spirituality conflict? Should we follow our intuition on what and how to eat, or should we only make evidence-based food choices? And can we truly make evidence based food choices when the science often seems to be contradictory or constantly changing? In today's episode I speak with best selling author and inspirational speaker Victoria Moran, about how she navigates making healthy and ethical food choices as both a spiritual yogi and ethical vegan. Victoria is the bestselling author of thirteen books, including Creating a Charmed Life, The Love-Powered Diet, and the iconic Main Street Vegan. She is also a holistic health counselor, the founder and director of Main Street Vegan Academy, a podcast host, and film producer. Vegan Marketing Success Stories is taking the vegan business world by storm. A first of its kind, Vegan Marketing Success Stories highlights the marketing tactics of many of today's most successful vegan businesses. With 47 contributors and dozens of other vegan companies mentioned as examples, the non-fiction book shares how on- and off-line tactics contribute to a cohesive strategy and topical issues that few marketing books are talking about: the importance of diversity and inclusion, what vegan businesses did to weather the pandemic, and how some have transitioned to becoming vegan. “In 2021, I researched whether there was a book about marketing for the vegan industry. When I discovered one didn't exist, I knew I had to publish it,” says Nomoto, a vegan content writer and editor since 2020 who operates as The Content Doctor. She continues: “This book would not have been possible without the stories of the 47 contributors and other vegan companies around the world.” Contributors include executives of Benji Vegan Gourmet, Blue Tribe, Goddess Garden, Immaculate Vegan, Remeant, Vegan Business Tribe, Vegans, Baby, Vegan Supply, and We Animals Media. Other companies and individuals featured in Vegan Marketing Success Stories include Alpha Foods, Alpro, Atlas Monroe, Bad Manners, Heather Landex, Kathleen Gage of Vegan Visibility, Mid-Day Squares, NutritionFacts.org, Switch4Good, The Body Shop, THIS, and VFC. The book is endorsed by Victoria Moran, Chief Compassion Officer of Main Street Vegan Academy, Erik Amundson, Co-Founder of Vevolution, Claire Smith, vegan entrepreneur and impact investor at Beyond Investing, Katrina Fox, Founder of Vegan Business Media and author of Vegan Ventures, and Stephanie Redcross West, Managing Director of Vegan Mainstream, among others. http://www.veganvisibility.com/SandraNomoto

What constitutes a “vegan legend”? Let's start with almost 40 years of veganism, being listed by VegNews among the “Top 10 Living Vegetarian Authors', establishing the Main Street Vegan Academy…and more. Meet Victoria Moran. Victoria first joined me on the podcast for episode 46, and this is our second discussion. We talk about the Main Street Vegan Academy training and certification program [where she is Founder/Director], healthy aging, leaving a lasting legacy, and the intersection of compassion with both faith and spirituality.
