Review: Kyle R from Iowa Show Review5 Squares. Since my last text that started with “Dear WLS” was read as a show review I feel obligated to do one. This show is like the trucks you see pulling into your favorite KOA. Jeremy is already there setup with his mobile command trailer on his one ton diesel crew cab. Pretty sure he only got neutered because one more kid would put him in a Class A, and those would be tough to mount a belt feed on. Shawn is there with his 1/2 ton meticulously packed for efficiency. He just can't figure out why it rides like shit. It's because his 3,000 pounds of gear has it sitting on the bump stops. Nick has a hammock strung between his old school Ranger and Shawn's truck. Light, nimble, practical, and an overall durable rear end if you excuse the occasional leaks. Aaron has a Subaru Brat. Not American, not a truck, not a car, not a great camping choice, but he would die on that hill arguing all sides. In fact, I believe he forgot to ask for a jump start 6 months ago before everyone else left and is still there to this day. Savage is there in a Honda Ridgeline arguing that technically it's a truck. Nobody wants to admit he's American because we all know his loyalty belongs to somewhere on the Asian continent. Kyle R Review: Dustin from NC Dustin From NCLove the show fellas. Possibly because of the constant marketing but l have thought of the cast like Toy Story characters multiple times lately. Jeremy reminds me of Woody. Instead of saying ‘There's a snake in my boots!' when his string gets pulled it is phrases like RIVERS OF BLOOD, Pittance, Uptown Gentleman, and misc swearing. Savage is like a Speak and Spell that got dropped in the toilet so it malfunctions while reading the news stories in verbatim. Nick is Mr. Potato Head. Because he dumps everything out the rear hatch multiple times an episode. Shawn is the Barbie doll legs attached to the fishing pole because he manages to reel the cast in from segment to segment and is horrible to look at. All ribbing aside, I appreciate the time and effort put into the segments and throughly enjoy the show each week. AGENCY BRIEF: STREET SWEEPER / USAS-12 DESTRUCTIVE DEVICE RECLASSIFICATIONWhat this really was: In 1994, ATF took lawfully owned shotguns and shoved them into the NFA “destructive device” category. No vote in Congress. No new statute. Just an agency ruling that turned specific 12-gauge shotguns into the same legal category as grenades. The targets were the Striker-12, the Street Sweeper, and the USAS-12. The Striker and Street Sweeper used revolving cylinders. The USAS-12 was a semi-auto, magazine-fed shotgun. They all fired ordinary 12-gauge shells, the same kind of ammunition people put through hunting pumps all over the country. The legal hook was buried in the National Firearms Act, specifically 26 U.S.C. § 5845(f). That section says a weapon with a bore over one-half inch can be treated as a destructive device unless the government decides it is “generally recognized as particularly suitable for sporting purposes.” A 12-gauge shotgun has a bore of about .73 inches. So every 12-gauge in America avoids the NFA only because ATF treats it as sporting enough. That is the trapdoor. In 1994, during the Clinton administration, ATF issued Rulings 94-1 and 94-2. The agency said these shotguns had no recognized sporting purpose, pointing to their weight, capacity, and military-style features. Once ATF withdrew that exemption, the guns became destructive devices. The pattern was simple: Start with a broad statute and an elastic test like “sporting purposes.” Use subjective factors, including appearance, to pull back prior approval. Reclassify the guns by agency ruling. Open a short amnesty period for tax-free registration. Turn missed paperwork into felony exposure. Confirmed fact: ATF used the sporting purposes clause to reclassify these firearms and require NFA registration without Congress passing a new law. What is less clear is how many legacy owners actually got notice before the amnesty window closed. But the legal threat was real, and the policy result stuck....

On June 3, 2026, Lynchburg Circuit Court Judge Patrick Yeatts denied the Virginia State Police and Attorney General's motion to dissolve his October 2025 permanent injunction. The injunction struck down Virginia's universal background check requirement for private firearm sales (originally enacted in 2020 and codified at Va. The ruling came after the legislature passed and Gov. Abigail Spanberger signed HB 1525 in April 2026 with an emergency clause directing VSP to resume checks; plaintiffs including Gun Owners of America, Virginia Citizens Defense League, and individuals filed to enforce the existing injunction. DeBorba, a bad-facts illegal alien gun case that may hurt future suppressor challenges. The Ninth Circuit affirmed João Ricardo DeBorba's convictions for unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition, and an unregistered silencer under the National Firearms Act (NFA). The court held that silencers/suppressors are optional accessories or ‘accoutrements' rather than ‘arms' covered by the plain text of the Second Amendment, citing prior precedent such as Duncan v. Bonta. It further ruled the NFA's shall-issue registration and taxation regime is constitutional as DeBorba failed to show abusive enforcement. The National Rifle Association filed a lawsuit against the NRA Foundation, asserting ownership of intellectual property and alleging the foundation's leadership is operating in bad faith and withholding funds. NRA CEO Doug Hamlin stated the foundation has declined to approve 2026 grant funding, jeopardizing programs like the NRA National Firearms Museum and Eddie Eagle GunSafe program. On January 5, 2026, the National Rifle Association filed suit in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia against its affiliated charitable arm, the NRA Foundation. The complaint asserts NRA ownership of trademarks and intellectual property used by the Foundation, alleges the Foundation's leadership (described as a disgruntled faction of former NRA directors) is operating in bad faith, misleading donors, withholding or misappropriating funds intended for NRA charitable programs, and attempting to break away. The suit seeks to prevent trademark infringement, unfair competition, and separation from the NRA. REVIEWS by Listener What's frustrating you most in gun culture right now? AGENCY BRIEF: RUBY RIDGEWhat Ruby Ridge really was: a federal pressure campaign over a minor, technical gun charge that turned into a botched siege, unconstitutional rules of engagement, and the killing of a mother and her child. The setup started in 1989. The ATF wanted an informant inside Aryan Nations circles in northern Idaho. They targeted Randy Weaver, an Army veteran living off-grid with his family. Weaver had racist beliefs and associations, but constitutional limits matter most when the person in the government's sights is unpopular. The ATF used an informant to cultivate Weaver and buy two shotguns. The agency claimed the barrels were cut a fraction of an inch below the 18-inch legal minimum. Whether Weaver cut them at the informant's request or sold them as-is is heavily disputed. What is confirmed is what happened next: the ATF did not arrest him to protect the public. They used the federal firearms charge as leverage to pressure Weaver into becoming a paid snitch. Weaver refused. Because he refused, the ATF pushed the case to prosecutors, and Weaver was indicted in late 1990. Then came the bureaucratic failure. Weaver's court-appointed attorney was sent a notice with the wrong appearance date, and Weaver missed his hearing. Instead of resolving a government paperwork error cleanly, the system escalated. The U.S. Marshals launched an 18-month surveillance operation on his remote cabin. In August 1992, an armed reconnaissance team of Marshals encountered Weaver's 14-year-old son Sammy and family friend Kevin Harris in the woods. A firefight erupted. Exactly who fired first remains disputed, but the results are not: the family dog was killed, Sammy Weaver was shot and killed while running back toward the cabin, and Deputy U.S. Marshal William Degan was killed. The FBI's Hostage Rescue Team was called in to take over. Instead of containment, the FBI adopted modified, unconstitutional rules of engagement. In plain English, agents were told they “could and should” shoot any armed adult male seen outside the cabin. FBI sniper Lon Horiuchi fired two shots. The first wounded Randy Weaver. The second shot, fired as Weaver and Harris retreated, passed through the cabin door and hit Vicki Weaver in the head while she stood in the doorway holding her 10-month-old infant. She died instantly. The legal aftermath demolished the government's narrative: A federal jury acquitted Kevin Harris of murder on self-defense grounds. Randy Weaver was acquitted of all original firearms and murder charges, convicted only of failure to appear and a bail condition violation. A 1995 Department of Justice review found the FBI's modified rules of engagement unconstitutional. The federal government paid over $3 million in civil settlements to the surviving family. Despite Senate hearings and state-level indictments, no federal agent ever served a day in prison for the killings. 2. WHY IT MATTERS Ruby Ridge is the ultimate case study in how federal agencies use technical firearms violations to manufacture leverage, and what happens when their targets refuse to bend. This operation was never about public safety. It was about coercion. When Weaver wouldn't play ball, the agency's objective shifted from investigation to punishment, kicking off a predictable escalation ladder: Use a regulatory charge as a trap. Demand intelligence cooperation, and turn refusal into a target on the citizen's back. Treat a procedural court-date mistake as a fugitive manhunt. Deploy paramilitary recon teams for a paperwork warrant. Rewrite deadly force rules on the fly to authorize a shoot-on-sight posture. Once federal agencies invest that much time, manpower, and ego, the institutional pressure to justify the operation takes over. They stop seeing citizens with rights, and start treating them as enemy combatants on American soil. 3. THE 2A ANGLE For gun owners, Ruby Ridge is the blood-soaked warning label on every “it's just a paperwork violation” argument. The underlying charge was a National Firearms Act measurement. That is the exact kind of regulatory trap Washington loves to describe as narrow, reasonable, and harmless. But in practice, technical gun laws give agencies the legal cover to ruin lives. That is the modern lesson for FFLs navigating zero-tolerance revocations, home builders facing shifting administrative definitions, and ordinary owners one bad pistol-brace ruling away from becoming a federal case file. Apply the Supreme Court's Bruen standard to the government's actions. There is zero text, history, or tradition from the founding era of a permanent federal bureaucracy measuring the barrels of defensive weapons to coerce citizens into acting as informants, and then militarizing a warrant service when the citizen refuses. The Founders would not recognize a system that turns a man into a felon over a quarter-inch of steel. Heller proved that the Second Amendment protects an individual right. But rights on paper mean nothing if the enforcement state can use a minor regulatory allegation to justify surveillance, coercion, and deadly force. The strongest takeaway from Ruby Ridge is that when the federal government wields broad, discretionary power over firearms, abuse is not a glitch. It is the natural result. When agencies can turn a fractional barrel measurement into a capital siege, the process itself becomes the punishment. Being technically compliant doesn't protect you; it just makes you useful until you aren't anymore. GOING BALLISTIC AMMOLAND SHOOTING SPORTS NEWS(Savage) NRA, FPC, SAF v. The o”ST”-14 Groza Kit from Stuff and Things is a simplified engineering copy of the Russian OTs-14 Groza bullpup conversion, designed as a bolt-on kit for PSA Krinkov/AK-74U pattern firearms in .300 Blackout or 5.56. The reel from stuffandthingsinc announces that Grozas are shipping this week and displays kit components including the carry handle with installed rear sight, grip module with installed trigger, and linkage. It is an all-metal kit with black phosphate finish that requires no permanent modification to the host firearm (though some fitting may be needed due to AK tolerances). PROOF RESEARCH(Nick) Pxt A New Era of Rifle Barrel Technology The PXT story began around 2018, as the U.S. military pushed to extract greater performance from existing weapons platforms. That effort led PROOF into medium-caliber cannon barrel development and forced a complete reassessment of rifling profiles, twist rates, pressure, projectile behavior, and barrel… BULLET POINTS PEW REPORT Glacier National Park Grizzly Bear Attack on Anthony Pollio On or about May 3, 2026, 33-year-old Anthony Pollio was killed by a bear on the Mount Brown trail in Glacier National Park. A can of bear spray was found near the site. The article contrasts this with the 2014 Mount Brown Trail incident where Brian Murphy successfully stopped a charging grizzly using bear spray followed by one shot from a .357 Magnum revolver at 7-10 feet, after which the bear went down and stopped moving. The .357 Magnum round did not kill the bear but incapacitated it temporarily. No recorded deaths in North America when a handgun was fired in defense against a bear. PEW REPORT Arsenal Inc. Open Letter to NSSF on Virginia Assault Weapons Ban Arsenal Inc., a Nevada-based firearms manufacturer and importer (associated with K-VAR.com), published an open letter dated May 22, 2026, responding to Virginia's newly signed assault weapons and high-capacity magazine ban effective July 1, 2026. The letter frames the law as an unconstitutional restriction that creates legal uncertainty, compliance burdens, and business paralysis for citizens, manufacturers, distributors, retailers, ranges, and trainers nationwide, citing precedents in California and Washington. Arsenal Inc. announces immediate heavy discounts and prioritized shipping for Virginia customers through June 19, 2026, while calling on the NSSF and the broader firearms industry to provide coordinated legal, grassroots, and public support, treating the issue as national rather than state-specific. PEW REPORT AI Could Render the Federal Ban on Creating a Gun Registry Obsolete Article discusses a University of Wyoming Firearms Research Center working paper arguing that AI systems could create ‘registry-equivalent knowledge' by extracting, linking, and inferring firearm ownership data from ATF's existing 921 million digitized records (including Form 4473s, out-of-business dealer records, and NICS metadata containing names, addresses, and serial numbers). This would bypass the intent of 18 U.S.C. § 926(a) prohibiting any system of registration of firearms, owners, or transactions, especially as federal AI policy integrates more data. No specific firearms, accessories, or field gear are mentioned. GUN FIGHTS Play the best Price Is Right-style GunBroker game on the internet. GOING BALLISTIC BEARINGARMS.COM(Savage) Washington State Gun Control Laws Fail to Curb Crime on Seattle's Aurora Avenue Seattle residents struggle with rising crime despite Washington state's gun control laws. Washington state has enacted multiple gun control measures including waiting periods, red flag laws, universal background checks, high-capacity magazine bans, and assault weapon bans. Despite these, residents near Aurora Avenue in Seattle report uncontrolled drug dealing, prostitution, and shootings, with minimal response from city officials. Neighbors have erected reinforced barriers and posted “No Gunfire” signs while the mayor's office announced increased patrols by the Gun Violence Reduction Unit and community-led efforts; the article argues the focus on lawful gun ownership over criminal enforcement, combined with local taxes driving out FFLs, has left residents scrambling for protection and exercising Second Amendment rights. BREITBART(Savage) Indiana Police Chief Earl D. Mayo Faces Felony Charges for Allegedly Selling Guns from Evidence Room The police chief of New Chicago, Indiana, Earl D. Mayo, is facing felony charges over accusations that he sold guns from police investigations to a pawn shop. Earl D. Mayo, 45, Chief of the New Chicago, Indiana Police Department, was arrested in Clark County, Ohio and charged with seven felonies (two counts of theft, two counts of official misconduct, one count of attempted obstruction of justice, and two counts of unlawful possession of anabolic steroids) plus one misdemeanor theft count. He is accused of selling guns seized during police investigations to a pawn shop. A 47-year-old woman, Taneka Roshawn Borders, faces related charges of attempted obstruction of justice and possession of anabolic steroids for allegedly attempting to repurchase one of the guns on his behalf with $600. BEARINGARMS.COM(Savage) Virginia Governor Spanberger and AG Jay Jones Respond to Prosecutors Refusing to Enforce Assault Firearm and Large-Capacity Magazine Ban Virginia officials respond as prosecutors refuse to enforce new gun and magazine ban laws. Multiple Commonwealth's Attorneys and sheriffs across Virginia have publicly stated they will not enforce new laws banning the sale, manufacture, transfer of assault firearms and magazines over 15 rounds, plus a public carry prohibition on assault firearms, citing unconstitutionality. The measures take effect July 1. AG Jay Jones and a spokesperson for Governor Spanberger issued statements urging enforcement, emphasizing the laws were passed by the General Assembly to reduce gun violence. BEARINGARMS.COM(Savage) The Left Seems to Be Waking Up to Racist Gun Control Laws – Bearing Arms (Tom Knighton, May 26, 2026) Exploring racial bias in gun control laws and the ongoing fight for equal Second Amendment rights. This Bearing Arms opinion column discusses a Slate article by Aymann Ismail detailing his multi-year struggle to obtain a Firearm Purchaser Identification in New Jersey due to discretionary permitting practices by the Newark Police Department. The piece highlights historical racist motivations behind many early U.S. gun control measures (targeting non-whites and Catholics) and draws a through-line to modern subjective permitting systems that produce racial disparities in approval rates. It references the 1868 Camilla Massacre in Georgia as the origin of a now-invalidated ‘public gathering' carry prohibition and argues that the Supreme Court's Bruen decision properly eliminated such discretionary laws prone to abuse. GUNS.COM(Savage) Firearm Freedom Act (H.R. by Rep. Jimmy Patronis, R-FL) to Repeal Hughes Amendment The Firearm Freedom Act would eliminate the legacy Hughes Amendment that bars the purchase, ownership, and transfer of newly manufactured machine guns made after 1986. The Firearm Freedom Act, introduced by Republican Rep. Jimmy Patronis of Florida in May 2026, seeks to repeal the Hughes Amendment to the Firearm Owners' Protection Act of 1986. The Hughes Amendment prohibits the purchase, ownership, and transfer of newly manufactured machine guns made after 1986. The bill is endorsed by Gun Owners of America; no cosponsors, passage status, or court cases are mentioned in the source article. PEW REPORT GOA and GOF File Lawsuit Challenging Virginia SB749 Assault Weapons Ban and SB727 Public Carry Ban Gun Owners of America (GOA), Gun Owners Foundation (GOF), Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL), and 2A journalist John Crump filed suit against Virginia SB749 and SB727. The bills criminalize purchase and transfer of commonly-owned firearms and standard-capacity magazines while restricting public carry/self-defense; both take effect July 1. The complaint seeks declaratory judgment and injunction, arguing the measures violate the Second Amendment and Article I, Section 13 of the Virginia Constitution. PEW REPORT Nebraska Woman Injured by Shotgun Accidentally Discharged by Dog in Vehicle, Scottsbluff On Saturday in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, a woman standing at a traffic light near a convenience store was struck in the arm by a shotgun pellet after a dog in the back seat of a nearby truck triggered the discharge of a loaded shotgun. Double Tap Episode 444 This episode of Double Tap is brought to you by: Gideon Optics, Primary Arms, Medical Gear Outfitters, Bowers Group, Mitchell Defense, and Flatline Fiber Co Welcome to Double Tap, episode 444! Your hosts tonight are Jeremy Pozderac, Aaron Krieger, Nick Lynch, and me Shawn Herrin, welcome to the show! Text Dear WLS or Reviews +1 743 500 2171 - Dear WLS Anonymous Coward from Nebraska - Dear wls, I have a Mitchell defense bought the green grips to go with the green gun. What would be a good green butt stock or just put on purple butt stock? Still deciding on a flow-through can to put on it. Justin T - This question is for Shawn. In the early parts of Covid, you were going to have a medical class in Canton, Ohio. Ohio shut down so you canceled the class. If you come teach a class at Rivers edge tactical. Can the people that paid for the Canton class come to that one? Ps. A couple shows ago that you guys were talking about a volcanic action pistol I'm fairly certain I seen Tippmann ordnance the same company that has the Glock mag Gatling gun was gonna make a volcanic pistol chambered in .380 and 22lr Trucker Matt - Do any of the cast members have experience with IWA civilian-legal flashbangs, smoke grenades or any of their other products? I've been looking at them and thinking about buying some for "airsoft/paintball", and definitely not for SHTF reasons. Would love your input, or just general thoughts on them even if you have never used them. Thanks. Full-grown Human - Shawn stated that you didn't like we the people holsters, and I had never had any issues with them but I also didn't have to deal with the customer service side of them. I now have had to deal with their half-ass customer service and their subpar duty belts. My question is what issue did you have with them? I don't buy nearly enough guns or gear so I do like to take the advice of people who do. Aside from blue alpha do you have any other companies that the cast would recommend for a duty belt? I don't carry too much on my belt at work but I don't want this cheap made product. Amanda Hungnkiss - I was thinking about getting a Marlin in .357, but then they announced the 10mm model. As a 10mm fan, I was stoked to hear that, but also a bit confused about which one would be the better choice for overall power?Ammo cost isn't a big deal since I already have a 10mm pistol and a 357 revolver. So, which caliber marlin would you pick and why? Robbie R - Ok, hear me out. Gun Fights, but poll the listeners. EXAMPLE, Mitchell Defense rifle, suppressor, optic, maybe accessories. Each cast member makes a package, and listeners vote. Maybe Mitchell Defense offers it as a package. The winner of this week's swag pack is Anonymous Coward from Nebraska! Rebuilding Entries!: Listener David: Sorry I didn't make it into the first round, I always seem behind when you guys announce an entry show. Here are my plans to rebuild my pistol collection with $5,000. I am assuming no shipping, tax, or transfer fees on any of these. Most of my pricing is an average from Gunbroker, picking the first 2 or 3 completed and roughly averaging them together. I want to bookend with not really cheats this time. First up is a Mac-5 mp5 clone as a large format pistol. Atlantic firearms has them for $1,010 but I paid $975 for mine last year. Roller delayed 9mm is sweet. Next up is a blued Smith & Wesson Model 25 in 45 Colt with a 6 inch barrel. The less known Irish twin of the 29. $775 For carry, I would pick up another Hellcat Pro in 9mm. $550 For backup carry, I am adding an LCP Max in .380 $300 Next up is a Tisas 1911. These are on Gunbuyer.com for $320 To scratch my big bore itch, I picked a Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley in 44 Magnum with a 7.5 inch barrel. $800 on gunbroker. I suppose for "big-ish" bore? A Hi-point JXP in 10mm. Just bought one for $129 from RK guns on sale but I see $150 would buy one quite easily. Next, but not growing a man-bun for it, a CZ75B in 9mm. $550 My last choice is a bit of a cheat, I would buy a build kit from Maf-arms.com (shout out to Matt) for a G19 clone for $221.33 and since the frame would cost roughly $3 to print, that leaves me just over $300 for a 3D printer. Also the BB19 from Broken Bullets is the best grip for the 3D printed Glock, change my mind! To be honest, I am pretty happy with what I have now, so many of these would be re-buying old friends. There are a couple of things I would probably do differently, but it's minimal. Thank you all for the show. ======================================================================== Listener Russell: Hi, I've been listening for about a year. I found the idea of rebuilding my collection super intriguing. I've bought and sold/traded so many. I think now I know exactly what I'd need bare minimum in a collection. So first, I'm replacing my edc. A Shield Plus in 9mm for $420. No doubt absolutely the best all around carry gun I've ever had. Then I'm replacing my Bodyguard 2.0 $400. The most fun gun I've ever bought. It's crazy how usable it is for the size. Now the rest I don't currently own but these are what I'd get if I had to start over. For home defense id get: A Smith&Wesson M&P 2.0 with the 4.6” barrel in 10mm $625.

Media Hysteria: CNN's Inflated Mass Shooting Count Hits 324 CNN's report of "324 mass shootings" in 2025 may be an attempt to amplify fears around gun violence, but such claims often face scrutiny for accuracy. Double Tap Episode 423 This episode of Double Tap is brought to you by: Swampfox Optics, Medical Gear Outfitters, Night Fision, RMA Defense, Mitchell Defense, Bowers Group, and Matador Arms Welcome to Double Tap, episode 423! Your hosts tonight are Jeremy Pozderac, Aaron Krieger, Nick Lynch, and me Shawn Herrin, welcome to the show! https://pew.deals/- Dear WLS Pugh Binmateeth - Marry, Fuck, Kill - Binary trigger, bump stock, FRT. No notes Rob K - Dear WLS Long-time listener, love the show. Keep up the amazing work guys! My question is, how do y'all keep track of your ammo storages? I have well over a dozen different calibers now, in multiple different ammo cans, but I'm having trouble keeping track of how much I own to date. I would love to know a great way to keep track of what different brands, grains, dates purchased, corrosive and non-corrosive, and a total round count. Do you guys keep track in a specific way, like an Excel spreadsheet, an app, or just a handy dandy notebook? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. #WLSisLife #AmmoHorder #DrowinginLead DrLawnCareGuy - As a landscaper-American, I ponder many deep mysteries while using my leaf blower pack or riding around on my mower. For instance, I wonder things like "if el Yeremy liked amas de punto alto, cual would he use, y como le gustaria to have his hydro-dipped?" Would he have a c9 with sugar skulls? Appendix carry the 1095-pistol in diez mm with rainbow graphics? por favor, amigos, ayudamne. The GOAT of Buggertown - For a 9mm subgun, I'm curious what the cast's suggestions would be concerning a Mac5 MP5 clone vs a Matador Mat9 now that they are offered in roller delay... *No notes* #wlsislife #jeremyisnotacunt #ssbforever" Peter J - So since Madator arms now has a roller delay, is it worth buying one if I already have a Mat9? Then the real question is how does it compare to the crews MP5s since now you all have one. And Jeromebay really needs a Mat9 roller delay so he can full auto it. No notes Torn Taint - Long time listening, not first time caller here. Have you guys thought about doing a road trip to all lower 48 states to do a listener meet-up in one or two major cities in each state? You could even grab Johnny P. and his battle wagon and do content at gun manufacturer places. It's probably not going to happen but it'd be cool if you did. #wlsislife #dicksoutforgeno Bryan R - Why does everyone hate on Aaron when he's changing hearts and minds on the podcast? For instance, Jeremy used to love all nationalities as his own, then he met Aaron and thinks Hitler wasn't wrong about everything. Shawn's balls used to be normally attached to his body, then his balls saw someone was being a bigger dick than the one above it and sagged to the ground in shame. Nick used to be perfectly healthy, until his colon saw someone spewing more crap than it could and bled itself trying to spew more crap than Aaron could. Middle school bullies used to steal Savage's lunch money, and.......well that still happens, but there's always an exception to the rule. With all that in mind, what is the most backhanded compliment you all can give Aaron? Cheeks B Clappin - Shawn, have you thought of designing a signature wls cult suppressor? If you did you could call it the "SSB" and give one wood ssb token with each can. #ItsOurSSBcomrad The winner of this week's swag pack is Bryan R! In this deep-dive episode of the No Lowballers Podcast, hosts Logan Metesh of High Caliber History and Allen Forkner of GunBroker.com welcome researcher Justin Baird for a fascinating look at one of the most underrated rifles in U.S. history—the Krag-Jørgensen—and the two men who made it possible. More than just another bolt-action military rifle, the Krag-Jørgensen carries a story rooted in international innovation, unexpected design breakthroughs, and a friendship forged in engineering. From Ole Krag's privileged upbringing and passion for machinery to Erik Jørgensen's humble beginnings on a Norwegian farm, we explore how two very different men came together to revolutionize magazine-fed firearms in the late 19th century. Justin walks us through their backgrounds, their collaboration, and how their rifle went on to be adopted not just by Denmark and Norway, but also by the United States—becoming America's first smokeless powder service rifle. The episode also unpacks how myths around Krag "stealing" credit from Jørgensen persist to this day, despite their genuine partnership. Key Topics Discussed: The Origins of Ole Krag and Erik Jørgensen:Learn how one was the son of a prominent clergyman and the other the child of a rural blacksmith—and how their paths converged at Kongsberg's state arsenal in Norway. Innovation Through Cooperation:Justin explains how Krag's early designs and Jørgensen's mechanical skill merged to create a modular magazine system that would reshape military arms trials across Europe and the U.S. The Capsule Magazine That Changed Everything:Why Krag's “half capsule” design appealed to the Danish military, how it evolved, and how its quirks shaped the future of combat shooting strategies. Adoption in America:How U.S. Army trials led to the adoption of the Krag-Jørgensen, the tailored changes that made it uniquely American, and why it was eventually phased out in favor of the 1903 Springfield. The Krag-Jørgensen Company's Rise—and Fall:The lucrative U.S. contract that kept the company alive, the Sultan of Turkey's surprise offer, and how it all came crashing down when both money and momentum ran out. Tragedy and Legacy:The untimely death of Erik Jørgensen and the public speculation that followed. Justin shares how Krag spent the rest of his life defending Jørgensen's role in their joint success. Guest:Justin Baird – Researcher and Krag-Jørgensen historian Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for behind-the-scenes content, episode updates, and bonus history facts. In this episode of The No Lowballers Podcast, Logan Metesh of High Caliber History and Allen Forkner of GunBroker dive headfirst into the deep, murky waters of U.S. gun importation law—specifically the infamous 922(r) and its lesser-known sibling 925(d)(3). Topics Covered:What is 922(r) and how does it affect imported rifles and shotguns? The infamous list of 20 parts—and why only 10 of them can be foreign-madeReal-world challenges building AKs from parts kitsWhy a U.S.-made floor plate counts separately from a mag body and followerHow 925(d)(3) affects pistols and the ATF's point system for importationThe bizarre saga of the Glock 25, 28, and Taurus revolvers with “bonus barrels”Government logic: “sporting purposes” and the assault on modern competitive shootingWhy foreign manufacturers like Glock, SIG, and HK started making guns in the U.S.Stories from the field: zeroing red dots with duct tape and tactical assault putty™ Key Takeaways:922(r) only applies to rifles and shotguns, not handguns. The ATF's point system under 925(d)(3) has led to bizarre modifications just to pass import rules. Most gun laws—especially older ones—are often out of date and not based on real-world safety concerns.Gun owners remain largely law-abiding, but staying compliant can be absurdly complicated.Education is key: Understanding these laws empowers the community and helps counter misinformation. So, if you've got a buddy building an AK or tinkering with a parts kit—send them this episode!Let's help more people navigate the insanity of 922(r) and 925(d)(3).Subscribe, Share, and Leave a Review!Find The No Lowballers Podcast wherever you get your podcasts and follow us on social media for more behind-the-scenes insights.
