There's no doubt that a vast majority of people in society today have some sort of fetish. The fetish can range from the mundane such as dirty talk during intercourse. Or it can take on a different level such as bloodletting and scat play. But should they be classified as a mental illness? What if the paraphilia/fetish involved falling in love and marrying someone convicted of murder and sentenced to death? Listen in as we talk about the relatively unknown issue of Hybristophilia. The Context of White Supremacy welcomes Dr. Judith Fathallah. Since we began discussing the Columbine High School Massacre of 1999, Gus has learned so much. Specifically, two new terms I learned because of this subject are: Columbiners & Hybristophilia. The former refers to individuals, most of whom classify as White, with a tremendous interest (obsession) with the people and events associated with the school slaughter. The other term refers to people, again, mostly Whitefolks, with an attraction (often sexual) “toward real or fictional criminals or gangsters. It is a romantic vision of criminality and of the violation of social rules and moral codes.” The cowardly White Columbine tandem has legions of White males and females who “worship” these two as gods, or at minimum, two tragic White dudes who're cute and in need of a hug. We'll speak with Dr. Judith Fathallah about her research on this subject and the White worship of White mass shooters, serial killers, and child murders. An Outreach and Research Associate at Lancaster University and a Research Fellow at Coventry. Dr. Fathallah's interests are new and digital media, fan and subcultures, popular music, and digital literacies. She is currently a member of the COPIM project (Community-Led Infrastructures for Open Access Books), which seeks to research and and develop community-owned infrastructures for the publication of open access books. We'll discuss her 2022 report: “Being a Fangirl of a Serial Killer Is Not Okay.” Although much of Dr. Fathallah's scholarship examines the “sexist” criticisms of White gore consumers, Gus is far more struck by the overwhelmingly White aspect of the Columbiners and True Crime fans in general. #FanBoy #TheCOWS14Years INVEST in The COWS – http://paypal.me/TheCOWS Cash App: https://cash.app/$TheCOWS CALL IN NUMBER: 605.313.5164 CODE: 564943#

The recent case of Bryan Kohberger, a murder suspect charged with the stabbing of four University of Idaho students, has shed light on a rare psychological condition called hybristophilia. This condition refers to a sexual attraction to individuals who have committed a violent crime, often a murder. Despite the heinous nature of the crime, some individuals find themselves drawn to these criminals and may engage in romantic or sexual relationships with them, either through mail correspondence or visits in prison. This behavior can be dangerous for both the individual with hybristophilia and for society as a whole. Mental health professionals advise seeking help and treatment if someone is experiencing this attraction. #Hybristophilia #Murderers #Psychology #Danger #Treatment #MentalHealth Want to listen to ALL of our Podcasts Ad-Free? Did you know there is a name for when people actively seek out incarcerated romantic partners? Yup, and it is hybristophilia. Randa and I discuss what such couples break up over. I mean, what is the last straw when you already know your partner is a murderer? How far would you go for your partner? Would you kill for them? Is it ever a good idea to write to a stranger in prison? How good is Natural Born Killers as a film!? Who do you admire that you know you probably shouldn't? And what is folie à deux? Hybristophilia is one of the countless paraphilias with abnormal or extreme sexual desires. It is also known as Bonnie and Clyde syndrome. The term hybristophilia applies to those who get sexually aroused over someone else committing an offensive or violent act. What's behind it isn't necessarily sexual in nature—classified as a form of paraphilia - is sexual activity outside the scope of what is currently conventional. This can include recurring sexually arousing mental imagery or behaviour that involves socially unacceptable or unusual sexual practices. It turns out that brutally violent male offenders often have many female love interests. No, they're not women who were in any romantic relationships with them before they were incarcerated. It can partly explain why so many convicted serial killers receive letters of adoration whilst in prison from a hybristophiliac or Passive Hybristophilia. They are more likely to be a woman. Aggressive Hybristophilia This involves cases where the individuals attracted to the person who has committed the atrocities are sexually aroused by the acts themselves and want to join in with them. In Season 4 Episode 34 the girls talk about Hybristophilia suggested by a listener. (n. sexual interest in and attraction to those who commit crimes. In some cases, this may be directed toward people in prison for various types of criminal activities.) They didn't know what it meant either. Mel kicks it off with the story of the killer Canadian Paul Bernardo before Holly tells you about a Hillside Strangler. Shoutout to Saraid for the suggestion! Hope all is well in the middle of nowhere. Mel tries to be formal and the entire show collapses, Holly take a long time to explain the evidence she has that one of her exes has learned witchcraft, the girls give some very valid advice to women wanting to date serial killers while Holly talks about attractive serial killers (don't worry she's making much better life decisions these days) and Mel is sick YET AGAIN. Bonus both girls hit their faces on the microphones. Production, recording and post production completed by Holly who is now filing a lawsuit against Consulting Producer Craig for not being diligent in his duties to make sure the girls don't faceplant onto microphones. All complaints should be sent directly to Mel while Consulting Producer Craig wraps up some helmets for the girls to wear in an effort to avoid litigation. www.whichmurderer.comWARNING - Explicit language, content and themes (plus whatever else will cover us legally). What is hybristophilia? We tend to file serial killers among the worst examples of humanity, so it's hard to imagine anyone would be specifically attracted to them. Well believe it or not the term hybristophilia refers to just that. You could say it's a bad-boy fixation taken to the extreme. The term comes from the ancient Greek hybrizein, which means committing an atrocity against somebody, and phile, meaning to have a strong attraction. Hybristophilia is sometimes referred to as “Bonnie and Clyde Syndrome”.Hybristophilia can't be that common, can it? So how do you explain that some women are so fascinated by, and attracted to, these men? In this episode, Dr. J join Heather for a discussion about Hybristophilia, also known as “Bonnie and Clyde Syndrome". It's an atypical sexual desire in which sexual arousal is contingent upon being with a partner known to have committed an outrage, cheating, lying, known infidelities, or crime. The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles is an American television series that aired on ABC from March 4, 1992, to July 24, 1993. Filming took place in various locations around the world, with "Old Indy" bookend segments filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina and on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. The series was an Amblin Television/Lucasfilm production in association with Paramount Network Television. The series explores the childhood and youth of the fictional character Indiana Jones and primarily stars Sean Patrick Flanery and Corey Carrier as the title character, with George Hall playing an elderly version of Jones for the bookends of most episodes, though Harrison Ford bookended one episode. The show was created and executive produced by George Lucas, who also created, co-wrote, and executive produced the Indiana Jones feature films. Due to its enormous budget and quite low ratings, the series was canceled in 1993. However, following the series' cancellation, four made-for-television films were produced from 1994 to 1996 in an attempt to continue the series. In 1999, the series was re-edited into 22 television films under the title The Adventures of Young Indiana Jones.

Hybristophilia, aka Bonnie and Clyde syndrome, is the technical term for sexual arousal inspired by someone else's crimes. Ted Bundy, Richard Ramirez, Chris Watts — all received a ton of love letters in prison, often with bikini pics enclosed. Ramirez and Bundy each married women after they had gone to prison for a slew of disgusting crimes. Theories abound for this bizarre attraction: Are these women lonely victims of manipulation? Or is something more sinister afoot? Molly thinks she knows, and Katie begs us all not to drag bad boys' good names into this. We examine the phenomena known as Hybristophilia. When the ladies become obsessed with sinister, vile monsters. Prepare to delve into the strangeness.
Long enough ago to have certainly past the statute of limitations, I misrepresented myself to serial killers. Pretending to be a woman, I filled pink envelopes with letters hand-written with feminine looping script and mailed them off to some of the most heinous criminals alive in America at the time. One of these criminals replied. The letter I received was from "The Night Stalker," Richard Ramirez. In this episode, we'll discuss my catfishing of The Night Stalker and answer the questionnaire that Richard Ramirez included with his reply to me. We'll also awkwardly segue into a discussion about Hybristophilia and share a few stories of love behind bars.
A hodgepodge of true crime discussion and other news, including Riley discovering what Hybristophilia is, Rangel's inability to keep eyelash extensions on her face, and the perils of giving your kid an iPhone (hint : you can expect approximately 65 FaceTime calls per day) --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/moodybroads/support
There's a stereotype, of women being attracted to "bad boys." Cassandra and I don't even attempt to investigate whether this is a real thing; we jump directly into a discussion of why it might be.Disclaimer: Mo, from TargetedPromos: Live Stream for the Cure and California True CrimeFacebook group: bit.ly/iwbasylumSponsors: Sudio Sweden (code IWB for 15% off) and Bath By Bex (code CBDkate for 15% off) Merch: bit.ly/iwbpodcastmerch Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/IWBpodcast
