Having a neurodiverse child can be challenging, especially in regards to school and learning. After thousands of hours working one-on-one with students, Ian Siegel realized that many students have lost sight of what makes them so special with a unique capacity to learn.  Ian employs an unconventional but extremely effective approach to excavating the incredible learner that exists in each student he works with. He is the CEO of Streamline Learning and the creator of the iSavant assessment. In this episode of the Soaring Child podcast, Ian and Dana Kay discussed some of the challenges of the traditional classroom for neurodiverse students. Ian answered the question, “How does ADHD affect a students' ability to take a standardized test, and what can parents do to help their students be successful with tests, homework, and learning as a whole?”    Key Takeaways: [3:20] Common challenges Ian has noticed when tutoring neurodiverse students [7:47] Ian's research into brilliance and neurological distress [10:15] Eye-opening research about neurodiverse students' brilliance [15:19] Strategies to unlock a students' brilliance [23:45] Common problems neurodiverse students face with schools [27:46] How ADHD affects a students' ability to take a standardized test (and what parents can do to help their students) [30:48] How parents can help students with homework [34:36] 1:1 tutoring versus classroom learning [45:15] Where to find Ian online    Memorable Moments: “What I'm seeing is not even kids who are struggling to get A's. That's not the problem. It's more struggling to accept themselves.” “I'm not convinced that we really know how brilliant kids are at this point because we're only seeing the effects of their environment…of institutions like school that I simply think do not do the job, especially for neurodiverse students.” “Once we start to really pay attention to environmental factors, especially with students who are neurodiverse, there's this incredible bend in how students can transform to really get in touch with their brilliance.” “The kids who are the most brilliant are often the most distracted, the most anxious…” “A lot of these students who have so much capacity are fundamentally inhibited by the fact that their brains are under fire.” “All negative things in your brain can be explained by a reaction to your environment. It's not you. It's not you at all.” “You've been judging your child and yourself within the framework of an institution that doesn't get the job done.” “Let's change our neurological environment so that they can work.” “If they're behaving in negative ways, that's communication. They're letting you know something is not right with the environment potentially.” “If you don't really give that strong message of self-acceptance, then the percentage of time their brain will be devoted to, ‘Am I okay?”…and then either falling into distracted, anxious, or depressed patterns as a reaction to it….it's crazy.” “We are leaving people - kids - really vulnerable in this world by not actually having them integrate what they learn.” “Invite your children to learn by learning about them.” “One thing I noticed about having your brain on fire is that it limits your ability to really stay connected to other people.” “Brilliance comes in many forms: emotional intelligence, straight up IQ, insane memories, perceptual abilities…People are not thinking broadly enough.”   How to Connect with Ian Seigel Website: https://www.streamlinelearning.com/  Email: me@iansiegel.com  Book: https://www.amazon.ca/School-Sucks-Your-Child-Doesnt-ebook/dp/B0BV8JBDVJ     Dana Kay Resources: Website: https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ADHDThriveInstitute/  Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adhdthriveinstitute/  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/ADHDThriveInstitute  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/adhd-thrive-institute/mycompany/  Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.ph/adhdthriveinstitute/  Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@adhd_thriveinstitute    International Best Selling Book, Thriving with ADHD – https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/book/  Free Reduce ADHD Symptoms Naturally Masterclass – https://bit.ly/3GAbFQl   ADHD Parenting Course – https://info.adhdthriveinstitute.com/parentingadhd ADHD Thrive Method 4 Kids Program – https://adhdthriveinstitute.com/packages/

Transcript: Since founding Tailored for Success, my motto has been “Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day”, but “teach a man to fish and he eats for a lifetime”. Which is why I really like the book, I'm reviewing today – Get Hired Now by Ian Siegal, CEO of Zip Recruiter. This book teaches the job seeker to fish metaphorically in the job market. Although it is a thin book – less than 200 pages, it's not a book with “5 latest tips to get job” or a book with hundreds of pages that take you through step by monotonous step in the job search…it's for people who don't have the time, patience or luxury of taking months to learn how to find a job. The book give practical, well researched information on what you need to know if you are in the job search process. The layout of the book is with short but specific chapters on that I believe every job seeker should know regardless of where they are in the job search. For example, the book teaches you: 1. How to find the right jobs to apply to (emphasis on jobs plural). Gone are the days where you apply to a few jobs and hope for the best. 2. How to stand out from your competition by creating a memorable moment 3. How to be great in any interview – whether it's a prescreening interview, in person or video. And the most important aspect in my opinion – how to follow up after the interview. 4. The art and science of salary negotiation – According to a 2018 survey of more than 50,000 job seekers on Zip Recruiter, 64% reported accepting the first offer they received. Remember, the first offer from an employer is most likely priced with the knowledge that negotiation is expected. And just in case you are worried, employers do not rescind job offers because you ask for more…they want to fill positions not get mad at prospects for acknowledging their worth. 5. And much more Basically, the book is broken down into three parts, which corresponds to the three main phases of a job search: 1. The first part is on Getting Prepared – covering resumes – side note: according to CNBC 75% of resumes are never read by a human; polishing your online brand and how to build relationships with networking side note: 85% of jobs are filled by networking. 2. The second part is on How to find the “right” job – reviewing job search sites – not surprising Zip Recruiter is the best, and he tells you why, but he also reviews the book reviews LinkedIn, specific industry job boards, and how to use a recruiter. The book also includes in this section on how to find the right job, the tools you should have, how to determine which jobs to apply to, and interviewing (including how to ace a prescreen interview). 3. The third part is on Getting the job – why it is important to know how to negotiate, and an important element not often talked about – how to quit your current job (i.e., how not to burn bridges). My favorite part of the book has to be the summary pages of each chapter at the end of the book. So, if you need a quick answer, on a particular aspect of the job search – that's where you will find it. If you are looking for a quick reference guide, because maybe you've been laid off or fired. This book is a great place to start. In fact, it even gives you information on what to do if you were laid off or fired to make sure you are taking the right actions to secure your rights. Or perhaps you recently graduated, are coming out of the military or returning to the workforce after a gap in work history; there is valuable information in Get Hired Now to help you. Get Hired Now, Ian Siegel, CEO ZipRecruiter

On top of just searching for jobs, StepStone will interact with its users conversationally through new channels to discover more about job seeker preferences, skills, and interests and increase the number and quality of matching job applications. The new technology will become part of StepStone’s Autonomous Matchingtm platform. Based on machine learning, conversational AI will enable job seekers to find matching job opportunities even without actively searching for them. The technology draws conclusions from talking to the candidate and then suggests suitable jobs via text message, WhatsApp or onsite chat. StepStone customers will benefit from improved matching and higher quality of hiring. Engaging with job seekers based on conversational AI will first be integrated in StepStone’s job marketplaces in English and German language. https://hrtechfeed.com/stepstone-acquires-mya-conversational-ai-software/ ZipRecruiter®, announced financial results for the quarter ended March 31, 2021. Quarterly revenue increased to $125 million, up 11% y/y In April, ZipRecruiter filed a registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for a direct listing of its common stock. The Company’s registration statement was declared effective on May 14th, and its Class A common stock is expected to begin trading on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol “ZIP” on May 26, 2021. “In our first public earnings report, ZipRecruiter delivered record revenue in Q1. We are issuing guidance for the year that maps to the strong signs of recovery in the U.S. hiring market. We believe that we are in the early stages of a significant resurgence of job growth during the once-in-a-lifetime reopening of the economy after the pandemic. We are well-positioned to take advantage of this moment as we continue to actively connect people to their next great opportunity.” said Ian Siegel, CEO of ZipRecruiter. https://hrtechfeed.com/ziprecruiter-announces-first-quarter-2021-results-and-2021-guidance/ Phenom announced the launch of Phenom Hiring Manager, a powerful set of hiring tools that redesigns hiring, management and collaboration with recruiters.  Phenom Hiring Manager is enabling managers to overcome these challenges and improve collaboration with recruiters to fill roles faster. Talent Scout is currently available for clients located in the United States, Canada, the UK, Australia, and Israel. It will be available to additional countries soon. https://hrtechfeed.com/upwork-now-helps-you-find-pre-vetted-remote-freelancers/ Stoke Talent is launching customizable and automated Workflows for Onboarding and Offboarding non-payroll workers – such as freelancers, contractors, consultants and agencies – to make this process easier and risk-free for companies. Whenever a contractor is being onboarded to a company, they need to sign legal documents, provide payment information and tax documentation. The company should then run Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering (KYC/AML) checks before payments, document any system or data access provided to the contractor, and track hardware equipment provided, such as laptops and company badges. Today, most of these activities are done by email and tracked through spreadsheets, making this problematic and creating potential significant risks to the company. Stoke Talent’s automated Onboarding and Offboarding Workflows automates all of the above processes. It enables legal, finance, and IT teams to set up policies that are enforced throughout the entire company. https://hrtechfeed.com/new-stoke-adds-onboarding-tools-for-freelancers/ PandoLogic has acquired conversational chatbot Wade&Wendy to help their customers convert more applicants to the traffic they are buying.  From their announcement… Over the last two years, PandoLogic has been growing significantly in the Programmatic Job Advertising space. One common barrier to continued market adoption, however, is an assumption that Programmatic delivers large volumes of candidates but at low quality.  Coupling Wade & Wendy’s uniquely engaging and personal conversational AI technology with Programmatic will help increase conversion rates while reducing the strain on recruiters by doing the first level qualification screening.

Transform your interview scheduling by offering slots based on real-time availability while staying in control of who can book times in your calendar. https://www.cronofy.com/rectech Recruiting Technology headlines Popular online form builder JotForm announced Tables, a revolutionary way for HR teams to collect, organize and manage data in an all-in-one workspace.  JotForm Tables looks like a spreadsheet but acts like a database. This tool works by organizing form submission data, imported data and manually entered data into one feature-rich interface. It’s powered by a sophisticated forms engine, making data collection streamlined and simple. JotForm Tables lets HR teams: * Collect and organize applications * Manage PTO requests * Evaluate interviewees as a team * Create a checklist for new hires * And much more “Spreadsheets are great for working with data, but they have significant limitations and don’t work for HR teams looking to collaborate in a single workspace,” said Aytekin Tank, founder and CEO of JotForm. “So, we built something better – a tool that looks like a spreadsheet, but is much more powerful since it’s supported by a sophisticated online forms product.” https://hrtechfeed.com/jotform-tables-launches-as-a-new-way-to-manage-tedious-hr-tasks/ ADP®, a leading global provider of human capital management (HCM) solutions, is deepening its integration with ZipRecruiter®, the fastest-growing online employment marketplace2 and #1-rated job search app.3 ADP is the first HCM provider to make ZipRecruiter available directly to customers through its online platform. ZipRecruiter is now seamlessly embedded within ADP Workforce Now Recruitment, giving recruiters access to more qualified candidates and to intelligent tools that identify the best candidates for their roles.  The integration includes several key features: Tools to help businesses find quality candidates faster: Businesses will be able to distribute their jobs across 100+ job sites and reach over 30 million job seekers a month via mobile and web.1 Businesses will be able to use ZipRecruiter’s sponsored job posts to receive ten times more applicants, on average, than organic job posts typically do.4 Four out of five employers who post on ZipRecruiter receive a quality candidate within the first day. ZipRecruiter’s industry-leading, smart-matching technology actively identifies qualified candidates and invites them to apply. Ease and flexibility:  Job slots are flexible, allowing employers to easily swap a new job into a job slot or pause a search and activate it later. If employers need to sponsor more jobs, they will be able to purchase additional sponsored job slots through the ADP Workforce Now Recruitment Module in 2021. Employers who want to boost visibility of their jobs can purchase Traffic Boost within the Recruitment Module to drive additional applications in 2021. Seamless integration with ADP Workforce Now: Employers receive applications from candidates in real-time and view them directly in the ADP Workforce Now Recruitment module, eliminating complicated workflows, implementation time, and budget management. One-Click apply ensures companies don’t miss out on top talent due to lengthy applications. With ZipApply, candidates can apply to jobs with just one click. “ZipRecruiter is excited to provide a strong, reliable and streamlined solution for ADP’s customers at an especially challenging time in the economy,” said Ian Siegel, Co-Founder & CEO at ZipRecruiter. “ZipRecruiter’s tools are flexible, efficient, and easy, and free up time so that businesses can focus on adapting to changing business needs, innovating, and achieving their goals.” https://hrtechfeed.com/adp-deepens-partnership-with-ziprecruiter/ Juggle. Originally designed as a marketplace to allow executive-level women to re-enter the world of work in a flexible manner after having a family, it later expanded into a wider market for anyone wanting to work flexibly and for employers who need that kind of workforce. But with the world of work totally upended by the pandemic, “flexibility” is literally now the name of the game. Juggle has now disclosed its funding of $2.1 million from investors in the U.K. and the U.S. Investors include a number of the U.K.’s leading angels... With many businesses moving to flexible working arrangements, whether that means remote work, part-time, or shared roles, Juggle connects them with professionals that aren’t the typical “9-to-5” type people. Professionals sign up for the service, and recruitment tools allow them to schedule and keep track of job applications; coaching and support are available. Juggle also provides “smart matching” and the necessary paperwork to allow for these flexible roles. Businesses using Juggle to find the right candidate are vetted in advance to ensure that they embrace flexibility, so both employers and employees know what they are getting.   Founded by former headhunter Romanie Thomas, a core mission for Juggle, she said, is to see women in 50% of business leadership roles by 2027. Since launching in 2017, Thomas said 62% of all placements made by Juggle have been female. https://hrtechfeed.com/juggle-secures-2-1m-to-expand-its-flexible-work-saas-marketplace-for-senior-execs/ eQuest today announced that it will transform the way people post Internet jobs. Beginning Monday, November 16, 2020, customers with Amazon Echo or Alexa Built-in devices will be able to say, “Alexa, open job posting”. This key command will automatically connect the voice-user to eQuest – which holds the entire catalog of jobs for that customer to access for job posting. The user can then say, “post a job” or “check activity”. Gartner predicts that, by 2023, 25 percent of employee interactions with applications will be via voice, up from under 3 percent in 2019. Voice interfaces free digital workers from having to use a mouse and keyboard when interacting with business applications. This freedom can benefit workers greatly. eQuest announced earlier this year that much of its strategy for 2020 and 2021 will be focused on automating the greater percentage of its products. The voice activated release is one many planned for release in the next 18 months. “We are very excited to bring new technologies to the Human Resources community,” said Bob Jaworski, in charge of eQuest’s ATS and CRM alliances. “Our goal is to automate much of the job posting process. Simplicity is the name of the game.” https://hrtechfeed.com/equest-to-release-voice-activated-job-posting/
