In this episode of The Post Up, I sit down with Karen McCord, mother of the late sports journalist Carley McCord to discuss her new memoir Only Rainbows. Carley was best known to many New Orleans fans as the in-game host for the Pelicans and Saints, bring her energy and smile to every arena and stadium she worked. Beyond her role with the Pelicans, Carley built a career as a respected sports journalist whose kindness and passion left a lasting mark on colleagues and fans. Since her tragic passing in 2019, Karen has worked to keep Carley's legacy alive and does so with her book Only Rainbows, a story of faith and resilience. It's a conversation about love, loss, and the enduring spirit of a woman who will always be remembered in the New Orleans sports community.

“We can't ever talk about this so let's talk about not talking about it when we're talking about it…” Released on July 14th, 1992, COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION, the 5th MEGADETH album (and the 2nd to feature “the classic lineup” of Dave Mustaine, David Ellefson, Marty Friedman, and Nick Menza) would become the follow up to “one of the most perfect thrash albums of all time”, featuring a more streamlined, simplified, straight forward approach which served as a sonic palette cleanser to the progressive thrash complexity of 1990's masterpiece, Rust In Peace. Simply stated, COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION is complex in its simplicity. Even though this might be the most offensive episode we've ever made, we'd like to remind everyone that we're still all about “rainbows and peaches” even though we've emphatically stated for the record that “we're not gonna talk about it”. Remember proper cell phone etiquette to avoid being bothersome to others, prepare yourself for “The Average Double-Team”, head on down to Dangol County for some “High Speed Dirt”, and last but not least, find out “how to get out of offending anybody” when you “go pick up some honkies” and JOIN US as we start the clock and begin our analysis of MEGADETH's COUNTDOWN TO EXTINCTION. In this episode of the podcast, we are super pleased to be able have another thought-provoking conversation, this time with Ian Timbrell, another Crown House Publishing author. Ian has written a brilliant book, More Than Flags and Rainbows, so we sit down to chat about the future of education, focusing on the importance of true inclusion, cultural change, and creating safe spaces for all students. Ian shares his journey from teaching to founding a not-for-profit organisation aimed at training schools to foster an inclusive environment. The discussion highlights the need for long-term strategies over quick fixes, the role of language in promoting understanding, and the challenges educators face in navigating fears and misconceptions surrounding LGBTQ+ issues. Ian emphasises the importance of acknowledging mistakes and being open to learning as essential components of fostering a supportive educational community.Chapters00:00 Introduction02:50 Ian Timbrell's Journey in Education05:40 The Importance of True Inclusion08:11 Cultural Change Over Tick-Box Solutions10:53 Creating Safe Spaces in Schools14:04 Navigating Fear and Misunderstanding16:34 The Role of Language in Inclusion19:14 Long-Term Change vs. Quick Fixes22:19 Authenticity and Self-Expression24:51 The Evolution of Language and Understanding27:36 Final Thoughts and Quickfire QuestionsThanks so much for joining us again for another episode - we appreciate you.Ben & Steve xGrab a copy of Ian's new book hereWe mentioned the new RSE changes in the UK curriculum. Hello to me Beautiful Listeners!...it's been awhile,After 2 months of a grief fueled disconnect, I finally felt ready this week to sit down and share the story of my sweet angel pup Audrey's departure from this World in a solo episode for you all. It's been a rough couple of months yet there have certainly been some sweet moments and beautiful rainbows between the storms. I also share about heart warming visits with friends and family and renewing and cleansing adventures. There have been more tears than I knew I had and a roller coaster of feelings, yet I'm back and ready to share and get back to what I love most. Thank you all for your patience and for sticking around and supporting the show as I navigate through a very challenging year. Yet, of course, with challenge comes growth, strength, & grit and I'm all for that! So I keep my Soul pup in my heart and her spirit by my side and keep on keeping on even with a broken heart. In this deeply personal episode of The Cliff Ravenscraft Show, I reconnect with longtime listener and creative soul Boone Langston, whose journey from uncertainty to alignment took him all the way to Denmark—where he now designs official LEGO sets. What begins as a moment of appreciation quickly unfolds into a rich, multi-layered conversation about purpose, provision, creative calling, and the nonlinear path that leads us home. Boone vulnerably shares the ups and downs of his journey: the years of not knowing, the pressure of finding “the thing,” the courage to pivot, and even a moment when he and his wife nearly lost their home. You'll hear how saying yes to resonance—whether through LEGO, video, or teaching—eventually led to a wild ride of opportunities, including a spot on LEGO Masters and a full-circle moment working with the LEGO Group itself. We explore: The difference between faith and knowing What it means to live in alignment with your values Why the path often requires letting go of old success stories How love, family, and creativity can guide your decisions more than certainty ever could This is more than a conversation about career. It's a conversation about remembering who you are and choosing the next right step, even when you can't see the whole map. At the end, I share more about the upcoming Free The Dream Workshop happening August 29–30, a two-day experience to clear the noise, uncover what's next, and remember the part of you that's still waiting to be lived.
