Another month has gone by, giving Mike and Simon plenty to talk about in the latest edition of Reviewing the News. In the last episode, they were super excited about the upcoming Red Bull Hardline in Tasmania, and today they get into the results, the insane speeds throughout the course, Asa Vermette's rise to elite-level racing, and Jackson Goldstone's redemption. It wouldn't be a Reviewing the News episode without some bike industry news, so the lads discuss the recently imposed tariffs, the return of Nukeproof, and what's happening with Rocky Mountain, plus a fun conversation about some new cycling startups. She has solidified her position as the Queen of Red Bull Hardline. Red Bull Hardline Tasmania is an exclusive, invitation-only event for the world's most advanced male and female mountain bike downhill riders. The second edition of this event was held at Maydena Bike Park in Tasmania. If you haven't already heard of Asa Vermette, chances are, that's about to change in a big way this coming year. The 16-year-old Durango native has been making waves in the downhill scene since he was 14, showing up at pro races and beating some of the sport's top riders for the podium. He won most of his races this year, including the Enduro National Championship where he beat 3x world champ Richie Rude. 2024 will be the first year that he can compete in World Cups, where he'll be racing as a junior despite proving his ability to race at the top of the pro field. Earlier this year, he signed a multi-year deal with Frameworks, the team led by fellow downhill racer Neko Mulally. Asa joins Payson this week to talk about being one of the most hyped young riders the sport has seen in years. He talks about rubbing shoulders with his heroes…while standing next to them on the podium, and throwing backflips at Red Bull Rampage. He explains how Neko Mulally and the Frameworks team immediately felt like family, and how he plans to spend the $7,500 he won when he placed second at the U.S. Open this year ahead of the likes of Greg Minnaar and Jackson Goldstone. Payson also chats with Neko Mulally about when Asa first appeared on his radar, how his role as a mentor has been surprisingly emotional, and the moment when Asa's course record sweep at Snowshoe sent shockwaves through the pro field. Instagram: @theadventurestache

This was the very first Inside Line ever and Eliot was kind enough to be the guinea pig for us. Needless to say it's been an awesome ride for the Inside Line and we're stoked for more. Eliot mentioned on his Instagram account that the Mont-Sainte-Anne Red Bull webcast with Rob Warner a week or so ago was his last World Cup commentary. We'll definitely miss his knowledge and enthusiasm on the broadcasts and are excited to see what his future holds. After two years, the World Cup circus returned to the heart of the Pyrenees Mountains for an exciting weekend of dry, hot, fast, and tight racing. With a brand new track on a completely different side of the mountain, gone were the steep, technical sections we are used to seeing in Andorra, and instead, the track was made up of blistering fast off-cambers and high-speed turns with no shortage of loose shale and dust. Times were tight, and the margin for error was even smaller. This week, we discuss if World Cup downhill should assign permanent race numbers, if selling more downhill bikes is the answer to the longevity of the sport, the multiple death-defying sections on this year's track, Loic Bruni's softer-than-average suspension setup, Jackson Goldstone having the fastest time of the day, plus our usual deep dive into results and overall standings. Enjoy!
